This is how you pick a new singer. Qualities of the old singer, but clearly their own person as well. That way the band gets something new without changing their fundamental sound. As well as not expecting a new singer to sing in ranges not meant for them. Some bands miss the boat on that one. Kamelot did good picking Tommy. Excellent.
I have to admit I was extremely worried about their new singer not being able to hold up to Roy, I am so happy my worries were totally unfounded. Not only is it the same Kamelot that I've loved for years, but Tommy adds his own personality to the vocals, and it works. Perfectly executed member change. Keep it up guys!

The problem with most of us is that we continue to compare Tommy to Roy, we keep thinking in the old Kamelot. While I admit, Roy was an amazing talent and a great singer for Kamelot, he's gone now, and I have accepted that. We shouldn't compare Tommy to Khan; we should judge him as his own talent. I personally love this album and Tommy. Wishing the best for Kamelot!
Tommy is definitely capable of carrying the torch. Half of the time I hear Kahn when he opens his mouth, but he has his own thing which makes it work great.
I believe that what people complain the most about is that Roy's talent was too big compared to Tommy's, I personally think he just didn't fill the hole, and even if I'm being unfair, their music has changed too much since Roy left (and i am not only speaking about this song) so it doesn't really feel like Kamelot anymore. Just my opinion.
I was thinking the same thing. I miss Roy, although Tommy is doing an awesome job, Roy had something more. He really sang from the heart. I went to see them live shortly before they announced the split and it was amazing. Keep on doing good music Kamelot. :)
True to that, i personaly feel that this album is better than Poetry for the Poisoned, it brings memories from Karma, Epica, Black halo and ghost opera, and Tommy's voice is very compatible with Kamelot's. Khan was great but Kamelot are not gone.
Seen them live 3 times so far and had the chance to meet them in person. They are the nicest people ever and they adore their fans. Can't wait to see them again. It was especially amazing when Elize grabbed my hang and sang "I am your Angel of afterlife." I was melting.
Mind Blown!!! I can't believe I'm only discovering this now.. This is pure musical brilliance. Every time I watch this video I like the song more and more. Tommy Karevik, Elize Ryd and Alissa White-Gluz, what a revolutionary trio. I really hope to see more songs featuring these names in the future.
I love this song, but the video is surely a tear jerker. They surely know how to draw out different emotions. The collaboration of Alissa, Elize and Tommy in this song is purely magical. They all complement each other. I hope they do more in the future.
+MutilatedMetalhead While your at it, if you like the vocalist check out Seventh Wonder. He really shines there. The whole band does actually, the bass and vocals in seventh wonder are out of this world.
+Jan Soukup #right-on! I heard of these guys from a geeky 16 year old gamer girl and have been a part of the Kamelot world ever since. Being a musician, I can say they are the "Czars of Symphonic Metal", to me.
Keep coming back to the video, I think it fits the song wonderfull - and I love the female addition here, in graphics and singing. But, Tommy is an amazing singer.
Tommy is simply one of the best vocalists I've heard in my entire life. His range, power and emotion is pretty much unrivalled and amazingly he's probably even better live. Excellent song and album.

The father is so overcome with anger that he cannot forgive his son, and becomes insane. Father's unrelenting anger drives the "guilty" son further and further into himself and his guilt, all the way into the son's adulthood. "Guilty" son keeps reliving the event that killed his sister. Anybody else literally was in tears because you understood a video and realize it was sad and very meaningful? I am literally in tears because of this video. It is a very amazing video.
I am still in love with Khans amazing voice, but what I feel people seems to forget is that Kamelot has 4 (with Karvik 5) over the top amazing artists. The arrival of Karvik, for me personally, doesn't change Kamelots status as my favourite band, nor should it for any other true fan of Kamelot. I still love you guys, more than you can imagine :3
As I've brought up before on other videos, I see Roy and Tommy as being different in subtle ways. Most here in the comments can tell because, well, we're either metalheads, Kamelot fans, or both. Roy tended to switch from a deeper register to a higher register often, showcasing his background in opera. The darker, deeper notes were Roy's signature. Tommy, on the other hand, remains in a soaring high register for most of the songs he is on. This is more of Power's Metal's signature vocal style, so it's expected. This style of vocals compliments Silverthorn's addition of driving synthesizer in a few of the songs, lightening up much of the album.
I haven't listened much kamelot's music since Roy left, But Tommy is such a great singer and this song is just so good that you want to listen to it over and over again. Definitively my interest in the band is on once more. Keep on doing good music guys.
Tommy really does show his skills. never will truely replace Khan but will be an excellent continuation to the life a really high quality band. I feel in the shadow theory he really comes to his own. can't wait for more things this band will do in the future.
Plot of the video as I see it: A rich family of five live in a mansion, next to a river, on a piece of land in the country. One of the children, a boy and the oldest of the three (The boy in red) is flying a kite on the roof when his brother, the middle child (The boy in black), joins him on the roof and demands that he have a turn with the kite. Meanwhile, their sister, The youngest (The little girl), is chatting with their mother in the parlour. She has a very active imagination and is telling her mother a story that she came up with. Growing bored with staying inside she tells her mother that she's off to play with her bothers. The mother (The woman) watches her leave with a smile on her face, her heart swelling in adoration for her precious daughter. The girl joins her brothers on the roof, sees the kite and starts amusing herself with her imagination, waving at it as if it were a giant talking butterfly and giggling when she imagines a small man clinging to it for dear life, parachute strapped to his back. She's too involved with staring at the kite to notice that the middle child is fed up with his older brother not sharing and begins to fight for control of the kite. In the tussle, their sister is knocked off the roof and she screams before she hits the water below, dying on impact (because she landed wrong, a bellyflop from that height can kill you). Both parents hear the scream and the father immediately rushes home to see what happend. When he arrives, the boys have already told the mother and she tells him the news. He comforts her for a brief moment before his grief surfaces in the form of anger and he blames her, saying that if she hadn't let their daughter play outside that day, then she would still be alive. He storms off, leaving her in tears. He finds his sons and immediately begins yelling at his first born, telling him that he was foolish for playing on the roof and starting a fight with his brother. The oldest boy tries to explain but his father beats him while his younger brother sits with his back turned, consumed by guilt and in the throes of a panic attack, because he feels that his father is blaming everyone except the person at fault: him. Their mother dies a month later of a broken heart and the boys are left to be raised by an abusive father. Flash forward many years and the brothers are now young men. The younger brother has been haunted by guilt and grief his entire life and is in the middle of a panic attack, similar to the one he had on the day of his sister's death. The older brother tries to console him, as he has many times, saying that it's not his fault. He had taken his father's blame for the incident throughout the remainder of their childhood because he wanted to protect his little brother from his father's abuse. As the elder brother consoles the younger, their father returns home in a drunken haze, still pointing the finger of blame at his oldest son. The father tries to beat his first born again, but this time he's a grown man. The older brother easily throws the old man to the ground and declares that he no longer considers him is father and storms off, leaving his father dying of a heart attack on the ground. This incident is the final nail in the coffin for the younger brother as grief and guilt consume him and drive him to insanity. He ends up in bedlam and his days are filled with screaming, sobbing and rocking back and forth while murmuring to himself and slapping the sides of his head with his fingers. The grudge-esque woman symbolises his guilt in the form of the corpse of what his little sister would look like if she had grown up. The woman in black symbolises (obviously) the angel of death, or in the case of the song, the angel of afterlife. The singer is the man's spirit, if you will, praying for death and forgiveness at the same time and hoping that everything will be made right by God's grace. The part when the angel of afterlife herself sings is when she answers his prayer. The end, when he hallucinates his little sister alive and well symbolises a kind of death or afterlife, as his mind no longer lives in the real world. REAL SAD STORY, YO.
I miss Roy, a lot, he can never be replaced. They did as fantastic job as possible picking the new guy, and he does a phenomenal job. I just hope Roy knows how appreciated he once was.
Pretty much this song got me into Kamelot and when Elize appeared I had to check out Amaranthe. Plus seeing Tommy, Elize, and Alissa work together made me fanboy
True fans love Kamelot... True Fans love Roy Khan, Thomas Youngblood, Tommy Karevik, Oliver Palotai, Casey Grillo, Sean Christians, Glenn Barry, Mark Vanderbilt, Richard Warner and David Pavlicko. All members who passed on the band .. all are amazing..
I love Tommy so much. I love the entire Silverthorn album. Tommy has a perfect voice, people keep saying that he's not enough like Roy Khan or that Khan was better. I can't judge because I just found the band this year, and the only song I have heard by Khan is The Haunting. I am a die hard Tommy Karevik fan. I am a die hard Silverthorn fan. And that will never change. I love you Tommy! You are more than perfect :)
I haven't listened to Kamelot since the days of "Ghost Opera" and "Haunting" so I had no idea Roy left the band or any idea what to expect as a result - but this is really, really good :)
Silverthorn kicks serious ass! The more you listen to it, the more it grows on you. This cd is absolutely brilliant. Tommy, welcome to Kamelot. They made a wise choice having you replace Kahn. This is one of my favorite Kamelot cd's, possibly my favorite! You'll be singing the choruses in your sleep. Buy this cd!
Wow. That. Was. The most. INCREDIBLE music video I've ever seen! I knew Alissa was gonna be in it but it took a while to recognize Elize in the video. Totally blown away by that. Song is amazing! Love it! Can't stop listening!
Harley has way more of an adorableness factor (which reminds me way more of Elize), but I get what you're saying. Alissa's harsh vocals always sound unhinged, and she sounds like she has at least one mental breakdown per album, haha. It's a good thing though, makes her sound more awesome.
Beautiful album art, beautiful voices, and beautiful singers! Kamelot has been and will always be one of my favorite bands, regardless of whose behind the microphone.
I like the video even better than the song itself. It's got such a fantastic dark aesthetic, and it tells a good story in a very compact timeframe. My favorite bit is with Alissa from 3:10 to 3:27. The video and audio both manage to be so anguished, sinister, and somehow beautiful all at the same time. Wow.
Thanks for your comment! Sacrimony is sacrifice + ceremony.
Excellent.
Elize and Tommy are magical together. Their voices are just absolutely perfect when blended together like this.
Tommy and Elize's part was EPIC!
So much soul in Elize's cry during their duet at 4:10, gives me chills every time.
the minute she sang Nebula is when the chill factor started
Sean Eggers For me is when she starts with: "I am your angel of afterlife...." and so on. I rewind that part 10000x.
Came here for Alissa, left with tears...
Liar liar though
I came for Elize.

Lyrics
A passing life each day, a carving on the wall
It’s like a night without awakening
The truth is lost, and maybe never to be found
Like the shadows of my pantomime
When all the world is gathered for the final feast,
Will there be someone to believe in me?
Voices echoing in my distorted mind
Is this for real or just a dream?
(Am I losing my mind? I am not afraid, my dear)
Sing for me angel of afterlife calming me down
Chaos inside my nebula
And make the wrong turn to right in a celestial light
Forgive my sacrimony
Tell me what they say that I’m supposed to know
Tell me every little detail
Make truth appear for me as distant memories
Like pictures on a silver screen
Elize Ryd:
It all becomes clear
The truth will appear
Forever a debt for you and me
Sing for me angel of afterlife calming me down
Chaos inside my nebula
And make the wrong turn to right in a celestial light
Forgive my sacrimony
Alissa White-Gluz:
And now leave me alone
Erase my memory
Don’t want to hear, don’t want to see
Don’t want to think about the lie that follows me
All becomes clear
But no one will hear my testimony
Elize Ryd:
I am your angel of afterlife calming you down
Silence inside your nebula
And when the wrong turns to right in a celestial light
I’ll be your testimony
Sing for me angel of afterlife calming me down
Chaos inside my nebula
And make the wrong turn to right in a celestial light
Forgive my sacrimony
(Ring around a rosie,
A pocketful of posies,
Ashes, ashes
We all fall down)

Not bad
Seen them live 3 times so far and had the chance to meet them in person.

Can't wait to see them again. It was especially amazing when Elize grabbed my hang and sang "I am your Angel of afterlife." I was melting.
Old fans love Roy.. New fans love Tommy.. True fans love Kamelot
Elize Ryd is so underrated as vocalist.
Great song, marvellous voices, fantastic video.👍
Elize and Alissa are the cherry on the cake.😍

+walkie0talkie Those eyes though....
Gave me chills without a doubt
+walkie0talkie totally agree. Elize
Don't you love when Elize Ryd just pops up from nowhere?
Mind Blown!!! I can't believe I'm only discovering this now.. This is pure musical brilliance. Every time I watch this video I like the song more and more. Tommy Karevik, Elize Ryd and Alissa White-Gluz, what a revolutionary trio. I really hope to see more songs featuring these names in the future.
Her voice is just absolutely amazing and man is Elize gorgeous
I love this song, but the video is surely a tear jerker. They surely know how to draw out different emotions. The collaboration of Alissa, Elize and Tommy in this song is purely magical. They all complement each other. I hope they do more in the future.
I admit I came here for Alissa but that was phenomenal!!! Definitely gonna check out more of Kamelots's stuff!
Opposite here. Came here for Kamelot, now watching Arch Enemy videos 😃 If you didn't already, I highly recommend checking out The Black Halo!
+MutilatedMetalhead While your at it, if you like the vocalist check out Seventh Wonder. He really shines there. The whole band does actually, the bass and vocals in seventh wonder are out of this world.
+MutilatedMetalhead their latest album, Haven is really great
+MutilatedMetalhead Pay attention! A few years ago I came to "March of Mephisto" vid for Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir and got stuck with Kamelot ;-)
+Jan Soukup #right-on! I heard of these guys from a geeky 16 year old gamer girl and have been a part of the Kamelot world ever since. Being a musician, I can say they are the "Czars of Symphonic Metal", to me.
Kamelot is the Michelangelo of music!
Keep coming back to the video, I think it fits the song wonderfull - and I love the female addition here, in graphics and singing. But, Tommy is an amazing singer.
I agree. It must have been a bitch to fill Roy's shoes, but Tommy does it and gives them a new dynamic as well.
This trio of vocalists is stunning. I hope Kamelot use this more on the next album.
This guys are the best. Kamelot is absolutely EPIC
Came here for Alissa, left with a new favourite song. Lead singer has one hell of a voice.
I was stunned and amazed that Kamelot would survive after Khan's departure. This is a pretty damn good song!
this is not just a song this is perfection
Anyone else cry every time they watch and hear this song? Sad, yet beautiful.
Tommy is simply one of the best vocalists I've heard in my entire life. His range, power and emotion is pretty much unrivalled and amazingly he's probably even better live. Excellent song and album.
And also Marc Hudson from Dragonforce. He can do high notes and growls. And his live performance is just amazing
I love Tommy, but Dimash is better

That keyboard riff at 3:38 .... I can't stop listening to it.
The instrumentals at 3:25 always sends a shiver down my spine, fucking love it.

So I just found this band by accident.... And I'm loving every minute.
Elyze's voice is amazing!
One of the best songs they have ever made....

Plot of the video as I see it:
A rich family of five live in a mansion, next to a river, on a piece of land in the country.

I wasn't quite fully comprehend the plot. Thank you for making it clear. Good music! Good video! Good story!
I miss Roy, a lot, he can never be replaced. They did as fantastic job as possible picking the new guy, and he does a phenomenal job. I just hope Roy knows how appreciated he once was.
this band.makes everything as it should be ! Vocals,music,lyrics,video,casting....Well....fuck me ! They're perfect !
Yes!! I wish they come to Greece sometime!
they are 😉
You forgot edgy music videos too!
Agree. Loved them since 2005, when I fist listened to The Black Halo.
Just like children of bodom
It doesn't matter how good the other albums are, Silverthorn is my favorite.
Pretty much this song got me into Kamelot and when Elize appeared I had to check out Amaranthe. Plus seeing Tommy, Elize, and Alissa work together made me fanboy
Greetings from Bulgaria.. we love you !
Elize Ryd makes every song better. I see great things ahead for Kamelot. Rock on!!!
Saw it at the New Orleans show as well. Was an incredible night! Got to meet them all afterwards.
I just love this song and Tommy's voice!
I finally saw Kamelot live yesterday, and I was so happy when they played this.
The ultimate song!! With the two hottest women of music, Elize Ryde and Allisa White-Gluz all in one song!😍😍😘❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm proud this video was filmed in Belgrade. Kamelot I
tommy sings so beautiful love his voice Great song!
Alissa White-Gluz and Elize Ryd, girls you have a legion of fans in Brazil!
I haven't listened to Kamelot since the days of "Ghost Opera" and "Haunting" so I had no idea Roy left the band or any idea what to expect as a result - but this is really, really good :)
chills went up my spine when Alissa and Elize came on
Thx for this Song. Just brilliant and the first time i feel something again while listening to music.
Oh, I will! Looking forward to seeing you all there! The stars have at last aligned after all!
3:08 - My favorite part out of the whole thing, I think its awesome that Alissa featured in this song! :D
How the fuck could anything b as beautiful? I'm in love.
Buy this cd!
everything is so good: music, vocals, video
I love that song and also fact that clip was recorded in Fantast Castle in Serbia. Love Kamelot since first album, miss Roy but Tommy is also great 🤘
Elyze's part hits me in the feels like a goddam train, instant tears.
Wow. That. Was. The most. INCREDIBLE music video I've ever seen! I knew Alissa was gonna be in it but it took a while to recognize Elize in the video. Totally blown away by that. Song is amazing! Love it! Can't stop listening!
First, Tommy sounding a lot like Khan and with such a powerful voice, then Elize and then Alissa. What do you want? Kill me with ear-pleasure?
This band is outstanding the others and the featuring vocals with Alissa and Elize is flawless
Kamelot returns to Seattle and Vancouver in Sept!! DONT MISS IT!!
If Tomy would touch my hair the way he touches Elyze's at 4:11, my heart would immediately stop and never beat again :D
This song is Masterpiece 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I get shivers everytime she sing's "...calling you down". Such a great voice for that part!
Alissa has my vote for the coolest chick in metal...great guest artist choice. She always makes me think of Harley Quinn (compliment) for some reason.
Cause both Alissa and Harley are badass?
Harley has way more of an adorableness factor (which reminds me way more of Elize), but I get what you're saying. Alissa's harsh vocals always sound unhinged, and she sounds like she has at least one mental breakdown per album, haha. It's a good thing though, makes her sound more awesome.
Not to mention - and this is just my personal opinion - she's also THE most beautiful lady of metal. Definitely dig her band Arch Enemy. Huge fan.
This becomes the sexiest video of all time at 4:08. Both of these people are gorgeous.
Wow.
Kamelot defends with a new and capable knight. Carry on. The Sentinels from America salute you. Metal forces unite. Metal is forever.
Am I the only one that gets teared up over this video?
Literally just came back from their concert here in Dallas! Absolutely amazing performance from everyone!
