  • If you use a DLSR camera as your webcam + an external mic, here's to make sure your audio and video sync up in Zoom.
    Two approaches:
    - Use Ecamm Live Pro + Loopback (Rogue Amoeba)
    - Use Audio Hijack Pro + Loopback (both from Rogue Amoeba)
    Ecamm Live: www.ecamm.com/...
    Rogue Amoeba: rogueamoeba.com/

    Justin you just saved my ass. Was working two hours yesterday trying to fix that. I just saw your video. Been using Loopback but not Audio Hijack. Now it Will Work. I Will try to make it Work with OBS virtual camera which already receives a Loopback Signal. from there on I am going to route it into zoom. Let's see how this Will Work out. Thank you so much man. Great informative short video.

    Thanks for these solutions. I've been routing my camera through an ATEM mini and you can delay the audio in their software, but the audio isn't so good. I like this solution better.

    Clear and helpful - thank you, Justin. I was using Ecamm Virtual Cam into Zoom and have been toggling the mic delay without success, but now realize I was overlooking the need to set up a dedicated Zoom audio input as well. Appreciated!

      @@edsbored Hi Ed! I was referring to changing the mic in Zoom. As in, once setting up the virtual mic, selecting that new mic source in Zoom. I have not used Loopback, but Ecamm now offers a virtual mic so I am engaging that option and then selecting "Ecamm Live Virtual Mic" as my microphone in Zoom.

    Hello from India! And thank you so much for this video.
    I have been having sleepless nights regarding this same issue!
    One part of my Zoom Classes are now solved (I just started using Ecamm Virtual Cam for Zoom) - and the delay was the just one part of the problem.
    However, in the last two days, I am not able to hear my students clearly - it sounds like a "stutter". So, they were able to hear me - but, I could not understand what they were saying. I think, it's probably a loop back issue.

    what about using a lapel mic hooked up to your DSLR? i tried this with my son a7sII and hooked uo to calming, but neither zoom nor cam picked up the audio from the lapel mic and just keep on using the internal computer microphone, even though I had calming selected for the audio source. Is there not a way to make this work?

    Wow thank you! I can't wait to try this. A couple questions... I have an interface and mic but I currently teach online just using my imac microphone and camera. Especially when teaching voice, this delay makes things pretty complicated. Do I need to involve an external mic, camera, interface, etc in order to use this trick? I'm sorry if that questions doesn't make much sense...it's a big learning curve for me when I get into tech/gear.

    • @JustinJackson

    I'm doing this natively in a sound devices mix-pre3 ii now, works a charm, but that thing is mega spendy and out of stock, but makes things mega easy, apparently the zoom audio devices can do the same thing too.

  • @brucequinn

    I evtually did something similar in windows zoom with an app called VoiceMeeter from VB Audio. But it’s way more complicated than it needs be, and sometimes VM suddenly reconfigured itself in a way that’s hard to fix. But the main point is running through a virtual cable with a submenu setting for delay.

    How do you quickly determine the delay number amount needed without recording on Zoom and downloading the MP4 from the cloud to troubleshoot manually?

    • @JustinJackson
      @JustinJackson  2 года назад

      I haven't figured out a way yet! I just adjust it, and then record a Zoom video to make sure it's synced properly.

    • @dufd11
      @dufd11 2 года назад

      There was another video somewhere with a guy trying to figure out exactly how long the delay was for the ATEM mini, basically he recorded at 60fps, and then put audio from his camera + video, and the audio from his USB device into premiere pro side by side, and counted the frames between the peaks of a clap. 1000ms in a second, 60fps, 16.6ms per frame, i think he counted 6 frames difference, 6x16.6 was about 100ms - i could have this totally wrong but this was the general idea, low and behold my number was about 150ms and that delay worked perfectly for me, so there might be some truth to it :)

    • @brucequinn
      @brucequinn 2 года назад

      It’s often 200 to 300 msec so at 24 fps that’s 5-8 frames roughly.
