  • We decided to head to Matagorda for Memorial Day weekend. We'd never been before, and spent two days there, but stayed in a hotel in Bay City this time. It's a great beach with a lot of shells and soft sand that you probably should have a 4x4 to drive on.
Beach camping is allowed on Matagorda at no additional cost as long as you have a county beach parking permit on your vehicle. During the summer, you can pick up a beach permit at the beach entrance. You can find out more about Matagorda here: matagordabeach...

Shot those with my phone then sped them up in editing. I'm going to try a night sky timelapse soon.

@@lalelandadventures nice, I like the timelapse on the gorpo 9. I don't like all the bugs they are still working out though.

this is my home! i lived in bay city for 25yrs before moving. matagorda was the go-to place for fun and beach time!
you have to drive past 3-mile to get the most solitude. sometimes it's not possible like you said, because of soft sand lol.
HECKS YEAH MATAGORDA > PADRE foreverrr 😂🎉

Love it! I have some friends that live in Bay City now. It's a great beach. We haven't made it back there since this trip, but I'm itching to go this summer. Thanks for watching!

We agree on Buccee's. I don't hate it, but I just don't get the excitement that it generates. Bigger is not always better, and they keep building them even bigger!

great video y’all , our three beach vacay spots from Austin are Padre Island National Seashore, Sea Rim , and Matagorda. Of the three, we’ve observed Matagorda has the deepest sand especially when entering the beach, but there’s lots of support if you get stuck. Be prepared if your staying overnight on the beach, the mosquitoes can be insanely frisky ~ vampire homage🩸 ~ Keep Thrivin 🏝🥂🏝

Definitely a lot more standing water and not as much wind at Matagorda. Thanks for watching!

@@urbanlovesrural big shell is as far down as I've gone. The kids get antsy after looking at the beach and water for an hour and not being able to get out. I want to get all the way down to the cut, but I'll probably have to do that by myself.

@@lalelandadventures awesome well done, how far is Big Shell we definitely want to check that section out🐚? ... we’ve been to the 20 mile mark, definetly appreciated having the Ram 🐏 4x4

@@urbanlovesrural according to NPS, it "starts" around the 19 mile mark and goes down another 10 miles. We've been 23ish miles down, and there were definitely more shells, but nothing like what you see at Matagorda.
