Product photography is a huge industry. Having amazing product photos is really important when you’re trying to sell online. However, it’s not as hard as it seems. In this video I am going to teach you how to take super simple and professional product photos.
With this method you will be able to use items you have at home and if there are some things you don’t have, it will cost you less than $10 for all the materials. I got all the items at Walgreens but if you’d prefer to order them online, here is the links below:
12x9 White Foam Core: amzn.to/3Ftx8sA
Packing Tape: amzn.to/3epndbr
White Baking Paper: amzn.to/312wJOU
I couldn’t find the large flexible white paper on Amazon, so I advise just going to Walgreens, Walmart, etc. It’ll be cheaper.

Sir this video is a golden nugget... I was having problem with my Ebay photo taking process. And by watching your video.. I learned a lot about Photography which is not my career. I am a truck driver but you're explaining things super simple to understand with comparable example . I am forever owe you this knowledge. Thank you so much for sharing sir Simpson..
@@DucTran-lo7sj that’s awesome! Love to hear it!
This tutorial was so helpful. I really liked how simple and approachable the video was. Nothing flashy or weird, and you just used simple things you can find at home or the mall. Amazing video, man.
That’s awesome! So good to hear 😄
i am not eng speaker, i watched ur videos with subtitles and google translate, thx for ur work man !
That’s awesome! Glad it was helpful
Excellent video not only did you provide an inexpensive set up but , but showed the effects of using the different lighting elements which is crucial for beginning photographers thank you so much best video on youtube!
whew! now thats a compliment! Thank you!
late to the party but this is literally the perfect video
Wooot! Love it!
Awesome video. I've done something similar, but wasn't aware that about using white surfaces on the sides and the "cloud". I will definitely add it to the setup.
Here's a tip from me. You can buy a picture frame with glass for pretty cheap and put the glass flat on the surface underneath the item. It creates a cool reflection!
Also, I put everything except the light source inside a large cardboard box (with 2 walls removed) which allows for the setup to be mobile.
Genius!!! The glass on the bottom is a great idea!
Personally, I like the natural light with nothing else the best for product photos. It clearly shows the correct color and allows the details of imperfection to come through. I think the examples you provided show that. I have the lowest return rate when I just take photos outside, instead of indoors with lamps and a box.
I love the lifestyle (outdoors) photos as well more than the “studio” work. But both are needed in my opinion to make good sales.
i just found this channel, i love how you know how to talk to real real beginners!
yay! Glad you found me! Welcome :)
First time in 3 years trying to get my products´ photos right that someone actually explained why and where to use the white "bouncing" cardboard and the "cloud". Now it makes sense. THANK YOU!
thats awesome to hear!
Bro could be a good photography teacher ❤
@@shoedesirepakistan I do :)
Thank you so much. I literally realized I had my cubby (cube organizer shelf) unit that i could use the little cube as a light box. I already had a can light and diffused it and put a white board behind the cube section of shelf. THANK YOU!
boom! Love the ingenuity !
The best advice I ever got from my comrade teacher about photography was patience and diligence.
It’s so true! Unfortunately I have little of it 😂😂
I started a woodworking business, and have been struggling to get the pictures I take to show my work in the way I want. I will be giving these tips a shot. Thank you!
That’s awesome!
Bro you definitely earned my like and subscribe. It’s the least I can do for you sharing something this valuable for free. Thanks so much for your help. You’ve made a difference.
wooot! Thats huge! I appreciate it!
I appreciate this video so much. I’ve been struggling with not having enough natural lighting at home for my photos and it’s making me less motivated. Your setup is what I needed. Thank you so much for your knowledge and willingness to share!
That’s great to hear! And you’re very welcome :)

NICE! Good luck in your new business and let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
Hello and thank you for posting this video, just from seeing the DIY ideas shown in this video I better realize that I don’t need to spend so much money on specific accessories to get good results, I can just use my mind and what material is available. Much appreciated and to all content creators helping others out. 👍
gotta love it!
Automatic subscriber....finally a video for actual beginners without the fancy equipment...now I'm about to binge watch all your videos lol
This is my favorite comment ☺️ I’m so glad you found it helpful. I look forward to what you think of my other videos. They range from beginner to advanced so you have a variety
7:49 this right here will save me time using "curves" in a photo editor to lighten it up and sacrificing quality that the extra light would give it.
awesome!
This is a game changer. I hope your business and channel flourishes. Thanks for the info!
Thank you so much! Your comment definitely helps :)

Wow! You just changed my whole photo life!! Thanks for sharing! Sharing is caring!
Absolutely!!!
Really great tutorial! I do LEGO photography, and I often find myself shooting indoors. I am a very beginner and this tutorial will help me a lot. I have used the "cloud" trick but not the bounce. But I have a question for you, if I may. I often have difficulty while shooting indoors, because of the ambient lights. I'll try to explain: if I have an ambient light, let's say from a window or from a roof lamp, I will have shadows coming from different directions. How can I avoid this? I am seeing in this video that you are using a table lamp but also some other source of lights, but no shadows are coming from the "not visible" source. As I was saying, I am a really beginner, hoping to get some advice from a pro. I am subscribing to your channel, cause I really like your contents!
couple options, you can turn off the ambient lights (if not outside light), or cover it up and just use your lights. You can also bring your light closer to the item to overpower the other light. The reason my shadows are less is because the white bottom, back and left side are reflecting the light and overpowering the shadows.
Its all about just tweaking until you find what works. Hope this helps.
@@willsimpsonphoto thank you, I will definitely follow your tips!
The shadow gives a bit of perspective, otherwise it may look like it’s floating in the air.
This was a helpful, straightforward video. Thanks for bringing us back to basics and explaining things with ease.
Glad I could help :)

This tutorial is excellent !! It is exactly what I needed to start selling a few household items on social media. Thanks a bunch!! I decided to subscribe because I use to take photos with my old DSLR Nikon 40 but got away from that d/t time, learning more about my camera and of course my iPhone 12 takes fairly good photos. You inspired me get the old camera out and hook it up to my tripod and get started. Maybe I will start taking more pictures again if I can learn a few things on your channel.
