Those results look great! I'm not a fan of drybrushing FDM prints for the reasons you mention, but this looks very, very good. Guess I'll have to see if I can get that truck bed lining paint here, trucks are not exactly common in the Netherlands.
@@FacilityD20 I recently took up 3D printing and have gotten a lot of great pointers from your channel, I was wanting to pick up airbrushing so I can start painting my miniatures more efficiently and was wondering if there’s an airbrush kit you recommended for beginners? Also are there any guides you recommended as well?
@@AceUndaunted27 Thanks! For an airbrush it really depends on how much you want to spend. Either way these are my recommendations for an airbrush for miniatures ruclips.net/video/YEUSb3ZB5Pk/видео.html
I like the idea of spray on truck bed liner! I think I might use that on the bridge (your tutorial from earlier). The painting you did for these came out great. I'm still practicing the dry brush technique, but it's getting better. Keep up these amazing tutorials. Thanks for the education.
Nice! Thanks. Yeah the truck bed liner can be a very useful tool for sure. I seen some plastic dip spray at the hardware store last week that I want to try out as well.
@@FacilityD20 my brothers and dad use that stuff on old tools to make new insolated handles. Been 10 years on the one pliers, still look new! Covers as thin or as thick as you like.

Printing these now!!! Thank you so much for the advice and tips on this. Just getting into combat patrol and 40K (big game). Any way you could upload the files/link to the floors you made? I’m not the best at altering/ blending files. Please keep making more!
Hey Troy, now on top of that desk, get yourself a large paver. Yeah, like the ones that go in the garden and put your printer on that. You will be amazed. Better prints and so quiet. The mass of the paver concrete helps the quality. Works with all FDM style printers. Keep up the great work.
I use a paver now and it's made such a big difference! For anyone else interested, here's a great video on different things to consider. ruclips.net/video/y08v6PY_7ak/видео.html

Hi, just discovered your channel - awesome stuff! I've been interested in texture sprays for a while but never considered truck bed liner! Ingenious way to obscure print lines. Just wondering - did you remove the floors from the original files in Blender and then print them separately? Thanks!
Next time your near a Walmart or auto parts store snag a can of sprayable plastidip in black, love using it on my terrain to quickly fill in my layerlines but retain the smooth texture
Try using lacquer to help hide your print lines. It has much better self level then other thicker paints. It melts into the previous layer so smooths a lot better. If you also print your floor tiles standing up you will really reduce the amount of lines you see there as well.
nice but floor varnish, works a treat a few coats and let each one dry, works a treat BUT it stinks a bit so be warned open area only , once a few coats its as smooth as silk , you can use car putty in a can that works too but you may need to sand , floor varnish no sanding
Okay, I know this is an old video, but I want to ask the question nobody asked. Why are you printing Directly on the heat bed and not using a build plate.

those turned out dope - great work Troy!
Appreciate it!
Could you please share the rough settings for cura and some tips for printing stuff like that?
This video was a while ago... I can not remember what they were at the time
Nice work Troy! I love that you try new things just to see if they work. Looking forward to the next one!

Thanks. Most times I try to just use my airbrush on 3d prints, because drybrushing just makes them stand out more.
Just found this channel and I love it, keep up the good work dude.

Wonder how it would look with the RustOleum Hammered Metalic paints
Not to bad, I have a Imperial Guard Helmet build on my channel where I used it and it helped to hid the layer lines

Great technique! I try not to care about layer lines, but this is a good way to reduce them.
Yeah for sure. They don't bother me a whole lot either at the end of the day
hey, great job! where did you get the floor?
They are on thing i verse for free
Hi I was wondering if you could tel me where you found the stl files for the floors. thanks in advance
They were free on thingiverse
so random thought after seeing the supports... you can totally make hose into walk ways lol. love you content =)
Thanks. I would say you are right!

Hey thanks. Yeah I found someone on thingiverse that remixed the files to removed the floors, so I used that.
What is the actual footprint of the longer lk5 printer. Not the print area. Need to know if i have space for it fit on my bench
Sorry I'm out of town and can't measure it, but I do remember it's about 23x23" because it just fits on my bench.
I miss the cracking open a nice cold one for the boys.
You and me both! Need to do that again, now that the summer is coming.
I've seen a video here on RUclips where they used watered down bondo to cover the layer lines. However, this is an interesting idea.
That would defiantly work, but would be very time consuming.
It's been a while since I've seen it, but they either brushed it on, or ran it through an airbrush or paint sprayer.

do you have the files for the floor?

So the trick to it was really just a chalk type paint?
Basically
Nice !

Okay, I know this is an old video, but I want to ask the question nobody asked. Why are you printing Directly on the heat bed and not using a build plate.
You can print on the heat bed like that, most older printers did not have removeable build plates like they do now.

Honestly me 2. Im thinking of buying a p1s, or going bonkers and getting a ender Idex pronter for PVA+PLA combo
no merece la pena imprimir con esa calidad.
