Ever since I quit all social media (except RUclips obviously), mental health has skyrocketed and I’m more content with my own life. We don’t need to constantly know what everyone else is doing
Never cared for Tik Tok, and since I got my new phone I decided to not re-download Twitter and FB. Its been nice not having zealots from either side constantly trying to force-feed me their ideals.
dont tell that to a millenial, Zucky, or that weird Twatter dude. I realize im on it now, but I dont believe Boobtube is healthy either. I call all of it, the "Look at Me" Generation.
Ok, so I had 2 nieces visit me from another country recently; They're 22yr old twins, and the entire time they were just staring into their phones. They're really sweet girls; But we'd be driving somewhere and I'd say "What do you think of the mountains there?" - And they'd be like "Huh?"...glance away from their phones, out the window, say they're nice,. and go back to the phone. It kinda killed my desire to bring them anywhere because they were not mentally present most of the time...just staring into the phone like it had them ina trance. I told them, "you've come all this way and you won't remember seeing anything, because you're living in your phone" I think we're all going to pay a big price for this lack of human to human interaction - we already kinda are, but wait another couple of generations
why wait a couple of generations? it is happening in front of your very own eyes. Silence is compliance...you should've thrown your nieces phones in the garbage and tell them that phones can be replaced but humans cannot.
Speaking of twins, I know a girl who has a twin sister. They’ve been raised separate as the result of their parents divorcing. Her mom raised her strictly, limiting her time on social media and phone usage. Her twin got a more hands off approach with her dad. But the rare occasions when I do meet them both, I immediately notice my friend (raised by mom) is a lot more self assured, passionate, and has a lot of optimism towards life, compared to her twin, who’s a lot more muted, doesn’t share much, and is always pointing out the flaws in things. They’re identical twins and is why I completely side with nurture when it comes to the nurture v nature debate.
Since taking the apps off my phone (except RUclips) I’ve been so much happier. Live your life that’s in front of you, spend what little time we have with your family

The only social media i use is yt for information purposes WhatsApp and discord are necessities for communication purposes and lastly reddit because reddit is reddit

I think it’s because the majority of the worlds population now has access to the Internet so they really can’t grow anymore they’ve hit a ceiling and it’s probably not going to grow very much from here because of population growth stagnation there are only a handful of countries in the world that are above replacement level also the increasing popularity of alternative social media platforms
Yep, I deleted instagram and snapchat years ago and TikTok a bit more after that and I really do have a better outlook on my life. these things really screw you up, no joke.
It is obvious that it is slowing down, all media companies have reached the limits of how many people use the internet, how the reputation is among Facebook, twitter etc., how advertising is used and that many people are sick and tired of this

I totally agree I only have RUclips and Pinterest on my phone. Deleted instagram and been more happier and more productive

I only use Facebook for the messenger app. I don't take the other apps seriously. I use the phone to stream movies and videos on different paid apps
