    Epic project!
    Two suggestions for airbrush beginners:
    1. Try to avoid mixing paint in the cup via air backflow, as you're risking getting paint into the inner workings of the airbrush. Use an old brush for stirring instead.
    2. When removing the needle, try to draw it out of the front of the airbrush (after removing the nozzle) instead of dragging it out the back. The reason being the same as in point 1.

    Gz on discovering the airbrush! Welcome to 2008!
    All kidding aside, many people avoid buying an airbrush even though they are very cheap nowadays... And with the more recent affordable versions with battery powered mini-compressors (for under $50), everybody should get one. The savings from swapping to airbrush primers compared to rattlecans alone is enough for savings when you have any sort of "meaty project" ahead.

    My own methodology thus far has been rattle can spray prime in main color, touch up details, coat with homemade oil wash (oil paint and mineral spirits). But I can totally understand jumping into the airbrush experience for a project of this size. Though I'd have gone with one of the airbrushes with the larger reservoirs so as not to have to refill as often.

    • @Zorpazorp
      @Zorpazorp  2 года назад

    You need to give the road street names, to make it more realistic here’s one idea the road of the god emperors glory. Look good what you are doing I have quite a bit of terrain to paint myself that I have gathered over the years and I will probably do it with light Belcher and non-oil as the planet I am creating is a major mining world for metals for the imperium so they use the metal they mine that they have left over to make their buildings. Looking forward to seeing how they turn out in the end paul

      @@Zorpazorp just realised, you can enhance your preshading. First rattlecan preshade for speed (and do white at a 90° angle), then block in black through the ab.
      You can then add a glaze medium (or 'transparator' from mig) to your main colour for more transparancy and thus more contrast.
      Looking forward to the next video!

      @@Zorpazorp you could add some more color to the single tone building with some metal balconies or a fire escape. Honestly, the gw buildings are so so sparse on traversal you could go nuts and they wouldn't seem overdone. (Not that I'm givng them any credit for the minimalism)

    Those lovely marks from the wash are tide marks, you get them when working with watercolour/thin inks, they're caused by inconsistent drying. If you want to go ahead and experiment with them then adding a sprinkle of salt to your wet-ish surface can bring them out reliably
    Buildings look pretty nice too, 10/10, would not visit

      @@Zorpazorp No worries! Ideally you want a binder that's liftable and not permanent, I think it worked here because the acrylic binder was so diluted that the pigments could do their own thing. Obviously just spray on a clear coat when you're done. Also, it works way better with granulating pigments like ultramarine (pb29) or mars black (pbk11), Jane Blundell's a watercolourist who has super thorough guides to all that

    i hope you wore a respirator mask while airbrushing, especially if you plan to use enamels trough it! I see far to many youtubers not using one, not thinking about the small bits of plastic (acrylic) or chemicals in the air (enamels, thinners) that your lungs does not want prolonged exposure too.
