I bought my Craftsman Platinum 7.25 190cc lawn mower from a local guy who fixes and resells used ones. It always seemed to be a good lawnmower, but the last few months, it would tend to run for a few minutes and then die.

The Briggs and Stratton Platinum lawn mower motor wouldn't even start without having me spray starter fluid directly into the carburetor, and then it would stall out. I knew I would have to repair this equipment, or it wouldn't turn over for the rest of the summer!
In this repair video, I show how to do a few things: how to test the compression of the Craftsman mower's engine cylinder, remove and clean the single spark plug, how to clean the Briggs and Stratton carburetor, and how to clean the carbon deposits in the cylinder head with Deep Creep by Sea Foam. All of these efforts ended up getting my mower to start, and it's been running pretty well for an older model Craftsman.
If you need to know how to repair a recoil pull starter assembly, I show how to fix a pull cord in this video: • How to Replace Pull St...
    Transcript:
"Oh Hi, welcome to my channel. Today I'm going to be repairing a lawnmower that refuses to start I think something might be gunked up in the carburetor but we're going to take it apart and see if we can get it running consistently so the lawnmower I'm going to be working on is a Craftsman Platinum 7.25 (foot-pounds, not horsepower) 190cc with a Briggs and Stratton. Pretty common motor for these brands, so this one has an electric start push button right here but I tend to start it with this because the battery that I got with this mower doesn't hold a charge very well. I'm going to take the air filter off and check the carburetor behind it and see if I can clean it out see if there's any problems there I'm also going to take out the spark plug and see if that has any problems and maybe clean out the spark plug hole see if the cylinders have compression first things first I'm going to take this air filter off and inspect that
    wow that's looking pretty gunky.
I'm going to replace this but for now because I need to mow the lawn today I'm gonna clean this up with some air and then put it back on okay this is what it looks like right now I'm gonna hit some air to it
I'm also going to hit this with a little carb cleaner and put it out in the sun to dry a little bit. Alright, while the filter is drying
try to put them somewhere where you're gonna find them so they don't get lost okay you should be able to just pull this off and looking at this looks like I'm gonna blow this all out with the the compressed air and then we'll see what else is going on blow this out and clean it up a little bit
this is a good time to just I'll spray carb cleaner around just clean up some stuff and then you get yourself a clean rag
clean this stuff up so it doesn't look quite as gunky
and they also spray some carb cleaner in here and work the butterfly
make sure to pat off this gasket though
so just doing that might be enough to be able to start this so I'm going to pull back the Bale I didn't put the the air filter back on I'm just going to let it with a open carburetor and I'm going to try pulling this pull back the Bale and try to keep them at a test pull

I have the 725 series but i can not find a manual and google says my searches returned nothing? you would think you could still find a manual 944.362121 so I am guessing these numbers the parts are all different ?

what kind of gasoline does it use? the red cap indicates an 85 with a slash. does it mean use 87 octane or higher? Thank you in advance.

You might also want to make sure that your spark plug is the correct one, and gapped correctly. I've had that happen, where I had a spark plug that I thought was good, and then I changed it out and it immediately fired up.
