What’s most heartbreaking is that he only asks about his wife and doesn’t acknowledge about his disfigurement.
Love man. I don’t think many people feel that kind of love. It’s strong. Everyone says he was just horny blah blah blah. But if that was the case he could have fucked anyone. He loved her. He says “please just help me save her. I can’t live without her”. He truly was in love with Padme.
That's why he did all this
Very tragic. He committed all those atrocities for absolutely nothing
What worst is that image 00:01 is was the Anakin's dream. Means that Anakin dream was him killed Padme

@@MrIGHOSH1 i personally think that Vader took her life force in order to survive. He found a way to save himself from death, but by sacrificing what he loves which is like the inverse of the Darth Plagueis story
@@WafflePrince It's all up to interpretation but I never liked the idea of him taking her life force, cause obviously he would rather die and keep her alive than live with her passing. Palpatine killing her makes the most sense because that was the very last thing Anakin cared about and without her he can completely tap into his hate, anger, and destruction that would soon follow. Hence Palps smile we see kinda signaling in getting everything that he wanted with complete control over Anakin.

It gets memed so much but this scene is so incredibly full of pure, raw emotion. Imagine you just hear your wife had just died with your child almost born, how would that feel?
Like a hole in your heart that will never be filled ever again, and the pain and agony will only worsen with each coming day.
And that you were the one who killed her no less
Not only that but that it was your fault

1:09 For a few seconds, Palpatine is clearly afraid to deliver the bad news. Anakin had joined him on the sole promise to save Padmé. He could turn against the Emperor at any time to kill him.
However, when Vader starts to walk out try to cry / scream, Palpatine knows Vader is still his puppet, so he smiles to his victory
I think in the book Darth Vader actually attacks Palpatine for lying to him only for him to be put back in his place
He attacks palpatines and gets destroyed
He loses it and Palps hits him with that unlimited power

Its a mixture of him not being accustomed to his body yet, and deep down not wanting to kill palpatine, because palpatine is all there is left for him. In Legends Palpatine vs Vader is still very much a debate. Yea yea "well lucas said 80%" okay cool. But Vaders biggest weakness against Palpatine was always palpatines manipulation of him. And it was stated numerous times in various legends material that vader was stronger than Anakin ever was.
If the two were to ever REALLY fight, no mind games involved, regardless who you think would win or why... nobody is putting anybody in check.

The fall of the greatest Jedi there ever was. These prequels get a lot of unnecessary hate, they have a really good story overall
They aged like fine wine. The problem was the actor for anakin was a bit awkward but that’s because he was a teen in the second movie. Overall good
Yes and no. Yes the story by Lucas sounds amazing on paper but no because his directing and its execution wasn’t quite that good. But luckily Clone Wars did redeemed these movies and made it even more compelling.
The prequels showed us a lot more lightsaber battles and fighters , the original trilogy we only had 3 lightsaber wielders kenobi, Vader and Luke that’s it , the prequels have at least 5x their numbers way more epic

If you really look at this scene in depth...Padme and Anakin died together, only Anakin died in a different form. A form of a ruling Sith tyrant. And you can also hear the final words of Anakin inside the helmet when he asked about Padme. So techaniclly it was Anakin for a few seconds and then finally evolved more into the Vader we know. Leaving his past behind him. And it was true what Padme said before she dies. "I know there still good in him" Obi Wan knew it, Luke knew it and deep down I think Anakin knew it too. Palpatine didn't drive the good out of him entirely like Luke said in ROTJ. Which is why it makes Revenge of the Sith and Return of the Jedi connect to deeply with each other in my opinion.
Because he knew everything he did. All those bad things, betraying everyone he knew and his loved ones was all for nothing he got played, and now that padme is gone forever and his unborn child. So was his humanity, then he fully embraced the dark side as it was the only thing he had to live for.
Obi wan actually gave up on Anakin being redeemable. Only Anakin’s family believed there was still good in him
Not died actually. He will return...
I think, Anakin has turned the dark side, when he cut Windu's arm off and let Darth Sidious to rise. He died during the Great Jedi Purge.
Actually obi wan didn't believe in the good that was left in anakin. In fact, as he was watching palpatine torture luke with force lightning, he lost hope, thinking luke was gonna die, but then was amazed when vader suddenly grabbed palpatine and yeeted him into the shaft. He then realized the extent of his and yoda's failures as jedi
This scene was so well done. John Williams also knows how to make a scene 100x more epic.
The death of Padme and the rise of Darth Vader. The apparent true end of Anakin Skywalker until he redeemed himself by killing the Emperor much later.
(Did Sidious actually manipulate the force to save Vader’s life by killing Padme or did she actually die from a broken heart or that force choke?)
They set up sidious using the force to save vader with the story of "Darth Plagueis the Wise" who could prevent the death of those he cared about. A power you can not learn from a jedi. Why would a life saving force power be rejected out of hand by the jedi? Because in order to save Vader, Sidious had to kill Padme. IMO the "died of a broken heart" idea is ridiculous when there is an in universe explanation that covers all the bases.
@@MistrDamige Yeah I thought it was daft for a long time, "Lost the will to live?". But when I heard this theory and looked again, it makes sense as the mask is lowered onto Anakin and then Padme dies. 2 beats become 1 and in the death of both of them Robotic Vader rises. Also the Emperor is somehow aware Padme is dead for sure even though they are quite far away so he must be attuned - though intriguingly not Luke and Leia

Han Solo: My son is alive.
Honestly the saddest part is when Vader literally crushes everything in the room, you can clearly tell he wants to even kill Palpatine, after all his plan he told padme was that he'd overthrow palps and rule with her. He is now left in a room with the one man he wanted to overthrow, and who just told him that the one he wanted to rule with is dead by his own hand. I feel at that moment any semblance of a plan left his mind and he wanted to crush palps then and there, but he couldn't, because palpatine was so much stronger in the force, and he smiles at the attempt.
I believe in the comics vader actually force pushes palps after the his scream and i always thought palpatine smiled because he's glad that anakin still has a lot of power left in him
@Kyra actually that’s only half correct, as in the darth Vader comic he immediately force push Palpatine to the wall and blames him for failing to save Padme like he promised. Palpatine then shifts the blame back to Vader, claiming that since he killed Padme even the dark side couldn’t bring her back. Palpatine then use force lightning on Vader, punishing him for daring to use the force on THE Emperor, while also telling Vader that if he so much as lift a finger on the Emperor again, he will finish what Kenobi couldn’t, foreshadowing ROTJ.
Palpatine smiled because he put Anakin in deep depression. That is all the devil wants to do, put people in depression. Palpatine truly deserves the most painful of torment.
@@michaelreyes6649 i prefer Legends one , this did not occur
I think when padme died a part of anikan died with her and he became a slave to sideous. losing all hope after her passing.
in episode 6 he even told luke it was to late for him now as if he gave up hope after he lost everything to sideous believing his promise which was a lie that he could have saved her. But when luke showed him the truth he finally found the will to be himself again and finished what he was meant to do and bring balance to the force by taking out sideous.
it was almost redemption for him and padme and everyone he made him kill through his deceptions. Thats atleast how i saw it before disney came into the picture.
1:43 this bastard is going to laugh and smile at Anakin's pain
Because some believe Palpatine was responsible for Padme death.
In his anger he killed her.
Of course he does. Palpatine/Sidious is the Star Wars Version of Satan
No, he’s smiling at the power Vader is displaying. He knows he picked the best apprentice possible and is proud of him. In a sick, sith like way
It's so dumb. What if Anakin suddenly turned to him in that moment? Aaaaawkwaaaard. As if the most evil and powerful person in the universe would risk losing everything by smirking behind his pupil's back like that. People don't do that in real life. It's such poor writing + acting + directing. Even within one of the poorest scenes in the whole prequel trilogy. This is right up there with any Jar-Jar scene.
If Disney will ever pull a powerful scene like this one... it will redeem its sins. And it will have the fans respect.
I'm not even sure they want to try it. If you think about it this at that time was the sixth and last film of the franchise.Despite episode 1,2 fans were still pumped for the origin of vader,it took a looot of build up to come to this moment. The new sequels, despite being mediocre imo, they lack both quality and quantity to pull off something like that.Even If you love kylo and rey,I think their story arc was overshadowed by luke leia han chewie.I would love to be surprised by abrams but I doubt it.In episode 7 the studio focused on fan service, and now after the dissapointment of TLJ i don't think they will do anything different.

The powerful music and imagery here is so profound. It shows the painful irony of the dark side. Anakin did what he did to save his wife, but since it was done with the selfish desire and motives of the dark side, he rises from his wounds, and she falls in death. The dark side is truly only capable of saving yourself, not others. One of the best Star Wars scenes. Brilliant.

Fun Fact from comics : after nooooo Vader attacked Palpatine but he got destroyed with lighting
What's very clever about this is that while Sidious is undertaking his machinations to kill Padme to preserve/raise Vader, he doesen't realise the Light side machinations by the Whills or whoever have also designed that death also gives rise to a new life - in this case Luke and Leia. It's fascinating that just as the Jedi didn't see the Sith plot, not only was Sidious unaware of Luke and Leia until Luke destroyed the Death Star but in Roth most particularly he couldn't sense Luke around and it was Vader who sensed Luke was on the ship specifically.

You thought you were saving your wife. You gave into your fear, not realizing that was the only action that would bring about your nightmares. All of a sudden, you wake up almost in a new body, out of a bad dream, only to realize you lost the person it was all for while you lost yourself. And the worst part, you did it under the manipulation of Satan himself. Now, not powerful enough for revenge… maybe never. You lean into his teachings after giving up hope. The only thing left is your fear and hatred… and hatred for yourself, the strongest kind, because your fear has come true… you are alone.

The events leading up to this point is a reminder for me of how what we fear will appear. The whole reason Skywalker fell into darkness is because he feared the death of his wife. Bail Organa: My wife and I will take the boy. We’ve always talked about adopting a baby boy. He will be loved with us.
I swear the vocal part in the ost is identical to the scene where Thulsa Doom kills Conan's mother in Conan the Barbarian... Seeing as how James earl Jones is also Darth Vader and kills Luke's mother, very big coincidence 🤔
This is without a doubt, one of the most gut wrenching scenes in the series. The fact that he loved her so much and went through all of that, only to lose her, and the children she bore for him. Whats even more sinister, is the emperor, grimacing as he turns the knife telling Vader he killed her. His scream in anguish was a killer because he knew in that moment he lost everything, including his soul to the evil emperor. Just gut wrenching.
So Padmé and Anakin died and Darth Vader is born before original trilogy 😢 rest in peace 😢💐🕊️💐💐
When the operating table completes lifting Vader to his feet it sounds like a jail cell door slamming shut.
Padme died of sadness, because She was present at the greatest lightsaber duel of all time but missed it!!!
The fact that Luke/Leia were crying after Padme's death killed me..

Lord Vader can you hear me.
This is my favorite Palpatine moment. How he smiles at anakin s misery. I love it
This was the last time he ever mentioned her. 💔
He said at his mother's grave he wouldn't FAIL in losing someone HE LOVED. *But he failed, because it wasn't in HIS CONTROL. A mistake that HUMANITY still CAN'T UNDERSTAND.
Here's how it should have ended.
Padme gives birth to two babies. They're healthy, strong in the force and....black!?
Mace's force ghost appears to Vader. "Surprise, mudda-fucca!"
Goddammit Anakin, you had one job
"wait in the council chambers until we return."
:( one Job anakin, one job
At that point I'm taking galactic conquest as my runner-up prize screw palpatine I joined him for one reason and he failed at keeping her alive. And given how angry Vader was I think he would only think about his own blame after the fact
1:44 ahh yes famous line: NOOOOOO
1:46 Me when I find out how long it's gonna take until "Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire" comes out.

I wonder how Qui Gon would react about Anakin/Darth Vader.
