Good tips but you missed a major step. Lice can live up to two days without a host on your pillow, sheets, couch, car headrest, etc. barring extreme weather situations. You need to vacuum your residence and car and wash bedclothes and clothing in very hot water and run through a dryer. Also, vinegar (apple cider or white, doesn't matter) will dissolve the "glue" holding the lice eggs to the hair shaft with an added bonus that lice don't like it anyway.
It’s an easy fix. My son had very long locs and caught head lice. Despite the fact that he would curl up with me on the sofa, I never caught them. Then it hit me like a bolt of lightning. I straighten my hair. No lice could withstand the heat of my straighteners. So I sat my son down and clamped the loc one by one near to the root and that was all. After months of lotions and potions, I eradicated the fleas and eggs using this method in a matter of days. Ok, he had funny flat dreads for a few hours but they returned to normal very quickly. No shaving, no chemicals. He is now 20 and still has his locs. Lice free of course.
@@DabbaHashery glad I could help. Trust me, it works extremely quick so don’t panic if you do get them. I have heard too many story’s where people have cut their locs. It’s a shame because this solution was so easy.
@@hassanfarhat3878 I think they must walk up and down the hair shaft. The lice are attached quite close to the scalp but I know from experience that it kills them without scalding your head. The steam and or heat produced from the tong’s kills them. When I rid my son of them, as horrible as it sounds, you could hear the eggs popping. He had loads of them because I struggled for so long to get rid of them and him being in primary school, they pass from child to child so easily.
Eggs hatch between 5 to 8 days, so if you are doing a treatment every 3 days, then you may get away with 3 treatments, 4 to 5 for the 110% certainty that you are lice free. Hope this helps!
I had them and I used to have a hole head of long dreads, I've tried them all but there were nothing to do. I had to cut them off completely, and now they are so short, like 10 cm. that's so unfair isn't it?
Oh dear god... this just made my head itch so so much... I can imagine it would be a nightmare for people who have small children because dealing with lice on “normal hair” is bad enough!
I have dreads and my kids got lice from school. After 3 months of lice shampoo every other day I found out that lice are becoming resistant to chemicals. I started using vinegar and spraying everything with Lysol disinfectant. Word wonders. Downfall is my kids school won't send kids home with lice so it kept coming back. I started spraying their hair with diluted mouthwash after wading the vinegar out and they stopped bringing them home
I really am a tea tree fan. I used tot have a dreaded dog. In addition of fleadrops I always had a home made tea tree spray to prevent any bugs getting in the dogs dreads. So I allways use the same on my own dreads. From experience with dogs it's better to be safe than sorry. (do not use tea tree on your cat btw, it will kill them)
That is such an issue, I got them from somebody, and now I can't normally live. It all started last month, and I killed them all with the shampoo by regularly washing my head each day during the week. I felt like finally, no more lices, but they are back. I checked my dreads very precisely and found a huge nest of eggs almost around the whole head... And I'm fucked. I have my trip planned to Brazil this summer, and I don't want to shave before. Please, wish me good luck on this war, because I'm so annoyed and honestly pretty much afraid. It's a terrible issue, and I hope I'll save my hair.
Oh, and by the way - eggs period is 21 days, so when you killed all of the lices, and half of the eggs, for example, you still gonna get them back sometime after.
I've had dreads for over ten years with no issues... then I hugged my niece D: Here's to at least a month of pouring alcohol on my dreads every three days! Wish me luck >,
You saved my hair!!! Thank you!!! Apparently I got it from my little niece! We didn't find out till the school sent a letter home! Anyway thank you soo much, my dreads are only 18mths old but I really didn't want to start over or shave my head!
I'm glad you made this video. It's really good to know in case something like ever happens to me. Also, I get to show this to my mother who is adamant about getting rid of my dreadlocks by infesting me with lice. She firmly believes I would have to shave my head completely to remove all of the lice. I kid you not - she's a school nurse and said she'd get one of the kids with lice to come near me in hopes that I will contract that awful fate. So thank you thank you thank you for this informative video.
Damn! Your mom legit sounds like she has a pathological hatred for your dreads if she's willing to "borrow" some kid with lice to purposely infest your head with the little buggers in hopes of you being forced to shave it!
That’s what I’ve heard. Listerine works because the mint (natural insect repellent) combined with alcohol content. A lot of times people try to suffocate the lice which may work up to a percentage, but the problem lies with how long lice can live without oxygen. It’s like homeboy said, you have to keep repeating the process until you’re 110% sure they are all dead.
I've never gotten lice and I've always wanted dreadlocks. Also, I have a friend who has dreadlocks and she makes a detox mixture and it works real well.
My mom thinks that lice are in dreadlocks more often and it is her main reason against me having them. Do you have an idea what I could say against it? I actually can't really think of one apart from: lice happen in every style of hair.
it could even be the other way around. It might be harder for lice to hold on to the loc and penetrate a dreadhead until the bastards get to the scalp. This might motivate lice to go on a non dreadhead.
Stop worrying about what mommy thinks or says to manipulate you into submission. You don’t have to explain your hair choices to anyone; it’s your hair.
Lice are my number two dread paranoia (right after hair loss, which is genetically predestined in my case). I stopped wearing hats - unpleasant in winter - because I'm scared of someone of my friends takes it and puts it on and he might have lice and... Maybe I'm overreacting but just to be sure...
Thank you for your video. I'm doing some research because my daughter wants to grow dreadlocks and I'm concern about the lice in school. It is already bad with no dreads that i don't want to imagine the troubles that I have to go with her and me, trying to get rid of lice on her and my dreads. How long do you have to leave the alcohol with the bag on the head? You do it over night? You do it during the day and then rinse and dry before going to bed? Well thank you
I'm about to start my lock journey in a few weeks 😌🤗😬and I ran across this video which I'm glad I did. My daughter goes to a school that seems to get lice really bad, I'm super picky with my daughter and do bi-weekly treatments as a preventative course of action, so this was nice to run into for future mistakes.
Hello everyone, I currently have lice in my dreads. A real nightmare for any dreadhead. However, there are very good non-chemical treatments that can kill both lice and eggs with one application. It's not that cheap, but if you wanna keep your dreads it's the price you must be willing to pay I guess... Get yourself Licener Shampoo and Hedrin Spray Gel. Both work in the same way and I simply use Hedrin first and wash it out with the Shampoo. It's relatively oily, but effective. I will repeat the treatment again in a few days and until then I spray my hair and clothes with a mixture of water plus tea tree and lavender oil a few times a day. And don't forget to wash all your stuff at 60 degrees or alternatively put it in plastic bags for several days or in the freezer for 48 hours. Check if anything still lives on your head by shaking your dreads above the bathtub or let someone check your roots 😅 I can keep you updated if I got rid of them the way I handle it. But I got a good feeling that it'll work.
Yeah I just got lice in my locks recently, if the treatment I’m using doesn’t work I’ll try what you did, I’m stressing out here😅 my locks go past my waist so I have a lot of hair
I used isopropyl 99.9% and yeah hard to breath hahahaha and never had them since so if anyone want to know what to do then isopropyl 99.9% is the answer.
my grandma put kerosene on my sister's head and she had an allergic reaction but the lice weren't there anymore. So it does work.......just hope you are not allergic......hehehehe
Gianina Valla continue doing the alcohol soak every 3 days for two weeks while cleaning your home and clothes it's a pain but it can be done. Continue to kill them as they hatch until they are gone

Hello Chris, what would you suggest if my dreadlocks are full of fallen off hair whith their follicles that dreaded in (the white bottoms)? some people think that it's flakes untill i say it . good videos , keep then coming :)
Okay when I was very early in my dreading process I had gotten lice. I did what this video told me and some other sources had, it worked, I have no living dreads on my head. HOWEVER, after suffocating and killing the living live a great great number of dead but eggs are still in my hair. Obviously due to the matted hair and such combing these eggs out is not really possible, I mean the hairs it's on are all not really dreaded yet. Just the tips not so much at the roots yet, but still I don't want to undo the process and comb them out I'd much rather just figure out something to do. Online sources have gotten me no where and I don't wish to scare any of my friends who may think I still have lice so please can someone tell me what to do to remove dead nit eggs without combing my hair. Thank you.
Wash your dreads. Keep your dreads clean, and doing the occasional ACV soak. I’d also think using a blow dryer on your roots would help as well. Lice or not, regular washing of your dreads should be a given.
can I use a regular shampoo and then use a bs and acv cleanse to rid my dreads of junk? I don't have my dreads due to the fact I can't afford extra things for hair care so I haven't started for fear of getting dread rot or something going wrong lol

I would recommend deep cleaning the dreadlocks to try and lift some of it and remove any residue that may be collecting lint. Some lint however may need to be manually picked out with a needle if it's well and truly lodged in.
another way is spray them with Raid or any insects spray and let if dry out ur head for about 15-20 minuts then shower it twice after that and make sure its clean and do it 2-3-4 times and ull be fine after
The method I've seen used involves soaking the dreads at scalp level with rubbing alcohol, covering the dreads with a plastic bag to trap the fumes, then wait 30 minutes.
+Lazy Dreads cool. Ample time has passed and I can rinse. will I see any bugs come out with the shampoo. I'm not even very sure I have them myself. I've been itching but it could have been all the sweat drying on my scalp this summer.
If your little sister gets nits again- put conditioner in her hair straight away- coz it stops them from going anywhere and keeps them away from your dreads! I had to do this with my daughter before I got nit cream, to keep them away from me! nit do not like conditioner! (-:
Found a lice in my hair today, gonna start the 3 day lice shampoo this week😩🙌🏽 had my dreads since dec31 2018 and it started forming into dreads 2019 hope this goes well 😔
we ate foster parents and this is something I'm a little worried about one day. If kids are pulled from a dirty home they are more likely to have lice...not happy about that idea...but for now our kids don't haha so am happy
The internet sent me looking at all these bullshit lice treatment options. Stand on one leg and rub butter on your head for 7 hours every day for 2 years blah blah blah. Just use the fricken shampoo.
I just found lice in my dreads after suspecting it. I'm going to cut my hair a bit and brush the rest out out. Mother nature has propelled me into my next phase in life and that I take with grace and excitement. Plus I just can't stand the thought of having lice egg shells and dead lice in my dreads forever...
Excuse me , but I came from a world of real men. World war two veterans. Their hair was cut , they were always clean shaven , clean clothes without holes, no fucking tattoos except maybe a sailor, once in awhile. If some asshole would have come along with dreadlocks, they would have sheared his head and then kicked the piss out of him. Today we seem to live in a world of freaks!
You seem to have a great deal of unresolved issues that you're dealing with. Fortunately help is much easier to come by now. I recommend you seek assistance to work through these issues before they express themselves in ways more harmful to you and those around you.

is it possible to remove the dead lice with a deep cleanse?

Yes, soak in vinegar. The acetic acid removes the "glue" from the nits.

i should of done that i did afterwards as a precaution but kerosine killed everything ahaha
+mark is a lowlife good idea.
my grandma put kerosene on my sister's head and she had an allergic reaction but the lice weren't there anymore. So it does work.......just hope you are not allergic......hehehehe
what about the Eggs? aka the Nits ? how doyou you get them out without combing them ?
Gianina Valla continue doing the alcohol soak every 3 days for two weeks while cleaning your home and clothes it's a pain but it can be done. Continue to kill them as they hatch until they are gone
I had a friend who rubbed his dreadlocks on a child, he's on a very special register now. I no longer talk to him.
Haha!
Rubbed his dreads on a child? how?
Okay i got it no problem!
Haha
FYI. The shampoo is very bad for your hair. It will dry out your hair if u use it too much. Directions say only every 10days or something like that. Had lice in fifth grade.
My aunt used that shampoo over n over and her hair was fried!!
What about the dead lice carcass.... Do you just keep them in there..?
They wash out! The deep cleanse wash for dreads is a good one for that! Check out lazydread's deep clean vid for dreads! x
I work as a playland attendant at fred meyer and that's where I got it...I will by tying them up in a bun now...
I had them one time before but it was like 3 years ago or so
I have dreads for 2 years now and I don’t wana cut my hair at all and I’m scared and don’t know wat to do ,please can somebody help ,does this actually work
Did it work?
just saved my dreads.
@lazydreads how about removing the eggs(nits)?? like you said you cant comb them out.
Watch the whole vidio, idiot
What happens to all the dead lice ? Do they just fall out or do you just have a lice graveyard in your dreads ??
Lice, if you had them, would not be INSIDE the dreads
my head is soaked in spirit. my face burns
Do they not find theyre way into the base of locs?
I’m gonna be smothering them in mayo every two days for a week an a half, wish me luck cause I’m stressing out😅 as far as I'm concerned it's a small infestation, less than 10 were found, I've had my dreads for over 4 years 😬
My dreads are only 1 year old, will they be okay with any method?
Hello Chris, what would you suggest if my dreadlocks are full of fallen off hair whith their follicles that dreaded in (the white bottoms)? some people think that it's flakes untill i say it . good videos , keep then coming :)
Watch his previous vid :)
thx:) just skipped one vid and here's what i get

Did you have to cut your hair ?
this was 2 years ago but apple cider vinegar loosens the glue that attaches the eggs to your hair.
hahah "lice suck... your bloooood" 😃
How long should i keep the lice shampoo in
can I use a regular shampoo and then use a bs and acv cleanse to rid my dreads of junk? I don't have my dreads due to the fact I can't afford extra things for hair care so I haven't started for fear of getting dread rot or something going wrong lol
i shaved my head had eggs every where
Would anyone know of a way to prevent getting lice, such as adding tea tree oil to my shampoo, etc?
We have an oily lice schampoo
It is literally pure oiliness lol
People here get it when they are pregnant or children. I really want dreads but i have a son so i am terrified that he will bring lice home one day
I am just a bit skeptical... like.. do the hatched eggs just disappear someday lol
Good thing there's social distancing
I'm sure if there was a lice-like pandemic people would follow the rules without hesitation.
How could I ever stop rubbing my dreads on kids? Is there grouptherapy or forum or something for that? Oo
Maybe on 4chan, I recon...
This is literally the ONE thing I hate about having dreads.
i used kerosine
What's the best way to remove lint / fluffs from dreads
I would recommend deep cleaning the dreadlocks to try and lift some of it and remove any residue that may be collecting lint. Some lint however may need to be manually picked out with a needle if it's well and truly lodged in.
Don't rub your dreadlocks on children guys
If you I ever get lice, I would just cut and shave of everything.
Donna pookie 1987 dreads since aug09
Haha why did i watch this lol. Now my head itches
Thxu... Your video makes total sense

OMG IT SUCKS!!!! Theres a reason i watched this... yup Lice in my dreads...
Found a lice in my hair today, gonna start the 3 day lice shampoo this week😩🙌🏽 had my dreads since dec31 2018 and it started forming into dreads 2019 hope this goes well 😔
How did it work for you
If you press a hairdryer against your scalp and locks for 15-30 seconds you should be fine because the heat is too intense for the lice to survive.
we ate foster parents and this is something I'm a little worried about one day. If kids are pulled from a dirty home they are more likely to have lice...not happy about that idea...but for now our kids don't haha so am happy
It’s a myth that lice come from dirty environments, they actually like clean hair much better😔
The internet sent me looking at all these bullshit lice treatment options. Stand on one leg and rub butter on your head for 7 hours every day for 2 years blah blah blah. Just use the fricken shampoo.
But now I feel ichy..yuk..lolol
Lice sucks, only had it once and i was so upset.
Very thankful to have avoided them the whole time I've had dreads!
I hope when I fianlly dread my hair I never get lice
diatomaceous earth works
I’m i the only who noticed that he talks like jack sparrow
ewwww didn't want to think about this part D:
omg XX thank you for this
I just found lice in my dreads after suspecting it. I'm going to cut my hair a bit and brush the rest out out. Mother nature has propelled me into my next phase in life and that I take with grace and excitement. Plus I just can't stand the thought of having lice egg shells and dead lice in my dreads forever...
I would love to be able, to plant lice in anybody's head, with dreadlocks
Seems pretty psychotic, bud. You might wanna speak to a professional about these recurring thoughts.
I am not the one with dreadlocks , looking like an asshole
Really getting yourself all worked up over this one, aren't ya, bud?
