I have a really funny story about this era of Paramore: So me and a buddy decided to go to warped tour one year (this is back in like 2005) I was big into thrash punk/metal then. We get to a Paramore tent and my friend grabs the CD (which was All We Know is Falling) and asks "are these guys any good?" and I reply (not knowing them but being the young music snob I was) "eh, they're alright but their lead singer is fucking HOT" and 5 seconds go by and I hear a "....thanks? I guess" and I look over and Hayley Williams is sitting there with some other guy kinda half laughing. That was the most embarrassed I've probably ever been.
When I went to Warped Tour in 2005 I walked past the Fueled by Ramen table and a man simply name "Metal" stopped me and my friends and handed us Paramore's "All We Know Is Falling" album and said... "You're going to want to know this cause these guys are going to be fucking huge someday"... we accepted the album... we listened... we loved... and he wasn't wrong... thank you Metal...
I'm kinda mad the PC version didn't include that version of Pressure. I could've become a fan a couple of years earlier (I only knew them during the Riot! era).
My absolute favorite era of theirs, I still love Hayley and Paramore but this is where it all started! It's wild to me that they've been around for so long that there are younger Paramore fans who only know their new stuff / have never listened to AWKIF. Loved them since 2006 when my scene girl neighbor showed them to me!
I feel you and same. To this day this is still my favorite paramore album.its just soooo good. I remember high school me listening to this album. Here I am 16 years later still listening to them! That’s half my life lol
Paramore is basically the whole reason I know any of the bands from this era. I remember being so obsessed with them and especially Hayley when I was younger. To this day, all those old and unreleased songs are burned into my brain. My mouth opens and I become possessed by Hayley at any starting note of these. Love this video ! I used to geek so hard on the live shows on RUclips. I never saw them until the AL era and I was honestly really sad to know I can never experience the AWN and RIOT era the way I used to imagine. Hayley honestly was my sexual awakening for women and to this day I feel like her character really shaped who I am today. Literally she has the most powerful beautiful satisfying female punky voice that’s not raspy. Glad someone’s doing a lil deep dive into the live shows and the era overall. I probably have permanent brain damage from learning that headbang and doing it every day from the ages of 11-14. I really Miss these days sooo much. Life was just so good. Nothing truly can beat hearing these bangers for the first time and learning them to sing and download on my MP3 player. It’s cool to grow up with the band though, i wouldn’t like the old music if it was new today bc I now know actual punk rock bands of the genre (no diss just paramore is not punk it’s alt lol) and music but I’m honestly glad I got introduced to loving rock sounding music they them. Forever Stan Paramore !
I saw Paramore open for Simple Plan in 2005, AWKIF had just come out and myself and like 5 or 6 other people were the only ones who met them at their booth after their set. Loved this era and that was such a good moment tbh
The 3 starting songs in this album is such a vocal powerhouse. This album did not get recognition it truly deserved and I've always thought that this is what truly defined Paramore while RIOT! put them in the map
I’ve been a ride or die for paramore since day 1 so this makes me so happy 🤘🏼 the fact that Zac was 11 and could drum like that is absolutely mind blowing and it’s all I can think of when I listen to the album.
I only started to follow Paramore around 2009-10 I was eleven or twelve at the time. I still remember hunting down their previous records on my old computer. To this day one of my favorite songs were from the demos. And I felt so badass stumbling on them all on my own at that age lol.
the demos mentioned 'adore' 'my number 1' 'hello hello' are Hayley demos that she wrote without the band when she was forced to leave and go solo for a short while. The better songs like hallelujah and here we go again were written with josh
I've been a fan of Paramore for a long time and it's great to know more facts about the All We Know Is Falling era. One of the things I was unaware of was that Hallelujah was written and performed way before Riot was released. That explains why Hayley vocals had a different tone and the whole song had a different vibe.
Thanks for doing this! I was a fan during this era and it was so magical. Not sure if anyone mentioned this but the early demos you mentioned actually aren't paramore demos, they are Hayley Williams demos only. That's why they sound avril lavigne-ish, I believe she was the only one signed on the label and they wanted her to have a solo career, she wanted to be in a band. So those demos got scrapped. I believe she talks about this in an mtv interview somewhere!
Seen them in Barrie Ontario, canada 2007 warped tour promoting riot. Was super cool that Hailey said she realized they got free water while we had to pay four bucks a bottle so threw like a case and a half of water bottles into the crowd.
They came out the door with a great quality that not a lot of other bands were able to get down. You started pretty much saying this as I was typing it out lol so like you mentioned, from their sound, composition, stage presence, etc. They were so full of charm and and definitely deserved to hit charts earlier
It makes you instantly listen to the albums in order and silently see how similar your critique is to his lol i dig how he does band career break down this way
Definitely an amazing album. My heart is a great closer, conspiracy is one of the top tracks, emergency has a beautiful chorus, pressure's bridge where she sings "some things I'll never know" is incredibly honest, Here we go again and Whoa are definitely fun to listen to. As far as it being dated, thats what makes it even better. You can instantly recognize it from the sound that it is a different time, early to mid 2000s, classic at this point. Franklin is also very calm. They are heavyweights, you really can't beat em.
AWKIF is sooo underrated and yet one of the most meaningful and full of soul album debut, paramore from the very beginning creates quality while being catchy songs TO THIS DATE, so sad for the people that overlook them just because its a frontwoman band
There's a cool interview with Jason Bynum from November 2020 on the Time Machine podcast with Andrew Green. He talks a lot about the early days before AWKIF, recording the album, why he left, etc.
Discovered this album by hearing the Simlish version of Pressure on The Sims 2 for PS2. Been a fan ever since, and I can’t wait to hear the next record~
Dude, you're like a walking encyclopedia but with feelings lol. Loved this video I remember gushing over AWKIF when I first heard it last year. Certainly one of the best band album debuts right up there with The Academy Is, Brand New, FOB etc. You made a point that I've felt like I was onto something but never really got it from the tip of my tongue and it's this album's theme being childlike innocence (because they were just starting out) It's something super fucking dope and bodacious and I definitely loved it even more when I found it out. Edit: holy shit that forum part at the end was hilarious and somewhat nostalgic.
I didn’t get into Paramore until Riot came out, but I always enjoyed this album more, it’s my second favorite of theirs after Brand New Eyes. It’s just a great no-frills emo pop rock record with no weak links in the tracklist. And Absolutepunk is such a blast of nostalgia. Great vid.
Ayy finally caught one right after you uploaded, i love this album so much and Hayley will forever be my biggest crush. Id love a vid in this style about the Lesson In Romantics era of Mayday, or anything by All Time Low.
I remember seeing the music video for Pressure on Steven’s Untitled Rock Show and I instantly fell in love with the band. I put the music video on my iPod Video and showed it to my friends at school. No one knew who they were at the time. I am literally known as the kid who made people find out about, and fall in love with, Paramore at my middle school haha All We Know Is Falling is hands down my favorite Paramore record.
Great upload as always. Now do My American Heart lol. But seriously, I remember Paramore touring with MAH back then because most of the guys from MAH went to my high school. I didn’t get into Paramore until later but when I first heard “All We Know is Falling”, I loved it. The album was so good, front to back. The fact that they wrote this album at such a young age really speaks volumes on how they’ve been able to consistently write good music, album to album.
Mineral 'EndSerenading' is the alltime great emo album for me. I do love your videos and you got me into Jonny Craig a year ago and now I own all of his stuff and even have the demo versions of the second Emarosa album playing in my car constantly.
Hayley’s mom was definitely doing merch on that AWKIF cycle with My American Heart. And I am pretty sure I saw my nose in the live footage from Obsessions haha
Ah man, I have the most incredible memories of this album and Paramore in general at this time in my life. They were my favourite band for so many years. I remember my dad taking me to see them live with my sister for my first proper concert in 2009. It was incredible! Was so nice seeing this video. It was always one of my favourites by them. Franklin is another one from that album that I'll always love. It's got such a sad feeling about it that I used to connect to so much in my dark early teens, that fear of everything changing. The Summer Tic EP was amazing too, loved the cover of Stuck On You. I was so happy when I got hold of the (at the time) only pressing of AWKIF on vinyl, the original green version. Wasn't for a couple years that the others started coming out, but man I searched so long and hard for that! Still have it now. I got so much from this era, like the original 7" pressing of Emergency just to get O'Star on vinyl too, but it was so damaged I had to send it back. I was so gutted about that! And I got this CD/vinyl hybrid version of Misery Business with the worsttt pressing of This Circle on it, just so I could listen to it on vinyl, but god it was such a dogshit pressing. Good times :)
looking forward to your coverage of the other eras! they tie w/ hop along and the strokes for my favorite band - they're one emo act i never grew out of. keep it up!!
Bands like this make me wish I born just a few years before i was to fully appreciate them! Absolutely love paramore this album to i think is my favourite out of them all has so many songs i love on it!
This album made me a fan. My teenage self was bitter that I had to share them with the rest of the world when they blew up with Riot 😅 But they deserve every bit of success they’ve received

I've been watching you're channel for quite awhile now and I'm so happy I had randomly come across it one day. Not only do you cover any and all things emo/pop punk (which for me already makes ur channel a 10/10 for me), but the time and effort you put into the research for ur videos and is amazing and really shows in the end result. You're well spoken, informative and I love that you delve (in meticulous detail), into the grass roots eras and albums of bands, no matter how much time has passed...showing how timeleaa a band's freshman releases can be and how it shaped them into the bands they are today. Just here to let you know your videos and effort are much appreciated my dude, please keep up the great work 🙏....this video alone just earned you one more subscriber 🤘
Great vid my man! I've recently gotten into Paramore and can't stop listening to them. All We Know Is Falling I think has a great sound still to this day. Even though that sound isn't big anymore, it doesn't mean it's bad. So yeah, cool to have more insight on them. Once again, awesome vid!
First of all, thank you for making this?!? Loved every second of it! Second, I actually enjoy this album more now than I did back then. Maybe I was too young, now I listen to it when I'm in my nostalgia feels. Also for some reason I, out of all the songs I could've picked, Hello Hello was on REPEAT on my lil mp3 player...? 🤷🤷🤷 14:58 That Emergency performance is one of my favs, they look like babies 😭
I didn't get into Paramore until Misery Business, but I will say, seeing that video on Fuse (and that other late night MV channel that had the chat room you could text into) all summer long and then seeing them live at Warped in 07 was pretty awesome. Born for This still brings back the memory, that was the first time hearing the song and I think was their closing song? Anyway, loved this album too, definitely spoke to my 15yo sadboy self lol.
Just found your channel and am obsessed! I was heavily into this whole scene and am amazed by some of the bands you name drop. Please you have to make a Spotify playlist or something haha
I bet it was probably extremely awkward after Jeremy came back when they played all we know is falling songs knowing some of them are kind of about him 😂
i know it’s not exactly emo but there is literally no videos on youtube explaining the story of 3Oh3 like i am so curious about their career and i feel like you could be the one to do it.
27:16 I think "crab mix" refers to the term "crabcore," which is apparently a meme name for metalcore bands that play guitar while squating in a crab-like position. I'm guessing the screams in that version of Emergency are why it got titled as "crab mix."
I’m just dumbfounded that a literal child could write and perform hallelujah. Wow.
Right? She’s a damn prodigy.
I have a really funny story about this era of Paramore:

LMAO DYING
LMA
OMG jajajaha
That's awkward lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This made my Day

That metal guy predicted something that's gonna happen 2 years later lol
I just realized you’ve never explored my chemical romances career, PLEASE DO IT
^^^
I've been waiting for this
Plzzzz
WELL IZ HAPPENED NOW
@@ajinmericancitizen8723 oh I know lol
I remember first hearing Paramore on the console version of Sims 2 in 2005. I could probably still sing Pressure in simlish to this day
I'm kinda mad the PC version didn't include that version of Pressure. I could've become a fan a couple of years earlier (I only knew them during the Riot! era).
Yessss! Been looking for this comment - that's how I first heard of them!

Hayley is the shit! She still pops up at shows in Nashville and is super friendly and humble
I saw Paramore open for Simple Plan in 2005, AWKIF had just come out and myself and like 5 or 6 other people were the only ones who met them at their booth after their set. Loved this era and that was such a good moment tbh

I’m was just coming into the scene when they released Brand New Eyes
I'm gonna need you to cover the rest of Paramore history, cause I love your videos/perspective.
29:05 that poster has “black and blue or gold” under their name and i immediately thought of the dress but surely not in 2006, right?
I would kill for a copy of that summer tic EP CD, 'this circle' is one of my favorite songs ever of theirs

thank you! :)

Now we've taken this so far don't you know how much I love this video, Paramore has been my favorite band since I was 8 in 2008.
more paramore pls!!!
There's a cool interview with Jason Bynum from November 2020 on the Time Machine podcast with Andrew Green. He talks a lot about the early days before AWKIF, recording the album, why he left, etc.

Best Friday surprise. Love that you get to cover Paramore

Here we go again and Emergency are still some of my fave Paramore songs.
This album made me a fan. My teenage self was bitter that I had to share them with the rest of the world when they blew up with Riot 😅 But they deserve every bit of success they’ve received
Damn Cozy out here producing all the content that I absolutely fuck with! Keep it up man
I wish someone would make a video like that about VerseEmerge, they weren't that big but I remember when they came out, people would always compare them to Paramore

Bro. I’m always blown away by how great and detailed your videos are.
You are the best.
God hello hello takes me back to middle school.
I absolutely loved this breakdown! It reminded me why I love them so much and how incredibly innovated they were, especially at such a young age. I'd love to see you go through the rest of their discography!
Damn Hayley really can sing, always blew me away!
16:56 Is literally the performance where I found out about this band!
Oh awesome!!! Paramore is my fav band :-)
Very detailed and informative video, my dude! Absolutely loved it! Never knew all these history behind Paramore's early days! Fuck ya!
I saw Paramore at the Phoenix in Toronto, Canada with The Starting Line and Set Your goals in October 2007, a few months after RIOT came out. All We Know Is Falling still felt like a super underground record that none of my friends knew about, and I remember not even really knowing they had released an even newer record a few months earlier at the time. Everyone in the crowd knew every lyric to every one of their songs and I was like.. Oh damn, these guys are going to be huge.
One of the most amazing live bands I've ever seen though. Hands down best vocalist. I bought this t-shirt that said Crush Crush Crush on it just to say that I got something. I had no clue man. It's amazing.
Also, I discovered the album Direction by The Starting Line at that show and along with AWKIF remains one of my favorite albums to this day.
Great stuff man.
literally still one of my favorite albums of all time. i'm so glad you made this video
I love these videos, it makes me want to listen to these albums all over again!
Omg please do a video on The Matches. I love them SO much, and it makes me sad they didn't gain a huge following. They were such a talented band!
Fav band, fav album. My heart is definitely my favorite song lol
Thank you so much!! I appreciate this
Such an awesome video!!! Thank you for making it!!!!! Hope you make one for Riot as well!!!
You should do one for hey monday! :D
Another one of my favourite artists, great insight, thank you. At this rate I’ll expect the Versaemerge video any time now 😄
Great vid my man! I've recently gotten into Paramore and can't stop listening to them. All We Know Is Falling I think has a great sound still to this day. Even though that sound isn't big anymore, it doesn't mean it's bad. So yeah, cool to have more insight on them. Once again, awesome vid!
6:50 AM here, great vídeo!
Literally saw this video and screamed 😍❤
i love this channel. You da' best !
So glad I was around for this era. Will always be my favorite.
Thankyou so much!! This is my 3rd favourite album by them💕
I LOVEEE Paramore! Hope you do all of their eras! Thanks for this video! :)
I am floored I loveeeeee Paramore
First of all, thank you for making this?!? Loved every second of it! Second, I actually enjoy this album more now than I did back then. Maybe I was too young, now I listen to it when I'm in my nostalgia feels. Also for some reason I, out of all the songs I could've picked, Hello Hello was on REPEAT on my lil mp3 player...? 🤷🤷🤷
14:58 That Emergency performance is one of my favs, they look like babies 😭
We need cozy merch.. i for one think a shirt that sez COZY REPRESENTING
Thank you! I don’t come across many paramore videos like this!
Thank you for this :)
Finally, omfg yes, it's time to get cozy.
Panic at the Disco and Paramore albums are ones I always go back to.
Just found your channel and am obsessed! I was heavily into this whole scene and am amazed by some of the bands you name drop. Please you have to make a Spotify playlist or something haha
Videos just keep rolling in! I loved the style of last week's panic video and glad you did one for paramore this week.
11:32 Say what you want about John Hembree, but in this clips his tone and performance is on point and he is playing with his fingers!
Bump for this. Big big bump for this 💪🏻
Me and my sister have loved Paramore since 2008 please do Riot next
I love your ETID hat, when's the video happening Julien???
You do great work man! Keep it up!!
ANGST. That’s what was in the water
ohh i already love your channel, very interesting. i think hayley would love this video lol
I love this album, Franklin is by far my favorite song by them
very excited for this one!!
My honest opinion about the bands you cover to me all their first albums are all their best albums
I remember all the Riot, crush music video commercials on Discovery channel between watching myth busters back in the day.
Which episode was it that PunkRockMBA shouted you out?
haha i believe it was a "channel update" type video he did earlier this year... that was very nice of him! :)
@@thecozyrep Found it! Things You Didn’t Know About Me is the title. Super dope!
Fuck this is so good I love this album but I hope you do a vid for the RIOT! era too.. pop punk masterpiece
27:16 I think "crab mix" refers to the term "crabcore," which is apparently a meme name for metalcore bands that play guitar while squating in a crab-like position. I'm guessing the screams in that version of Emergency are why it got titled as "crab mix."
you should explore silverstein's discovering the waterfront or when broken is easily fixed era
