There will never be another Roy Khan, he was in a class all his own. I will say this, he has raised that bar pretty high as far as the talented skills he has. Its a shame that I never got to see him live. I only discovered Kamelot a year ago.

One thing I would love is if they would re-release Karma, Epica and The Black Halo with a stronger mix on the kick drums and bass guitar. I guess I would also throw Silverthorn in for boosting the kick drums. Bass guitar sound is high enough in silverthorn as it drowns the low frequencies of the kick sometimes. I can barely hear them in Karma with a 12" subwoofer behind my seat.
See, this performance shows you what a true vocalist is. It's not about range wanking. The endurance this man has vocally, the fact that he can sing this properly live, his breath control, the way he can go into that beautiful falsetto from mix, back into mix, and then start belting at the start like it's nothing, his overall technique/skill, and the way he expresses each note is why Roy Khan is a god and so unique.
Regarding his voice Roy Khan had, in his past, years of classical studies and you can clearly hear that in this video ... he is an extraordinary singer, probably the best singer metal has ever had ....

Thomas has said in an interview that the Elizabeth trilogy is the work for which he is most proud. As one listens to the three pieces flow seamlessly into one another, the power, emotion and tension, you can see why he feels this way. A masterpiece of which he should be proud!

I said it before. Roy has the ability to take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. the range of emotions that he puts you through during each and every song just leaves you exhausted. when I am down in my darkest times Roy's voice is like the shining light that takes me out of that darkness.

Tyde To put it a bit differently, he of course sings but he's also going through all the emotions the song is conveying. Not many singers can do that. Apart from his awesome voice (top 3 singers ever in my book), that was something that really made him stand out. He also (co-)wrote a lot of the great lyrics for Kamelot.
It's a darn shame this song hasn't been in their sets in over 6 years. It's my favorite song they've ever done, and considering their catalog, that is quite impressive. That said, as much of a fan of Tommy as I am (even bigger than Roy), I think this song is Roy's and I think only he could do it at this level.
Roy's ability to convey the meaning and emotion of a song is without equal. The only other front man (or woman) I've ever seen who was even close was Freddie Mercury of Queen and that was a totally different era and genre of music. Roy Khan is truly an amazing talent!
Actually they are very similar. In 70s, Queen´s sound was very heavy and in their concerts they seemed a pure heavy metal band and freddie´s voice had little (proto) grouls mixed with his powerfull voice. Search FLICK OF THE WRIST live at rainbow 74. Roy and Freddie are my favorites singers.

don't get me started. When I and some metalhead friends of mine discovered Kamelot is going to play our country for the first time, I bought the tickets immediately. It was my fav metal band growing up. Month before the concert, Roy departed. We still went to the concert, Tommy was there, alas, our hearts were broken. There was a non VIP meet and greet with the bands, we got ours photos taken, the concert was great but it was literally the 1st or 2nd concert with Tommy.

This is Roy Khan at the pinnacle of his voice. It just can't get more better then that. After this his voice begun to weaken unfortunately... This concert is unbelievably legendary. All the people at that night won't forget that evening.

Just went to a Kamelot show last night here in Munich. I would have given everything to see them play Elizabeth and to hear Tommy's take on it. But they did play unexpectedly many of Roy's songs. Rule the World was second on the setlist, that took me by surprise.

To all, Roy is back with his old band Conception, they released songs last year and will release a full album next year (with a tour)! So we can all enjoy Roy's voice once more *giddy with glee*
I'd say symphonic metal, with elements of power, progressive and gothic metal all mingled together. But they're all just labels, doesn't really matter. This song is beautiful, and Khan's performance is beyond stellar. My favourite live performance of all time, how I wish I could have been there.

Only one other singer can match Roy when it comes to emotional intensity and that is Sir Russell Allen of Symphony x. Roy is amazing.
I so much agree. They're two of my top 3 favourite singers, the third being mr. Daniel Gildenlöw from Pain of Salvation, take a look at his performance of Undertow live at Masstival for more epic stuff.

To all, Roy is back with his old band Conception, they released songs last year and will release a full album next year (with a tour)! So we can all enjoy Roy's voice once more *giddy with glee*
I'd say symphonic metal, with elements of power, progressive and gothic metal all mingled together. But they're all just labels, doesn't really matter.
This song is beautiful, and Khan's performance is beyond stellar. My favourite live performance of all time, how I wish I could have been there.

What an exquisite performance. I swear this is the best & definitely interesting trilogy I've ever heard. Elizabeth II is my favorite. Both lyrics (chorus) & sounds won me over.
