I also kind of like the distinct look but it doesn't match well with color schemes on modern gaming PCs with all the rainbow rgbs etc. They usually stand out a lot since nothing really matches it. But the all Noctua pc Linus built looked really great since those parts actually matched and that's most people's problem. I think the look is fine on its own

I got a NH-D15 SE-AM4 on my AMD 1800x and ASUS C6H and that thing has ran like SMOOTH Butter since DAY 1 ! My STRIX RX480 makes more noise WHEN it winds up,in games, and only 50% of the time. My Power Supply NEVER RUNS during operation, only a check spin on start-up. If you curious,it's a Corsair AX1500i, BAD A$$ and VERY efficient !
But that NEW chunk of SWEET metal when i 1rst saw it,made my heart drop to the floor ! DAM I WANT IT !! That WILL be on my next 7000XTX build ! It was JUST what i was hoping for, then they made it ! THANKS NOCTUA, DE BAUER, & THERMAL GRIZZLY ! This Combo is the SNITZ !! 😎

2:17 Seems like the cooling pipe orientation would work far better if rotated 90 degrees, since the heat area over the CPU dies is a wide rectangle. Rotated every cooling pipe would run over part of the dies.

From my experience even the slightest crack on the die will cause issues that sometimes are not obvious or instant. I worked at a tech company that refurbished laptops, and correct placement of the heatsink was very important, a slight misalignment and the tiniest crack that's visible only under high magnification could cause issues like random freezes, blue screens, crashes etc. The bad thing is that sometimes this doesn't happen right away after assembling the heatsink, the device may seem that it's functioning. So if you get issues after cleaning your unprotected (without IHS) cpu or gpu and you get normal temperatures, you probably damaged your dies. I definitely recommend the protective frame at all costs, since this is a very expensive damage, and you get no warranty whatsoever.

Thermal Grizzly and Noctua are both Premium brands I think. TG has so much stuff you don't really need but is nice to have if you are willing to pay the prices. Noctua has some pretty neat things and keep the cooler compatibility, which is great. The collab makes total sense to me, bring awesome Products together, make them plug and play for the enthusiasts and ask your price on it. no more guess for the customer and more business for all the involved manufacturers. I like it.

The real funny thing about "delidded" cpu's is that they were actually officially produced for some time in the early 2000's. AMD came from the lidded K6-3 to the delidded Athlon T-bird and went back to lidded with the Athlon 64. Intel came from the slotted Pentium 2 to the delidded Pentium 3 and back to the lidded Pentium 4.
Bottom line, I actually broke a duron and a t-bird thanks to their mounting system and the delidded cpu's. They were actually RMA'd without any question when the reason was the mounting. Funny how things evolve over time. I guess both Intel and AMD learned their lesson back in the day. But man ... I still recall the first cpu's water blocks were made during that era. Overcloking went crazy because of both delidded cpu's and water blocks. And unlocking the T-bird with a pencil now seems like a joke but it was damn fun back then XD
