As a support in bronze atm, it’s super hard to keep everyone alive because nobody is trying to take cover at all 😂 they just run into mid, eat a ton of dps, then spam “need healing” glad to hear you making such a point of positioning
lol well I'm sorry to tell you that it doesn't get any better in higher ranks. The best advice I can give you is to make a group, talk to the people about running out and taking damage and if they do it anyway, kick them from the group and find people who will cooperate.
I was playing with one of my bronze tank friends as a silver support when I used to be plat support my friend was constantly sitting behind the dps and support I would tell him to get in front and tank but he took me too literal and jumped out of cover and just ran straight into them it’s hard to be support now because off tanks are used to being there to deal damage and get picks while main tanks are used to being helped by off tanks so they don’t get dps bursted and die instantly we need all the old tank mains to adapt to the 5v5 and only one tank. But most are still playing like it’s 6v6 and don’t expect to be punished for pushing into a group of enemies.
@@MfReverb Generally at those ranks, the team that actually develops a plan and sticks together is going to win. Like, the plan doesn't even have to be a good one. Pretty much as long as your team is working together at all, you're going to win a match in bronze because I can guarantee the other team isn't going to group up and is just going to run in individually and get smoked.
You do get rewarded for good positioning though. In general, if you take less damage while dealing damage, you will win more of your lower rank games than you lose.

Stylosa, can you make a video teaching players how to take angles, reposition and protect themselves? A lot of support players tend to know this from OW1 but now all players need to learn this in OW2.
So I am the hanzo in question in the video, when I submitted this clip it was a bit of a meme as I knew I was going up the ranks eventually. This game I played really sloppy and it's mostly because playing at that tier of play kind of reinforced my bad habits that I picked up elsewhere. Now that I've played a few games I've actually made my way up to plat 4 and am still climbing. I might submit a replay later if you would be interested in seeing the bronze to diamond transformation!
Great work! Good thing your in the comments engaging and taking feedback. Just make sure you pick up whatever you can from the comments and video to get better.
@@_Bxndit_ I've been putting all the advice to mind and I've been able to fix a couple of bad habits I still had lingering from these lower rank games. Thanks for the nice comment!
Good job. You were probably not playing with and against bronze players though. Even though your rank was bronze, your MMR was not that of a bronze player.
That's cool. The submitted game is still a great example of what NOT to do. I'm not throwing shade, it's genuinely helpful. Many people wouldn't put their mistakes on display like this for others to critique, so thank you.
I got ranked into bronze 2 as well (as support so far) and it's great to hear that I'm going up against old gold players because I barely touched ranked in ow1 and I feel like I'm holding my own in the games. I love the new ranked system where it doesn't show adjustments every game because we know we can't win every game so it feels much better to get an overall adjustment over a certain amount of games. Positioning is something I do need to work on for sure so this was a really useful video, especially as I don't play hanzo much but having some joy with him in qp while trying him out.
Really enjoyed the Kurt Russell jokes in this one Sty. When he killed Hanson with the tac visor, well Hanzo got ran over by the Pork Chop Express on Route 66.
There's something that's so satisfying about watching a good player in a tier they don't belong in, yeah its a shame they're placed wrong but it's like knowing the protagonist of a series will succeed one day if they stay motivated
I was high diamond/low masters in OW1 years ago. I haven't played comp in a long time. I am back in it and It placed me in bronze 5 despite not dropping a game in my placements lol. I've climbed to gold, but it's tough going so far.
The biggest adjustment for me in OW2 is staying alive as DPS. Didn't realize how much I was relying on two tanks to absorb attention/damage. First few DPS games I played, I died every time I looked at the enemy. It felt really bad. Fortunately, practice is helping correct that.
I have heard some streamers say that people are basically 2 tiers lower than OW1 intentionally, so that they have some feel good games after placing. Sounds like it could be what caused the bug where some GMs are getting bronze. With gold an plat being where the most players are, then it stands to reason that most people will end up in bronze/silver
In six years of playing overwatch on and off and having most time played with Mercy I never knew about the guardian angel boost and it was a game changer for sure. I die way less and have much more mobility. In turn helping my team more. That mercy video a couple days ago was really helpful man
Hey, just wanted to say I really appreciate the new details in your videos, specifically the jazz music and the lower depth of field of the camera. Gives it all now style. Keep it up :)
I’m so glad to see OverAnalyzed back. I never really tired to get better in OW1 since I mostly played QP but I’m looking forward to trying to reach those higher ranks in OW2 (I peaked Diamond on Support)
I'm only 27, so when Stylosa asked if we know who Kurt Russell is, my mind instantly goes to Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and The Hateful Eight. That's literally it. lol.
I think a lot of Overwatch players are used to not having to play the game like an FPS (using cover, getting maximum value out of your primary fire, picking your battles etc). The game now plays like an objective based shooter rather than a first person MOBA.
As someone that climbed a couple of times out of bronze i can tell you that having good positioning is only good for keeping yourself alive. So many times i lost because i didnt follow my team into spawn camp letting them fight a 4v5
Positioning too defensively when you have an advantage is not "good positioning". Just because you're controlling a "good position" doesn't mean you're well positioned.
3:30 Just my 2 cents as a Hanzo player. I don't think it's a bad idea to be on the low ground on that first fight. It's much much easier to align headshots if you're shooting straight, not down. If you throw a recon arrow, you can very easily get a pick on someone turning the corner. However I think they should stay close to a wall so they can very quickly hide behind it and climb to the high ground if the enemy starts pushing or if they have 1 shot potential. Great video as usual :D
Yeah I used to be high gold back in OW1 (mostly as a healer/tank), got dropped into bronze FIVE. Apparently a lot of people are having the same issue and their rank is not budging even if they win a ton more. I'll just wait until they fix the system...
You are the best fucking example, those videos of "THIS BRONZE PLAYER IN OVERWATCH 2........." are nothing more than bullshit because the current bronze players are actually gold players
