Dear Ali, this Yoga-class has changed my life. I´ve been a biker/runner for as long as I can remember and have a very stiff body. Wow! As a guy who's used to doing lean body weight training and other cardiovascular exercises such as running and intervals, my attempts to do your beginner's routines humbled and intrigued me quite a bit. I realized that I have so many muscles that have been asleep because I've not been using them. Athletes and types such as myself are so bent on doing the hard fitness routines where the the Yang ignores the Yin. I am now a fan who will seek balance in this aspect of my life as well.

I've been doing yoga for a week and already I feel healthier and stronger. My energy has come back after a long period of feeling lethargic. I'm grateful to people like you who post videos and make this kind of thing possible.
I have a Q though: does yoga actually cause weight loss by burning fat/ calories directly or does it provide the environment for weight loss to happen (by boosting metabolism)?

I quit smoking almost 2 years ago with the intention of putting my spiritual and physical house in order. I've been meditating and focusing on quieting my mind. I feel I am ready to move beyond and get more physical. I stumbled on this video and I gotta tell ya...I made it through about 15 minutes and I Am out of shape! I will be back. Dear Ali, thank you for being an aide during this time in my spiritual journey. I am cleansing my life of negativity and toxins in order to be an example for my daughter, 6 mo old. I have lost 65 pounds but the inches have started to come off after doing this routine for a month. I hope to gain strength and be able to keep up on some of your other videos.
Just did this one again. Perfect for getting me back into my practice. My body was soooooo stiff, so I know that this was what I needed. Started doing my practice first thing in the morning before breakfast to make time in my very busy schedule.

I am new to online yoga and have followed a few people. That said, I find myself coming to your classes more and more because they are so easy to follow. I did another class of yours yesterday morning and this class this morning and I feel strong and a little longer having stretched out some of my aches. I love it! I just did it and I felt great I love your class it the first time I do it and I'm gonna keep doing it. I like to workout but my Dr. Told me that I have knees arthritis so there are many exercises that I can't do. I'm glad that I found your channel because I can continue working out and it won't be boring for me than just walking, or riding bicycle

I agree, with Maya. Love this class though! Today was my first day and a lot of my upper back pain is gone. I only would suggest actually doing what you were saying at the time. I think you were a little ahead with your movements, which confused me as I was concentrating on making sure my alignment was straight so I wasn't always looking at what you were doing. As a beginner, like someone who has never touched a sport or yoga or anything!, this is the only yoga class so far that I have found that I have been able to keep up with. Most "beginner" classes aren't really for people with little to no experience. Thanks for this!

Dear Ali.. Good class for low impact days. I like the modifications you did for beginners, I cheated and did chaturangas and upward facing dog instead of cobra. Hi Ali, Great beginners power vinyasa class. I believe that it has been constructed to beginners to power vinyasa. Anyone who is struggling perhaps should look at other styles of yoga as power vinyasa is a strong practice. Wonderful descriptions of the postures, thank you x

Atlanta Tsiaoukkas thank you so much. Keep up the good work. As far as upper body and arm strength add a few more chaturangas from your knees and hold them for a few seconds each. You can increase them with time. When you feel like you can do some of my intermediate classes you will notice that I am incorporating a lot of upper body strength poses. Also check out my wrist alignment video for downward facing dog- make sure your shoulders are aligning correctly. Good luck. Keep me posted :P
i was recommended this channel and did this as my first video. it was a great warm up, and quite challenging. i feel energized doing this first thing in the morning. the only problem i had was that she was a tad bit fast, she had done a pose then her voice talked about doing it...it was difficult keeping up.
This class is amazing! Thank you! I had twins a couple years ago and have felt stiff and tired ever since but I can really feel my body improving with doing these classes throughout the week! And it's not too hard for me.

Thanks, Ali for this class. I am trying to work my classes up to a vinyasa practice, and this gives me a great foundation. For the intermediate practitioner it is a great opportunity to work on alignment and freestyle a bit. It is also great to be able to read the reaction from the beginners, so as to remember they are coming from a wide variety of exercise backgrounds, and that each is different. Namaste, Ali.
Cierra it is very individual. On average a few months of this video mixed with another one of my beginners classes are a must. Once it feels very easy you are ready to move on! Hope that helps. Love

I've been doing workout videos for many, many years, but the closest thing I've ever really done to yoga is Chalene Johnson's PiYo program. I like how great the verbal cues were in this video. It flowed really well too.

This class was amazing! I have looked at your videos before but was a bit intimidated. They looked too hard! This beginner video was just what I needed. It did not have any overly difficult poses but was still challenging enough to keep me interested. It can be hard to find good beginner yoga videos. I can easily say, you are one of my favourite yoga teachers thus far! You explain the poses and alignment so well. I have been doing some of them wrong all this time. And you seem to have found the perfect balance for knowing when to speak and allowing silence. I will be a devoted follower! Thank you so much for sharing your gift:)
I love doing this yoga routine... it doesn't comsume my whole energy but i taste my sweat and following this with schedule will surely trim you down and makes u energized and alive too.

Thank you Ali! I particularly like the fact that you say that this video is part of a process. One often finds beginners videos or advanced ones, but this one can be used just as it is, or as you say, in preparation for power yoga. It's nice to be able to evolve to keep things interesting.
I've been searching for yoga videos and this one came up and decided to do this. Great sequence. A little hard to follow first time though since the words are ahead of the action. When I look up to see what you're talking about, you're already through the pose. Guess I'll just have to memorize it!

I found this class as a great way to warm my body through the sequence. I'm returning back to a more regular practice, mainly at home now. I found your class balanced with the choice of poses and how you presented them in the flow. I feel wonderful! And the voiceover is great too. I could really hear you and pick up on the cues (I've noticed in other videos, sometimes this is hard to hear). My only feedback would be to extend the length of time in each of the poses, especially trikonasana, the warriors i and ii, staff pose, and savasana. Especially savasana, where the practice needs time to really be integrated after movement. Thank you! I really enjoyed your class and will be checking out more of your videos soon! Namaste ~

The system for flexibility I prefer over all others is movement integrated stretches such as during a standing vinyasa yoga sequence like this one and then some finishing stretches on the floor. Blessings :D
