Great video, one comment on the 10 rep accessory work is to use a weight for 10 reps which you could maybe do 11 or 12 reps max and perform 5x10's with. No more than two minutes rest between sets. This also builds strength and aerobic endurance thus allowing increased weight over the 6 week cycle. But definitely not doing more than 15 reps, which means not enough resistance.
Great insight and video. I did the original 5/3/1 for a while and it was good to learn how to lift on it. It was convenient because a cycle did fit into a 7-day timeframe. It also avoided overuse while the assistance attained GPP and volume around weak links. Weighted calisthenics were good in here. I learned about when I was nearing overreach and the deloads were welcome after the 5/3/1 wave, especially after turning 35. I really liked how it removed ego from my loading scheme because of the use of conservative training maxes and metered intensity. When I need a cycle after hypertrophy, I'll come back to 5/3/1 about half the time. I've been able to spend about 20% of a calendar year on 5/3/1. Cardio can come back in during other cycles.
The assistance portion of this program has always been my biggest issue. It definitely comes from overthinking the exercise selection. I use this program with soccer training and regular 5k runs throughout the week which seems to help with aerobic fitness.
I've been doing wendler walrus training with the weight vest it's been working out good it's mostly gpp work not max strength fine for a 40 year old busy dad
I’ve seen several different versions of assistance. 1 is accessory complements the main, with the others doing one from single leg, push and pull. Which is it? It’s the only thing that really baffles me about this program.

@@ericgrizzard8848 who cares which it is. What matters is that if you follow the program, it works. It’s that simple.
its a good idea do olympic lift in 5/3/1 program? like cleans
You could, yes but you'll likely need to adjust the schemes
Not a fan doesn’t really work for me
And your last name is Wendler. Ironic.
