This video showcases the potential sound differences between several guitar cable manufacturers. Thanks for watching! - Видеоклипы
1:21 Planet Waves
1:37 Mogami
1:53 Lava
2:09 Monster
2:25 Kirin Cable
2:39 Planet Waves
If you want the right test, you must do this with cables of the same size. Because length affects the sound with its resistance. A short cable of the same brand sounds more clearly when a long cable makes the sound less common.
Then make your own cable video.
@@tortillaman2491 Gio is correct. Cable length can impact the sound quality. Having all the cable the same length would have been better.
@@tortillaman2491why are you butthurt because he tells the truth? It's not your video
@@realtruenorth All I'm saying is that Rose should have left the big blue diamond to the granddaughter instead of throwing it in the ocean. That was a big waste of money. That's all I'm saying.
@@tortillaman2491 while your at it, can you tell the democrats that drilling a hole at the bottom of the titanic will not make things better?
From Leo: The big difference is always the cheap junky cables vs the quality cables. I can measure differences with my Oscilloscope and a signal generator. The differences between the junk cables and the good cables is pretty drastic. The difference between the quality cables of equal length gets pretty small. If you already have a $40 cable, an $80 cable will not make you sound better on stage.
Ive had a 20 ft Monster rock cable for 20 years and still hasnt failed or lost quality
Thanks a lot for this, I loved planet waves, awesome.
No problem, man! Thanks for watching
I just bought Sommer Cable The Spirit XXL ,its a cable with great tone and very durable. With Neutrik jacks works great.
I can only ear differences in picking : sometimes a bit near to the neck, sometimes near the bridge...
The only way to hear differences between cables (or not) would have been a reamping from a record.
I was going to write it
Too variations to make a real conclusive decision 🧐
Mogami and Kirlin sounded better to me
Great video. I’ve been playing with top of the line guitars and amps, but playing with cheap cables. I’m buying Mogami now. Can’t believe it took me this long.
How is it? Which Mogami?
makes all the difference in the world for sure
@@treishtrei it’s great man. I got the 20ft right angle cable.
@@RandomTstudios Dude. I just made this ruclips.net/video/Mp-T-wHb0vw/видео.html . Check it out.
@@RandomTstudios And this about Mogami speaker cable compared to BOSS ruclips.net/video/xV88yYsFweM/видео.html
I’m tossing up between getting an AMS cable that is metre long or a 0.3 metre fender cable. Do I go quality and shortness or maybe not so good quality and length?
The Kirklin sounds like it has a blanket over the amp in the first couple of sounds. I guess it depends what frequencies you need and don't want from your particular guitar. By the time you shape your tone with effects and EQ etc it probably doesn't matter much.
If you are listening through flat response monitors the clear winner is the Lava cable closely followed by the Mogami cable (which I have used for years) I have a Lava 15LCUFR coming because I purchased a Friedman 4x12 from Sweetwater and my inside sales guy was willing to throw in a really nice cable, I have stacks of Mogami so if it really does sound as clear as it does on this video then I'm facing a huge rewire bill that I'm not really excited about. I can see the capacitance is quite a bit lower than the Mogami Gold series. To be fair the Lava cable is 112.95 vs a 15ft Mogami coming in @ 59.99-69.99 so yeah there is that. Will repost after I've done a side by side comparison. As for Monster cable, I hate them because they EQ your sound. The Planet waves cables are high quality cables, both monster and Planet waves just don't reach the clarity or low capacitance of Mogami or Lava. In closing, I've had to switch out quite a few Mogami cables over the years, I hope this is not the case with Lava. If anyone has any thoughts they would like to contribute concerning Mogami and Lava I would like to hear from you..
Do it closing your eyes, without spoiling yourselves and you will doubt everything
The Mogami wins
Mogami makes a great cable. It's worth the money, for sure.
You should try klotz ruclips.net/video/E6uv6Bl38aA/видео.html
They all sound great! I use "Live Wire" cables
It's more about construction and durability like you said. How well the connections are soldered and gauge thickness and makeup of the wire used.
The Mogomi to my ears sounds the Best
I'm not convinced cable cost makes any appreciable difference to sound quality, but it does definitely make a HUGE difference to noise level. Especially with loads of distortion, your grandmother could hear the difference.
I set my fender bass p up I put gable in it made a buzzing noise , it’s a new guitar and a new fender rumble amp 500 could you help please cheers Greg
Do you know about bespeco cable ?? How abou that cable ?? Please explain to me if you want and you know
I solder my own cables and have for years. They are all 10' with Neutrik NP2RX-B on one end and Neutrik NP2X-B on the other. I mostly use Canare GS-4 and sometimes Mogami. I like the Canare because of its 4mm diameter. I almost always play seated (Big Band and 7 piece jazz band etc.) The 4mm diameter is not a problem because the signal is MILLI VOLTS. Even with a 4mm cable it's like driving a tricycle through the Holland Tunnel.
Mogami is great. I've used more of the Livewire Elite as it is a less expensive high quality cable that is clear full frequency. I have found Monster Cable to actually work against me as as is gives you more power and edge and less dynamics in my rig. But if all you do is high gain it's great too.
did you know that Guitar Center owns Livewire? i didn't know that till i worked there
a guitarist from my band sent me this video saying he could hear differences. i listened with eyes closed on monitors and honestly... nothing. no difference whatsoever. so those of you who can hear the differences, may i ask you to tell me which frequencies i should listen for? i'm genuinely interested.
by the way, i'd also be interested in a null test. record the guitar's di through let's say the most expensive cable, then start reamping using each one at a time. once recorded, combine all of them into pairs, flip the phase and let's "see" the differences.
Make some video testing cables with overdrive please.
Cable length matters more than brand. It’s been scientifically proven that the signal isn’t even close to saturating the wire inside. Length and signal noise and durability is different amongst cables but sound quality is not when length is the same. Period.
@KC I believe you meant to say impedance. Capacitance is the ability of a component (capacitor) to store an electric charge.
Maybe we're being psyched into spending more. However I did hear more punch during the one Mogami take maybe. Plus I would never doubt Japan, they make quality stuff.
You can buy Mogami cable in bulk and attach your own connectors with a little soldering. That way, you can customize the length and choose such things as a “silent” connector (e.g., from Neutrik) on one end and you will save a bit of money versus buying a pre-assembled cable. You know that annoying sound you get when the amp is on and you are about to insert the free end of the cable into your guitar/bass output jack? The silent connector eliminates that.
I'm just here checking up on mogami's legitimacy. Seems legit to me. I hope this video isn't sponsored lol.
What model of mogami?
5:14 more cowbell!!
jandcR 😂😂😂
There will always be people who say Mogami isn’t worth it but a very quick test for you to find out that they are, is to plug a Mogami into your left monitor and another cable into your right. I tried this with 3 different brands and was pretty surprised at how much louder the Mogami side of the monitors were. Also, if using powered monitors, make sure it’s trs cables and not guitar cables.
I like Mogami, I think any quality cable is better than a cheap cable.
The only one that sounds different is the Planet Waves, but that's because you can see that the mic position is different on that one.
I think Mogami and Monster sounded best. But the test (or comparison) should be done with equal length cables to minimize margin of error.
Then make your own cable video.
The mogami sounds good but, the kirlin sounds amazing.
Yeah I thought the Kirlin too
Mogami and Kirllin are the fullest and brightest which is what you want. It's easy to adjust down with tone knobs...but it's hard to adjust a poor chord up or bright
I use Asterope and George L's and I love the sound I'm getting, but the warranty on both brands suck.
The Mogami is clearest, for sure. Whether that factors into the sound you want is another matter. I like the softer attenuated sounds personally.
mogami wins. more clarity on the tone. second is lava. but im surprise with the kirlin cable. i own one cos it costs less. but in terms of sound, the difference between kirlin and those high end cables is really not that much. i actually like the clarity of tone with kirlin cable. but i guess the downside is it tends to hiss a bit.
if u still remember about kirlin cable, what u can say about irs durability? I'm looking for some cables that would live more then 1 week, but me living in a country with narrow musical market...
Good cables make a difference for sure. The most difference I have heard was on recording beats off of a sequencer. The monster sounded a lot louder and clearer. Not all of the planet waves are the same. The 20ft is better sounding than shorter ones to me on guitar.
Thats probably because the 20ft cable has more capacitance than the shorter cable and causes your tone to lose some high frequencies.
Mogami and Monster sounded strongest to me. I wish they were next to each other in the edit.
Mogami is best overall, but Kirlin seems a bit more detailed.
This is a pretty good comparision. Seems like Kirlin sounds a little bigger.
This kind of videos will reach mayor clarence if they were a Blind Test. Don't put names of each one of the products, just sound till the end. Finally everyone got a more difficult but diverse sense of quality. The style of music and the amps I think it will be the same in all examples.
It was easy for me to navigate the difference in sound. If the video was filmed for the consumer and was honest, then the presented material allowed me to make my choice. I clearly know what I have given up, and what I will not lose.
Mogami. Has clarity and extended range response but not harsh in the upper registers.
Where is the Lava Ultramafic
It kills every cable on the same price
Why you change de riff for the planet??
The Mogami has the most clarity and best tone out of all of them!
Mogami has boosted mid range on these tests, but is lack of bass.
What better song to demonstrate with than one by John Mayer
I love that guy. I saw him twice in concert.. unbelievable. Thanks for watching!
I think the monster sounded better with articulate and defined notes
They sound close enough to the point that in the mix you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.....
Can not agree more
Quality of gear should come long after you develop the talent to blaze past the modern garbage music since rock was invented. XD if you cant play some classical shit it's you sucks the most in the music chain. Unless u got a 90$ guitar. Then the guitar sucks too
Mogami or Free the tone is a winner. And yes in the event a Mogami should not function just go to GC and they'll give you a brand new one.
They used to do this with monster but effectively ended it and much of the warranty you paid for
Mogami then monster
I felt sometimes the Lava had more transparency and detail than the others.
I may sound stupid. But to me the monster and the mogami have the clearer high end. The lava has a more warm or leveled out tone. And the kirlin does this thing were notes that aren't being articulated doesn't come through compared to the others? Idk maybe it's all in my head. Monster and Lava sounded the best to me
mogami monster kirlin planet
4:25 4:49 5:02 4:13
5:28 6:00 = 6:15 5:15
Mogami and Lava sound identical to me: excellent.
I don't hear a difference. I've had problems with Monster. A mic cable was giving me popping sounds. I sent it to Monster and they sent me a replacement. I had a Monster instrument cable that would static-out when you moved it around. Now I just strictly use Mogami.
I endorse Schertler, so I’m slightly biased. Good video review though! 😎
I’m like the Kirlin overall. 🎶
Your what alvays used?
Mogami cables are my preference. Thanks for watching!
The Mogami is louder than the Monster, but i think the Monster sounds better, the others are behind them
I think it is up to you to give us the verdict. Over this media, it all sounds the same - like most people here have told you!
“Most people” is an exaggeration. There are numerous people in the comment section who chose Mogami as the better cable, with a few other choices mixed in. In my experience, Mogami is the best cable available within a reasonable price range. Sure, it can be pricey compared to other cables, but you definitely get what you pay for.
The difference in sound is so minimal, but the price difference is quite considerable. When playing live those minimal differences in sound kinda go away in the mix.I have been using kirlin cables for about 2 years now the quality’s superb, they sound very good to me, and the you can get six for the price of one mogami.
would have been better if you had added no playing sound just to hear noise from each of cable
i love mogami is very solid sound, lava is more smoother in high frecuency's kirlin cable boost low end and mid sounds weird , planet waves i feel lost some signal but got extremely good magnetic shield
i got all cables
Lava cable like alder wood .. awesome
they all sound the same to me.
kirlin sounds best to me
Dude Kirkland surprised me at the very end a lot of mid range
I bought a lava cable from their website in 2016. It took me 6 months of emailing without a response until they said they're sending it that day. They sent me the wrong length. I had to sit on my amp in order to use that cable. Guess the marginal sound difference is overshadowed my the horrible customer service, or lack thereof.
Mogami > Monster >the rest is just average
I like Lava and Kirlin, they sound warmer n more present to my ears
Lava makes a great cable. Kirlin is pretty good, but the cable is starting to go bad and I haven't had it very long :(
A weaker signal tends to soften the sound or tone. That's what your hearing not necessarily warmer just a less prominent frequency. Mogami is a much better instrument cable overall.
@@DanielRettberg It's depend how you care the cable, i have Lava, Index, Mogami, George L's. Eminence and Tonetime. The best is ToneTime and is very difficult to get in the market. Link: ruclips.net/video/VpBo-4t-ZOA/видео.html
I agree with this
Mogami
You can't make a fair comparison unless all are the same length and have the same gauge wire and plugs.
well farted on the cable etc...lol...buy them cheap thin cables and switchcrafts that break...Kirlin is a good cable..it's bigger and its better than a 20 dollar fender cable....that does sound a lottt better.
Mogami sounds best then Monster second best to my ears.
5:28
5:57
6:11
Mogami delivers more tone.
Mogami showing up every frequencies
Apu Tuang Yet its sounds electric
PICK up the pieces!
All sound diferent , we need a looper pedal to listen some diference !
and blind test
Mogami by a landslide
I have monster cables and lava cables
Muscle Man i like your name
I prefer Mogami
Mogami is the way to go.. Thanks for watching!
Monster is sharp
The Mogami sounds more articulate than the others.
i think i'll switch all my cables to mogami .... :)
Just build them your self... save your self a few million dollars.
Kirlin
The Mogami was much clearer and brighter to me.
Mogami makes a great cable. It's definitely worth the money, in my opinion.
MOGAMI
Mogami by far, then Monster, then I guess Kirlin and Lava, but those two were really close so they kinda tie for 3rd place for me sound wise. Planet Waves definitely had the weakest signal and wasn't as clean either.
No. Just get the most durable cable you can get.
The brain plays tricks on me this should be a blind test
Ie you see the name you think you hear quality
Yep we inherently listen with our eyes.
Good video, thanks!Kirlin has very clear sound.
Gold is a better conductor. It's always going to be the better choice.
This is actually not correct. Many other common metals are better conductors, but gold is so "soft" that it provides better connection at joints like plugs. Gold for the plugs, but not for cable. That's why the Mogami Gold cable has a copper core; copper is a better conductor than gold.
Gold is not a better conductor. It a great conductor. But there are other metals that are just as good if not better. Where gold shines, uh I mean excels, is that it’s non corrosive. Therefore will outperform in longevity. But I don’t think I’ll live as long as the gold on my cables.
el mogami cuesta 50 dolares wtf
to bad you didnt test a asterope it is better than all of these
Planet waves cable wins.
fake test?
