I have had a bag of clothes from a 4 yr old patient who passed away. This would be the perfect gift for his family.
Did win the pattern?! 😀
Yep :) Just posted the announcement video :) Please message me your mailing address.
I'm a little late to the party but the McCall's L9547 pattern is literally the same as your first simplicity pattern A2115 picture and all I got it at Walmart for 4.97
Yep! The Simplicity one went out of print and was rereleased last year under the McCalls label.
My Mom passed in August and I've been trying to decide what to make with some of her clothes. A quilt is a definite, for me!, but this bear will be perfect to share with the rest of our family.
Thanks for the tips. I make things to take to our local hospital for children that are patients and blankets for premies. The kids and their families both appreciate them so much. I'd love to start making the bears for them. Thanks again.
The bear she said is discontinued is now labeled as "it's sew simple" "style L9547". I hope this helps someone 👍 I found a bunch at Walmart the other day
Thanks. I thought I saw it recently too.
I stopped at a Walmart that I don’t normally shop at today and found this patter in stock. I was so excited because I have 15 nieces and nephews who have asked for memory bears to be made from their grandfather’s shirts.
Great video Whitney. I took my pattern pieces and laminated them all. My sister and I are planning on making some for Christmas. I love your videos. Thanks
Awesome! Let me know how they turn out :)
Lamination is a great idea!
I love making bears. I use to make bears and sold them. Custom made in clothes they wanted the bear in. Like a Harley bear, a farmer bear, Hawaiian bears and many others. I really enjoyed doing it.
I'm glad you mentioned taking note of number of pieces and finished size. I'm not sure I would have paid attention to that, and may have been disappointed not having enough fabric when I started construction.
Thank you for this series.
I am just finishing up memory bears for my husband's grandchildren and I used the Melody Memory bear pattern from Funky Friends. I wish I could recommend the pattern, but I really can't. The shoulder/upper arm seam was unnecessarily complicated and I ended up having to take in some of the seams on the head at the neck line to get the head and body to fit at all. If I was more accurate at cutting and with my seam allowances, I'm sure it would have been better, but I still don't care for the way the shoulders go together. I'll buy another pattern before I make any more bears. That's just my opinion.
I will use my grandson's baby clothes to make the memory bear for his mother /my daughther. Thanks for the great videos. Looking forward to the upcoming step by step memory bear video.
My brother in law passed away 6 years ago a few days before my first son's birthday. He also happened to live with us and was his Godfather. We kept all of his clothes and I've been thinking of making my son a special bear using some of it. Thanks for the great tips!!
I went to 2 Walmarts and found the It's sew simple McCall's Teddy Bear pattern at the second Walmart... in a pile on top of the pattern filling cabinet! It is $4.97 and in the current catalogue at Walmart. Unfortunately neither Walmart has their patterns organized well at all... you have to hunt and hope!
Awesome...I was just looking for a memory bear pattern today and couldn’t find one...not a lot of options to find patterns in my area. I would love to have this pattern!
I got the Memory Bear patten from Walmart A2115 Simplicity today....Thanks so much for the great tutorials....
Can't wait for your video. I have couple of my dads plaid jackets I
want to make a memory bear for my mom. Great tips on the patterns🌸
I think the memory bear would be great for a teenager made from their souvenir T-shirts from camp and school and vacations. Like try to use the logos somehow.
I been saving clothes from my kids. They are now 30 & 31. I think this would be perfect to do with those clothes & give it to them, thank you
I would love to make this bear out of my son's coming home outfit. if that turns out well, then I will have no choice to make some for my nieces and nephews!!:p
Thanks for the great videos :)
Pauline from the funky friends factory has a video on how to make her honey bear pattern. I use the signature bear pattern because I prefer the articulating bear. When you go to purchase the pattern you have the option to purchase a printed pattern or a PDF. I use the PDF because it’s fast and the pieces fit on the pages with no need to tape anything together. You also can print it up to 10 times if you need a new copy. The instructions are really good and there are also video tutorials on her RUclips channel for some of her patterns. You could say I’m a fan.
Subscribed, liked, shared and can't wait to try this pattern using my husbands old military uniforms! My daughters would love that!! Thanks Whitney, I love watching your videos!!
Hi Whitney, This memory bear pattern would be perfect to make for all my siblings, whom we have lost our mom due to a heart attack. I would have love to see this pattern still available but like you said I can't find it anywhere I look so far. These bears would be the best gift ever that I could give my siblings. Great Give away gift that I would treasure for sure.
There is a little boy at church who lost his daddy tragically a few weeks ago and would like to make him a memory bear.thank you for doing this series!
Very excited for this video! Can’t wait to make such a cute bear. Love you’re videos.
I will use my grandsons clothes to make one for great grandparents, also want to make one from grandpa and my clothes for him. Thinks about using essential oils we use to add the scent ti the stuffing.
During Christmas time I was asked by a friend who's husband died he was the same ages for my son to make her little boy a bear . I couldn't find the pattern that I like but I did find a Christmas Bear panel on eBay it was 18 in tall and had quite a few pieces but I was able to use it instead of having a paper pattern. I plan on making my own brown paper pattern off of the cloth pieces it's not the same but similar and does work. I wish I had thought to save some of my husband shirts when he passed away but I didn't I would have made his grandchildren bears since he never got to meet them.
I would use from the stock of fabrics I have or purchase something that absolutely jumps out at me. I would make the bear for my great-grandsons first birthday in April. Side note, I really enjoy your site Whitney, I have been sewing since I was thirteen years old and I am now 75 years young and even with all that experience I still finds new idea's from you.
I have been making quilts for one of my best friends girls who lost their mother a year ago. I have a beautiful dress that I want to incorporate into a memory bear for my friends mother. It has a under dress with a lace over dress, I think it would make a wonderful keep sake.
I would use my first grand babies clothes. Thank you!!!
Hi Whitney. I know this video is 4 years old, but I ve just made 2 of the 2 piece bears as Memory bears. It was possible to add bits from other garments! Their new owner loved them. I wish I could show you photos of how they turned out. Thankyou for your videos. I always feel so inspired. X
Whitney!! A very informative video on memory bear pattern choices. That is so helpful, and saves a lot of headaches when trying to duplicate the bears. Thank you once again for what you do. It is truly appreciated. :-) I'm not sure what I would make the bears out of yet, but there are plenty of children around here to give them to.
I would make a memory bear from shirts that belonged to my dad. ❤️ Thank you for doing this series, Whitney!
Hi Whitney, I was so excited today to find two patterns at Walmart..Took them both. Online costs were really high. Thanks for sharing.
+Molly B Wonderful! Glad you were able to find it!
the bears would be good for remembering and having a piece of the family members that were lost.
I think these are adorable. I love watching you. You are talented. I can wait to see the rest of the videos of these memory bears. 😁
+veronica lanham Aww thank you!
My friend reached out to me to see if I could make 10 memory bears for her family. Her dad passed away suddenly and her family is heartbroken. I watched your video on how to make the memory bear and felt confident to tell my dear friend that I'd be honored to be apart of keeping her father's memory alive. Looking for the right bear pattern proved to be very challenging though. I've been looking for a few days now, online and in store. Online, the prices are CRAZY for the pattern you like best so I decided to buy a pattern from Jo-Ann's. The pattern is the Simplicity pattern that has the 2 pieces. As soon as I got it home and looked closer at the image and the instructions did I realize that this bear would not do. I'm so glad I watched this video, it only confirmed my suspicions about that pattern.
Thanks Whitney for posting such AMAZING tutorials and videos. 🧵🧵
I found the pattern today at a Wal-Mart from it's sew simple #L9547
I decided while I was at Walmart to try to find Whitney's favorite pattern . The tab said it was out of stock. I was disappointed but I kept looking and I found it in the back row ... (Wish I could have found more to give to Whitney for her give aways... )I was shocked and thrilled! So I am letting everyone know just maybe you might find it at Walmart... worth a look 8) Looking forward to your video on how to put the bear together!
I would love to try that pattern! My friends baby just turned one and she has requested that I make him a bear from his infant clothing.
Lots of great info! Going to try to find your go to bear pattern.
If you can't find that one look up the rare bear pattern by Simplicity online. It's the newer version and easier to get.
A friend of mine sister just passed away and she left behind 3 daughters. Making bears would hopefully bring them comfort in their time of sorry.
I would use jeans from my children. I love this idea so much!
Currently in the process of figuring out what kind of interfacing to use for some of the thinner fabric tops my mom had, but im working on making a memory bear(actually 6, more if i can) for myself and my siblings out of my mothers clothing she had. She passed away unexpectedly in August and i kept the clothes because i knew there was something special i could do that would be enough for all of us kids to have something of hers with us all the time. 💙
+Ktabzz I use Pellow P44F for all my bears. Have made 12 so far and have 14 more to make and it's worked great. I buy it a bolt at a time at Joanns when I have a 50 or 60% off coupon.
I will definitely check that out, thank you :)
Hi Whitney
I’ve used Patches the Bear (the pre printed bear on a fabric panel) and I have used 18” inch doll clothes (using knit fabric) as well.
I make memory bears for the families of a hospice center.
Thank you for sharing your tips.
That is awesome!
WOW our WM has no patterns at all. You are lucky, I would love to make this for my little granddaughter with some of her baby clothes. Something she can have from now on even after Nana is long gone.
+Tammy J Out Wal-Marts got rid of the craft sections then added it back a few years ago when they realized in a lot of smaller towns it was the only place some people had to get fabric at all.
Love your bear . I want to make one with my grandsons all time favourite tee shirt but I’ve searched and searched and can’t find a pattern anywhere 😞
I found the pattern at walmart today for 4.97.
I baught the last 2.
Amazon sells this for 29.00 plus shipping.
I also found it at Wal-Mart.. But am missing # 1 & # 3... Am making a memory bear for my friend his a retired Marine. N I found Marines Fabric n I have already started this memory bear but I can't finish him ... Please help..
Thanks for posting this. I can’t find 2115 so I got the rare bear because you said it’s similar. Free shipping on simplicity site. Thanks again
Deidra Powell I got free shipping also
Can't wait to start this project very excited
Hey Whitney!!! Thank you for the lovely things you said about my patterns! :) xxx Pauline
You're welcome! I know a lot of people who love using them :)
Can't wait for your step by step video to come out. I was lucky enough to find the It's So Easy bear pattern at a local walmart so Please Don't choose my name. I am going to use mine to make a bear for my friend whose husband passed away last Sept. I'm going to let her cut out the pattern pieces with what clothes she wants to use and I will sew them together for her since she doesn't have a sewing machine. We've been friends since third grade...forty some years!
I found the exact same Simplicity A2115 pattern repackaged as McCall’s “It’s So Simple” L9547 at Walmart today. Even has the same bear picture as the one on the Simplicity pattern.
Yep! They are owned by the same company and I guess since memory bears have become so popular they decided to reprint the pattern. But they put it under the other company name so the price could also go up...
Very Cute Bear Pattern! Will be using clothing from a young boy that is deceased to make BEAR MEMORY
Our Walmart doesn't have a "pattern" section :( Wish they did, especially for that $1.95 price wow that's amazing, I had to back the video up to make sure I saw that right!.. Anyhow thanks for another fantastic tutorial! I have a near and dear friend with a young son with a "rare disease" so I'm doing some research on the "rare bears" to hopefully start some of those!!.. But of course who doesn't like to win giveaways, especially when its discontinued stuff we cant find so thanks for that and count me in, sharing on Facebook asap!!... My daughter, stepdaughter, nieces and nephews just recently lost both side Grandmas both within 5 months of each other so I would love to make them all bears out of some of their Grandma's' clothing to remember them by!!. Thanks again, you make Wednesdays something to look forward to ;)
I have some prints and solids that I would use. Thank so much for tutorial because I can't follow a pattern. :)
I would make two memory bears one for my nephew from my sister's/his mother's cloths and one of my sons old onesies.
I would be using my kids pajamas for bears. I want to make some for my nieces and nephews also.
I love your videos... I will try to find this pattern I want to make bears out of my dads shirts he passed away 3 years ago..
Hey Whitney!
You e taught me several tricks I didn’t know!!! Tks!
I was wondering what you prefer for fusible interfacing for your bear pieces?????
I like Pellon P44f lightweight fusible interfacing. It's cheap and just enough to interface without becoming too stiff
My cousins father passed away 2 years ago and I would love to make his grandchildren memory bears out of his shirts.
I found the "It's so easy" pattern by accident one day while looking for another one. I was at the time planning on making a memory bear but my original plan was to look up pattern pieces online and draw them out myself with no established pattern. Well one day I was looking through the Wal-Mart patterns for another pattern that is completely unrelated to toys, but I still happen to stumble across this pattern. I bought it and it worked so well for the bear I was making. Only one down side came with this pattern, the pattern was missing piece 3 of the bear, if I remember correctly piece 3 was the side face, or side head, if I'm wrong on what number piece it was then correct me but it was for sure the side head that was missing. So I had to draw it out with the excess pattern paper it came with. Other than that the pattern worked out great for me.
+StormChasingNinja Wow, I've never heard of them missing pieces since they are printed on one big sheet, but glad you were able to make it work.
Thanks for this i have made that two piece pattern and found it hard it looked alright in the end but it was fiddly we cant get your psttern in the u.k but can get the other simplicity one so going to get it and try it out x
With the Funky Friends, you can download a free Honey Bear when you subscribe to the news letter. She also has follow along video tutorials for it. It's a mid size bear with the seperate foot pads and would prob work well for newborn clothes. I'm revisiting my copy for when my grandson arrives in May.
Thanks for the tip!
I would love to make a memory bear using my sons outfit he wore home from the hospital. My MIL bought it in Greece and it has a husky on it just like his big brother Zeus!
I would make a memory bear of all the outfits my son’s wasnt able to wear since he was born at 24 weeks.
Definitely want that pattern!
Hi, Whitney! I’m so excited because I found one pattern at the 3rd Walmart I went to today!!!! 🤣😊 I can’t wait for your videos!!!
Yay! I'm so happy your found a copy!
I would like to use some of my mom's clothes. These are awesome
Greetings from Boston
Great video. I would love to receive the pattern to make a memory bear. My husband passed away on February 24, 2012 and I have been putting off making a memory item from a few of his clothes. Up until today I wasn't sure what to make however after watching you video I feel that the bear would be perfect.
Keep up the good work 👍
Will make one for my niece from her parents clothes together
I have saved some items from my Gma Eva who was almost 100yrs old when she passed. My hubby passed this past April and I have all of his clothing...not ready to clear out his items yet. But I know my kids would love memory bears made from his items. I would LOVE to win a pattern!! thanks for the chance :)
I totally agree with you on the patterns. I have them all
That 2115 IS out of print, but there is another alternative, which I know is available from simplicity.com:
Simplicity Pattern C5461 Rare Bear Sewing Pattern $5.96
+su7kids Yep, I talked about the Rare bear pattern in the video and have a link to it in the description box for anyone wanting to buy it.

I'm really enjoying this video series.
Aww thanks! I'm loving it too :)
Though I really don’t expect to find one, I’m on my way to Walmart now. There are 4 in my area!!! Fingers crossed that if I don’t find one, I’ll win yours! My children lost their daddy to cancer a little over 4 years ago so I’ve been hoarding his flannel shirts for this very purpose. Thank you for your videos, Whitney.
I got one! Please remove my name from eligible entries to make room for others to win. So pumped!
Yes! I scored pattern A2115 today! Yippee! There was ONLY 1!

Yay I would love to win!! I would use my grandpas shirts!
Super stoked.. great video!
I recently start following your Chanel, I love the simple way your explain things. I am start to sew memory bears for family purposes ( no intention on do business) but I do t want to mess with my memory cloths. The thing I bought I pattern thinking was one but the result was is cloth I should cut to get the pieces of the bear. My question is can I trace the pieces and make them like a pattern to be able to do more than one bear or from this large cloth with the pieces of the bear is not able to just cut and sew? No sure if you will catch what I need to say 🤪
I believe you could iron and starch the fabric then make a pattern from it to use many times. Make sure the seam allowance is already included, if not, add seam allowances onto your pattern pieces. Hope that helps.
@@Whitney_Sews i followed your instruction on one of your videos. I bought from dollar store plastic cutters and traced the pattern. Awesome idea, now I have pattern and still having the fabric pattern. Thank you.
I got lucky today, I went to my local Walmart here in town which I despise because of the poor or lack of customer service. I checked their patterns and I got lucky, the had 2 of the Simplicity Memory bear patterns in their pattern drawer, I grabbed them both and ran like a bandit , LOL. The Walmart I usually shop in didn't have any when I checked the other day, I also checked in Hobby Lobby, I figured it was a lost cause, SO today I ate crow and much to my surprise the crappy Walmart here in town had 2, I'm happy but I still hate Walmart in Seneca, SC , LOL
Thank you very much for sharing and all the information I needed you're the best ever
Your videos are outstanding...thank you.
Walmart has them! Got one yesterday!
Awesome!
Whitney. I would love to win your pattern. I am just getting into this and I am addicted!! Your videos are so helpful. Thank you! I am using a gown to make this bear. A friend lost her mom and I am making it for her daughter. I currently doing bunny but I really need this bear!!! So stinking cute.
I have the simplicity 8155 pattern, I am having a hard time figuring out a few steps. Would you consider doing a tutorial on this pattern?
Hi Whitney. I recently acquired 4 baby crib bumpers, which doctors are currently recommending parents not use due to safety issues. I'd gladly repurpose them (quilts, diaper bags, etc) and wondered if you could make a video to help me along? That's of course, if you haven't already made one. Thanks in advance!
I would like to use my husbands old ties if I could get the pattern to work with them
Darn, I missed the pattern give away. I'm really looking for the updated newsboy hat?
Here's the link for that tutorial - ruclips.net/video/F4w7vzimU00/видео.html
Cool I found that same pattern in my walmart
I would love to make one from my gramps clothing. For my grams 90 th bday.
Where do you get the eyes and nose for your bear?
Thanks for all you do.
Links to the exact ones I use are in the video description box
I would love to make bears for my kids & grand kids to get shared on facebook
So cute and the video is so awesome can’t wait to start mine
