    Should I try to use this with Garageband with my 2015 4g ram Mac Air with a 2014 Zoom TAC-2. I'm hoping to follow youtube advice: "Use what you have to learn digital music recording." I am leaning towards Ableton since it's included with my new Akai Advance 61 which unlike my TAC-2 interface is no longer supported. I want to record demos for fun and profit, in my retirement. :) I wish my keyboard playing sounded great, like you. Great video!

It's easy to transition from GarageBand to Logic Pro as well. Thanks Chris! Yes you can run multi channel tracks to Zoom this way. Simply add in your audio tracks to your DAW the same way you would for a recording session. Do a quick mix/balance of the tracks in your DAW and the master output will be sent to Zoom using the multi-output device you created.

      Hi Christopher, you shouldn't have to change anything in those scenarios. Your input in your DAW would stay as your audio interface at all times, and your output can stay as the multi-output device you created. If your multi-output device includes your audio interface then you'll continue to get audio out of it when you're doing recording work. I hope that helps/makes sense.

    really great video. I use logic and would like to send my audio via Zoom. However, I would also like to speak and narrate what I'm doing through my native mic on my webcam. How can I send that audio in addition to the audio in Logic? Also, if I also wanted share quicktime audio/video as well, how would I go about it?

    • @knuckledustermusic
      @knuckledustermusic  2 года назад +1

      Hi Miles, thanks! To set up your speaking mic, set your audio input device in the Logic Pro Audio Preferences to your webcam mic (make sure your audio output device is set to the multi-output device you created). Then simply add an audio track for your speaking mic. For quicktime, when you share your screen using Zoom make sure to click the check mark in the bottom left corner of the share screen pop up window to share your computer sound. Or alternatively you can go into your MacOS system preferences and change your main sound output to the same multi-output device you created for Logic. In that case your computer sound will be heard at all times (regardless if you're sharing your screen).

    Hi Georges, I have finally managed to setup Blackhole, Logic, and Zoom to work together, however, when I use my Blue Yeti microphone there is a massive latency, which means there is no way of playing an audio track and singing along with it.
    Secondly, I have also managed successfully to route Safari audio to Zoom. Is there a way of using my Blue Yeti in that setup? I can use it via Logic, although there is latency, which doesn't matter as much as I will just be speaking after pausing the Safari audio. I can see no other way of using the Yeti, although I have added it to the multi-output device. It does not work that way it seems, which would of course be ideal rather than to run it over Logic. Moreover, in this setup my audio volume control on my MacBook is unavailable and the audio is heard in my headphone as well as the laptop speaker, which of course brings in feedback. Perhaps there is no other way than to switch from the Blackhole input in Zoom to the Yeti input whenever I want to speak? The Blackhole Multi-Output device has no output controls it says in my sound settings 😲

    • @knuckledustermusic
      @knuckledustermusic  Год назад

      Hi Gauranga, do you mind explaining to me what the end goal is over Zoom? Are your headphones plugged into the Blue Yeti?
      For simply screen sharing and speaking I would do without BlackHole. Simply set your microphone to the Yeti in Zoom and use the screen sharing function (don't forget to click the share sound check box) in Zoom as well.
      If you're wanting to use Logic Pro in order to add things like reverb and compression to your vocals then I would go the BlackHole route. You'll have to look at your multi-output device again to only include BlackHole2Ch and the device you want to hear yourself through (computer speakers, or Yeti, or other). If you're experiencing a lot of latency, then lower your I/O buffer size in Logic Pro's Audio Preferences/Settings, and you can enable Low Latency mode as well.
      I hope that helps
      Cheers

    Great video thanks for the upload! I seem to be having some trouble setting this up. I am running on Mac OS Monterey 12.2.1 and want to run my DAW (I use Studio One) while teaching some online guitar lessons via Zoom. I installed the BlackHole 2ch driver and created a multi-output device. However, when I open up Preferences in Studio One and switch the Playback and Recording Device to the Multi-Output device I created in the Audio MIDI setup, I am not getting any of the effects/signal in the Studio One channels (just getting the dry signal). Also, when I open up the Audio Preferences in Zoom and change the microphone to BlackHole 2ch, it won't let me adjust the input volume (it seems to be stuck at 0). Any idea as to why that is?

    • @knuckledustermusic
      @knuckledustermusic  2 года назад +1

      Hi Joseph, I don't regularly use Studio One, but I seem to remember that you can't change the playback/recording device independently in Studio One. If that's correct, then you'll be unable to set your recording device to your audio interface and your playback device to the multi-output device simultaneously. I'm guessing that the dry signal you're hearing at the moment is from the direct monitoring from your audio interface. The workaround would be to create an aggregate device rather than a multi-output device, so that you can include the input of your audio interface. The volume stuck at zero in Zoom is normal. If everything is working as it should you will see signal inputing into Zoom. The volume will be controlled from Studio One.
      I hope that helps.

      @@knuckledustermusic Yes that is correct, playback/recording device cannot be changed independently in S1. I created an aggregated device in my Audio MIDI setup (BlackHole 2ch with drift correction on and AudioBox 22VSL, in that order). I changed my playback/recording device to Blackhole/22VSL Aggregate Device in S1, and the Speaker in Zoom to the audio interface and the microphone to the BlackHole 2ch and but am still not getting a signal. Is there anything else I could be missing with this?

    • @knuckledustermusic
      @knuckledustermusic  2 года назад

      @@JBadalamente30 the tricky thing with the aggregate device is that the output channels will be different for each device (AudioBox & Blackhole). You're AudioBox is likely channels 1&2 (are you still hearing the output in S1?), and Blackhole is output channels 3&4. So in S1 you'll need to create a send/bus for your guitar track so that it outputs to 3&4 (or whichever output Blackhole is routed to) as well. It's unfortunate that you can't have different input/output devices in S1 because this complicates things quite a bit.
      Hopefully that helps. Cheers!

    • @knuckledustermusic
      @knuckledustermusic  2 года назад +1

      @@JBadalamente30 I believe what's happening now is since the microphone is now set to Blackhole/22VSL Aggregate Device, Zoom is just picking up the signal directly from your interface rather than Blackhole via S1. If you're still not getting any signal to Blackhole in Zoom then you'll have to look at your routing in S1 again. In your Audio Midi setup take a look to see which outputs in your Blackhole/22VSL Aggregate Device correspond to Blackhole and which correspond to 22VSL. Then make sure you're outputting signal to both sets of outputs in your DAW (likely 1&2 + 3&4). I hope that makes sense. A paid alternative you can look at is Loopback. There is a free demo to try. rogueamoeba.com/loopback/

    • @knuckledustermusic
      @knuckledustermusic  3 года назад

      Hey Bill, thanks for the comment! In the Zoom audio settings you'll need to enable stereo audio and then make sure "Original Sound" is on. If your Zoom settings are all correct, what's likely happening is Zoom only records video in mono (hopefully Zoom will allow stereo recordings in the future). You'll be broadcasting and heard in stereo on the other end, but your video recording from Zoom will be in mono. If you want a stereo video recording of your Zoom session, you can do a screen capture recording using the Screenshot app (found in Applications/Utilities) and set your microphone in Screenshot to Soundflower 2ch. The only downside of this method is you won't be capturing the audio of the other Zoom participants (only your own audio from your DAW).
      Hope that helps! Cheers!

      If you've got your DAW audio working in OBS, you can either just add your audio interface as an "Audio Input Capture" source in OBS (make sure you're mic is plugged into channel 1 and you set it to mono in OBS). Or simply add an audio track in your DAW and use that as your vocal track.

    I tried the installation on Big Sur 11.6 but it failed. What to do?

      For Big Sur you'll want to use Blackhole instead of Soundflower, but the instructions are the same.

    Is this the same step for a 22 channel mixer?

    • @knuckledustermusic
      @knuckledustermusic  Год назад

      If you have a digital mixer that acts as an interface in your DAW then yes. Everything gets mixed down to your 2 channel stereo out in your DAW before being sent to Zoom.

      @@binojgeorge8079 with the Audient id4 you can use the loopback feature of the interface, so you don't need to install soundflower or blackhole. You'll need to set your output in your DAW to outputs 3/4. Set you microphone in Zoom to be inputs 3/4, and your speakers in Zoom to be outputs 1/2.

      If you're trying to send your DAW audio to OBS then you'll want to set your audio output in your DAW to the multi-output device you created, and in OBS set your Audio Input Capture to be BlackHole or Soundflower (not the multi-output device).
