Honestly, this does not apply only to Audi. If you spent 5 hours getting to something, might as well replace other small stuff there. $85 is not worth spending 5 hours disassembling it again.
Before we get all crazy I just wanted to let everyone know that 1) YES, I was really pulled over 2) The car wasn't registered so when they ran the VIN and it came up as an out of state car a whole bunch of red flags went off. Rightfully so. Big fat oof on my part.

That's the problem with police. They think you need to prove your innocence and they don't want to do any work to find out if you are guilty. Not carrying plates is a violation but the police want to also punish you for the inconvenience of them having to prove your innocence as far as vehicle theft goes.
Hit the mail in the e head there. No patience. Innocent til proven guilty. Also the guy has a full blown RUclips channel I’m sure 100 pictures of this car and not to mention calling the bank calling insurance, or even family to get picture of documents but no. He gets three cops behind him accusing him of car theft. Little too much for me.

All "pulling over right away" means is that you don't get extra charges like resisting arrest added to your record. I've seen many videos of people immediately pulling over and still having crap tons of drugs in their car. Just because they didn't run away doesn't mean they're completely innocent.

He can and should tow the car to a large PRIVATE parking lot for some low speed driving. Then move on over to a large empty stretch of road to test higher speeds. The cop should have stuck to the facts. The vehicle had no plates. It was registered out of state. That gives grounds to confiscate it and so I am doing so.

You are quite right. Where I come from, police call it 'cooling-off'. The stolen car is usually parked in plain sight, it might not be the most crowded place, but it's definitely not hidden. It sits there from few hours to few days, while car thieves keep an eye on it, also observing how 'hot' the circumstances are. If they notice that the car doesn't attract too much attention, police don't run back and forth to find it, they decide to relocate it to their safe place.
I love the the RS line of Audi. My step dad bought an Audi 200 turbo around 1986, couple years before I passed my test. Got to drive it a fair few times when I'd got some miles under my belt.
Was the first TURBO I had driven, it was like shit off a shovel. Can't imagine how fast some of the RS 6/7 & 8's must be. Beautiful car.

Had this exact same thing happen to me when I bought my first auction car... I had just gotten it fixed and wanted to take it for a spin but I didn’t want to wait to first get plates so I took it for a quick spin around my neighborhood. There happened to be a cop just as I was pulling back into my driveway. Thankfully he was understanding and he let me off the hook but he did give me a scolding for not having plates

Rich could have easily given the cops a run for their money in the RS7, but Rich would have no chance on foot in his sandals. It was good decision to pull over and surrender. This was one of the best cliff hangers on RUclips in a long time! I'm all on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episode of Audi RS7, hopefully someone will come up with Rich's bail money soon.
This video pisses me off, the same thing has happened to me. It's all at the discretion of the officer but you can hear the tone he had. I'll leave it at that.
I have to agree, the same thing happened to me when I was in high school. I had just got my first car running and took it out for a test drive. The officer was a jerk to me, I explained the situation to him and he didn’t care. He said he was going to impound my car but, then got a call and said it was more important and left. I was obeying all the traffic rules, which it looks like Rich was too. I got lucky but, Rich should at least get a chance to show the paperwork.

He had his chance to be a grade-A asshole, and he was going to do just that. Why didn't he just run the VIN? Because he knew he could get away with making Rich suffer, with his pathetic badge authority--likely the only power he's ever had in his life aside from treating his wife like shit. Plot twist: His wife is Rich's side piece. She loves giving rim jobs and never carries a toothbrush.

I have a 2010 Dodge Charger that I wanted to do some upgrades on, and the dealer told me that there is no way I can add things to the car like garage door opener, bluetooth, etc. I jumped in anyway, got lots of things turned on utilizing some software found on the web. I had to bring the car in for an airbag issue, and the techs were amazed that I had done all the stuff to the car. just goes to show that where there is a will, there is a way.
