That is exactly my thought. This dude is smashing the power consumption, fan, gpu and cpu to the lowest possible settings, putting in a higher power draw ssd and then complaining about the laptop. This is entirely absurd imo.
Most fast nvme drives will become too hot in this laptop as they draw more power. That 's the issue. The drives that comes with these (some variations) draw little power and don't become too hot. Replacement/additional drives needs to draw as little power as possible. Hynix Gold P31 and Intel 660p & 670p are examples of relative low power drives that will work well in these laptops. There might be some issues with installing larger than 2tb drives in these as well, where some run into problems but others don't.
Just get g14 3060, it’s tuned perfectly and thermals overall better, upgraded ssd nvm and got 32gb version, 0 issues dude, everything run absolutely perfect with external monitor too 👍🏻. I’m almost 1 month with it, absolutely love it.
This problem is due to lack of enough pcie lanes on the ryzen APUs. I think if you put both gen4 nvme or both gen3 nvme this issue won't occur. I think the pcie lanes are shared between the two m.2 slots.
Hi, I did try a 2tb to boot, maybe I won the silicon lottery, but my adata 2tb, no blue screen on battery or plugged in. Been running it for awhile and no problem. I have recently added another 2tb in the 2nd slot. Still no problem. I do a lot of photography and need even more storage. Crucial ram upgraded too, also no problem
I have had an issue (g15 rtx 3060 model) with the IGPU auto setting and chrome, that would just freeze the laptop whilst pausing youtube or netflix. I have fixed it by putting either the IGPU mode to on, or off (not auto). Leaving this here in case it helps somebody else. However overall I think that the laptop is incredible value for money. I have ordered a new 2TB ssd and will let you know how it goes after I install it
@@fariznugrahaakbar3508 No issues so far with the original 1TB + Sabrent 2 TB. Had some issues with the same screw as TheDigitalDigest, had to take it to be drilled out due to becoming rounded so carefull with the second screw on the lower hand side from the left (same as third screw on the lower hand side from the guiding screw). Don't have a dimple or anything on the inside though
I'm coming to this after just resolving a massive issue with mine. I noticed a general slowing of the machine, higher temps, higher clock speeds for no reason, etc. Based on system interrupt errors, the internet said it was a driver issue. I ran every tool and uninstalled-reinstalled every possible driver, removed every external device, etc, still no solution. So I reinstalled Windows from scratch--the issue persisted! Then I decided to change my C drive from the stock 1TB to a Samsung 2TB, and it's like new again. Very strange.
So perhaps not a good idea to open mine up and install a big SSD? That's a shame. I wonder what's the biggest SSD upgrade it can handle without BSOD problems.
I found that all my offline storage was incompatible with windows 11, so I downgraded to Windows 10 LTSC and found myself without a working WIFI / ETHERNET driver... And I can't seem to download any ASUS drivers from another computer... Am I just using ASUS' website wrong or do they really only have the way to get their drivers from the Zephyrus Laptop that needs them??
I have this computer and the fans go max RPM on cold boot. if you let it warm up and then shut down and boot windows again (not restart) the fans will work normally again. very sad
I did. Specifically only with Doom Eternal. No physical device error. The problem was that the game would run on the integrated gpu. At first, I would have to disable and re-enable the integrated gpu, but that was simply unacceptable just to do that eventime I try to play the game.. fixed it now. I had updated the drivers and bios before the issue. What I did differently was I downloaded the AMD Adrenaline software via amd detect tool and soon enough, everything now is working just fine. Every game runs on the nvidia gpu.
@@greenleaph5145I had the same Doom Eternal issue as you. Oculus and SteamVR would also launch on the integrated gpu. I got the laptop Friday and it took me all weekend to figure out what was wrong. I still don't exactly know what it is but I disabled the AMD software from starting on boot (within msconfig). I then went into windows graphics settings and forced all my games/oculus software to run on the dedicated gpu. After that I also disabled the integrated gpu. Upon restarting I could see programs launching on my 3070 finally. I've had no issues all day and I was finally able to play my PCVR titles with no issues. Laptop is a beast guys !!! ❤️ 🇹🇹
@jesus gil hey everyone, new to gaming laptops. I've been having issues with this laptop and games like warzone, elder scroll and fifa. Do you guys recommend upgrading to Adrenalin 2020? I wasn't sure if that program was meant for this G15 laptop.
As far as I know although the first 16GB are in DC, that does not mean that the OS prioritizes that section of the RAM (after all it is random access and having more fragmentation logic would make no sense and decrease speeds). So whenever you mix your DC with some SC your overall average speed decreases, not only the speed of additional RAM.
Excellent content, as of recent im experiencing the same problem as far as blue screen of death after i cloned to another 1tb sabrent nvme thats a little faster on my Aero 15 3070 when i have it on battery only it does it, when its plugged in it works like a champ, so ive been thinking of going back to the original drive which im 100 percent certain it will fix the problem. I have a 1tb samsung drive as secondary drive and the 1tb Sabrent as primary so you have a reference of what im working with. I also believe something might have gotten corrupted in the cloning process for this to happen, I would also point out that a clean install of windows onto your 4TB sabrent drive might also fix the problem as well but i would only do that as last resort.
Loved your vid. I too have a AZG15, and now into my 2nd year with it, and have had no issues whatsoever with it. The best laptop I've ever owned. Talking personally, if i'd gone through the same process as you, i wouldn't be too quick to put the fault on the laptop. I too would probably conclude it was a power draw issue, but would question first the power demands of the SSD, and consider trying other reputable brands. I've added a Crucial 2TB SSD to my laptop with no issues at all.
I would never render on battery pack. The voltage drops, other sensors and software react when on battery power - a lot of laptops do the same thing. Video is designed for full power - being plugged in.
Not sure if it helps but for others our there I added an extra 1TB SSD to my g15 and having no issues / I don’t need 8TB though but would just use some externals if I do. Their websites says up to 2TB SSD
How did you determine that the 8GB soldered to the board was Micron/Crucial memory? "wmic memorychip list full" in my GA503QR shows soldered and stick are both Samsung, which makes more sense than Asus shipping mismatched memory.
Hey Ed, seems silly - but did you check the power plan settings for the disks? I use a Rocket 2TB as my main drive (almost never use the drive that comes in the machine) and I had to make some minor adjustments in the power plan settings on some machines. Cheers!
@@Aligatorxx3 it appeared to solve similar issues to what Ed is reporting. We ended up returning the g15 for the speakers and it randomly waking up and playing sounds at night while closed. It was very odd.
another problem for those with tinitus or sensitive hearing, the fans on these makes a high pitched 6000mhz+ sound when they rev up past 2000rpm. I wished reviewers talked about the fan sound profile outside just sticking a decibel reader on it. Like I know thin and lights are going to be loud lol
I had the choice of getting this machine for 1600$ as an open box ( listed as excellent condition) but i'm truly glad i didn't. My number one priority is stability (i'm a college student i need a stable laptop). Heck i might even go intel just because of stability issues with amd. Anyway thank you for all these helpful videos!
I have this laptop now that I’m contemplating returning tomorrow. Had a game crash due to “insufficient memory” when I was well beyond and the frame rate in general is choppy and inconsistent. It’s a nice machine but it’s kind of pushing it’s limits. I have another laptop with an RTX 2060 max P and performance is more consistent.
So frustrating, in my 3080 version I can still hear some "scratches" in the audio (both with headset and internal speakers). Can't figure out what's the cause..
Have you mentioned in a future video your update on potential performance increase after upgrading the ram? I am considering doing it but I was just curious and couldn't find that video. Thanks.
Since purchasing this 21 version, the area around the power button was very hot during gaming sessions, even though the temps were within expectations. Last night I pulled the heatsink assembly and laughed... Most of the liquid metal intended for the cpu was against the barrier, leaving the cpu to bake. Cleaned and installed PK-3. Reported temps are about the same, but the exterior surface of the laptop is now only warm and fans aren't pushing as hard. Also the bios may make drives over 2tb unstable. I run the 2tb Crucial p5. 32gb GSkill sodimm for all the memories Removed the metal shims from the back cover and used strips of 400 grit ceramic sandpaper to clear flashing from the bottom vents
I got this machine, my 2 cents: - Clean install windows, - Spent like 30GB to dualboot with linux, just to compare ur experience with what happened to ur hard drives (I do this, so I am sure if both OS failed means something went erong with my drives). Also in linux you have lots of options to debug what happened wrong with ur drives. My only problems with this machine so far is I need to install a custom linux kernel to get my keyboard backlight control work properly, other than that, all almost perfect. I even play shadow of the tomb raider in linux and results in significant performance increase (i hv no idea why, the fans are quiter in linux) and I can reach 128fps in average for full ultra graphics setting, despite it runs in with proton.
Yea. I don't see what's the big deal here. I have a 2tb WD in there. No issues at all. Not many people out there spending $400 and $800 on ssd. Lol. Could simply be incompatibility with this particular brand of ssd. Laptop is a great machine.
How is the space bar on this thing??? If you press the edges of the button does it register? I have same G15 laptop. Mine doesnt register when pressed on the corner. Just like to know if Im the only one. Thanks
@@TheDigitalDigest thanks. Looks like my unit is bit defective then. Only had it for few days brand new. When I have it on my lap, sometimes when I hit the spacebar key, around the bottom edges it wont register the keystroke. Its annoying, might have to get a replacement and for few days old purchase.
Seems like there could be a compatibility issue with Sabrent drives based on reading some people's comments. I recently purchased the G15 and installed a 2 TB NVMe SSD from Inland (which I realize is not exactly a blazing fast SSD) in the second slot and have had no problems whatsoever. Seems others are having a similar experience with other brands like Samsung SSDs. Likewise, people with Sabrent drives are having the same issues you are. Maybe it's just that Sabrent drives require more power than the G15 was designed to provide over NVMe and perhaps there will be a firmware update in the future that can fix issues, either from Asus or from Sabrent. If I end up seeing similar issues with my "el cheapo" Micro Center special drive, I'll update, but so far so good. Best of luck to you.
I was thinking about holding out and waiting until G15s get back in stock. After watching your video I'm hesitant again. I'm now looking at a Mech G3 but it has the slower intel CPU. But it's available now and it seems to work. I believe it is on the same chassis as the Aero so I'm hoping for similar reliability and performance. Please keep us updated!
How long did it take before the blue screen of death upon going off power and playing a game? I installed the Samsung 1tb 970 evo and left the primary drive in place and no issues yet.
Does anyone's model screen flicker when they plug and or unplug their charger or hdmi cord? Like the screen turns off and on for a quick second. Just want to make sure that's normal.
I've been having similar problems. I have a 2TB Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus in my second SSD slot and I'm running into 2 issues. First, if the computer goes to sleep, my secondary drive will reliably not be detected upon waking up. Second, Windows mode on a 65W USB-C PD I've had it crash on me 2 times. Both times, the top of the screen was blue, the bottom half was black and the system as a whole was unresponsive. I'm going to remove the Sabrent and see if it still happens
A friend of mine has the Asus Ryzen 9 Advantage which has the AMD RX6800M but otherwise is very similar and had weird issues with his Samsung nvme drives and had weird issues which made me think of this video. Curious if the latest firmware updates have helped?
I have the same config as you, minus the Sabrent drives. A few suggestions. If you are running into these issues on battery power, and you've determined that it's a power draw issue, have you considered using a portable USB-C battery charger not necessarily to power charge, but rather smooth power consumption? If you are on the threshold of power consumption limits, then I'd consider trouble shooting as though I was overclocking a GPU. Once I've found the threshold for stability I dial it back until I've found a good balance between performance and stability. May be a similar scenario here. Battery power limits thresholds, which makes sense, so pushing a machine beyond what your power will allow will tend to cause issues. Also, have you disabled turbo boost in silent mode? I mean really disabled it, like in the registry? It makes a HUGE difference, and likely draws a LOT less current when the CPU doesn't boost. The machine also runs quieter, cooler, and (for me anyways) without any performance loss. (I've actually seen performance GAINS by manually disabling CPU boost). If you haven't tried it, here is a link to the same process on a G14. ruclips.net/video/xO227WcpOKw/видео.html
Also, when I worked in VFX we had monster rendering machines that used (at the time) top of the line Quadro GPUs. We had to work on a particular project for VR that required a specific plugin for Nuke, and when we tried performing a certain process (I don't remember which) it would cause the render farm machines to hard reset. We couldn't figure it out for the life of us, until I asked how many watts the PSUs in the machines were rated for. I realized with a bit of napkin math that we were near the draw limit from the wall, so I requested a larger power supply for one of the machines. We tested it and it worked flawlessly every time. So SOME function was causing a power draw spike which would push the PSU beyond limit causing it to panic and hard reset. Maybe the Radeon integrated card also has some weird power draw fluctuations under certain conditions that cause instability. Sounds far fetched, but I've seen WEIRD things happen with my own eyes from insufficient current, so I thought I would throw it out there as food for thought while you trouble shoot. Keep in mind that you are pushing your machine much farther than the average consumer will be pushing their units, so you are likely the exception rather than the rule. But, as I've said, mine is also upgraded with a Crucial 32GB DIMM and dual SSDs, and I am running without any issues, so take that for what it's worth. Best of luck!
I had mine about a month. I am loving it -- I have had good luck setting it to allow windows 10 to handle the power, at 'better performance' (NOT 'best performance') using the base 2560x1440 in display properties. I installed the NVIDIA control panel from the windows store to specify which apps use the hi performance card and which use the integrated graphics.
the first thing you should do is to backup the whole thing using macrium reflect on a bootable flash drive. so that if things go wrong that you are unable to restore it using the on board restore factory default. you can simply use the back up to bring it back to original state.
I have the same laptop and after I added 1tb ssd to a second slot it works unstable. Writing process maybe interrupted and second ssd disappears from the system. I am returning new ssd. But maybe it is the problem with laptop?
Hope you resolve this issue. Liked your review on Asus G15 qc issues. I am looking to know if there are any similar issues on Asus M16 for example BSOD and etc.
elllo i have the same laptop and i m facing the issue of overheating i got my laptop by only a month and in warranty i got motherboard replaced but still it continues to heat . So in 10 min if it is going 96 degree wat should i do
I have no problem with my Zepg15 so far. Except it not sleeping at all :)). Maybe it’s just your device problem. Changed my ssd to 2tb samsung 980 pro.
I’ve experienced that too. No upgrades, but you put it to sleep and bag it. Pull it back out and it’s warm and battery drain because it actually never went to sleep
thank you. we had the same problem. Even with the stock SSD, i still get the BSOD. Same problem happened after upgraded to XPG adata 2tb and 4tb. at first i thought it was due to overheated SSD.
Looking forward to the RAM upgrade performance man. So far, I haven't had problems at all with my G15. Only a blue screen but I guess it was because I didn't update my BIOS for a while.
I also had strange problems with random power drop issue with one of my ASUS laptops (not this exact model). My machine was randomly dropping power when chassis become hot after long time of use. Problem firstly started appearing only on battery but later it also occurring when plugged. What was strange it was only occurring only when I wanted to move laptop or use its keyboard. Later I found out that problem was with keyboard short circuiting. Some electrical tape underneath keyboard fixed the problem and I hadn't any bsod problems since that fix.
I am having a hard time choosing between the Alienware R4 17 and this. I have both in hand, and only have one more day to return the G15 or keep it and return the Alienware. For some reason, I keep being bothered by the Alienware’s 1080p on a 17 inch display. Just seems blurry and makes me lean toward the G15. Sometimes though, having the higher watt GPU on the Alienware is also tilting me that way. 20-50% more FPS at times in games.

Thank you for test this things... can you test LatencyMON issues? With battery and connected to the power source...Greetings and nice info once again.
Why not go with the Strix Scar? I'm looking at getting a laptop and I like the G15, but the Scar has no soldered ram and the 3080 version has a higher GPU power setting. Just wondering if I'm missing something. I agree the G15 looks better and I'm sure I'm missing something. That's why I'm asking.
First off, I think it only comes with a 300hz display on 1080 (in my region at least, the Netherlands) Secondly, it’s heavier by about 300g. Thirdly, it has other ports. From the top of my head 3 usba and 1 usbc, instead of 2 on 2
@@oscarvantfoort777 I think you're right with the display. I believe I was mistaken. I like that 1440p display so I'd probably go with whatever had that.
The UEFI info is stored only on one ssd. The system will refer to only one ssd for this info. You cannot put these settings in two different ssds. Your ubuntu installation can exist on the second ssd tho.
I'm running Arch on mine with two drives without issue. The hangup when installing Linux (or anything really) is that the factory drive ships in slot 1 and the empty slot (on the left in the video) is actually slot 0. Maybe your installer wound up trying to install a bootloader there? You'll also have problems installing Ubuntu, the firmware package on something like Ubuntu 20.04 is *way* too old to support a Cezanne laptop. Try Fedora or EndeavourOS (an easy to install Arch based distro) and you shouldn't have issues.
That’s a real shame you didn’t find this before your return window. Hopefully you can find a solution and make it work for you. Being unstable off of the power brick kinda defeats the purpose of it being a laptop.
I did get a Samsung 2TB drive 7000-speed for mine and the 32GB Micron RAM. I'll let you know if the Samsung drive has the same issue or not. Personally, I like to push things to 80% of max and no further. For one thing, the last 20% usually cost 80% more money and the chance for issues increases as well...
I got this laptop from new egg website, and there was 2 versions one with pre-installed "1 tb ssd" and the other is with "2 tb ssd" and i went with the "2 tb ssd" and since day 1 i got the storage not detected and blue screen deaths.. until today. I thought it was heat problem but till today idk what it is. I updated everything and still facing the same problem. It works fine and then suddenly i got blue screen death.
I think the Asus Zephryus G15 is an over-hyped device. I wanted to get my hands on one of these, but instead went with a Gigabyte Aorus 15G. Unfortunately, it has a 10th gen 8-core Intel CPU coupled with an RTX 3070 (105 watt max), which cannot win against the Ryzen CPU. However, I have installed two new NVME drives in it and it works great. Also, there are two ram slots (no soldered ram), so I get dual channel memory. I think we will see better offerings soon from other laptop manufactures paring AMD Ryzen CPU's with Nvidia 30 series GPU's soon anyways (though availability will be rough)
I’ve got a gen4 980 pro in mine running with no issues in Windows 10 and Fedora 33. I would bet on something going wrong during the cloning or you having a faulty machine.
Your ok bro, I have this exact laptop. If your going to use it to game and for everyday task you are going to be better than just fine. It's a amazing laptop. His problem is after he has added all this stuff to it. The everyday user won't experience these problems. It's a great laptop, I've had absolutely no problems.

@@DevPatel-et9vr I haven't tried uninstalling anything yet. There isn't that much on the laptop to begin with. Nothing compared to my fist Asus laptop that's for sure. When I get home I will try and I will confirm here. The ONLY problem I've had is that my cpu hit 91° last night playing Apex. I can go into manual mode and drop the temp pretty quick, the fan noise doesn't bother me like most I guess. My apartment was warmer than usual as well so a lot of factors go into this. A lot of these reviewers are nit picky, I guess it's nice to let people know, I consider some of it "filler content". The G15 is at the top of it's class, it's a powerful thin and light. I'm very pleased with it and so are the majority of people that own it. I'm glad I was able to find one in stock.
I would do a fresh install of windows with the new drives before you do anything else. You cloned the original drives and are using the machine with whatever drivers/software were loaded for that drive. Since you already have the original drive in its original state, use a new drive with a fresh install of windows (we all know how buggy windows 10 is) and see how it runs then. A lot of problems are resolved from doing a fresh install. Also, update your bios to the latest one if you havent already done so. You can also check to see if "XMP" is enabled in the bios to make sure your memory is working to its maximum timings, this especially helps on AMD based systems. I had this laptop and can say that I never had a problem with it. I was also running it stock so there is that. I only returned it because I decided to get the Asus Zephyrus Duo which has the AMD 5900HX. I dont know why you keep saying it has anything to do with AMD's processor because I have NEVER had a problem with any RYZEN laptop or desktop configuration. 9 times out of 10 it is a software issue. Reinstall windows and see what happens. Just be sure you download all the drivers/software from ASUS's website before you do so you have all the updated software and drivers.
SPOT ON DUDE!!! Similar to what I commented above. I even installed a different version of Windows, which is Windows 10 Pro for workstations, plus Driver Easy software (in case that some drivers are not update up-to-date on Asus Website.) and have no issues at all. Everything works perfectly fine, even overclocked it and undervolted which is definetly giving me better results than factory settings and beating the benchmarkings than other more expensive laptops with "better specs" out there.
Yes, you'll still get 16GB in dual channel. Differing memory sizes run in "flex channel" mode, the matched amounts run as dual channel and the extra runs as single channel. Unfortunately Windows has no intelligence about which segments of ram are faster so it randomly allocates memory from the entire range any time a program requests memory.
I have the new G14 and I think this guy is nuts. You cannot max out a system and then reduce power consumption, fans and hardware to 0. That borders on common sense.
He's adding a 4tb and 8tb ssd in there. I have this laptop with stock ssd and 2tb WD. No issues so far. Had it over a 3 weeks. This issue will probably not affect everyone at all. Those are some mighty expensive SSD he has there.
I watched whole video, still don't understand what's your problem. I'm not techie, never used gaming laptop before. It'd be nice to show us what's going on. I upgraded my g15 with additional 1 tb WD ssd. It is little slow to open games otherwise no problems.
Have you thought about trying different nvme drives, Samsung maybe? I have the 980 pro paired with the stock drive. No problem so far on and off battery. Obviously I’m not putting as much stress on the unit as I only play games, no rendering.

I am having the same issues with my ASUS G733QS. I put the 2 - 2TB Samsung 980 Pro in and it would give me the Blue Screen of Death only when it was running on battery power. I put my 1TB from the factory back in and it would work fine. ASUS is far from helpful. They tell me to just send it in for repairs.
Yeah, ASUS support is really fucking obnoxious when it comes to real hardware or compatibility issues. They've made some mistakes in the ACPI tables in the BIOS as well, only one drive is flagged properly for suspend while the slot that's populated by the Hynix from the factory isn't. If you're having trouble suspending the machine this is a big part of why by the way. I tried reaching out to ASUS about this one and I was told to "provide a video demonstration of the problem"; I guess my patch for the issue on github just isn't good enough.
As someone who has this laptop and is very happy with it, what I’m learning from this is that I won’t be changing any components.
Don’t be discouraged. Most laptops cap at 2TB , and they recommend 1TB per slot probably because of the board components. Use a power efficient Hynix P31 which is the best pci3 ssd for laptops out there.

This problem is due to lack of enough pcie lanes on the ryzen APUs. I think if you put both gen4 nvme or both gen3 nvme this issue won't occur. I think the pcie lanes are shared between the two m.2 slots.
Don't know if that is a solution but it is a good thing to point out to watch for. Thanks.
wish that could solve this issue but I know it can't since a single gen4 drive isn't stable on its own.
Congratulations.
I have ordered a new 2TB ssd and will let you know how it goes after I install it
I had the exact same problem with my g15 3070, solved it by disabling in chrome the use of the hardware accelarating (the gpu)

@@cristian-teodortudor1710 thanks for the update man. Im thinking about purchasing adata XPG SX8200 pro 2tb, is that ssd any good?
I have this computer and the fans go max RPM on cold boot. if you let it warm up and then shut down and boot windows again (not restart) the fans will work normally again. very sad
Did you fix it?
Have you had any issues with games launching on the integrated gpu ?

Try updating the audio bios and also go into the eq and try lowering the bass that might fix the speaker scratches
32gb GSkill sodimm for all the memories
Removed the metal shims from the back cover and used strips of 400 grit ceramic sandpaper to clear flashing from the bottom vents
I got this machine, my 2 cents:
- Clean install windows,
- Spent like 30GB to dualboot with linux, just to compare ur experience with what happened to ur hard drives (I do this, so I am sure if both OS failed means something went erong with my drives).
I have the 2020 edition, and it's good to know that I can upgrade the RAM and 2nd M.2 SSD!

I've resolved my issue. It's not the Sabrent drives...update coming soon.

I'd try adding a 1mm copper heatsink to the drives, that's solved drive stability issues for some people I know.
So wait let me get this right, there is no problem as long as you are plugged in and get electricity? Or did I get it completely wrong?
I just got a G15 , what should be the first thing I do when i get it?
I had mine about a month. I am loving it -- I have had good luck setting it to allow windows 10 to handle the power, at 'better performance' (NOT 'best performance') using the base 2560x1440 in display properties. I installed the NVIDIA control panel from the windows store to specify which apps use the hi performance card and which use the integrated graphics.
Use it and enjoy it?
the first thing you should do is to backup the whole thing using macrium reflect on a bootable flash drive.
so that if things go wrong that you are unable to restore it using the on board restore factory default.
you can simply use the back up to bring it back to original state.
I wonder if it's just owner/user error... I own the same unit... haven't had a peep of trouble with it.

Isnt the upcoming Lenovo legion a better bang for the buck? Also qhd/165hz, Ryzen/nvidea, and no soldered ram...
@Nathaniel Nasarow yeah I also thought that, and the gpu isn’t held back at 80 watts in the Lenovo I think.

Why you think problem with blue screen is problem with ssd or ram? i think problem with ryzen chip
I have a similar problem trying to install ubuntu in my second ssd ( second slot) I am stuck on UEFI things
Update the bios that fixed it for me when I put in my 4TB nvme.
I wonder if the Asus bios is partly the issue? It could be fixed with a bios update.
It been 2 yrs and this laptop still has tpm stutter and PCI lane issues
How to see the on board memory ? I mean how you know its a crusial ?
That’s a real shame you didn’t find this before your return window. Hopefully you can find a solution and make it work for you. Being unstable off of the power brick kinda defeats the purpose of it being a laptop.
I did get a Samsung 2TB drive 7000-speed for mine and the 32GB Micron RAM. I'll let you know if the Samsung drive has the same issue or not. Personally, I like to push things to 80% of max and no further. For one thing, the last 20% usually cost 80% more money and the chance for issues increases as well...

A simple solution to the problem is to install both Sabrent gen4 drives in both the slots and you're good to go.
The Asus g15 2022 has a pcie lane problem with 2 SSD installed
You mentioned that the laptop does not support the gen 4 yet. So maybe that is the issue. Try to stick with components that are supported.
it's power related. Gen4 is backwards compatible

With 40GB, are you still getting 16GB in dual channel? Endless conflicting reports online.
I was saving up to get this machine, when it's available in Canada, now I"m not so sure. I feel like Intel might be a more stable.
I have the new G14 and I think this guy is nuts. You cannot max out a system and then reduce power consumption, fans and hardware to 0. That borders on common sense.
@@Z9SFC imagine thinking that it’s the cpu problem that a ssd wont work

Just to point out you are taking advice from a guy who didn't even unplug the battery when poking around at the components in the laptop...
Don't you have a NAS to store your files? Why you want to put huge amount of storage cap on it!
1TB or 2TB is perfectly fine~
I do but having large capacity storage on the machine is a must for me.
Asus' website seems to indicate that the max amount of Ram is 36 GB, ISN'T IT USELESS TO INSTALL 40 GB? TNX
From this I learnt I should only add secondary ssd (gen3 nvme) and not remove the initial ssd 💀👍🏻
I hope ASUS has a solution or fix for you.
I'm so obsessed with this laptop I'm seeing ALL the red flags with red glasses :(
Following up and subbed!
He's adding a 4tb and 8tb ssd in there. I have this laptop with stock ssd and 2tb WD. No issues so far. Had it over a 3 weeks. This issue will probably not affect everyone at all. Those are some mighty expensive SSD he has there.
Thanks for the update and saving me some money
I watched whole video, still don't understand what's your problem. I'm not techie, never used gaming laptop before. It'd be nice to show us what's going on. I upgraded my g15 with additional 1 tb WD ssd. It is little slow to open games otherwise no problems.
Have you thought about trying different nvme drives, Samsung maybe? I have the 980 pro paired with the stock drive. No problem so far on and off battery. Obviously I’m not putting as much stress on the unit as I only play games, no rendering.
Sometimes the best answer is the most obvious one.
Thanks for saving me $1799, subbed.
You can't get it for that price. It is more than $2000
@@joraphpictures well it’s $1950 with tax if you live in California. I bought it on bestbuy 3 days ago. And If it’s over 2000. That means that website changed the price base off demand
You left-brainers are right, I’ll be sure to calculate taxes and any possible shipping and warranty costs down to the exact penny instead of just quickly using MSRP from now on 😂
@@joraphpictures It's $1799 + applicable taxes on Bestbuy as of this writing!
@@jessekimball6591 yep you should because is misleading
can i have that 2tb?
There is a new zephyrus m16 on the leak 👀
