This comment is going to make so many people mad that said "it'll never work, you messed up" 😂😂 thanks for your comment proving what we did is just fine!
@@TheCrockers everything from my great grand daddy& great granny's and MaMaw& PaPaws days they told me things I paid close attention. Crazy stuff they implemented really did and does work. I'm so proud to pass on to the 4 th generation of young ones now. I got stung by a huge BUMBLEBEE in Ada at 3 and PaPaw slapped some of his Beechnut chewing tobacco on it ...boy did that help. Mom always slapped some baking soda paste on bee stings. 😅PaPaw witched for water with a stick for our well too, laugh if you want these folks also had ways of preserve of food that worked, today people waste food that's marked best by date. 😂
Oh boy... That's definitely not a sceptic system guys. It's all kinds of mess waiting to happen. I say this in the nicest way possible. So many corners have been cut here. All the best.
Don't do this, if you're watching for a tutorial. This probably works for a temporary system. But the biggest issue here is that there is no access point to maintain or pump the plastic septic "tank" when it gets full of sludge. Also you need two chambers for the tank. And you should have flow baffles (tees) at the inlet and outlet.
A little plumbing advice never set a T on it’s back. You will have the chance of the waist piling up in the T and the water running off from it , plugging it up 😢. I’ve cleaned out so many of DIY jobs like that, it’s not pretty. When it comes to your septic, your solids will run straight across the barrel and run into your leach line and prematurely plugging it up 😢. You need a T on the outlet side with a pipe hanging down from the top of the waist level. That is floating across the top. You need a small amount of water to help keep the line clear, like a sink. The shower is way to much for your setup / leach line. It should just run out on the ground somewhere as waist water. And as someone mentioned if you don’t want to be using waist water never run a water line with a sewer line. That’s why they have codes to keep you safe and happy 😊. I know I’m going to catch H*LL for this comment O Well 😏. PS: On heavy BBQ day’s your going to have to clean that barrel out more than you think 🤔😅.
He should have installed barrels in the upright position together. With a inlet and outlet tee in both barrels. The main line entering the barrel should always be on undisturbed earth with adequate fall, he installed his with over a foot of loose dirt so when they settles the pipe will settle with the dirt. Drainfield will not last long with solids flowing out of the barrel and clogging the perforated pipe. A backhoe would have been better so he could have atleast excavated a deep pit and filled it with gravel for drainfield. I agree , some things really need to be done by a professional and by code
yeah I was wondering how you clean it out. I don't think he designed that in. Usually there is some sort of clean out for the barrel so when solids build up and they will build up. Ive never seen one done horizontal either. Usually done vertical but oh well time will tell.

God is Mighty, Able to take revenge. 5 Nothing is hidden from God, on earth or in the heaven. 6 It is He who forms you in the wombs as He wills. There is no god except He, the Almighty, the Wise. 36 To every community We sent a messenger: “Worship God, and avoid idolatry.” Some of them God guided, while others deserved misguidance. So travel through the earth, and see what the fate of the deniers was. 253 These messengers: We gave some advantage over others. To some of them God spoke directly, and some He raised in rank. We gave Jesus son of Mary the clear miracles, and We strengthened him with the Holy Spirit. Had God willed, those who succeeded them would not have fought one another, after the clear signs had come to them; but they disputed; some of them believed, and some of them disbelieved. Had God willed, they would not have fought one another; but God does whatever He desires. 254 O you who believe! Spend from what We have given you, before a Day comes in which there is neither trading, nor friendship, nor intercession. The disbelievers are the wrongdoers. 255 God! There is no god except He, the Living, the Everlasting. Neither slumber overtakes Him, nor sleep. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His permission? He knows what is before them, and what is behind them; and they cannot grasp any of His knowledge, except as He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not burden Him. He is the Most High, the Great. 256 There shall be no compulsion in religion; the right way has become distinct from the wrong way. Whoever renounces evil and believes in God has grasped the most trustworthy handle; which does not break. God is Hearing and Knowing. 257 God is the Lord of those who believe; He brings them out of darkness and into light. As for those who disbelieve, their lords are the evil ones; they bring them out of light and into darkness-these are the inmates of the Fire, in which they will abide forever. 258 Have you not considered him who argued with Abraham about his Lord, because God had given him sovereignty? Abraham said, “My Lord is He who gives life and causes death.” He said, “I give life and cause death.” Abraham said, “God brings the sun from the East, so bring it from the West,” so the blasphemer was confounded. God does not guide the wrongdoing people. 259 Or like him who passed by a town collapsed on its foundations. He said, “How can God revive this after its demise?” Thereupon God caused him to die for a hundred years, and then resurrected him. He said, “For how long have you tarried?” He said, “I have tarried for a day, or part of a day.” He said, “No. You have tarried for a hundred years. Now look at your food and your drink-it has not spoiled-and look at your donkey. We will make you a wonder for mankind. And look at the bones, how We arrange them, and then clothe them with flesh.” So when it became clear to him, he said, “I know that God has power over all things.” 260 And when Abraham said, “My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead.” He said, “Have you not believed?” He said, “Yes, but to put my heart at ease.” He said, “Take four birds, and incline them to yourself, then place a part on each hill, then call to them; and they will come rushing to you. And know that God is Powerful and Wise.” 1 Kaf, Ha, Ya, Ayn, Saad. 2 A mention of the mercy of your Lord towards His servant Zechariah. 3 When he called on his Lord, a call in seclusion. 4 He said, “My Lord, my bones have become feeble, and my hair is aflame with gray, and never, Lord, have I been disappointed in my prayer to you. 5 “And I fear for my dependents after me, and my wife is barren. So grant me, from Yourself, an heir. 6 To inherit me, and inherit from the House of Jacob, and make him, my Lord, pleasing.” 7 “O Zechariah, We give you good news of a son, whose name is John, a name We have never given before.” 8 He said, “My Lord, how can I have a son, when my wife is barren, and I have become decrepit with old age?” 9 He said, “It will be so, your Lord says, ‘it is easy for me, and I created you before, when you were nothing.’” 10 He said, “My Lord, give me a sign.” He said, “Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights straight.” 11 And he came out to his people, from the sanctuary, and signaled to them to praise morning and evening. 12 “O John, hold on to the Scripture firmly,” and We gave him wisdom in his youth. 13 And tenderness from Us, and innocence. He was devout. 14 And kind to his parents; and he was not a disobedient tyrant. 15 And peace be upon him the day he was born, and the day he dies, and the Day he is raised alive. 16 And mention in the Scripture Mary, when she withdrew from her people to an eastern location. 17 She screened herself away from them, and We sent to her Our spirit, and He appeared to her as an immaculate human. 18 She said, “I take refuge from you in the Most Merciful, should you be righteous.” 19 He said, “I am only the messenger of your Lord, to give you the gift of a pure son.” 20 She said, “How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, and I was never unchaste?” 21 He said, “Thus said your Lord, `It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign for humanity, and a mercy from Us. It is a matter already decided.'“ 22 So she carried him, and secluded herself with him in a remote place. 23 The labor-pains came upon her, by the trunk of a palm-tree. She said, “I wish I had died before this, and been completely forgotten.” 24 Whereupon he called her from beneath her: “Do not worry; your Lord has placed a stream beneath you. 25 And shake the trunk of the palm-tree towards you, and it will drop ripe dates by you.” 26 “So eat, and drink, and be consoled. And if you see any human, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to the Most Gracious, so I will not speak to any human today.'“ 27 Then she came to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have done something terrible. 28 O sister of Aaron, your father was not an evil man, and your mother was not a whore.” 29 So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to an infant in the crib?” 30 He said, “I am the servant of God. He has given me the Scripture, and made me a prophet. 31 And has made me blessed wherever I may be; and has enjoined on me prayer and charity, so long as I live. 32 And kind to my mother, and He did not make me a disobedient rebel. 33 So Peace is upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the Day I get resurrected alive.” 34 That is Jesus son of Mary-the Word of truth about which they doubt. 35 It is not for God to have a child-glory be to Him. To have anything done, He says to it, “Be,” and it becomes. 36 “God is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path.” 37 But the various factions differed among themselves. So woe to those who disbelieve from the scene of a tremendous Day. 38 Listen to them and watch for them the Day they come to Us. But the wrongdoers today are completely lost. 39 And warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded. Yet they are heedless, and they do not believe. 40 It is We who will inherit the earth and everyone on it, and to Us they will be returned. 56 As for those who disbelieve, I will punish them with a severe punishment, in this world and the next, and they will have no helpers. 57 And as for those who believe and do good works, He will give them their rewards in full. God does not love the unjust.” 58 This is what We recite to you of the Verses and the Wise Reminder. 59 The likeness of Jesus in God’s sight is that of Adam: He created him from dust, then said to him, “Be,” and he was. 60 The truth is from your Lord, so do not be of those who doubt. 111 And say, “Praise be to God, who has not begotten a son, nor has He a partner in sovereignty, nor has He an ally out of weakness, and glorify Him constantly.” 85 Whoever seeks other than Islam as a religion, it will not be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers. Read The Quran “I am to you a clear warner.” “That you shall worship none but God. I fear for you the agony of a painful Day.”
I used a 500 gallon septic tank ,and 100ft of socked field line .did it myself . I have a well . Flush toilet . My offgrid cabin is completely modern . So blessed
I love how he says, "Everybody's doing it," then references Pinterest and a bunch of BS that don't equate to any kind of objective knowledgeable analysis of what he's proposing. Man, a 55 gallon drum is fine... for a grey water system!?! You got all that money to have a nice tractor that looks brand-new, whether you're leasing renting or owning it, and you can't spend a few hundred dollars and get a proper poly tank designed for this purpose?!? You're also talking about building a fence over it? Lmao! I hope you decide against having kids... if you're still sitting in a 55 gallon barrel, that kid'll f-ck it up before he's 5! If you get a half decent size tank, you can use it just like any other plumbing, but your effluent lines should be level and run perpendicular to your tanks discharge. You could have literally spent maybe 10% more, and 5% more time, and never had to worry about your septic tank, but mark my words that 55 gallon drums going to bite you in the as-s! At least get a used 275 to 330 gal water tank box that may have been used for food-grade oils or something. They're super cheap and can be sourced anywhere in the country. They practically give the things away! You probably could have actually gotten it cheaper than you paid for that water barrel! I hope people that are watching this have more common sense not to watch some wannabe tiktok star or some idiot on Pinterest to get their ideas on how to dispose of their biohazardous waste... a 55-gallon drum can get overloaded so easily and then just spew out pure raw sewage in clog up your effluent lines. Everybody that wants to spread hepatitis or any other potential protozoa/ parasites, do your septic system just like this! I appreciate that you are trying to show that it doesn't have to be fancy and costly to be done, but then you have this fancy new tractor and you're choosing to cut all the wrong corners... Is this really where you want to be when Jesus comes back? Teaching all the little Joe dirt's how to poison potentially their entire Community with biohazardous waste?!
I don't know if that's going to be enough. I meaning you mostly do your business outside it might. I've seen a family of 2 did three barrels sitting up right. Two side by side and then another about 15 foot away. Good luck either way. Rock on Crockers
This video should be renamed "How to never build a septic." That's not a septic it's an open pipe draining down the hill. The grass will grow great. Don't let the kids play out there.
The 55 gal barrel could work if it was just for the toilet. Definitely need corrugated tubing for the drain fields. Make sure you have an adequate drop for drainage from the house to the tank. Shower, sink and washing machine would be better on a separate line with the corrugated tubing buried straight across the back yard. Take the time to finish it completely now so you don't have to "get back to it"!
Don’t know where you get your information about filling A 55 gallon tank. A 250 is the smallest I have ever seen and the was for a summer cottage. There is no out let baffle on that drum so all your so called poop is going to flow right on thru. Which will work okay for a while until the gravel clogs up. You were probably better off just putting in a cesspool. Probably the worst septic I have ever seen installed. And I have see hundreds of home made septic systems. But know worries if you got the land, you can make other ones. Just turn the pipe and do it again.
I'm a professional installer and although there are definitely 2 flaws in this design I would be concerned about it will probably still work at least for a while. BUT the main problem is this will cost you at least $2,000 and probably closer to $3,000 - $4,000 and that's IF you can find the materials at a cheaper price. The point is there are MUCH better and cheaper ways to do a much better diy septic system.
@@mistieclaudia3248 I been doing this for 35 years and I used to tell people to never try a diy system but now that the costs are so high for a regular system I will help them. If you really want to do a diy septic system then you can forget anything on youtube. The only reason I on this video in the first place is because someone asked me what I think about this system. Ive watched probably 100 videos on here theyre all wrong. The only diy system Ive seen that is good you can find by searching on google for diy septic system don jensen. That is the only one I recommend if youre serious about the project.

When the professionals built my septic system, they did not fill in around the line or the tank with dirt first. They filled in around the pipe & septic tank with large gravel on the bottom first, & then covered in with about 4 feet of dirt on top of the gravel. The septic line was buried way deeper than yours is, so that the leechline will not stop up in the dirt, but will seep through the large gravel in the bottom of the line. I fear that you may have to dig deeper and place gravel in the bottom of the leechline so that the water will seep throughout the entire line very soon. You should have an open/close lid on the septic tank so that a septic truck can pump the waste out of the tank when it gets full, & believe me, that little tank will fill up fast. Things done in haste make waste. Better to take the time you need to have a leechline big enough, & properly installed, than to rush & cut corners & have to do it over again in a few weeks, hopefully not in snowy, cold, blizzard weather.. Nevertheless, I wish you good luck.😊
You should also cover the line with a few inches of dirt then a few inches of gravel then more dirt. Just in case you have to dig the line the gravel will let you know you are close
@@Adam-to9gp There are plenty of counties with few or no restrictions. Why wish legal problems for someone solving a problem on their own land? I see very little chance of this harming any neighbors.
Only a single 55 gallon drum as a tank? No way to pump it out? No cloth barrier around the rocks? Septic line almost at grade level? Damn I'm afraid this system would fail quickly.
I’m only about 5 minutes into this video and I can see a couple of problems with your plumbing. You should have put a “Y” on the 4” stack with a clean out on it. Two, you need a vent stack on your drain that usually goes up through the roof. This allows fresh air to get into the water to drain using gravity and will prevent water from backing up.
These are all strong arguments why doing it right once is so important even though they might not have a building code septic statewide controlled by state keep in mind they 24 hour hotline, holiness, complaints some environmentalist may turn you in
Talk about red neck ingenuity septic tank doesn't have baffling to keep solids from ending up in the area where just fluid supposedly to be Will work for little while before have real honey bucket issues
Hey good on you getting out there and doing this, but I will say I own a small 3 bedroom and live alone. I am currently getting my septic replaced and by code from environmental health I need a 1000 gal tank, 500 gal dosing tank, and 150ft of drain field all mounded due to the water table level. I am not sure that a 55 gal drum will be enough for this if I am needed 1500 gallons. I mean. Single flush is about a gallon of water and a shower will fill that up pretty quick. Maybe a recommendation would be to add at least a distribution box to a drain field. I will say though this is the first hit of your content that I have seen and don’t know your water usage, home size, or family size.
Jason and Danielle, back in the day that's how we made our septic sys when we lived in the country. Although, we didn't have Pex at the time, we still made the poop system work perfectly. We also put yeast down the drains to help with microbial action. You did an awesome job. Very exhausting work, but so rewarding. Lol. Great job. Jason, your video editing is excellent. Going to re-watch the video - it's that good. Love you guys. Sherry 🥰 🙏💞🚿💩👍🏡🐕🐖🐂🐐🐓🐥
Good job for getting that installed. It may help you for a few days however however the county you live in you must apply for a permit and have your ground perk tested and if it. Passes they will tell you how many feet of lateral line you have to install. Per family member's bedroom's bathroom et cetera. They will tell you the size of the tank metal or concrete 500 or 1000 gallon after installation of the septic tank system. It must be left open for the health department inspector to pass If he passes it which requires permits again then you can cover it u One final note it has to be so many feet. I don't know your county code laws from any blue water strea. Hope that helps your brother.
Loving the extra video work going into the intros and such, first class! Honestly, I would've went with a longer/larger leachfield, and a few 55 gallon barrels, it doesn't take long before nature takes its course. Oh, and it would behoove ya'll to use RV toilet paper, it breaks down much better for the poos...lol 😂😅 Love ya'll ❤️
Jason just a heads up. If your pvc and blue barrel are not under your first line, it will freeze up on you come winter. The same water barrels you have would have worked better for a septic tank. Just throwing you info. My comment was before the end of video lol
A 50 gallon barrel is not enough. I have either 500 or 1000, can't remember, and it's for the same size family. Also interested in how u will do the tiny house, as there isn't the same drop in elevation there. I'm team SDR, but need to do it right.
You will live in that house for many year, right? We'll be using this for a few months, then it get used from time to time. I think you forget that this isn't our house to live in forever
@@TheCrockers very good point. I still advocate for doing it right once, but for something rarely used, as long as the county health department doesn't come down on u... Makes sense. But, still wonder what the health department says... They probably won't like this, or hopefully turn a blind eye!
@@TheCrockers no harm meant! you do you! I would advise others not to follow is all I am saying. Clay soil that don't perk, holding tanks too small and inaccessible, dumps into a creek. One big dookie and half a dozen hot showers and that smell coming through your shower and sinks will be your first nightmare. Don't pollute the water table. Not sure the laws out there.. but for others looking to do the same, this would not fly in 90% of counties in the US. Should put an advisory up.
Good afternoon you guys hope you guys have a great day hi Danielle how are you ❤️😘😘 I think you're overdoing one heck of a job cuz we love you guys keep up the good
Little concerned about the slope of that pipe running to your septic. We try not to run our 6” septic pipes at more than 0.50%. Steeper than that and the water tends to run too fast and leaves the solids sitting in the pipe. Causing backups.
Jason you did a great job..most of us know and have been watching first this isnt your forever home its temporary, second the trolls just want to troll. Thirdly congratulations on what you guys have accomplished im sure its great to actually use the bathroom as it should be used..and a huge game changer for the two of you..very happy for you all..
My husband did a septic with a barrel and the pipe with the little holes in it for drainage for his sister, he told her to go easy on the paper, after a few months there was bits of paper coming to the top of the grass. He was upset with her since she thought he should pick up the paper.
What do you tell the building inspector when your neighbor complains you didn't get a permit or a professional design and makes you build a new system?
Love the video! I would ensure that that piping is at a four inch downward slope to ensure everything goes downhill into the septic tank. The pipe is not supposed to come back up or you will start to have back fill in the line. Leading your septic to fill your toilet, or worse, your shower and sink. Solution, ensure the septic runs downhill into the septic. I noticed there wasn’t a clean out cap as well. Clean out caps help with inspection, cleaning and troubleshooting. The clean out cap goes outside of the house. No rush, but whenever needed cut the PVC pipe outside the house, put a T, angle to the left or right, no specific angles necessary, running it straight up is fine as well, ensure you prime and glue everything, then place a sewage cap on the pipe, and throw some dirt around it, I believe you’re done at that point
Ok great concept, but I have a question, how are you going to service the 55 gallon drum when it's full? When that finally fills up within a year it will flow back and cause problems and I dealt with it a lot with 1000 gal.tanks. I worked on sewer systems here and we can't even legally do what you did lol. 1000 gallon tank minimum requirements here in Maine and new leach fields have to be soil tested and designed by a licensed designer. During the winter months the tank does need to be at least 12" deep and pipes are usually 18"-20". The heat that is generated from poo, toilet paper soaps and everything else decomposing and will keep it warm also fill up fast, especially with 2 ply tp. It will be interesting to see good luck and good job.
I agree. This is a good effort but should have been deeper, tank bigger( I have seen off grid builders use the food container inside the metal grid box, don't know what to call them, and they used 2-3 of those, also you need to make sure the downward grade is good. Hopefully this will work for a while.
When you’re homesteading, one thing you do the most is dig. You dig for a ton of different reasons. A tractor is essential for homesteading for sure. Get one with a backhoe, you’ll never regret it.
I’m no expert but I did do my own septic. I see so many problems with yours . I’m confident your leach field will be clogged very shortly . I’m also worried about the pitch of your pipe, in the video it looked like the backfill pushed the pipe down. Also the whole system should be deeper and Your barrel should be on end and a T to keep solids going down your leach field . I would have rented a mini excavator and done this job correctly, I’m just north of you and I can have a mini excavator delivered to my property for $300.00 a day and $45.00 delivery/pickup fee total price . For an extra $345.00 and perhaps some more gravel and a couple more barrels and a few more fittings I could have built you a system that would last 30 years or more. So for a few hundred more you could have had a lifetime system. But I don’t have Pinterest so maybe I’m all wrong about proper pitch and clean outs and Y’s and the other little details. Really shocked at all the comments that think this is a great system and great work .
You where doing well until you said back fill. If you back fill with just dirt your leach drain will block up in time to come . Put some Geo cloth over the top off your rocks before you back fill Trust me i just finished diging out a blocked leach just like yours.
How do you plan on servicing it because you will have to eventually service? It also I don't think 55 gallon drums is enough. You need at least 1000 gallons.
Well I'd hope you'd think that as a master plumber! Haha I'm a videographer, not a plumber. This will hardly ever get used in the future, so it doesn't matter to be completely honest
My concern is that the fresh water line is right next to the sewer line. I worked in construction for many years. Im hoping this set up is only temporary. There are plenty of issues that will come back to bite you in the behind. Many have been noted in the comments already. Please don’t take offense to these. They are legitimate and need to be listened to. If it was only for grey water than fine but sewer is a whole different bag of worms.
Jason, you're very creative. You can do anything. And Danielle, you too!. What an awesome job. Keep up the good work guys but don't work too hard. Love you guys. Love all your fur babies and love all your animals. You guys rock. Keep on rocking. Jason and Danielle. Can't wait to see some more videos! 📸❤️❤️🌹🌹✌️
Does your septic system legal by your county you are running sewage right out on the ground Gray water doesn't matter plus are you deep enough in the ground to keep it from freezing and I am sure you don't want to be out there in the winter trying to unthaw it plus how do you have it pumped out when it's full good luck 🤞
You still didn't explain, how it really works, the blue small barrel is carrying what and then, the black one does what. I still don't understand the concept of it I said you're going to make a big hole deep enough for the big black one to go in to contain everything, which😮 will be much better except for the little blue small one could you please explain it on your next video🤔
That would never pass inspection. I would have put the pipe deeper in the ground so you didn't have a hump there with the gravel and how are you supposed to clean out the barrel when it's full of sludge?
You need to stake that down or cement it down. A good heavy rain before it's got waste weight in it will cause it to float up and push through the ground.
Illegal in the state of Oklahoma. Sorry, I went thru all of this last year. If you have haters that turn you in the state will fine you or worse. I was turned in for using a composting toilet, deep in the woods. All septic must be permitted and installed by a Department of Environmental Quality permitted contractor. Alternative systems must be approved by the DEQ.
@@KenJ-61 Same where I am. No zoning, building permits or regulations from the county. But state law differs. Google Oklahoma septic DEQ. Have a nice day.
@@boltholeonabudget6526 you're correct about state law on septic systems in Oklahoma. Unrestricted land with no zoning restrictions still requires inspection by the state prior to covering the system. Septic system is a whole different ballgame then things like water wells etc
All depends on where your at ! But with that being said...I don't think he knows Totally what he's doing. My guess he'll be digging it back up before we know it ! 😮
I must be missing something but those pipes do not appear to be pitched very much for such a long run and how do you plan to empty the tank when it fills?
You may as well tear all that out. Your not deep enough, your “tank” is nowhere large enough. Your leach lines are how many feet from the creek? Does the soil even percolate water? That’s gonna stink! Not deep enough. Hope the county you live in doesn’t have building codes because you can be fined for that. EPA jump all over that for dumping raw sewage. Total FAILURE!
Fingers crossed this works but I install septic systems for rural residential homes. Septic systems in my area at least aren’t just something you can throw in the ground and run with. Percolation tests are really important in considering your depth and size of your drain field. Also. With your drain field side. One thing to note is if you do that style of leech field you must must must add filter fabric above the rock that covers the perc pipe. Otherwise over time soil will fall into the rock and cause the area to not leech water well and get backed up.

Ok 4th and final comment... Get it engineered. The county should have rules a septic engineer will design to for it to work properly. Without that, you are in for a lot od "crap".
@@JosEPh-zy3yr I had a tiny house for 6 or 7 years in the middle of nowhere in the midwest... and the county still cared about septic. And a little research will tell you that Oklahoma does in fact have rules for septic. You have to apply for a septic permit with DEQ.
One I can tell that you didn’t dig it deep enough. Two, the grade has to be a certain inch downgrade for every feet. And three, the leech field has to be longer. Just because people on Pinterest are doing it doesn’t mean it’s correct. We just did ours and my husband researched it and did it correctly with a real holding tank and everything.

Two 50 gallon drums with about 2 inches difference in the elevation of the incoming pipe and the in between pipe then 2” lower on the discharge pipe would make the system last longer it will keep most of the solids in the first tank untill they break down and will make your field lines last longer before they clog .
I can literally smell the primer and the glue with you under there...lol... been there, done that and getting ready to do it again when we are fully moved onto the 39 acres...

Jason. Good job! Put an air vent into the barrel. About 3 feet of 3”or 4” pvc pipe, pounting at the sky - with a pvc vent cap (netting - to keep bugs and critters out). Barrell needs to breath and vent swamp gas. It is a living thing. It’s also an access portal to add RidX monthly, which is needed to liquify all the solids in the Barrell. Probably one more “leg” on the lat lines wouldn’t hurt either. Keep water in that Barrell, or it will “float” on you. And all things liquid run downhill. All things “Gas” float uphill - which is part of the reason for a vent pipe. That should work! You might want to build a burm (dirt hill) - and lift that water tank. It will create water pressure for you inside the cabin. You are close to functioning water & septic!
That's how my grandpa did a long time ago it worked for about 40 years lol never knew untill we had to put in a new house

Your absolutely correct. That's a mess waiting to happen

26 “So eat, and drink, and be consoled. And if you see any human, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to the Most Gracious, so I will not speak to any human today.'“
27 Then she came to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have done something terrible.
28 O sister of Aaron, your father was not an evil man, and your mother was not a whore.”
29 So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to an infant in the crib?”
30 He said, “I am the servant of God. He has given me the Scripture, and made me a prophet.

It will work for a little bit but without a baffle on the outlet side, you’ll have sludge go straight thru the tank and into the leach line.
Agreed. This looks like a disaster. I’m sure once the county finds out about this he will be in some trouble.

Little concerned about the slope of that pipe running to your septic. We try not to run our 6” septic pipes at more than 0.50%. Steeper than that and the water tends to run too fast and leaves the solids sitting in the pipe. Causing backups.
In Georgia they won't hook up your electric until your septic system is inspected by the county.

In Georgia you have to follow all the building codes regulations.
HERE COMES D.E.Q. WITH THE TICKET BOOK AND COURT DATE.
That would be so illegal here .😂
Oh I’m happy for y’all on that septic system !! Yay !! SDR yard wow … it’s beautiful out there ! ❤️✌️
Never been able to install a septic sysrem without a county permit or inspection.
What are you going to do when the barrel is full? Did you vent all your plumbing to avoid slow draining? Just asking.
Yall forget that this won't be used much in a few months
@@TheCrockers great work Jason and Danielle. My favorite channel to watch. From o ratio canada❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂

I must have missed something.. what’s happening in a few months that it “won’t be used much?”
Also great job on well.. everything lol I love it all!
Amazing intro the animals are so dang cute. You guys are definitely putting in the work. Everything looks so good.
How do you plan on servicing it because you will have to eventually service? It also I don't think 55 gallon drums is enough. You need at least 1000 gallons.
As a master plumber, all I can say is... WTF, OVER?? 🤦🤦
Well I'd hope you'd think that as a master plumber! Haha I'm a videographer, not a plumber. This will hardly ever get used in the future, so it doesn't matter to be completely honest
@@TheCrockers fair enough
My concern is that the fresh water line is right next to the sewer line. I worked in construction for many years. Im hoping this set up is only temporary. There are plenty of issues that will come back to bite you in the behind. Many have been noted in the comments already. Please don’t take offense to these. They are legitimate and need to be listened to. If it was only for grey water than fine but sewer is a whole different bag of worms.
The fresh water line might be just to supply the toilet which wouldn't hurt anything.
@@KenJ-61 They have mentioned good old hot showers many times 😂😅.
If you are trying to say that having a water line run where the septic is run is going to cause sewage in the showers you are wrong.
@@KenJ-61 The term is called a cross connection. My bad 😞.
Baby steps living uour dream. Making things happen. Proud of you .
That's going to float out of the ground first 2" rain
Did you do a perk test
So how do you plan on emptying the 55gal barrel after it fills up
I knew the comments were gonna be rough lol. Great video
Congrats Everybody, so happy for you!
Where is the clean out? And how do you empty it?
thats my question
You still didn't explain, how it really works, the blue small barrel is carrying what and then, the black one does what. I still don't understand the concept of it
I said you're going to make a big hole deep enough for the big black one to go in to contain everything, which😮 will be much better except for the little blue small one could you please explain it on your next video🤔
Ever think of getting a backhoe attachment. You still have lots of uses for it. Great video Jason and Daniel
That would never pass inspection. I would have put the pipe deeper in the ground so you didn't have a hump there with the gravel and how are you supposed to clean out the barrel when it's full of sludge?
USTEDES LO HACEN TODO MUY BIEN ME ENCANTA TODO L8S TRABAJOS QUE USTEDES HACEN❤❤❤❤❤USA
a backhoe would have been nice
You need to stake that down or cement it down. A good heavy rain before it's got waste weight in it will cause it to float up and push through the ground.
Illegal in the state of Oklahoma. Sorry, I went thru all of this last year. If you have haters that turn you in the state will fine you or worse. I was turned in for using a composting toilet, deep in the woods. All septic must be permitted and installed by a Department of Environmental Quality permitted contractor. Alternative systems must be approved by the DEQ.
Where they are their is no permits needed or regulations.
@@Cotton_54 Thank you, Mark. It took me 18 months of letters and phone calls with the DEQ to get approval for my system.
All depends on where your at !
But with that being said...I don't think he knows Totally what he's doing.
My guess he'll be digging it back up before we know it ! 😮
That system will not last very long with a small drum and no t for the outlet side and 10’ of field line.
Game changer for sure!!! I am so happy for you!! Loved the intro...sooo good! 😘
Great job 👍 . But is it legal or will you one day have a knock on your door.
We're not worried at all
Fingers crossed this works but I install septic systems for rural residential homes.
Oklahoma allows you to do your own septic system however the state requires an inspection. Did this get done?
Heck yeah!! Ya'll are bringing it all in !! You guys have come so far and I know Ya'll are pumped about the septic, and water situation, perseverance that's what it takes!!! I'm excited to see what's next and that music and editing SLAMMED IT!! ❤❤❤anyyyyway Ya'll keep on keepin on ✌️ ❣️ ✨️
I have installed 3+K gravity systems for family homes and one for my 1200 sq ft lake cabin this is one that looks like a contender if the soil passes a purk test but hay evaporation is a large part of the formula.
You are fortunate - warm climate with no freezing potential... we have to go deeper in Northern Nevada... our lines would freeze at that depth.
Whoo hoo! Awesome job Jason & Ms D. Y'all Rock. Love seeing all the wonderful animals. Much💕 from NC!
@@JosEPh-zy3yr welcome!!!
This septic system would not pass inspection any where in America period. Best of luck.
I'm very happy for yall. What we did is perfect for what we need
@cathyscroggins1420 did you pick up your lack of personality from Pinterest? Just asking for a friend.
if the barrel plugs you can dig it up put in new barrel let old one dry up then burn it
Please stop with the clickbait video headlines. It's cheap. It only discourages me from watching because I don't need any more drama in my life.
Omg ❤❤❤❤ the beginning video
? 55 gallons wil fill up faster than you think, How are you pumping it out to empty it?
The county has entered the chat
Wow, I had no idea that could be done. I know you guys have to feel like you're living high now after going all this time roughing it. Congratulations on knocking another project out. Oh, I loved the start of the video. You're super talented, Jason
It can't really it's all unhealthy and just wrong.

@@55post is it fake because your are too lazy to do what they do?
@@55post yes you are lazy and delusional if you think he doesn't live their. In reality i think you know he lives their but you are a liar. By the way what are the names on your other RUclips accounts that you post under here and other channels that you troll?
Two 50 gallon drums with about 2 inches difference in the elevation of the incoming pipe and the in between pipe then 2” lower on the discharge pipe would make the system last longer it will keep most of the solids in the first tank untill they break down and will make your field lines last longer before they clog .
I can literally smell the primer and the glue with you under there...lol... been there, done that and getting ready to do it again when we are fully moved onto the 39 acres...
That’s insane bro a boot over the pants 😅😅😅😅
How are you going to clean it out when it is full of waste ?
From the camera, doesn't look like you have enough fall.
Where was your new ranch hand while you were doing all the work?! Haha sat there thinking about that the entire video. 🤣 You guys are killin it and making some serious headway before winter comes.
Good morning ☕ Jason and Danielle 🇺🇸
Jason.
If he flushes the toilet about 20 times that should put enough water in to keep from floating.
How do you clean out the septic tank ?
