"Now my bitter hands cradle broken glass of what was everything. All the pictures have been washed in black, tattooed everything. All the love gone bad, turned my world to black, tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll be." I mean godDAMN...might be the saddest lyrics ever. Eddie is a real one.
All the Seattle\grunge era bands really put a lot into the lyrics of their songs. It's difficult to say who is "best". I feel lucky to have been around during that time.
My bestfriend & Roommate worked for SONY which is how we got in to the taping. Little did we know how classic this, Nirvana & Stone Temple Pilots would become. 😞 and no, didn't do Bowie Live By Request taping because only Mgt got those tickets. 😊🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
I'm so glad you did this!!! Lead singer is Eddie Vedder- he's amazing. Great singer and activist. Check out the Unplugged of 'Porch'. The official video of 'Jeremy' is a must to understand the meaning of the song, and then the Unplugged version to appreciate his passion and talent singing it
My goodness. That kind of loss is perfectly expressed in this song. Never loses its power, even after all the years as time has treaded on. Most all of us has felt this way at one time or another, . Convinced you won't survive it. It's why everyone falls all the way in for this song. BLACK🖤🖤🖤 perfect description.
We've all been through that emotion.. You haven't truly loved until you felt heartbreak. And Eddie Vedder along with the guys of pearl jam captured that emotion. Most folks who react to this video.. it will only really click until they get to that lyric " I know you'll have a beautiful life, i know you'll be a star in someone else's sky, but why why whyy can't it beeee mineeee".. But relisten to the song again.. and it starts to click as soon as he humming starts. He starts off a bit positive, but when he starts humming you just know it's not gonna end happy.
One of my favourite lyrics "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky, but why, why, why can't it be mine". Beautiful and heartbreaking.
Yes, Eddie Vedder has a voice that you instantly know it's him when you hear him!!❤❤ YOU'VE GOT TO HEAR THEM DO "JEREMY" it's his take on a couple of true stories!!! He's an amazing writer too, he knows how to tell the story even with just his voice! I've always loved his voice!!! I'm a new sub😀✌
I loved your reaction. And you’re right anyone who’s ever been truly heartbroken this is how they feel. And Eddie Vedder’s voice just hits you right in the soul. Yes to more Pearl Jam. Thank you so much for sharing with us.❤️😀👍✌️🌼Love and peace
Excellent reaction! You should check out more of this video/performance. I love the song "State of Love and Trust" from this unplugged show! You should react to that one too. And, check out "Jeremy" from this! Keep going!
This song got me threw a break up after 9 years and 2 kids together. I will never make the same mistake I made that ended those 9 years ever again. It was the worse feeling in the world seeing her move on and be happy in another mans arms.... but we live and we learn, dust ourselves off and keep moving forward. Great reaction btw Cheers! 🍻
This came out when I was in high school, and the album and ESPECIALLY the "Unplugged" changed my life. I literally stood in front of the TV in our living room holding my boom box, taping it from the TV audio for the whole hour show (which, PLEASE watch the whole hour, it's perfect.)
I was in Australian high school when it came out but we didn't have MTV. A local underground record store got a copy of the show and showed it in their store one night to about 40 fans.
I watched him do this song last year at about this time at Ohana. He changes some of the vocal schemes around because he's older now (my age, 55) but the power and depth are still all there. And he can still hit the high notes when he chooses too. He's amazing and he and the band have written so much brilliant music since this. (A few clunkers) But they never needed to be "famous". That's why I think a lot of younger people are just discovering them now.
I know it's been a year since you did this video, but I had to comment anyway. I really appreciated your reaction, it felt like you were relating to the song so much. The line where he talks about being the stars in someone else's sky is the part that gets me every single time. It's a good song to get some tears out if you need to. Reminds us of what we have that we are grateful for, as well as the pain we've been through. Thanks again, great reaction. - Chelsea

I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star, in somebody else sky but why can't it be in mine.." Quite possibly the bestest line in the history of heartbreaking pop music.
I love this version. You can really feel the emotion of the song/lyrics and he does put his soul into it here. If you want a real intense song...Jeremy by Pearl Jam. A fun song is Even Flow by Pearl Jam. Thank you so much for your reaction!

Don't forget singer Scott Weiland (of Stone Temple Pilots) gone from overdose. And singer Andrew Wood (of Mother Love Bone) gone from overdose. Such terrible, terrible losses that hit so many so hard. : (

Extremely powerful song. I get chills every time I hear it.
