@@di-and-shy9640 15 years ago, Star Wars and George Lucas were hated on a lot more than the sequels are. It seems lately that I hear a lot of praise for them. I call it "Fickle Fan Syndrome">
@@hiswayservicesblog9288 this is where I don't agree because Palpatine was right when he said Anakin's anger killed her, Anakin didn't kill her but she died because she didn't have the will to live anymore, Palpatine would've accepted Padmé to be with him and Vader.
The prequels have their flaws, granted. But who was Darth Vader? A man? A machine? A monster? We couldn't tell. What did we knew of him? Nothing. What did we thought of him. To be pure evil. The original trilogy brought us this being, like he hailed from the void to oppress worlds and sould with his presence, and he did. All that lacked to our vision was how he was created. A question that the prequels brought us. The tragedy of the chosen one, who gave up his existence to save the only thing he cared about, and destroyed it. Vader would not be half the character he is now whithout the prequels. No one can take that away from them!
Le Silverhand the sequels have way more flaws, which make the prequels look like a walk in the park. Even the OT has its flaws, but nowhere compared to the others. No Star Wars movie is entirely perfect. That’s what makes them special.
I think you got it backwards. He lost everything he loved because he made critical mistakes, namely failing to think through his fear, failing to set aside his obsessive need to protect, and forgetting that you can't save someone by sacrificing what they'd die for.
@@Metalpazallteway Generalizations like that one are generally stupid, and you are just flat wrong in this case. Anakin very definitely and willingly chose to serve Palpatine in the hopes of saving Padme via the dark side because he had seen visions of her death and was afraid of losing her.
Hayden was a great actor and nobody can convince me otherwise. Not only did he deliver the angst of a young adult perfectly, but he also played the menacing part of the dark side within himself which later became Vader. George Lucas made many mistakes, but not in choosing actors.
Well, Hayden was rather weak in episode 2. I agree that his performance in Episode 3 was very good. Still, it's hard to blame any actor in any episode when the script is shit. Especially episode 2.
@@weiserEsel I love his acting in 2. He plays the character that he was meant to. You aren't supposed to like Anakin. He's the insufferable prodigy who has all the issues that a man his age goes through. I used to hate episode 2, but once I lived through those years myself, I began to appreciate the angst and edginess that Anakin projects. Being a young man who is held back from realizing his future is immensely frustrating and can drive him crazy. It may not be pleasant or terribly nuanced, but Anakin's character in Attack of the Clones is exactly what he would be in a real life scenario.
Unfortunately, it took most of you 15 years to finally admit this. And you still wont cut George Lucas any slack, you keep saying he made many mistakes. He made ZERO mistakes. Episodes 1 to 6 are all amazing, EXACTLY the way they are!
@@glim3mer Agreed. People love to be armchair critics of George Lucas, but I don't think anyone could've made those movies any better. I was very disappointed when Lucas listened to the haters and signed away his rights to the franchise.
"What I remember about the assault of naboo was how...sad it was. During the final hours of the invasion, I was still guarding our fair queen's tomb as wave after wave of stormtroopers and walkers finally broke through our Anti-air blasters and our defensive line. The fires that engulfed the anti-air blasters could be seen even in the thick of the storm. The white soldier of the empire ran up the streets and barged into the homes of many like a plague of death to our fair kingdom. The skies were still gray with rain and patches of silhouette battleships hovering our city that cast a looming shadow over us. Most of the civilians got evacuated, a few transport were shot down as a warning not to resist. A few squadrons were making their way towards the queens tomb with thermal charges. To destroy the tomb to make a statement to us citizens of naboo. As one of the hand chosen few of the royal guards. As someone who watched over our fair queen before the rise of the empire...before she was brought back to the royal palace without her life. I was taken to an oath and swore I would defend the final resting place of the last queen of naboo. To be the last man standing as the city is torn from the inside out . It was a death sentence I know...but our queen ment everything to us. I steadied my hand as it held the blaster rifle and held my aim. The world around me grew quiet as if it was holding its breath to see who would make the first move. As fortune would have it, I made my move. I pulled the trigger and opened fired on the first stormtrooper that came into my line of sight. We traded shots after shots. One fell down dead, two more came to take his place. I dont remember how many I have taken down, but I taken down enough of their forces for them to call on a Walker. Their heavy blaster knocked me on my back and I slam to the ground. I skidded on the wet concrete a few feet from the queens tomb. I slowly got back up as I lean heavily my fighting staff. They began to draw in like a pack hungry beast who have cornered their injured prey. My rifle was broken, my vision was darkening as they drew their blasters on me. Under my breath I muttered,. "Forgive me your majesty...i tried my best..." I closed my eyes and waited for death. The sound of something drawn came from my left and the sound of a blaster being fired. I open my eyes to see a man in black with a red lightsaber deflect blaster shots and slashed the stormtroopers. The Walker backed away and I knew why. It did. Darth vader. The Sith lord's apprentice. His breathing through the rain sent chills down my spine. He turns to me with the lightsaber still active and slowly walks over to me. I glance back at the tomb and to the sith in front of me. I took a stance. Ready to fight once more. He stops and tilts his head a bit. He turned off the light saber walked next to me. He stops and spoke, " you have guarded her well." I was puzzled by the sentence. He goes close to the tomb. He slowly reaches and touches the tomb. For a good few minutes their was just silence. After that he turned and walked away where the troopers came from. My knees buckled and I was on the ground. Tears running down my cheeks as the world faded to black. I woke up weeks later at a base on Yavin 4. The rebels found me unconsious and brought me to their base. They said that mostly the royal palace was in ruin. But royal tomb was still intact. Not even a scratch or debris was around it. As the survivors spoke of that day they said that it was the most horrific day. When I see that image of the sith lord and the tomb I cannot say it was a horrific day, but a rather sad day...and I just dont know why.... -tenzin seltora, the last royal naboo tomb guard
You might be right. And that's why Luke Skywalker is a hero, no matter what the new trilogy might portray. Grew up in the 80s, admire Luke Skywalker. The recent trilogy doesn't exist for me. Luke Skywalker fulfilled Anakin's destiny. Balance was restored.
If I'm not mistaken, Vader was not well known and would have been treated as a threat to begin with, so he didn't care whether people died or not, Vader was going to what Vader wanted to do.
Just realized that Vader's story parallels the story in Dr Horrible's Musical Blog, for those have seen that or not. Dr Horrible gets exactly what he had always wanted, but it's bitter because it cost him the woman that he loved.

@Mr. Hollidayy I was talking about the raid on Naboo that Vader did just to see Padme. Imagine if it happened after the last shot of Ahsoka after she burried the clones.
The end of clone wars is sad because Rex and Asoka are alone and have been betrayed. The end of revenge of the Sith is sad because Aniken had betrayed everyone that he loved
After watching the Clone Wars, you really feel this loss more. She was such a wonderful woman. She was so kind and strong. So brave and loyal. She believed in the things she fought for and you know she would have died for them in a second. What she believed in was people. That was what she would have died for. People. She was a light in a galaxy otherwise so filled with darkness. Corruption and filth everywhere and she rose above it all. She was a giant amongst men. It really is a tragedy to see someone so *great* die. No wonder Luke could beat his father's darkness. His mother's light was in him.
I'm glad someone in the comments is actually talking about Padme, most people are too busy feeling sorry for Vader to remember that she was a human, not just a sad story
Amazing how even in a mask, there are times in Return of the Jedi where you can see or feel the emotion Vader is feeling, like during the conversation he and Luke have, after Luke has surrendered and before they go to the Emperor, and again as the Emperor is killing Luke before Vader turns on him and throws him down the shaft. The music at those moments perfectly helps the audience to feel what Vader is feeling.
Nobody is disputing the acting expertise of Hayden. The controversy lies around the quality of writing. Star wars's best storytelling will always be the Downfall of Anakin and the wider story that surrounds it.
I wanna see a Vader Spinoff film like shortly after ROTS but If that happens I wanna see this as the final scene where he says goodbye to Padmé one last time and the film cuts after he leaves
Legends books covers that as well. The Darth Vader trilogy Labyrinth of Evil - Revenge of the Sith - The RIse of Darth Vader The last one gives an interesting insight in how he felt after his transformation
If you like Canon stuff too, there's Charles Soule's Vader comic book series. Issue #1 starts right after Vader's big "No!". Very cool to see Vader (and the Republic) in those moments immediately after ROTS. The series continues from that moment, and after 25 issues, ends in a moment somewhat similar to what you described. It's great!
The Clone Wars did wonders for expanding the various characters of the Star Wars universe to fans who weren’t the most avid literature readers or who perhaps didn’t scour every crevice of the Internet for lore. For “casual” fans, it helped build up these characters: it gave them purpose, it added depth to friendships and rivalries, it showed how they changed (sometimes for the worse) over time. A powerful compilation of stories, animated and narrated such that children could understand it. Magnificent.
"Lord Vader we've..." I stopped myself further as I came upon Lord Vader with his hand placed upon the tomb of the late Queen Padme, I've seen many people pay their respects on both sides of this war but sometimes in the chaos you forget how that invisible pain of loss really bleeds through the surface of almost all creatures...I've watched Rebels collect their dead and mourn and I've shared my fair bit of grieving. I could never really understand what it must be like to walk in the boots of Vader but where we do relate is our faces hidden away from everyone - hidden away in armor that does nothing more than offer basic protection and alienate us from the rest of the outside world. This armor is a prison in it's own sense, I've often wondered if he's felt that way as well. "My apologizes sir, I did not mean to interrupt you." I quietly stammered while turning back around the other way to leave him to his moment of peace with someone her clearly had known, before walking away I holstered my blaster and turned back. "TK-661 you may stay, was there something you needed to report to me." "..I was instructed to let you know we've secured the palace along with sectors D-3 and D19, walkers are holding and waiting further orders as well....It's not my business to ask but..did you know the Queen?" There was a slight lull in the air even as the rain fell to the ground outside the mausoleum, he didn't say anything and given the stories about Vader from the Imperial officers - I was scared I was about to meet the fate many of them had. "I ask because I grew up here, never really felt like I fit in with a lot of the crowds of politicians but she was different, she wasn't a politician she was the one person who made Naboo really worth sticking around for and everything she believed in and fought for was noble in itself, I never got to meet her in person but I just always felt like she was even a greater person beyond the holonet." A silence hung over us both, he softly placed his hand on the stomach of the statue and with a solemn tone he replied "She was the brightest star and everything the Republic should have been." I didn't say anything but nodded in agreement with his words, I could see other squads on the move towards us "Lord Vader, I'll inform them that you require more time to conduct your mission if that would be preferred." "No Trooper, that will not be necessary." He said while turning back around and preparing to leave and as he made his way down the stairs he briefly stopped and turned his head back towards me "Trooper, never let go of who you are and you will survive." He continued walking with me off to his right as the other squads formed up as we prepared to evacuate Naboo, I took a different shuttle off planet than Lord Vader but his words stuck with me, I couldn't figure out what he meant at the time but years late I would.
I feel like Vader wouldn’t have said any of the things you have him saying. He would have callously asked the trooper to update him on the siege at best and just snapped his neck with the Force at worst. Definitely wouldn’t have given him words of inspiration.
@MrPjw5 it's not bad for creative fan fiction. But, if we really wanted to poke holes in it, a TK doesn't make sense. A death trooper would, as vader was actually accompanied by them at her tomb. We could be funny, and make it fit in earlier timeline wise and make it a clone trooper and it would 100% make perfect sense. Minus the Naboo background. Although you could work it around as being stationed there at some point. Vader loved and cared for the clone troopers. For many reasons. There is a cool non canon comic out there with a clone trooper who was close to Vader and they were great friends. It's actually brilliantly done and a really good read.
Imagine, stormtroopers mercilessly raiding Naboo, looking for rebels, with Vader at the front. Until they arrive at *her* mausoleum. He's never seen this place, but he recognizes her face carved on the tombstone. He then tells his men: "Leave me alone. Now." And, as soon as he's sure he's the only one left, he starts caressing her grave, before getting on his knees and whispering, with a shaking voice: *"I'm... I'm truly sorry... I swear I didn't mean to..."*

Palpatine made Anakin suffer the cruelest pain of all: having killed his loved one, only to be cursed by nearly eternal life. Every inch of his body, every waking second is excruciating pain. Everything that touches his scorched flesh is a harsh and bitter flame. Every breath he takes reminds him of the life he took. He suffers in Hell. Suffers a thousand times more than any other living thing. So he lets the rest of the world suffer. He is not a monster. He is a victim, left with nothing but hate, anger, pain, and despair.
Exactly! I grew up with a very similar question. Why is Vader so evil, when in fact he has two amazing kids and he is so gifted... Then when I grew up, and experienced myself the behavior of adults. I learned all too well, what drove Anakin in the pits of hell and more specifically, what made him the Lord of it.
Anakins tale is a tale of caution. The world is full of suffering. Human beings face adversity everyday. Yet, not all of them end up like Anakin. It is a tragedy what happened to Anakin, but it's a warning to the rest of us. Not everyone gives in to their darkness. Most people actually push through and overcome. Hence his tale of caution. Regardless, I feel for Anakin. Any one of us could easily become him. We must persevere....
He murdered a bunch of little kids in cold blood and is responsible for more deaths than Hitler and Stalin combined. Let's not romanticize him too much.

Did you ever hear the Tragedy of the Chosen One? He was so powerful that he believed he could stop the ones he loved from certain death. He became so powerful the only thing he feared was loss. Unfortunately, he burned everything he held dear to the ground, then his former master and brother defeated him in a duel, leaving him to be encased in eternal misery. Ironic, he could save others from going down dark paths, but not himself.
There is so much power in this image, so many themes and symbols which make you just drop your jaw in amazement. Here Vader is, a man who has changed so much in such a short span of time, visiting his love’s grave. Vader stares at her, knowing that the tomb she is encased in is the result of his actions. He destroyed his love, all in an attempt to save her. Vader is here to apologize, hoping Padmé will forgive him, but even if she does, he will never forgive himself. Vader inflicts so much pain upon others, yet it’s minuscule in comparison to the pain he’s inflicted upon himself. To everyone around him, Vader is a ruthless monsters, but to himself, he is shattered beyond repair, and as the rain portrays, drowning in his sorrrow.

A lot of people hate the prequels and the Clone Wars series saying it portraits Anakin as weak and pathetic but on the contrary i think it makes him look stronger. He lost everything and bit by bit all the love and happiness in him was replaced by hate and suffering towards the jedi and himself. He lost Qui-Gon, the man who freed him from slavery, as a true jedi should, because the jedi order was too blind to see the dark side rising. He lost his padawan because the jedi-council cared more about politics and power in the senate than what they sensed to be right. He lost his mother because the jedi were more concerned with waging war than serving the good by freeing slaves and protecting the innocent. He lost his wife because the jedi refused his plea for help and instead told him to let go, essentially to let his loved ones die. He lost his faith in the light side because the ones who represented it chose to murder an unarmed man and his only hope of saving his wife. He lost the closest thing he ever had to a father because the jedi forced his hand. and finally he lost himself when his anger and suffering were finally unleashed so he lost control and killed his wife. Anakin did not turn to the dark side. He was pushed from the light.
no one says the clone wars series portrays Anakin as weak or pathetic. It makes him better as a character by adding more to him. Where the fuck did you get that shit from.

The fact that Qui-Gon's funeral is the same as Padmé's really fit into the interpretation that Dave Filoni gave to The Duel of the Fates in Phantom Menace (which is the interpretation i think makes the most sense) as it was the death of the old master that allowed everything else to unfold, it's a little tip of what really happened... The wails of the broken, the tears of the hopeless, and the silence of the defeated and dead infiltrate the night - memories of them etching themselves into our minds like worms wriggling into a carcass. Why is it so hard to feel loved?
No matter how many times i repeat listening to this, i will never forget the pain Darth Vader sufferd just because he wanted to save those he loved....
As corny as some of the superficial aspects of Revenge of the Sith are, (i.e., certain special effects scenes, dialogue ect.. which have been critiqued to no end) when you ask yourself the question; what is this movie really about you get a startling answer. It is an exploration of the only thing that really matters regarding Human affairs, a juxtaposition of Love and Power. Vader has superfluous ability, unlimited resources and the strength to peer into the hearts of other men seeing only fear and trepidation and controls them based on that fear, he knows that there is nothing more terrifying than himself and yet he is utterly dissatisfied with his complete acquisition of Power; this is the tragedy of Vader, he is a prisoner trapped in a cell which expands to the farthest reaches of the Galaxy. He may sit on the highest throne of the most prosperous planet and yet there is more freedom in the heart of a lowly clerk who works only for his family because he loves and knows that he is loved and exerts no power over anybody. Vader does not love and therefore cannot be loved but only feared, his obsession and Lust for power corrupts him so totally that the only thing in the universe which he regards as nobler than himself, Padmè, is destroyed by him. Vader is then ruled by this desire subject entirely to its demands and nothing is sufficient to satisfy its hunger; he stands utterly alone in the universe as a terrible obelisk to the pursuit of power. :(

@@RomulanStar I thought perhaps as well too; that the artist may have had a more practical reason such as what you mentioned for the outline. Probably the real reason, truthfully.
I have felt the smallest fraction of what Vader feels. That endless pit of self loathing. The desire to do *SOMETHING* with yourself and knowing that suicide is not the right answer. So you throw yourself into the fray in hopes that you die in glory. But you cannot. You cannot die. You cannot live either. I felt that for years until around November of 2019. Just remember Niche. Without suffering, life has no meaning.

The best villains are written in a way that you feel for them and their struggle. In some twisted way you end up caring for the villain and his or her tortured past because we have all experienced loss to some degree and deal with it in different ways, but there is something so heartbreaking yet powerful about a once good person doing these terrible things. I forgive Vader because I know deep down Anakin is a good person who had terrible things happen to him. Oh. And that picture is perfection. ❤️🦁🙏👍
There needs to be a Vader solo film that really shows the hell Vader went through everyday, from the memories of everyone he lost and destroyed to trying to kill himself. If done correctly it would be the darkest film ever made
I think every one of us, experiencing what Anakin went through from young age, would have a Darth Vader in them. It's up to how much discipline and control of emotion one has over himself - which is a hard thing to master - how we deal with that darkness. Not saying that darkness is bad. Darkness can be a very good teacher.
This music just gets me right in the feels, man. And it hurts even more when u realize that Anakin only wanted to have the power to protect those he cared about.Yes, Anakin made mistakes. But only because he was manipulated by Palpatine, the utter douchebag and he was let down by the council. Every time. And even at the end, by Obi Wan. Anakin fought so much and sacrificed so much and in the end, the Universe gave him NOTHING in return. The story of Darth Vader is the story of a sad and broken man who lost everything because everyone around him eventually failed him.
Revenge of the sith is the best Star Wars film if you are looking for emotion, almost all emotions are in it, that's why people love it so much, the scenes express emotion as well as the music, the most beautiful music in history.
@@Coruscantspadawan Snips...I helped the empire to hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights,i killed my love, Padmé...I had become the worst person ever...I hate Myself...
Anakins tale is a tale of caution. The world is full of suffering. Human beings face adversity everyday. Yet, not all of them end up like Anakin. It is a tragedy what happened to Anakin, but it's a warning to the rest of us. We shouldn't give in to our darkness. We just end up adding more of the anguish to the world that we despised in the first place. People push through adversity everyday, in all walks of life, hence his tale of caution. Regardless, I feel for Anakin. Any one of us could easily become him. We must persevere...."Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."
“Fear is the path to the dark side, fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering. Qui-Gon-Jins funeral anakin was fearful. Shmis death, he was angry and killed all the tusken raiders. Anakin chokes Padme and loses the fight to Obi-Wan “I hate you”. He now suffers as Darth Vader
The sad part is what Anakin lost. Naboo symbolizes paradise; beautiful scenery, excellent climate, small-town feel, organic, flowing architecture, and wonderful government. (Even under the empire, Naboo enjoyed large amounts of self-government). Padme likewise represents a "perfect" woman (of course, in the eye of the beholder and all that, but generally speaking) She's intelligent, witty, an excellent speaker, charismatic, gorgeous, powerful, wealthy, and most of all, a politician and a woman who actually cares. Look at her apartment in ROTS (when Kenobi tells her Anakin has turned). That's what Anakin could have had. A lavish lifestyle with the girl of his dreams (literally). Not to mention that while Padme loved him, I feel Anakin's relationship is more obsessive. He's willing to kill children for her, etc. But most importantly, he never tells Padme he loves her. When he expresses his feelings, it's always in terms of pain. (I'm in agony, hoping this kiss won't become a scar, etc.) His obsession is tearing him apart. It's based on medieval courtly love with Shakespearean influences. (Knight and member of the court he is sworn to protect). It's a love that is somewhat off, and one we desperately want to succeed, but that we know is doomed to fail from the moment they first kiss on that balcony in Naboo. Padme's death is a self-fulfilling prophecy. By trying to prevent it, Anakin ends up causing it instead. And Anakin suffers a fate worse than death. It is a love that brings down the galaxy and causes untold suffering. What could have been if they succeeded, if they resisted temptation? We can only imagine.
Anakin gave in to everything because he was afraid of losing the people you love, but what he didn't know was that some destinies are fulfilled when you try to prevent them, and if he hadn't done that, maybe Padme would be alive right now.
"The bombs fell on the palace in Naboo as the Empire started their assault, but this was an odd assault. Few troops landed, only a few walkers and fighters to take out our anti-air blasters. My fingers trembled as the city rumbled from the wake. As a guard that watched over our queens tomb, I stood my ground as I looked at the smoke and out of it came walking a man cladded in black. My heart felt as if it stopped beating and fear took over me as the second most powerful man within the empire came walking toward the tomb. It was Darth Vader, the butcher of the rebellion, the iron fist of the empire, and the jedi executioner. I raised my weapon ready to defend the Queen's final resting place, but to my surprise he simply stood as he stopped in front of me. He was not looking at me, but rather towards the tomb. He did pull out his lightsaber but he didn't activate it. He just pushed me aside rather than killing me. He walked close to our Queen's final resting place and then stopped mid way as if he was respecting the dead Queen's space. He stood there for about three minutes as he peered over the Queen's body and reached out to touch her face as if he were saying goodbye. He then turned around and walked back as he then stopped and turned to face me. He looked at me and said only a few words, words which still puzzles me to this day. He spared my life. The words he said me were 'Guard her well'. He then walked away as the walkers and the fighters retreated, just as if nothing happened. All that remained were the fire from the AA blasters and the sound of rain. Many guards and citizens said it was a fearful day, but to me.. it was rather a sad day. And I just don't know why." - Queen of Naboo's Tomb Guard.
I spent an hour searching for this. It is the best piece of music to have come out of Star Wars. It reaches into the depths of your soul and communicates the unimaginable tragedy of a character that only exists in books and movies, yet you feel like the events are a significant event in history. This is what music is capable of doing.
star wars was never meant to be about wars but about love between the chosen one and a senator that at the end anger got the best of one and now they are reunited forever may the force be with them always
"l know the rage that drives you. That impossible anger strangling the grief until the memory of your loved one is just... poison in your veins. And one day, you catch yourself wishing the person you loved had never existed...so you'd be spared your pain." - Ra's Al Ghul
Not only does this music and the video's image show how tragic Anakin and Padmé's fates were, but they also put in perspective just how heartless and cruel Palpatine was. He manipulated and ultimately ruined Anakin's life, nearly wiped out an entire religion, and threw the entire galaxy under the bus for his own selfish ambitions. Every tear shed in the galaxy, from the Clone Wars up until the Empire's fall, can be traced back to Palpatine.
Alkisgamer there have been rumors from Doomcock's sources that Disney is trying to get George Lucas to return to Star Wars, you can look it up if you want. Also, remember we're getting to see Obi-Wan (or Ben, I guess) in his own show in a couple of years, with Ewan McGregor and almost certainly Hayden Christensen. I think he'll appear either in a flashback from the Clone Wars (hopefully along with Ahsoka and the clones, reinforcing them into canon), or he'll appear in his dark suit as Darth Vader... either way, that's enough to keep me hyped. And if they somehow manage to screw it up, we still have a wonderful 6 movie, coherent saga to enjoy
i don't get what your saying the one in the suit vader or ani are both great parts in the saga disney is just like sideous a shit show that likes to fuck things up and now that they own everything its all gone to shit
This is undoubtedly my favorite star wars film. Yeah, the acting isn't amazing but it caps off the story of anger, betrayal, vengeance, and fear so nicely and with so much truth. There are no winners, only those that walk away alive.
"You do not know the power of the Dark Side. I must obey my master l." Just goes to show how trapped he really was. "Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny."😢
The Prequel Trilogy each featured a funeral:
1. Qui-Gon Jinn
2. Shmi Skywalker
3. Padme Amidala
1. A father figure
2. His mother
3. His wife

Nothing.
What did we thought of him.

Deep under all that hate and anger, Vader was just a broken hearted young man who had lost everything he ever loved and made mistakes because of it.
Stars Wars basically backs up every person in jail without parole.. A direct spear to the heart of the government. Powerful, Walker, he was.
I think you got it backwards. He lost everything he loved because he made critical mistakes, namely failing to think through his fear, failing to set aside his obsessive need to protect, and forgetting that you can't save someone by sacrificing what they'd die for.

Hayden was a great actor and nobody can convince me otherwise. Not only did he deliver the angst of a young adult perfectly, but he also played the menacing part of the dark side within himself which later became Vader. George Lucas made many mistakes, but not in choosing actors.
@Bernard de Fontaines they dismiss him because they can't help but associate him with the role he was playing.

True.

SHIIIIET i forgot that part...that's deep...
Bruh....the feels
Ngl I never even played the game I just know the quote
"TK-661 you may stay, was there something you needed to report to me."
"..I was instructed to let you know we've secured the palace along with sectors D-3 and D19, walkers are holding and waiting further orders as well....It's not my business to ask but..did you know the Queen?"
There was a slight lull in the air even as the rain fell to the ground outside the mausoleum, he didn't say anything and given the stories about Vader from the Imperial officers - I was scared I was about to meet the fate many of them had.
"I ask because I grew up here, never really felt like I fit in with a lot of the crowds of politicians but she was different, she wasn't a politician she was the one person who made Naboo really worth sticking around for and everything she believed in and fought for was noble in itself, I never got to meet her in person but I just always felt like she was even a greater person beyond the holonet."
A silence hung over us both, he softly placed his hand on the stomach of the statue and with a solemn tone he replied
"She was the brightest star and everything the Republic should have been." I didn't say anything but nodded in agreement with his words, I could see other squads on the move towards us
"Lord Vader, I'll inform them that you require more time to conduct your mission if that would be preferred."
"No Trooper, that will not be necessary." He said while turning back around and preparing to leave and as he made his way down the stairs he briefly stopped and turned his head back towards me
"Trooper, never let go of who you are and you will survive."
He continued walking with me off to his right as the other squads formed up as we prepared to evacuate Naboo, I took a different shuttle off planet than Lord Vader but his words stuck with me, I couldn't figure out what he meant at the time but years late I would.
This is so... perfect. You are a great writer.
Beautifully written. Well done.
I feel like Vader wouldn’t have said any of the things you have him saying. He would have callously asked the trooper to update him on the siege at best and just snapped his neck with the Force at worst. Definitely wouldn’t have given him words of inspiration.
Had more emotion than episode 7-9
He then tells his men:
"Leave me alone. Now."
And, as soon as he's sure he's the only one left, he starts caressing her grave, before getting on his knees and whispering, with a shaking voice:
*"I'm... I'm truly sorry... I swear I didn't mean to..."*
You literally made me cry you did a really good job with writing and I'm not saying it ironically
I believe he canonically visited padmes grave often and I doubt the place of her burial would have been kept secret from the 2nd man of the empire

One last tear to cry. It found it's way down his barren chin as he bend his head and reached out. He trembled as his gauntlet touched the tomb, as if the touch itself send bolts of lightning up his crippled arm. "I should have saved you. Spared you. Protected you. It is so sad the story of Anakin and Vader, so tragic he lost everyone he cared about he went to the darkest of the dark to save the ones he loved he even embraced to evil to save Padme but she sadly passed and Vader believed it to be his fault his failure made him hate himself, he began to have depression, he was heartless and cruel. Only when he found out about Luke he began to remerge as Anakin, and once he learned of Leia being his daughter he was both happy and sad since he tried to both kill her and he tortured her he redeemed himself aboard the 2nd Death Star.

He murdered a bunch of little kids in cold blood and is responsible for more deaths than Hitler and Stalin combined. Let's not romanticize him too much.
A dark, black coffin. A grave, to one's mind and a soul, bound to a cold, lifeless vessel. Once loved and loving, now left alone, broken.

He destroyed his love, all in an attempt to save her. Vader is here to apologize, hoping Padmé will forgive him, but even if she does, he will never forgive himself. A lot of people hate the prequels and the Clone Wars series saying it portraits Anakin as weak and pathetic but on the
contrary i think it makes him look stronger. He lost everything and bit by bit all the love and happiness in him was replaced by hate
and suffering towards the jedi and himself.
And he was cursed with almost eternal life. Not even death could relieve him of his misery and suffering.
no one says the clone wars series portrays Anakin as weak or pathetic. It makes him better as a character by adding more to him. Where the fuck did you get that shit from.
It builds up his character development, unlike the sequel that can't even do that except Luke drinking blue milk.

I love the prequels...

One standing, One too rest, but one day the standing coffin must fall, and fall he shall to someone whom he never knew lived, to someone who will be his only light. Someone recently made a short fan film of Vader visiting Padme’s grave, it looks just like the art shown here, it’s called *”Fallen Angel”* and it’s absolutely phenomenal…if you haven’t seen it yet you should definitely go do that…certain shots look so good it feels like your watching something that’s done by LucasFilm…

I think every one of us, experiencing what Anakin went through from young age, would have a Darth Vader in them. It's up to how much discipline and control of emotion one has over himself - which is a hard thing to master - how we deal with that darkness.

I would love to see this scene happen in live action. Legit would cry.
And I just don't know why."
