Epic conclusion to Prime's decades long arc.
One of the best supervillain redemption story.
Absolutely loved it.
The Craziest Superman vs The Craziest Batman... except Prime is chill af now.
the point of doing a redemption arc for the villain is not to enforce it on someone who has gone to far and showed no guilt in their actions but done carefully with someone with guilt and realizing their mistakes shows how real it can be
@@comicbookreviewer4856 *"the point of doing a redemption arc for the villain is not to enforce it on someone who has gone to far and showed no guilt in their actions but done carefully with someone with guilt and realizing their mistakes shows how real it can be"*
Everything you said was wrong. Absolutely nothing you said was right. The point of Redemption Arcs are for any villains regardless of how villainous they are or whether they show guilt for their actions are.
Most redemptions arcs in fact are based around villains who committed several atrocities and show no guilt for it.

The one thing DC's writers actually got right is Superboy Prime's sacrifice. And you just _know_ they're going to fuck it up by resurrecting him in the most anticlimactic way possible.
It was not shown here, but Superboy-Prime actually ended up in his own universe, with Laurie and his parents who does not fear him. And when he saved a little child, he discovered he still has his powers.

Ironically he's fom our earth and was as tired as we are from BWL's crap.
Probably the worst thing to do against Prime in a fight is try to belittle him. Im pretty sure it enraged him when Panda(or whatever her name was) called him a kid shortly after he attacked Conner in Smallville.
PRIME TIME
Let's go my boi prime
Agreed, dude...agreed. I hope DC doesn't give in to the temptation of resurrecting Superboy Prime. (Although we all know they will.) His death couldn't have been more magnificent and moving. A brutal smackdown between himself and the most evil being in all Creation, with only Krypto to mourn his sacrifice. *_"I SAID LAUGH"_* should be the quote carved into his tombstone as a middle finger to all the nihilistic supervillains of the DC universe from the Joker to Darkseid.
@@TheBermudaMan the next time they brought him , he definitely will be nerfed to the core , or else he gonna have to fight with lucifer or something
It is truly fitting that it's Superboy Prime that would be able to defeat the Batman Who Laughs. The entire reason that Superman would ever lose to Batman is only because Superman is too much of a boyscout and having a kryptonite weakness. Superboy Prime is not a boyscout, and he lacks a kryptonite weakness. He's the one Superman that NO Batman could EVER defeat.

"We'll never know" as Krypto is crying over SBP corpse is sad as fuck. Truly a heroes death. It upsets me to know that later on Conner Kent is gonna disrespect SBP & say he ran away or something.
Well, Conner does have a very troubled history with Prime.....and its perfectly reasonable for him to doubt Prime without knowing the end result.

Interesting tidbit, Prime is laying in almost the exact same pose as Superman when he died vs Doomsday. A bit of tribute, a way to say 'Yes. For all his faults, he died a hero.'
Prime was never a bad person, he was jus angry and confused. Seeing Krypto howl like that kinda made me sad. Even Superboy had man's best friend🦸♂️🐕🦺
I think he became a bad person because of the choices he made. There's still good in him but he still chose to do what he did. At least he became the hero he was supposed to be in the end.
@@marxvargas7697 yeah I know right. Went through the Multiverse killing countless heroes but in the end he was alone and I think that frightened him more than anything. Not to mention he's rediculously strong.
@@Omni313rd His motivation stemmed from seeing the heroes in his childhood become a lot different that to him goes against what heroes was supposed to be according to him. After his home was destroyed, he was stuck on a planet with another Superman Earth Two(Superman from the past Actions Comics), and is in a peaceful world with no action. Everything he did was to put back to what it used in his childhood, and hated everything that was different, so he lashed out at heroes of our generation, in a attempt to create the world of his choosing.
He was a lost boy who never got to put his powers to use in his own world, have his own adventures as a superhero. After all that, after Krypto showed him kindness, he did finally step into the role of a Superman. And after that, after his death, he's back home.

To everyone saying that Superboy Prime is weak. Just to point out.
Superboy Prime has consistent fought on par with at least universal level beings like Ion and Monarch. He has taken on the entire Justice League and all of Earth's superheroes at the same time on multiple occasions. Even the Green Lanterns Guardians had a tough time against him. He was heavily nerfed in the fight against Captain Marvel and Black Adam due to extremely bad writing. But otherwise Superboy Prime's power level has been pretty consistent.
Not to mention when he fought Ion he was weakned.
Superboy Prime is Multiversal+ so yeah he is pretty fucking strong
He only got stronger since then, the reason he lost against black adam and shazam was because he was under red sun exposure for a very long time and recently escaped finally when he fought shazam and adam.
It was Superman prime, not superboy. He became stronger and started wearing black costume

Guess it was the other way around for Superboy
Actually Superboy prime was a hero after he helped saved the multiverse in the first crisis but Lived long enough to become the villain, however he didn't die a villain and went long enough to see himself become a hero again.
@@enochyawwiredu7170 perfect explanation! He sure redeemed himself
So, what I gather is, the Batman Who Laughs became some sort of dark god-being, turned 52 parallel Earths evil, and used them to attack the mainline Earth, so they gathered a multiversal army of defenders of all stripes for a climactic final battle. And during this final showdown, Superboy Prime graduates to Superman Prime, sacrifices his life and his dreams to kill a god and restore what that god set wrong, and he will never be remembered for it in the comic multiverse, but his selfless act sent him to his home, his parents, and his girlfriend, with his powers intact, and they love him.
...
That's a fucking awesome way to end the Batman Who Laughs arc, and finally resolve the snarl that is Superboy Prime.
Well, BWL arc didnt even end, thing that i hate
@@santiagodiaz1879 Tbf, I think what happened here was some cosmic fuckery. Superboy Prime tried to kill BWL and died in the process, temporarily disrupting or damaging BWL long enough for the rest of the heroes to get their shit together, but from how BWL and Wonder Woman have their final battle, from what I remember at least, BWL did some reality shenanigans to reverse some of what Prime did. Not enough to change things, but enough so that no one would notice any of what went on after the fact. Way I see it, BWL wants evil to reign, so the heroes seeing a once thought irredeemable monster die a hero’s death would go against his plan. Does it make sense, course not - but beings on BWL’s level don’t give a fuck about linear time and reality, but Prime’s actions still mattered and they still helped win the day. It’s why he got his happy ending after all that, on his own world with his parents and his love, Laurie, where they all love him as the kind and hopeful boy he was, not the monster he lived as for years. He even managed to keep his powers, so he finally has a chance to be the hero he always dreamed of. Joker said all it takes was one bad day to turn a good man bad and he’s right, but he missed something when he said that: all it takes is one good deed to turn a bad man good. The evil Prime committed can never be undone, but he earned his happy ending and what is clear now is his own second chance at life, the way it was meant to be before he lost his world. It’s up to him now not to fuck it up, which is kind of the whole deal with second chances.

And he'd be right. Krypto _doesn't_ pose any threat to TBWL. It's what Krypto brings out of Superboy-Prime at a pivotal moment that turns the tide.

In the end he proved he was a Superman. I heard it said a hero is someone who bares the loss so others don't have to. Over and over again Superboy Prime lost his world and any hope of seeing it again. The problem was he even after it was gone he just kept clinging to it. But in that final moment he embraced what it really is to be a hero, not to be loved for your great deeds but to let go of your own desires to make sure evil does not win.

Superboy(man) - Prime was never an actually evil character, he was just a sad person who lost everything and made many bad choices in trying to get back what he lost. Every time he made a bad choice he just got buried in more and more guilt and the weight of it all kept him from trying to do things in any way other than pushing forward even if it was over the bodies of his former friends. He had so much guilt he could never say sorry and ask for help, as you can see with Connor, they had already made up their minds about him just like how he made up his mind about them. "Why won't they help me?" - Prime, "He is just a crazy murderer" - Everyone else.
Just so everyone knows... Prime didn't actually die... he just went home to Earth-Prime. Like he always does. He gave a little stinger line at the end where he was like "lol I'm not gone for good". But I really do feel like it's important to point out how ridiculously op this storyline made Prime. Like even more than before. I love this redemption arch. Not only did he die in the exact same position as Superman after fighting Doomsday but the S Prime carved into his chest isn't visible anymore.
I think DC wanted to say goodbye to Prime by acknowledging him as the old Silver Age superman and gave him that separate bubble outside the current multiverse where he can sneeze out his solar systems and all.

What a tear jerker but, I personally prefer the Prime that was punching holes through heroes, ripping heads off, fighting Monarch to a stand still. DC and Marvel just don't know what to do with Prime and Sentry.
At least Prime defeated Manhattan who laughs.
@@sddlol19 facts that sentry getting ripped by knull was complete ass to me
That prime literally had no depth besides a tantrum throwing edgy teen. If they stuck with that, then all of Prime’s writing from his involvement with the Legion to the rest of post crisis would be ignored, which would honestly just ruin the character. I don’t understand why you would want to see that prime when he is far past that. It’s just plainly dumb imo that you would prefer some nonsense fights that we always see to some actual long lasting and valuable character development.
@@hyped-up-charlie you really underestimate knull , sentry fan. The guy is multiversal.. taken down celestials
@@apputaiparambil no he not sound just like those dudes who say when you dodge light you are light speed 😂 knull is the celestials natural enemy he is on there level not above it the celestials are not multiversal they are strong but not multiversal there is many versions of them
Let it be known that no matter how powerful a batman like character will be based on timeline or alternate watever....a superman like character will ALWAYS come out on top.
dude it depends on the story lmao there are literally a lot of times batman has beaten him and times where sups beated him they cant make one win always they are the most popular lmao

@@yigitcanozmen9531 u Bat fans are worse. But yes after Batman who laughs gets the powers of perpetua yes he is broken
I would have never expected such a great redemption for Superboy Prime.
Prime was never meant to be villain, he lost everything so he went on a rampage mode wrecking everything but tbh he's always someone who wants to help, I mean when it was a multiverse crisis Superboy left his home to help Superman but in the end lost everything and everyone and I think Superboy prime is still alive and we will see him soon in the end fighting alongside WW
Best thing about Prime was when he called out the DC writers for doing him dirty lol
So it is now that he is laid to rest a noble sacrifice that no one know he made the ultimate tragedy a forgotten hero. He may have more misses then hits in his tenure in comics I am in a minority opinion about like Prime. His origin is racked with unexpected tragedy learning that he is indeed his childhood idol only mere moments later having his life and loved ones ripped away from them forever wanting some semblance of them back. He saved the multiverse before but no one knew it and being 16 at most at the time just got to sit back and watch to see the other hero's get the happy ending that he thinks he deserved something snapped that day. Theres a lot of significance in his villain name SuperBOY prime even though his like 20 by this point originally just a stand in for Superboy classic in the original crisis its come to represent Primes psychological issues and tragedy that no matter how hard he tried he is not Superman his selfishness kept him petty and immature but here he finally moved past that letting go of his own dreams and desire to save everyone. He may have lived as Superboy but he died the person the Man he wanted to be. Goodbye Clark I don't know about others but I'll definitely miss you.
Theres an important lesson to be learned here: Loving a girl might become catastrophic, but loving a dog will always be good.
“You can’t destroy me anymore than I can destroy you…”
Prime: you haven’t been here long, huh?
"Finally the batman who barfs army is showing up for a fight, about time for some action"...its Prime Time bayybe!!!
All the super boy prime vs videos need to be updated now 😂 since so many haters down played the level of power he has
For real
FR
They didn't know what they were talking about
They dumb!
He always felt like the most human character in the comics and this is one of my favourite moments he has given up feels like everything is against him then krypto lifts up his paw
Currently writing a novel about how being a hero is equal parts incredibly important and costly to oneself. One quote that I'm thinking of putting in that I think summarizes it fairly well is, "To be a hero is to be a fool, but it is to be a fool upon which the existence of the world will depend upon." With all that being considered, this video had me tearing up quite a bit near the end since I'm a sucker for thematic parallels.
for something prime was always my favorite character. and it is also worth emphasizing that a dog in most cases gives you a chance to be a better person.
He has risen above his past and faced an ultimate evil to save others. He is now worthy of the title of: Superman.
the most beautiful character in the dc universe I hope to see him more often in the comics
I love Superboy Prime! The power, tragedy, and questionable morality just sucks me in every time. He dominates the page every time I see him.
It wounds me to see him have to give up his dream again.
The Best Redeeming Story of a Character 👍
It's been building since the 80s, FINALLY superboy prime's arc ends after over 30 years.
No matter how OP your boss is, you can always rely on some version of Superman to just punch it hard enough, and the problem gets solved.
Why i don't read his stories in a nutshell.
@@ianmcfadden2794 why I love to read his stories because "Hope" prevails.
This was the best thing to come out of the entire dark multiverse, the true power of Superman Prime on full display fighting what is in effect an evil Dr. Manhattan.
he came in as a boy... went out like a man
This fight kinda backs up the claim that Superboy Prime has resistance to matter manipulation as I’m pretty sure many attacks that Batmanhattan was trying to use on him was intended to subatomically disperse him, it even has that special molecule type attack aura you see appear when beings like Molecule Man, Captain Atom, Regular Dr. Manhattan, and Sentry with void power use their matter manipulation. Most notably at 6:30 he’s goading Batmanhattan to try and kill him, in which we see him try to unleash some matter manipulation energy attack in his face point blank, we see SBP in pain but he clearly shrugs it off and shouts “kill me, I’ll kill you” meaning that attack he took was most definitely some attempt by Batmanhattan as a one shot molecular attack. Implying that SBP is somehow in a state beyond matter manipulation or this level of existence erasure at least. I’m certain higher level beings that are outerversal can most definitely erase him.
He's from our world where none of that stuff exists, same applies to magic. He's a Silver Age Kryptonian without the weaknesses, although he's more powerful though due to him being able to casually Retcon or shatter dimensions
yes but bwl is outerversal Himself lol
