1. Interloper is much harder than Stalker, but Stalker has more wolves. 2. You're better off starting off during the day and getting used to managing your energy to sleep at night. 3. You're better off starting on medium difficulty, starting at Mystery Lake, and learning the map. On harder difficulties, even shelter may not be enough to warm you up. 4. Knowing where to find shelter or a cave is extremely important. 5. Sleeping is the easiest way to die. Keep an eye on your warmth and sleep for only a few hours if you're worried about it getting colder. Very important when sleeping outside or in a cave. Don't go to sleep thirsty/hungry. 6. Survival is basically permadeath. They did add a cheat death mechanic recently. 7. You are going to die but that's ok. Get used to it. 8. Drinking hot teas and eating hot food will increase your warmth meter, and they are very useful when traveling areas you are unfamiliar with.
The stones and wolf tips were a tad missleading during the live-stream... You'll NEVER kill a wolf with a small stone! lol. But wolves will react to stones, if they've not caught your scent you can throw a stone... and they'll investigate it, allowing you to pass.. you can sometime scare a locked on wolf with a stone (in very specific circumstances... best not to chance it) Wolves will never attack if you're within range of a lit campfire... if you see a pack of them coming, light a campfire... they'll growl at you, but wont engage! Wolves will charge/close distance from further afield if you've got your back to them and are running away... If you keep your eye's on them and keep moving away, they'll stalk you but not get too much closer, unless you have a high scent level :) You can loose a wolf by putting other prey between you and the wolf, like a rabbit... the wolf will get distracted and munch the rabbit instead of tracking you You can also drop meat/guts etc and the wolf will stop and munch that, loosing focus on you (i forget the keybind)
Love the Long Dark. Glad to see this series. Protip: Don't leave the barn you found in the middle of the night, into territory you're unfamiliar with. Wait until dawn. However, given that you did actually make it to the prison after doing that....but still had to deal with your infection and food poisoning, your best bet was making it to the prison infirmary instead of leaving the prison. The infirmary, as well as the workshop area, are two spots in the prison where you had a chance to stay warm, find food, and possibly find antiseptic and antibiotics. Leavng the prison for an unknown destination in your low health and affliction condition -- was an inevitable death. Staying, and investigating the other areas in the prison was really your only chance at that point.
Great to see you playing survival. Tip for you early game, when your fire starting skill is low: Light a torch (one match + gauranteed to light), then try to start a fire using the torch. That way you'll get multiple tries from a single match, if you fail as you'll still have your trusty torch :) The more fires you start, the higher your fire starting skill will become, the higher skill lvl the less chance of failed fires :) you'll get there :)
I heartly recommend you play on voyager difficulty to start, wildlife still attack you but is not plentiful. Doing the Tales would actually give you a direction and purpose to follow, which may help you at the start and viewers who have never played the game see how this game works. The most important in this game is to learn the maps, you can look them up online, but in the end Long Dark is putting hours into it... a lot of hours..
Broski you need to carry multiple torches on you at all times so you can light the torch once with a match instead of chancing losing the match trying to start a fire. Light the torch get multiple tries at the fire. Plus you can literally render wolfs not a threat by carrying a torch outside. If a wolf approaches with you with a torch it will not fully charge you. It will stop short. That’s when you equip a rock and aim it at the wolf. You don’t even need to throw it the wolf will run away
I was wondering this after watching this, and others play. If you have a torch or flare is it really necessary to keep stoping to throw the flare/torch, or even rocks? This only seems necessary for the storyline when you are fending off the plan crash survivor.
I wish I had caught this one live. Hopefully I will be around for the next one. You had some bad luck with the weather for the first few days there, but you are doing well so far. Just so you know what is around you, there is a cave near Trapper's Cabin that will lead you to Mountain Town (Milton from story mode). You walked past the entrance to the cave while running from the bear. You can also go through the dam to get to Pleasant Valley. That is the region Astrid was in with Molly in the story. Your other option is to head to Ravine then either Coastal Highway or Bleak Inlet from a path outside the dam. You already found the entrance to Forlorn Muskeg. I would not suggest Forlorn Muskeg or Bleak Inlet until you are more experienced with the game.
Shout out to the superchat asking about Freedom Fighters. A few weeks ago that game popped into my head and unlocked a memory. Good times, Milk or whatever he said your name was.
Found your channel from your demo of Into the Dead, games looks pretty sweet. I've played a good amount of The Long Dark and looking forward to watching you learn, good luck.
Also every time you open a can of food, you get another can, so you don't need to walk around with all those cans, especially with a cooking pot available
Indeed... some food types have a higher chance of food poisoning... Fish being one of them :) P.S the higher your cooking skill, the less chance of food poisoning&parisites :)
Hey Brian, hey first, when you first start out you have to lower the wolf, and timberwolves, the bears and other animals don't move that fast,so just do that until you figure out the landscape and how to survive and watch Zac channel for awhile but that is what I do.😊😊
I play on interloper but I’ve had the game for years.interloper is for veteran players that understand and have mastered all the game mechanics as well as having a lot of map knowledge. Most new players should be on voyager at first until they’re comfortable and then move to stalker before attempting interloper.
I am an interloper player. I would have told you to do the Voyager run until you got used to the game maps and mechanics. I am about to watch your video. I saw some comments and wanted to make mine.
It's okay to play on easy settings man, it's not a contest lol I'd much rather you see what the game has and can stretch to on easy settings than die all the time
Slow down and think about what you need to do. Remember every action takes time and calories and when you are outside you need to pay close attention to what you do
Some people whine about scurvy, but it's not a problem unless you are trying to or in super long games. Even on Stalker and interlooper it will take 25 days if you eat absolutly no vitamin C. And almost all food you find have vitamin C and all fish have vitamin C. All teas have vitamin C. Almost the only thing in the game that doesn't have vitamin C is game meat. Unless you are survivving on almost exclusivly game meat for a long time it's not somethign you will notice.
oh, you chose very difficult settings. Trust me, people who tell you they play the interloper, they don't really do it, so, don't listen to them. This game is difficult and stalker for a relatively unexperienced player is not good. it might be a constant pain ))))))
Aye stalker is V-hard compared to campaings, but i've faith that B can manage... it'll be a True challenge tho! P.S... TLD is a survival game... you know how many calories you need to survive IRL in sub-zero temps... lol. Tons of potatoes needed :P hehe. Certain conditions eat into your calories, like hypothermia and being V-cold :)
I actually do play Interloper. I also enjoy dropping it down to Stalker for a more casual run, but Interloper is 100% doable once you are experienced with the game. That being said, I would not recommend it to anyone without a ton of time in the game already.
@caanonweathers2831 that's what I mean, interloper is cool when you have played thousands of hours already. But you have to practice on voyager for some time, because playing a story mode does not prepare you for anything 🤭
You got like the worst random start, hahaha. Bleak inlet is tough, and at night.... just plain bad luck. This game is pretty brutal on interloper, definitely good not to play that as a newer player.
Your chat wasn’t really helping you, reishi tea would have fixed your food poison and it says that in the description. Spawn at mystery lake next time, give yourself a fighting chance to learn the game
Every time you map a location, it is 15 mins, you were not even warm yet and you went right back out to map !! Thankfully it was a blizzard cuz you would have hurt yourself even more. You really have to think in this game, especially you noobs

This is an AMAZING playthrough already! Please keep doing more of this!!

Never thought I'd find this type of LP entertaining, but I've watched 2 other lp's of long dark survival mode. Hope you continue.

when the character said “when am i gunna die, i just wanna die” fucken killed me
And when the character talks, he is giving you hints what you need to do, very important hints. You ignored the very first 2 he gave you
damn wish i knew this was being played again to watch live
1.12.00 try not to burn your skill books unless your in real trouble,
save accelerant for emergencies
I am an interloper player. I would have told you to do the Voyager run until you got used to the game maps and mechanics. I am about to watch your video. I saw some comments and wanted to make mine.
I missed the story mode, so this brand new for me. Looks cool!
Hope you enjoy it!
Dang miss the live also good luck try that 500 day run best luck brother
Never walk out at night…. You either stay put and sleep or pass the time til morn
It's okay to play on easy settings man, it's not a contest lol I'd much rather you see what the game has and can stretch to on easy settings than die all the time
did aberation get the best of you bro??? great vids
Excellent!!
Nice stream, keep it coming plz! :)
Brian at the rate you use up fuel you are just gonna die in 4-5 days no matter what
Slow down and think about what you need to do. Remember every action takes time and calories and when you are outside you need to pay close attention to what you do

You should try "Tunguska thé visitation"
Great stream
Temp and decay really only effect days 50+
road to 500 days?

So many little mistakes…. Time management being your detriment. Not using both cooking spots, just little things that you will get after 50 hrs or so
Do more Starfield!
Why would you start on a custom game difficulty?
Niceeee
Damn chat must really not wanna see Long Dark anymore 😥 Ya'll please get it to 1k ugh lol
You got like the worst random start, hahaha. Bleak inlet is tough, and at night.... just plain bad luck.
This game is pretty brutal on interloper, definitely good not to play that as a newer player.
Why you wasting matches with a lit flare in your hand ?
Gameplay starts @18:19 ish..
💯💯💪💪
No i missed it

I love this game but stalker is just annoying. So. Freaking. Many. Wolves!

Comments count! Never trust fish in a can!!!
