I really, like really really, appreciate you taking the time to explain the 'why' or intent behind things like the "1/8 inch of travel". It enables me to verify execution is correct AND achieving the correct end state. I am a bit disappointed you found other hobbies because your videos are the best balance of direction, commentary, and demonstration.
This worked on my 2019 Iron 883 sportster. Harley Davidson quoted me $617.89 with taxes. You saved me a lot of money! God bless your soul. Thank you 🙏🏼
This was the best video I could find of the clutch cable replacement. Well done! I did it first attempt, no problem because of this thorough video… minus my own hiccup with two stripped Torx screws. Thank you so much!
Much appreciate the thorough and detailed explanation, best video on the topic. You oughta be a teach lol: it all comes clearly and the audience stays tuned for the full 41 minutes.
My 2014 Sportster has zero instructions for this in the manual other than “see dealer”. Thank you for making such a thoroughly detailed guide for replacing the cable.
Thank you for shooting this informative video. I recently switched from Honda to Harley and this is very helpful. Will check all of your videos later. Thumbs up !!!
I have the service manual, but this is so much more clearer for me. Extra info like the assembly bearings and adjustment details are great. I wonder if the new cable comes pre-lubricated..?
I hate snap rings, and H-D uses them everywhere. I have over $200 worth of snap ring pliers mostly because I own Harleys. I have a 2006 Sportster, and it has 6 screws in the derby cover. By far the biggest PITA issue I ran into was the derby cover gasket. The original gasket came part of the way off when I removed the cover, and I was planning to replace it. But instead of an oem H-D gasket, I had an aftermarket "James" gasket. No way would it fit. Despite saying on the bag it came in that it was a replacement for the oem part 25463-94A, and that it fit 1994-2014 Sportsters, it was TOTALLY wrong. The diameter was right, but it was was twisted 90 degrees compared to the oem gasket. I had to order an oem gasket from H-D. I used Lucas "Red N Tacky" grease to hold it in place on the primary cover while I put the derby cover back on. I have since seen another one of those "James" gaskets, and it was the same as the one I originally had. I don't know what the issue is, but avoid "James" gaskets, at least for the derby cover. My manual says to torque the derby cover screws to something like 80 in.lbs. DON'T DO IT. That WAY too tight. My '06 uses #27 Torx screws, and I removed and reinstalled them with an L shaped Torx wrench. Just snug them up. Probably no more than 25-30 in.lbs. I did the clutch adjustment like everybody says to do it. I just used a flat screwdriver bit in my fingers so I could get a better feel on it than using a larger screwdriver. I turned it till I could barely feel resistance, then turned it back 1/4 turn. With a 1/16" gap at the lever, my clutch would not disengage until it was like 1/8" from the grip. Another RUclipsr called Two Wheeled Rocco suggested that I loosen it another 1/4 turn. Now it works perfectly. This guy knows what he is talking about, and will not hesitate to help you. If you own a Sportster I strongly suggest subscribing to his channel. I went through 20+ posts on a Sportster forum and could not get a straight answer. This guy got it right the first time. If you own an older Sportster, and can still get genuine oem H-D derby cover gaskets for it, I suggest getting several. They are only $2 apiece.
Cool video 😁. I have just fitted an Energy One clutch to my Sporty, haven’t had to change the cable yet though. I love these bikes. I did laugh at the end though, I don’t wash my bike anywhere near enough...
I got clutch cable for my 2000 Harley sportster xl1200 said was 52 3/4 inches even tho I kept measuring 55 old cable on bike but Harley n Google said otherwise got new cable the 52 3/4 it's shorter than original so we still got it to fit but had to run it above foot pedal instead under all connected but when try to put in 1st it makes crazy sound from the circle primary cover we have adjusted few times n still same issue what did we might have done wrong

@@marihall5005 hey man, check this video link out first. It's a common problem with clutch lever. If that's not the problem I may have some other suggestions. ruclips.net/video/dEd-UVkqDmo/видео.html

Do you recommend lubrication of clutch and accelerator cables even if they have nylon sleeves on the inner cables
Very good instructor you should work for harley verygood👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏

Same here how did you fix your issue
One question do you put in neutral or third gear when doing this.
hi, same s*** happens to mybike, now i'm thinking about new clutch cable. drag specialties or barnett? whats your experience with drag specialties cable? thank u
I used a Barnett and it worked great. Whatever is cheaper honestly
I changed the cable and bars on my bike but when i put the bike in gear while off and pull the clutch in the bike won’t move idk if thats normal or not
If you're in gear the bike shouldn't move if it's off.
Please comment what videos you would like to see done on the sportster. I'm open to all suggestions.

What ever happened to the Foxbody?
I will comment a time stamp for this video when I get a chance so that you can skip to the part you need. I know it's a little long.
Great video
The only thing I can say with the deal with it you should be telling people to put the right bolt in there not a metric Bolt
