  • So we happened upon an old Chapel c1100 in a remote part of the Derbyshire Dales in a tiny village called Ballidon. We were surprised to find it open and are thankful that it was.
The spiritual ambiance, the location and natural echo in the building made me want to improvise / create music in that space.
We discovered that this chapel is amongst a collection of redundant places of worship cared for by www.friendsoffriendlesschurches.org.uk who preserve these churches for the local community and visitors to enjoy.
In the video I am playing an old Epiphone acoustic tuned to DADGAD with capo at the 4th fret, I think... please enjoy and remember to like, share and subscribe.

Your playing in this lovely Friends church helped me to uphold several sick and troubled friends today. I listened before .. and now again, a soothing restorative . Thank you.

Such buildings always have a great acoustic - lots of natural reverb - is the guitar in DADGAD - some similarities to your 2020 winter solstice piece - although obviously at a different tempo - certainly a place to sing some Christmas carols - hope you are keeping well and surviving the pandemic - cheers Clive

I love playing in these environments, you cant help but be inspired. The guitar is in DADGAD with a capo, I think I used a chord or two from the piece you mentioned and then improvised from there adding various bits of melody.. thanks for listening and commenting, much appreciated Clive 👍
