@@jamesengland7461speaking of which, a Toyota engine with a little over 300 horses sounds like a very achievable figure and the drivetrain would be bulletproof 😂
Well, the ZF 8HP is arguably the best autobox on the planet, so it is a great choice. I am sure a different lever could have been chosen to go with the overall design of the car, but with a big engine in a light car, you would literally have to change gears every 2 seconds to keep up. So it is a great pairing.
I rented a Morgan Plus Four (2021 model) recently for my birthday and they're some of the most beautiful cars. Picked it up right from the factory in Malvern and took it along some nice English country roads and even drove it down to Wales. 🧐🎩 It was the same color presented here, white with the red wine interior. The only difference was that it was a 6 speed manual. The shifter has chrome up top and looks far better than the auto shifter that's used in every auto version as displayed here. I'm sure at this price point they can opt for the manual transmission
It needs to be a manual. If I had the money, what ever it took I would ditch the engine for something normally aspirated with a manual box. Perhaps the classic BMW 3.2 M straight 6 would be perfect.
How could you miss that the top of the grille is taken from the wheels? The back end reminds me of a Marcos. The gearbox selector is horrible in this context. The front has some references to Bugatti. But all in all very beautiful.
I wasnt concentrating when i looked at the thumbnail for this video, so I thought the back was the front and vice versa. In my opinion it looks really good with the back being the front.
I think they could've just painted the gear shifter the same colour as the dashboard so it matches the colour scheme of the interior at least, because its not a bad shaped shifter its just black and obvious
This really does look absolutely stunning. Excellent. Edit: I just wanted to say, I would kinda want to see bmw's own take on bringing back their own 30s or 40s speedster in a similar form to this. I think they have a wonderful design history to pull from too the 328 for example. A gorgeous thing to behold too with sporting pedigree to boot. I just think it would be fun to see. At least in the form of a concept car. The 507 kinda received that rejuvenation in the form of the Z3 and Z4 but still... Seeing the 507 brought up to date again...
The first few seconds I looked at the title screen, I thought it was something like Pagani. Then I realized that where I expected, the bow of the car turned out to be the stern.
Fabulous looking car, until it rains in the UK's glorious weather, and heaven help us in the depths of winter, but then i suspect those that can afford it wouldn't care about the cars practicalities.
Beyond lucky to have 1/50 Doing the spec for mine next week! What color advice would you give? At the moment I’m looking at a burgundy/cabernet colour for body, with light cream interior and burgundy stitching - with gloss wood like a classic wooden speedboat (Riva Aquaramas) Asking for an alternate shifter and slightly taller windshield if possible.
Morgan and McLaren are the last 2 true British car brands left. All the others are foreign owned now with limited control in their own direction. It's amazing to me that Morgan still uses the same tooling they bought 60+ years ago.
You are absolutely right, this beauty doesn’t deserve this ugly BMW gear shift, a proper manual one would put it as the perfect gentleman’s car. Greetings from Brazil.
Hello. Don't know if you've heard about the Pontiac coming back ad but if they were which 3-4 models do you think they would reintroduce and how would you imagine them (all featuring the iconic "firebird" emblems on hood and other areas).
White is not a good colour for this Morgan, it would be better in either British Racing Green, or Royal Navy Blue. Or Post Office Red, or maybe two tone Black over Silver finishes too. Though this Morgan model, should have a old fashion style wooden trimmed stainless steel steering, with a matching gearknob leaver too. Where are either the wing side mirrors, or door side mirrors, or even centre dashboard rear mirror too? Will this new Morgan model even have a folding soft top hood, or rear external spare wheel, plus stainless steel luggage rack as well? So it is a usable car all year round, it rains a lot in the United Kingdom, plus the UK weather is very changeable too. If Morgan are only building 50 of this new model, then maybe US $ 250,000 too US $ 300,000 asking price is asking reasonable. However, if Morgan reduce the price to £ 125,000 per car, then offered to build between 100 to 150 vehicles, maybe upto 200 if there is enough interest too. Then many more true Morgan fans and drivers, would more than likely buy this new Morgan model, plus they would enjoy driving it on daily or weekly basis, maybe doing 4,000 to 6,000 miles a year too. Than just the Super Rich Multi Millionaire car collectors, who snap up limited Super Car Production run vehicles as investments. Then keep them in private garages, locked away behind mansion gates and private estate walls, maybe only to take them out once or twice a year if that, just putting the odd few miles on them. When is a Morgan, not a Morgan, when it is locked up in a garage and not being driven. Morgans are cars to be driven after all, as well as loved and enjoyed, plus seen on summer afternoon country drive going by too. On roads like where Morgans are built in Malvern, Worcestershire in the UK, plus driven along the nearby Welsh Borders hillside roads. Or along French Swiss and Italian Alpine Mountain narrow climing and decending plus sharp cornering roads, with equally great views too! An old or new Morgan, is not a city street or motorway driving car, its a car for wide open country roads and lanes. Saying that, this is a lovely looking Morgan, hand built by British craftsmen and women, a credit to Morgan too!
Beautiful car. The gear selector is horrendous. They should've used the M Sport style gear selector that is much thinner and more bulbous shaped, rather than a tv remote
Agree it's great styling overall. My only criticism would be that the nose looks somehow too high up, startled and 'baby faced', sucking on an afterthought number-plate dummy. Cant help thinking if they moved across the number-plate to the front side fender -Alfa Romeo 159 style -the lower continuing grille would then be revealed behind, to look helpfully longer ..reducing the stuck up 'baby button nose' aesthetic that's not quite right presently. (Other option is to lower the number plate over/replacing the central lower air intake -although that's not ideal visually and it breaks the clean unbroken wide air intake as is). Possibly the Morgan Super three headlights with their horizontal mid bar would look 'sleeker' and less startled than these illuminated perimeter lights? Maybe with your talents, you might photoshop it? I like your video anyway!
It looks great and I'd love to own one. However... I'm not convinced about the wood atop the doors. I love wood in a Brit classic. But you can have too much of a good thing. The wood on the door is just ... awkward-looking. Although I don't want practicality to get in the way of looks... it needs a windshield and some sort of cover from the rain. Particularly in the UK where it's raining all the time.
Yes exclusive products rely on being special, as opposed to run of the mill off the shelf products) It’s the same with ladies diamond jewellery and couture. (If you make more the rich will not buy them). These cars will probably never be driven on the road…
I love a good retro-modern design and this car has that in spades. I like the sculptural quality of the body and fenders but some of the details are a bit too quirky for me. One is the doors that overlap the body with exposed hinges. I know they are addressing a classic era design but it just looks stuck on and not coachbuilt. The big chunky wood door tops- clearly Italian modern feel to it but it is too much of a visual distraction and I would want to hang my elbow out on occasion. The whole door upholstery looks very confused and amateur. And I do not know how you could register this in the US without a glass windshield and wipers. It won't fly with the DOT. I guess if you have your own island it's not an issue.
Absolutely stunning vehichle but too blend old design into new is not hard work , with the tech we have today its so much easier Morgan should up their game and not become complaincent .
Pininfarina è riuscito ad appesantire, irrigidire, contaminare la linea originale della morgan 4/4 della quale rimane soltanto il simulacro, la caricatura
Some of the body venting seems overwrought. The wooden hatchets that dominate the door are just too distracting. They seem like an afterthought, too far departed from the design language of the car.
Love this gorgeous auto. Having to wear goggles is a deal breaker for me though. I’m just not going to do that. Furthermore, I’d be surprised if the car will even pass U.S. safety regulations with no windshield.
At times design runs to seed and congeals on the altar of applied style .... Maybe only ask one question ..... which way would give the best drag factor .., forward or reverse ..? Come on you sons of Elgar put down your runciible spoons brimmed with suet pudding and give the engine a quick 180 drop in a transaxle and make the hills of Malvern rumble to a mid engined rear wheel drive ...
Don't these presenters talk absolute BS , I've owned 2 Morgans , the last a plus 8 that I had wanted since I was a apprentice , but I really did not enjoy it at all , still I had a little earner when I sold it , so I will stick with my Healey 3000 !!
The 40s speedsters will always have a spot in my heart.
Well done Morgan you have nearly reached the level of Triumph TR2 design!
Had a TR2 in 1971 registration number TRY 123. I hate to think what that would be worth now !
Yep ! getting there .
It’s so good looking, everything just matched, that line flow, the materials, the color… Very well orchestrated… But then we have that shifter *sigh
Beautiful design, but all that old-school vibe is absolutely ruined by the BMW automatic transmission and associated gear selector.
Right? Could they not get the Supra 6 speed manual?
@@jamesengland7461speaking of which, a Toyota engine with a little over 300 horses sounds like a very achievable figure and the drivetrain would be bulletproof 😂
Seriously...go all that way
Oh No!
It's not an automatic - is it?
Well, the ZF 8HP is arguably the best autobox on the planet, so it is a great choice.

If you squint real hard at the thumbnail, it looks like a weird Ferrari Enzo/FXX with the driving compartment moved forward.
Now I can't unsee it😭😭😭
modern supercar esthetics backwards, lol wow
I see it. But just curious, what are you on?
That's literally how I first glanced at it!

This car is both unique and familiar. Overall, a stunning design.
Thankfully it doesn’t have the cross-eyed look of the Morgan Aero 8.
Agreed
That was down to the Beetle headlights. So wrong.
If you turn the cockpit around facing the other way and then put a bubble over it, it would make a supercar.
Now I can't unsee that.
How could you miss that the top of the grille is taken from the wheels?

Agreed. Probably the most gorgeous vehicle I've ever seen.
Please! No need for exaggeration 😂
piece of art
Gorgeous. I can't wait for the hardtop version: the Morgan Hereditary.
Absolutely stunning looking Morgan. Who would have thought you’d ever hear me say that!
I wish they fitted a manual gear box that looks like the Paganis and also a bit of a wind shield
I love this car
It's a barchetta . They are designed to be permanent open top, very small windscreen. Like a boat
I think the 458 was by francesco coco in house designer and not pininnfarina
Noone does a better job at bringing vintage styling and some modern technology together to make a new car, than Morgan. 💛
You got that right 🍸
Going back to the 50s and 60s? My dude....going back to the 1920s...they been at it over 100 years with the roadsters
Exactly 😂
Why does this car look like a weird Pagani Utopia speedster in the Thumbnail ?
they are both kinda steampunky but also smoothed out and reduced
Exquisite little road riva 🤌
Pininfarina & Morgan very beautyful ❣️👌🏼
Well done 😅
Love from Berlin 🇩🇪
Ramsi 🙋🏻♂️
That is perfect just like that, I’ll like to see a hard top or soft top.
Looks very stylish. Like those Boat-Tails.
I love those sketches.

So beautiful. The one thing I'm not convinced of though, is the wood element above the doors.
These older vehicle designs have grown on me as I get older. Makes me want a Hurtan if I could import it into the US.
What a beauty. A future classic.
I think they could've just painted the gear shifter the same colour as the dashboard so it matches the colour scheme of the interior at least, because its not a bad shaped shifter its just black and obvious
Masterpiece of the year. If there was a coupé or a hardtop version of it as well I would do things for one
You could change the seats in the other direction and its still beautiful
This really does look absolutely stunning. Excellent.
