    About comparison with cheap cables, I've got another video but, making it short. Cheap cables tend to be not so clear note by note and tend to lose hi-end, punch and loudness. The cheaper ones have other issues: microphonics, high floor noise, etc.
    I did the test to demonstrate to myself the contrary (that they aren't different) but, the surprise was that every cable sounds different!.
    At high quality levels, everything is a matter of taste. Under certain levels, you need to get rid of noise.

    I am glad I was of help. Thanks for your feedback.
    As I said, the Mogami 2524 is second to none and reasonablely priced.

    I got the Mogami 2524 today, very pleased with it, my old cheap lead is actually quite good for a cheap one but you realise its noisy once you get a good cable. Thanks.

    Hey man, I dunno which cable is the best, but I just really enjoy your vids. I first found you while shopping for my SD Ant2s and since that day I am still watching stuff that you upload. One minor complaint: your mic got too much treb (like it's somewhere in the room not in front of the speaker). Other than that: keep rocking, bro! =)

  • @hermeticoguitar
    @hermeticoguitar  11 лет назад

    Sure, isn't in front of the speaker. I am recording directly with a Zoom Q3HD cheap device but, at least, the sound is better than with my handcam.
    Also, transforming 24 bits audio to 16 bits leads to lost of important details. That is later translated to MP3 with corresponding degradation and processed by RUclips.
    So, it's a miracle that can be just 80% of the original live sound.
    Thanks anyway for your feedback, it's very appreciated.

    I've discovered something about my Mogami 2524 cables, and I'm quite shocked actually. I'm actually picking up an AM Radio station, and it is quite loud and clear. I replaced them with a cheap Monster cable on one end of my pedal, and a coily cable from guitar to pedal. The pedal is a Fulltone Ultimate Octave. I've read complaints about this pedal picking up stations when the Octave is engaged, so I wrote it off as a pedal issue until today. How is it that a cheap cable with a coily cable can be quiter than the famous and much reveled Mogami Gold?

    • @hermeticoguitar
      @hermeticoguitar  9 лет назад +1

      I guess you made your cables yourself. If so, a bad soldering (dimmed, with massive solder, ...) can be prone to RF, among other noises. Also, quality of jack plugs used can be part of the issue.
      I dunno. I had absolutely no issues with these cables and, I had them connecting the whole rig.

    great demo friend
    I would have questions. 2524 for guitar-pedalboard, pedalboard-amp.
    For patch cables pedalboard and XLR mic guitar recording, which Mogami cables?
    What diference between Platinum and 2524? thanks

    • @hermeticoguitar
      @hermeticoguitar  9 лет назад

      thanks for your kind words.
      I used 2524 for everything, with good success.
      I didn't test Platinum model. In fact, 2524 was delivering a great signal, being reasonablely affordable so, it made it for me.
      But, to be honest, I´m currently using Evidence Audio cables everywhere, after Tony Farinella explained me that all his cables are warranted FOR LIFE. So, buy once, enjoy the whole life.

    I know what you mean. I was in your position 1 year ago. :).
    But, once you try one, no regret. I think, this price point is what Mogami 2524 is. FYI, Mogami is one of the most used cable in Studio (mainly for studio gear) so, they aren't bad (I think they are really good) and, they flexible and thin enough to even patch your pedal board, something you cannot do with other high end cables. Just my 2 cts.

    You're right; I could hear your fingers moving across the strings more clearly with the Lyric II, but I could sort of feel that you were having more fun with the Mogami and that came through in the music. The Mogami seemed to have greater 'rock appeal'. That's all that really matters; not just the individual components, but the musical synergy.
    I wonder how Mogami Gold XLRs with Evidence speaker cables would sound in my home theater. Hmm...

    When he switches from the Mogami to EA Lyric it is obvious i.e. more note definition in chords and clarity.
    With my high end and passive New York Bass Works 6-string contrabass guitars ( NYBW 35.5" scale BEADGC) the results are similar - I use both brands but three words that define EA's win are: balance, definition, clarity.

    I fully agree with your analisis.
    I would use the Lyric II BUT, it's very uncomfortable hunging from my guitar BUT, I choose it for floor resting cables all the way.
    The Mogami is good for everything and has the better price/quality relationship, IMHO.

      Tony (the owner) is insanely helpful and nice. You can call the phone number on the packaging and you will literally get the owner of the company.

    The mogami sounds brighter, but so are low bitrate mp3's, so does that mean the mogami is lacking in the lows and mids maybe, its hard to know how it compares to a standard cheap cable but its still a good test thanks man.

    I just watched a video where someone compared an Evidence Audio Lyric HG (best one they do) and a Monster Performer 500 and the difference was stunning, dave gilmour uses the Evidence Audio Lyric HG, but its twice as expensive as the mogami, damn decisions lol

    I like Evidence cable - but I use it from pedal board to amp which I believe is its best application.
    Otherwise guitar to amp or guitar to pedal board it is Mogami 2524 all the way.

  • @alexdeleon7135

    The Mogami 2524 has been the standard for decades. In order for this comparison to be on equal footing, Mogami's 3302, or 3368 should have been chosen. You would have found greater frequency range- surpassing the EA cable(s).

    I think it's a very good thing to have those on the floor, if you don't have to move them. Hunging from a guitar they are a complete mess.

    I guess what im trying to do is find out the price point where things only get a little better, so far it seems that £40 is the starting price of a "proper" guitar cable so thats a bit of a shock when youve used £5 cables for 32 years lol

    The Forte is a very, very bad cable. I did have these. They where very bad soldered, all wires did not cut good off, the ground wires where very long and toughes everything, I have never see so a mesh like this, and thenknowing that this is the most expensive wire there is. All hihgs and tophighs where not there. It was the cable with the less highs in it from all cables I have and ever had hered. I did Tony a mail and send them pictures and he says that this i now good and to send him back. I did get another one (also anther Lyric HG because the soldering was with this cable even a completly mesh but have the very much tophighs) and it was the also the Lyric HG was the same and also the sounds. I did them send back to BaxShop because Tony say this and I never did get new ones. Tony did for one year every time promise me that I get new ones about a month a month and then some weeks and so, and I did never get new ones. After a year Bax did not do any sells from Evidence anymore. I think because Tony is a very unpure Selfish man and only thinks in money and have a big mask on and two tongues where he is talking with. It is a veru untrustfull man. I think also that he is unfair and lies a very, very big lie that he Forte is almost exactly the sound of the Lyric HG. Because this is very, very, very untruth. A very big Lie. The Forte is missing very very much highs and tophighs. Every cheapest cable has more highs. The Lyric is a very good sound and this one have quit highs indeed. I think this is the reason that Tony do not want to send me a new Forte to me, and lying to me, because he sees that I here and see ervything and that he falls through the basket. He is very unfair about this. And then is it also that I did pay for the Forte and Lyric HG with discount by Baxshop. And Tony can only send me the cables with the most high prices to me. Hes says this one time that I can buy these cables with him for these prices. And he says I cannot buy any cable from him. And answer anything anymore. CMS-Music does exactly the same. Tony has first als said that I can buyr the cables there. This is his partner in de EU. But CMS-Music do not give any answer anymore. It is all very, very strange, very Selfish (Tony said this also about himself to me that this is very selfish from him and that he is a very, very bad and unfair man(in it)). This is te website from CMS-Music cms-music.net/ His very unfair and unHuman partner and who not answer mails when i said I want to buy the Forte and the Lyric HG with them. So the Forte is a very, very bad cable and totally not what they promte with. It is a TOTALLY other cable and sound then the Lyric HG and missing all highs a electric guitar need. I never hered so less high in a cable as the Forte. The Lyric HG indeed has a lot of highs and this sound is very good. Tony is a liar. And a very bad and unfair man who do not hold his promises.

    My personal feeling is that the Lyric II and Vovox are too much hi-fi, with lots of high end, while the Mogami is equally detailed note by note but, with an even EQ. Anyway, the Lyric II is a mess hunging from your guitar, as the Vovox is so, the Mogami is a good all around solution for everything, from guitar cables to pedalboard patch cables.

  • @tronic307
    @tronic307 11 лет назад

    The Mogami had better bass and dynamics, the Lyric II had the best string harmonics, but the Forte sounded a bit stiff and congested like a police radio. I pick the Lyric II because it sounds more 'alive'; the Mogami has a 'sound'. It's a fun sound, though.

    I have all of these cables, the thing you want be able to hear in a RUclips clip is how quiet the Evidence cables are, tighter bass and details and dynamics,, depending on your rig they can be the best cables out for transparency, but you have to know you amp and guitar and how to dial in whatever cable you use, all of these are recommended as far as I’m concerned, but if you want the most transparent, buy Evidence audio

    MOGAMI is longer, cannot compare with the shorter evidence cables

    • @hermeticoguitar
      @hermeticoguitar  9 лет назад

      In any case, the Mogami should loose the comparative, right?. More lenght, more capacitance, less highs. But, it isn't a big lenght difference to have a dramatic effect.
