    Guys this works. 2 days ago I had a software interview for a .NET MVC role. There were 3 interviewers the director, the tech lead, and the DevOps manager. The very first question they asked me was what is MVC. I told them I had actually built a BugTracker using .NET MVC. I asked if I could walk through the application and they were happy to let me do so. I then explained line by line how a user would create a ticket. The interview went from being an intregration to a discussion about the software I had written and the technologies I had used.
    They had algorithm and data structure challenges ready for me but they skipped this entirely because I demoed my project confidently, which is huge relief cause I suck at these types of questions. The main thing is confidence, you need to take control as soon as possible and show them what you've created. 30 minutes after the interview, I received an offer of £26,000. I was over the moon, to say the least.

    I watched your videos about 3 years ago and did projects while learning to code and put them into my github for showcase during interviews and I am successfully working as a software engineer for 1.5 years now, so thanks for the tips! :)

    in summary build a big project that takes at least 100hours not a simple 2hr "project"

      I wouldn't say thats the best summary. You can still build a bad project in hundreds of hours.

    I have tried to build the bug tracker after I saw your last video but that was so harsh. Wasn't easy at all. Especially about the front-end things.
    Can I get an advice how to deal with rendering the view as a want-to-be-backend developer ?

    • @CoderFoundry
      @CoderFoundry  2 года назад +5

      Yeah it’s not an easy project, but it’s achievable if you just work on it in sprints. Deal with one feature at a time.
      Use a template for the front end. There are a few dashboard style templates you could use.

    question, I know with .NET you have Identity framework, but javascript is another thing, you said you don't recommend implementing your own authorization/authentication solution, is there any reason for that?

    • @CoderFoundry

      Because it's difficult and doing badly leads to bad consequences

    Amazing, I'll start working on this. However, what do you think about a web app to track schedules for workers like to clock in and clock out and send that to a database so you can keep logs of people's schedules? For me it would solve a business problem and it would require authentication and databases, will it work?

    I'm searching for some advanced project ideas as a full stack web developer. I suggested the bug tracker idea to my instructor and he rejected it cause it's very similar to Jira Software. I need a project that has at least 2 user types (admin, user...) and 2-3 catchy features other than CRUD operations (for example adding notifications, maps, live chatting, ai chatbot )
    Plz if someone have a good idea send me

    What technologies would be necessary to build this with javascript?

    • @CoderFoundry
      @CoderFoundry  Год назад

      You need html css js. You will need a db and a way to access it. You can use node js. But if you haven't learned that yet. Build it with asp.net.

    Just had my first interview a few days ago and I’m loosing couple of night sleep, thinking what o should’ve said or done. Despite the fact that I know how much you guys talk about showing the project working, I didn’t make the call during the interview. When they asked about this, I started explaining my project and said that I could show them everything if they wanted ( hoping for a
    Positive answer)
    Now I feel guilty for not making that call so that I could show my project working
    Very sad 😔
    Also, should I follow up with an email?

      The problem with the way people perceive tech content on RUclips is that a video from 2019 is seen as "old" and people question if the content is still relevant (rightly so) so we needed a new version. We could have just re-uploaded the original but felt we needed to clarify a couple of things.
