Neighbor in W. Montana had ond of these for his trailer home. Gas pipe out of buried barrel produced fair bit of burnable gas too. One barrel for 1 man and occasional guests worked fine., just dont flush any tp!
@@SheepSociety the in and out pipes on mine are the same height about 4 " down the tank. then start sloping it gradually after the 2nd tank .The pipe is about 1ft deep at this point.
Very Nice and clean looking set-up. Although, I think maybe I would have extended that drain field (end drain pipe) a good 10ft at least. Also, isn't a vent pipe needed, else you're gonna start smelling stagnant black water and/or have a build-up of natural gasses.
I'll have to post an update video at some point, I've been tweaking it here and there, added a vent and I'm extending the drain a ways further to create a more dispersed drain field. It has been working well though, especially since I'm winging it 😅✌️❤️
Where do you get your water from also? I just bought five acres and I want to do something like you I will be putting a tiny house on their there will be no electricity or water on my spot so I have to learn where to get all this from
I saw in other comments that you don't flush TP down, so how do you process that? I feel the TP would be a bigger burden than the poop itself to have to deal with.
Im here for the ignorant comments. So much fun! Look up septic ATU. You can process larger amounts in smaller containers quicker and better net results. 😊
@@TheDruidsDen and going where? You need a drain field, so that pvc pipe should extend, underground, for at least 10 feet, with perforated holes along the way.
Seemed like a decent plan. You probably should have had A bottom less System that way the Barrels don't get filled as quickly....(ole school method Bottomless tank) But yes still have drain feels
Should be buried below the frost line, with at least 18" (here in Missouri) of soil covering it. Otherwise you'll have trouble with freezing and frost heave (floating barrels).
I heard you should put gravel in the bottom of the barrels so it helps break things down, and no toilet paper 🧻 what's your thoughts on putting gravel in the barrels
Yes, no toilet paper! I would think gravel would work great to keep the tanks down, but I have had no issues with the barrels rising due to the weight from the water/waste keeping them down. ✌️❤️
I think you are going to need some field lines with preparated pvc pipes going away from the last blue drum. I would have T-off a couple of lines with added ditches to add field line of washed pea gravel of at least 12-18 inches thick and at least 18” wide. The ditches if it was only a single one would be needed to be 50 feet long or two dual ditches at least 25 feet long. The more the T-s the shorter the field line ditch. Also before you cover up your perpetrated field pipes you could cover the top of your pipes with roofing felt paper to help keep the preparated holes in your pipes dirt cleared. I didn’t see where you filled up those blue drums with added water to keep them from floating out of their holes when it rains. You and your crews have done an excellent job right up to this point. Why not finish it correctly with added field lines?
I added a gravel filled trench leading into the open field next to my home, no issues at all with wet ground. In fact, I wish it was more wet on that side of the yard, it is the hardest area of my yard to keep grass growing because it's so dry. Also, not flushing toilet paper and using septic tank treatment with active bacteria has stopped any smell at all. Had a slight smell at the beginning, but nothing now, and the system is still going strong! But thanks for the concern 😁✌️❤️
Thanks for the helpful video! Do you have an idea of how long this will last before it needs to be pumped? I'm guessing this is a job for a septic truck, so it'll need to be in a place that is accessible?@@TheDruidsDen
If you're wondering whether or not the barrels float out of the hole from rainfall, I put weight on top while they fill in and become heavy themselves. This has been a very rainy month and so far so good. ✌️❤️
Septic systems comprised of barrels would not be permitted by any local government environmental health authority. All septic systems in the USA must meet NSF standards, even if the system is exempted due to acreage.
I’m not sure why on every septic system video, the top comments are always some ass telling people what you’re doing is illegal! It should be illegal to leave people homeless dumping their shit like animals! The governments uses people and leave them poor, so mind your own shit! Literally, and screw your laws and standards
that mrcool install looks atrocious. Whats worse is the DIY electrical you did, used plumbing fittings and pipe instead of conduit. can only imagine what the wiring looks like

Do you have to pump any of the sludge out? If so how long do you think it might take before you have to pump the solids out
Should of buried the pipes and tanks Also always add leach line and gravel at least 20-30 ft away for oder control.
what height on the leach line on last barrel?

No issues yet ✌❤

Where is yur leak field at?
It’s a “leech” field. It doesn’t appear he has one. That’s gonna be a problem.
@@grantmiller1568 Hmmm....but there is a pvc pipe coming out the 2nd barrel??🤔
You should put small holes in one of the tanks at the bottom I thought 🤔

Where's a soak away or drain field?
Will you put any chemicals in the tanks to prevent odor?
Nope, just septic tank active bacteria pouches flushed once a month
Does a system like this have a riser allowing the possibility of pumping or maintenance should it need it?
See those cuts top of barrel allows the tanks to be pumped. His tops are above ground. .One person male maybe every 15 years, has been my experience
Did the local health department do a final inspection on that? 😂
Where is your vent tube?

Nope!
Single ply or you get clogs/backups and no chemicals or you knock out the biological system for awhile.

I've made a couple of adjustments but so far so good
How are you going to pump them out? Will fill up in no time. Normally septic systems are 1K like mine and they have to be pumped out every few years.
It's accessible to be pumped, when the time comes maybe i'll post another video ✌❤
