Amazing, printed an entire ruined city in 15mm scale and was dreading painting it all but this video makes the task much more manageable. Time to break out my cheapo airbrush!!
Epic project! Two suggestions for airbrush beginners: 1. Try to avoid mixing paint in the cup via air backflow, as you're risking getting paint into the inner workings of the airbrush. Use an old brush for stirring instead. 2. When removing the needle, try to draw it out of the front of the airbrush (after removing the nozzle) instead of dragging it out the back. The reason being the same as in point 1.
Just wanted to say, I used this video as a rough guide to paint my own set of ruins and they turned out great. I’m not a very good painter, but I was amazed at the quality.
Welcome to the Airbrush Covenant! It's a fantastic tool and a time saver, not a cheat like some would call it. Contrast paints through the airbrush go on smoother than many other paints, and work as great filters too! This build gets more epic every time.
Gz on discovering the airbrush! Welcome to 2008! All kidding aside, many people avoid buying an airbrush even though they are very cheap nowadays... And with the more recent affordable versions with battery powered mini-compressors (for under $50), everybody should get one. dude! airbrush all that gold! also some of the best airbrush guys i know use high pressure, its all about airflow control. push the trigger so mostly air is coming out and slowly allow paint to flow through, thats how you have control. no need to switch out needles and all that
My own methodology thus far has been rattle can spray prime in main color, touch up details, coat with homemade oil wash (oil paint and mineral spirits). You need to give the road street names, to make it more realistic here’s one idea the road of the god emperors glory. Look good what you are doing I have quite a bit of terrain to paint myself that I have gathered over the years and I will probably do it with light Belcher and non-oil as the planet I am creating is a major mining world for metals for the imperium so they use the metal they mine that they have left over to make their buildings. some extra fine grit plaster mixes well with pigments and inks (and water) to make a great gapfiller between building and ground, and it will ad dirt/rust
