Great timing! Just waiting on my Cotton Carrier Vest being delivered and you've re-affirmed my decision. I've learned the hard way the old adage "buy cheap : buy twice". Theres a reason the CC is 6x times the cost. I already have their Strapshot and it's very good. I think the greatest potential benefit of the system is that it might make you more inclined to take your camera on a walk or at a time when photography isn't your main priority and you'll get a great photo opportunity which you would normally have missed because you didn't have your camera with you. (That may be more applicable to the Strapshot rather than the Vest as the vest is a bit more hardcore.) Thats my only concern; the vest looks a wee bit over-kill or like a piece of tactical gear but as I live in a crap climate where it's seldom warm/hot it will usually be part concealed by a jacket or an overshirt anyway so no big deal! I have also bought one of the combined button/tripod plate/mount so the camera can be removed from the carrier and put straight onto a tripod head which will make the whole system more functional. The adapter plates seem overly expensive for what they are, but I guess if I was selling them I wouldn't be complaining.....Thanks for the comprehensive review!
Hi Lapwing Visual Media, Outstanding! Welcome! When You consider the Value of Gear, this is safe keeping and safe Mounting! Granted the Wearer may look odd but the Video Camera is as ready as can be! You do get use to the Vest. As well as getting into and out of it. Appreciate Your Comments! Thanks for Watching! Enjoy!
Hi Chris Kirby, Absolutely! Takes some getting use to the harness. Memory muscle kicks in after 4 times. Then You get the rhythm of it. After having used the Cotton carrier all last Summer every day on bike trails both paved and not paved, yes! That mount is safe and secure. I look like a geek with a Video camera strapped to my chest but that's not the point! On a mountain bike, that's as ready as ready can be! And still keep the gear safe and secure. Even survived 1 fall. Video Camera staid put! Worth it! We may do a follow-up video showing that gear and how we roll outfitted for bear so to speak. Good investment. Thanks for watching!
Hi Connie, Welcome! I hear what You're saying. And I too was concerned about the fit. Suggest buying one on Amazon. Returnable if it does not meet Your needs. Straps are adjustable. Right arm and over the head. Buckle up on left side. Hope that helps! The safety of the Gear and the comfort of the vest! This works! What a detailed review ! Thanks so much for the comparison - big help ! A question that pops up is whether the straps that fall over the shoulders are adjustable. I am not that tall don't want it reaching my stomach instead of the chest. Would both have the adjustable feature or one or none is what I am wondering. Maybe you covered it and I could not catch it. Thank you
Hi Kahanis - Golden Bytes, Welcome! Appreciate Your Comments! The Cotton Camera Harness System works and has held up well, keeping the Video Camera Safe and Secure over time! Not really any way to Adjust the Height based on Length of Vest. Video Camera is balanced on the Vest length. What You're asking would be nice. The Nicama is just a cheap copy of the Cotton Camera Harness System. I like having both Hands free while on a Mountain Bike scouting Alligators!
If it comes down to just how they feel (Comfort) how much of a difference is it in field? I have the Nicama and I'm happy with everything accept the feel on how it pulls from the back, wondering if upgrading to the cotton would make a difference.
Hi Jecerey, Welcome. Just now seeing Your comment through RUclips Studio. Good question. Did you try the Cotton Carrier? Our greatest concern is the Camera mount mechanism over time.
Hi Thomas Manson, Welcome! This was more about an Unboxing and First Impressions Comparison. Thank You for Your Comments. After having used the Cotton Camera Harness System this is the best choice for Us to carry Our Video Camera into the wild. The Mounting system works and continues to function. We still keep the Video Camera on a Strap, just in case. And I still struggle a bit putting the Vest on in the field for Transport. Feels like a Tactical Vest. Just less restrictive.
Just received my Nicama and the strap on the left is used to tighten around the waist and lock down the lens with velcro. So far, so good.
Hi BH,
Welcome. Our greatest concern is the Camera mount. Appreciate your info on the strap.
Agreed on the mount. I will be field testing with a 150-600 lens I just bought for my Nikon on an upcoming Yellowstone trip. 😮
Hi@badgpaw55,
Safe travels. Keep a close eye on that. Otherwise, enjoy. Looking forward to your follow-up afterwards.

Thank you, reaffirmed my choice of Cotton carrier.

Thanks for your review! I'm about to purchase the Nicama due to my budget
VAMOS CON TODA, Thank You for Watching! Understandable. Just consider Your Video Camera! You don't want that tearing lose!
I just wish a few women photographers would provide a review. It's different for women. I want to buy a Cotton one, but worried it won't fit right.

I have both harnesses, cotton is far superior.
Hi Roy,
Welcome. Just now seeing Your comment through RUclips Studio. Yes. Agreed.
You should use the equipment more before you try to make an instructional video.
