Logic Pro 10.7.5 Update (the things that matter)
Hello George. I´m impressed by the calm and gentle way, that you´re explaining, how the things are working. It`s SO easy to follow even for a foreign (danish) guy like me. I wonder: do you have a tutorial for Logic Pro X..? Cause I´m still using Logic Pro X, and I would be happy to buy an Introduction course for Logic Pro X, if you still have one..? Yours kindly Hans from Denmark.
Dear George, is there a way to "tell" the Session Piano player that the song is ending at that "last final bar", so that it can adapt itself to an "ending" like a human player? Of course, I can do this after a midi conversion, but maybe there is a trick for this. Instead of a manual intervention, I mean... Thank you in advance.
Really great video! I had no idea you could create a session player clip on an existing instrument track. I've just been using the default bass/drums/keys sounds. I also didn't know you could designate chords within a region. Very cool. One thing I am disappointed it's not easier to do is analyse the chords in an existing MIDI region and convert them to chords. For all the things that are well thought out about Logic, this definitely isn't one of them! Hoping that changes.
Thanks! Yes I’m hoping this changes as well. It’s really a no brainer. Cheers Georges
Nice Job, can you further define the difference between global chords and region chords?
All very interesting, of course. But why can't I drag and drop the MIDI region onto the chord track? I see a "Lock" icon when I try to do this. This makes the Chord track completely unusable.
great vid
@@GabrielBritoEstevez thanks!
Hi, great video! Do you know if there is any way to get Logic to import MusicXML chord symbols so that they get added to the chord track? I suspect this might be doable via editing the XML but haven't been able to prove it out... thanks
@@BrianHuether thanks! At the moment you can’t simply drop midi into the chord track and have it recognized. I’m hoping this feature will get added in the future. You can play a chord using a MIDI keyboard and have it recognized. So you could in theory have a MIDI track and play the chords one by one into the chord track but I think it’s more trouble then it’s worth doing it that way. Cheers Georges
I’m still overloaded lol fml
Thanks bro. Dithering though?

Thanks! It’s much appreciated!
I appreciate the teaching, but does anyone else feel like they can't really hear the difference? Im using Audio Technica ATH-M30x headphones
how about audio output?
thank you
You're welcome!
Wow freezing tracks really did help!
Glad it helped!
Hi. Thanks for the video. I was wondering: is there a way that you can time stretch in such a way that instead of it effecting the audio both to the right and the left of the time point, it instead pulls (or pushes) the end of the track along with the time point, so that the audio to the right remains unchanged? I hope this makes sense.
If I understand your question correctly, make sure you create flex markers before and after the area you want to change. This will stop everything else from shifting as well. I hope that makes sense. Cheers Georges
Hi, nice job 🎉. When I add audio effects on my DAW, I don't hear them on the Livestream. How do I solve this.
This looks very interesting. But, I have Logic Pro 10.4.8. When I click the + button, am not seeing the keyboard player option, but seeing Soft Inst, Audio, Drummer, External MIDI & Guitar or Bass. Not sure what setup changes I need to do. If possible, do guide me. Thank you
@@gsslion the session players are only available with the Logic Pro 11 update. You’ll need to be running MacOS Ventura or higher in order to update. Cheers Georges
Personally I think it's absurd that balance is the native option. Isn't stereo panning what people think they're doing when they do that? That's what every other daw is set to. People don't realize they're losing all that information. I've used logic for 2 years and didn't know about this until a couple months ago. Anyway, thank you for your help. Solid video.
Ya I agree, or at least have the option to set Stereo Pan as the default.
thanks! this is very helpful and great demo!
Thanks! I’m glad it was helpful! Cheers Georges

Slap-my-forehead department: no sound from MIDI keyboard? Of course, I needed to choose and load an instrument first! Thanks for reminding me of the obvious.
@@sjpbrooklyn7699 glad you got it sorted!
Hi, George! Thank you for the detailed video. It was very informative! As a newbie going through a bit of a learning curve, it helped a lot. The only thing I’m struggling with is that my keyboard sound doesn’t go through Zoom, while my mic works perfectly. I have no issues when using Garageband-both the keyboard and mic work-but I’m not sure what’s wrong with the Pro Tools setup. It’s strange because I can still record the keyboard sound. Any advice?
Great video! Thanks Georges!
@@sebchamney7057 thanks Seb. Nice seeing you here! Cheers Georges
Cool! Can it throw in more complex jazz chords if I want to advance further?
Yes you can add chord extensions and slash chords as well. Cheers Georges
@@knuckledustermusic Thanks. But this is only for the new M1s right?
@@MusicChannel-rf5zz the update is for any Mac able to run Ventura or higher. A couple of the features like the Stem Splitter and ChromaGlow are only available for the M1 or newer unfortunately. But the chord track and session musicians work on intel Macs.
@@knuckledustermusic Thanks. That's good news.I hope they come up with more updates this thanksgiving.
Wonder how this compares to Cubase chord track.

@@LouisTorres-ut4ks you’re welcome!
@@knuckledustermusic I have a question if I have 3 different Synthesizers, can I only connect one add a time and what do I connect them to the interface I'm a little confused, like I have a Roland Fa-07 ?
@@LouisTorres-ut4ks that all depends how many inputs you have on your audio interface. If you have 3 synths each with stereo outputs then you’ll need 6 inputs on your audio interface to have them all connected at the same time. Ideally you’d have 6 preamps on your audio interface, but you can usually get away with line inputs when connecting synths. I hope that makes sense. Cheers Georges

@@Chris_grafilionaire you’re welcome!
maybe a dumb question........if you have 5 different mix options, how are you supposed to know which mix is best when you are ready to master and release your music?
@@nonamebonney13 your mix will sound slightly different in each room. The goal is to get your mix as balanced as possible. Making sure the main elements of your mix (vocals for example) are heard clearly across as many different rooms as possible. Hopefully that makes sense.
What if it’s not allowing me to select anything, even though it’s saying my external has 629.77GB in free space and the existing installation is only 17.94GB?

Great video! Is it possible to create an 8th note rythmn in the bass line?
Thanks! Yes check out the 16:50 mark to create manual patterns. Cheers Georges
@@knuckledustermusic Is it possible to add a more advanced bass line within Logic but use the bass sounds from the new Session Bass player? I have a midi file so wanted to use the bass line from that? Cheers
Would it be useful to have instacomposer 2, rapid composer, Chris potion, etc… to get the chords from my sing I can’t remember . Older song. I know scaler 2 will do it. Will logic make the 8 notes reading my track if not how to do?
So if I switch over from ableton can I do this lay down drums and bass fast on my almost finished song? Load in same free plugin vst instruments?
Can logic read keys from audio if my track like scaler 2? Is that called transpose?
Ezkeys ez drummer 3 or captain chords epic is this session drum and bass ai better? To get chord progression scaler 2 to read my audio and ai writes drums bass groove? Than duck it?
