Y'all know this is just my opinion, right? What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh? - Видеоклипы
I really don't like the way a lot of reviewers seem to be outright trying not to give her credit for her production and overly mentioning the other co-producers on the album while not mentioning her at all. The same happened when she produced that Lucki Eck$ song they credited her as a featured artist just because she sings a little on it while ignoring her being the producer.
I’m just glad that both artists have found the mainstream light
LUCKI!!!
tune
So far, Pendulum is the one I'm feeling so much. Harmonies are perf.
Papi Pacify is my shit
Biokemist that's coo
Never heard it.. I'll listen to it after this.
mine too
right !!!
I feel like FKA twigs is under-rated as a producer
absolutely
This is true. I wholeheartedly agree. Can't compare EP1 to EP2 production wise but her solo production is interesting.
@@z28camaro79 arca
John Connor seeing her tomorrow:)
Arca solo-produced a lot of the songs on this though
closer is my favorite song on this lp!!!!
I wanna draw her.
Paint her like one of your french ladies

oh shit strong 8 to a 9, I'm shocked you liked it so much. i loved it but its good to hear your expertise on her music
Boy, "Give Up" is freaking gorgeous!!! That beat is sick! Loving FKA Twigs. Wonderful artist, she has it all.
I love EP2 and LP1. Fka Twigs is such an artistic character. She knows who she wants to be in the music industry visually and sonically, and I respect her big time for taking such massive risks. She truly is a remarkable artist.
Two weeks is so damn good. Yo Anthony are you gonna review Banks's new album when it comes out?
Apéritif 420 i'm thinking about it.
theneedledrop I hope you do. I'm really curious to hear your thoughts on it.

She's amazing and I'm completely captivated
THANK YOU, everyone's been comparing this album to Bjork's Homogenic and although there might be some influences of it in there, it's far more Vespertine to me. Atmospherically, musically, even lyrically, as to where Bjork used a lot of unconventional sexuality on that album (which is also my favorite, btw).
It actually took me 3 complete listens before I could give this album a thorough review on Metacritic. It was something that had to sink in at first, because some songs came off as uneventful at first, but I guess I just listened to them differently, because they came off as more ethereal upon later listens. Personally, Hours is one of my favorites, but I respect your opinion. Nice review, I gave it a 9 on Metacritic (which would have been an 8.5 if that were an option, so I just went for the 9, because she deserves the compliment). She's one of my favorite artists in pop-ish music right now.
Two Weeks, Pendulum, Give Up, Video Girl and Kicks ARE MY GODDAMN PERFECT FAVORITE SONGS!!
Alessandro Boicel Hide is my shit
btw i forgot to add Papi Pacify
Give up is spectacular
I love Kicks
I think Lights On is my number one
Give Up was deffo my fav track.

...okay...
see what i mean?
am i the only person in the world who sees this as an updated, heavily electronic version of '90s british trip-hop? isn't "psychadelic, slow moving pop" the exact definition of trip-hop?
To be honest- I was introduced to the artist, because I was listening to Snoops' internet show, and T-Pain was on. Snoop asked him, "If you were on an island for year what three albums would you take with you"? T-Pains response was "LP1". T-Pain goes on to say that her music brought him back, cause he was kind of done. Snoop, reply's "so she brought you back", then goes on to talk about how dope her videos were. So after checking her out- and listening to your review. This chick is the "New - New" and its fucking refreshing!!!! Cheers to her and the production team!
I love this album so much. Was such a surprise too since I was never a fan of her ep's.

R U kiddin? Water me is soooooo good.
Jean René De Latruite-Matideule Ok I did like Water Me. Everything else just felt a bit unoriginal.
name bob I agree
Personally, I think this could be a contender to be one of the best pop/R&B records of the year, maybe even of the decade. With its sustained beauty and trailblazing aesthetic, this record could easily be a 9/10 in my book.
Reading through some of the comments on this video, I see the words 'overrated' and 'hype' laced in with almost every critical response to it. I'm not a huge fan of this album, but I would never describe it as 'overrated', because I would never associate myself with such an embarrassingly lazy and cliched way of describing an album. But if you think about it, is it even logically possible for an album to be 'overrated' or 'overhyped' in a free market? What does overhyped even mean? That there's some vast conspiracy of listeners writing fake reviews and pretending to like the album? Until someone gives proof that this phenomenon actually exists, use of the word 'overrated' to describe ANY album/film/artist is completely untenable and subjective. For me, overrated/overhyped are innately smug and useless ways of describing how a person experiences music, regardless of the context they're being used in, even if I agree with the reviewer's aversion to the music. An honest critique should discuss the specific merits of an album rather than concern itself with how highly other listeners should or shouldn't gauge it. In my book, there's no such thing as an overrated album. If an album is widely-praised, there's always a good reason for it, regardless of what you think about it on a personal level. I challenge any hipster to prove how it would even be possible for an album to demonstrably be considered 'overrated' in a free market where people are free to like/dislike what they please.
Finally listened to Lp 1 and man.. Holy shit I was on the edge of my seat. I was biting my nails listening to this lol such a great album. I can't wait to see what Twigs does next. She's incredible.
Robert Pattinson is such a lucky guy.
She's dating Shia LaBeouf now... weird choice, but who am I to judge
Welp...
Robert pattinson: collabed with death grips, had a relationship with fka twigs, worked with david cronenberg, cast as the batman. What a guy

Two weeks is a masterpiece. She is a real talent and I am totally under her spell.
Pendulum is probably my favorite track but they're all pretty good. I dig an musical artist who can convey such complex emotion using so few lyrics

theneedledrop how do you spell the artist who produced yeezus
MegaGoonnigga Arca?
Puzzleton yes thank you i couldnt quite catch what he was he saying
No problem. I really suggest listening to Arca, very talented artist
I think that twigs and her collaborators have created one of the strongest debuts in recent memory. Bravo. Interesting about your opinion of closer being too bare. I really felt that the stripped back quality of the song paralleled it's really poignant message. All in all, good review, amazing album
It's odd that he didn't enjoy Hours too too much.
Are you reviewing the Michael Cera album?
***** u mad?
I watched this about a month ago, before I actually gave the album a listen. A few days ago I decided to listen to the whole album, no skips. I agree with everything you said. Hours and Closer are weak tracks, but overall the album was pretty solid.
I dont agree about closer and hours
Hours is so good. Listen with headphones.
Since I first heard her music I've been confused (in a good way) I'm in love with her aesthetic that seems to go perfectly with her dense yet delicate music. Great review!
I just can't get into FKA Twigs yet. I really didn't enjoy this album. But I'm relistening right now. I'm trying, Anthony. I'm fucking trying
I feel your pain
Try her EP's first. Papi Pacify is a great place to start.
dont force yourself to like it
tarjay35 Yeh. Kinda part of the joke. I'm aware.
You don't have to force yourself to like overrated music.
As far as the song writing, I like how at first we think the message is plainly laid out, then she kind of hints at certain things to have the listener question our initial reception on certain tracks like "closer." Which is what I like about good song writing sometimes. Keeps me listening over and over again.
Still one of my favorite albums ever.
I will keep this album forever. Classic.
im so satisfied with the way FKA Twigs escalades towards perfection
I'm gonna check this out, thanks for sharing this brilliant review man!
The new Pallbearer record?
Also, I listened to this album the day it came out having tasted the appetizers of "Two Weeks" and "Pendulum," and that patience paid off so well. Even though I love those songs, I honestly feel that "Video Girl" is the best track on LP1. It, for me, comes as close to perfect as one can get with a song.
I think Closer is my fav just for those beautiful beautiful harmonies and little voices through, just gives me chills
me too
Lights On, Pendulum, Hours, Numbers, Kicks, Give Up.
Yes! Two Weeks does have that Vespertine-quality to its production.
You're so thorough with your information & colourful with your word choice!
I genuinely appreciate it
xoxo; A fellow music junkie :*
This was the first review i watched from fantano back in 2014 and ive been a fan ever since.
Love the way u describe music subscribed
I am so glad you like it, and we have pretty much the same favourite songs!
I particularly love her voice for some reason, and It took a while to get into it, but it is a great breath of fresh air in pop/r&b/whatever this is..
You should do a review of the irrepressibles album mirror mirror. I would love to hear your opinions on the content of that work. Your channel is awesome! Thanks for being awesome.
Thanks for introducing me to her Anthony I absolutely love her music. What albums would you recommend that have a similar sound to this one?
Anthony, I hope you also review Kimbra's new album. Women are killing it this year
finally listening to it and loving it. ty Anthony Flagano.
This is the first time you mention my country Venezuela. Is kinda weird tbh haha. I'm a fan of Arca, excited to give this a listen.
the vespertine reference made me gasp! (in a good way of course..)
I came across some of her songs on spotify, i'll download her album now :) Great review
Hey Anthony, could you review BANKS' album "Goddess", and LIGHTS' album "Little Machines" when they come out?
Great album, probably my second favorite of the year. Water Me from EP2 is what drew me into her.
this is my favorite album atm -- glad i haven't been over-exaggerating when recommending it to people lol.
Can't wait to hear the LP, I actually liked EP2 a lot.
BTW considered reviewing WIFE - What's Between?
Great analysis man
great review!
SHE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ARTISTS
I like the score you gave for the LP but sole small differences in opinion in some tracks. Could you please review the Jeremih and Shlomo ep/ mixtape? I think you'll enjoy it.
This dude rates all of my favorite albums an 8/10 (except money store). He gave taboo an 8, he gave veteran an 8, he gave nothing great about Britain an 8. What is with this guy?
I am starting to fall in love with music again.
Antonio, the wait is almost over - J Mascis "Tied To A Star" is out Aug 25.
It's the best album of the year, you have to review it :)
It would be cool if you made a review for the Michael Cera album, I'm curious about your opinion on it. (: It has some really pretty tunes.
my fav album of this year BY FAR
I really have to thank ya for showing me GY!BE and Death Grips, as well as this FKA twigs record and many other records as well. Big Thanks.
Anthony, why don't you review the new BRANX EP? I was so blown away, I haven't heard that solid or good of an electronic record in 2014.
Wow. Was just finishing up my review when I saw this. And sounds like we agree on most points, even down to our least favorite tracks - but I dig "Hours", especially in the way that pillow-talk kind of refrain is twisted into an unhealthy fixation. I also love how the "girl" in the "Video Girl" chorus sounds sometimes like "ghost". Not sure how that fits in an autobiographical way, but doesn't sound like an accident. I'd probably go in the 8-9 territory, too.
Anthony Fanta... great review! I really loved this pop record by Twigs
I like how happy anthony looks on the thumbnail
I love this album so much. Good review for good music!
pretty random, but have you listened to Last Dinosaurs' debut album in 2012 titled "In a Million Years"? I know it's a bit older, but I just really wanted to hear your review of it and if you know of similar artists
Please review harlequin dream - Boy and bear before you get to Australia, would like to hear what you think!
Nailed this one Fantano great work! theneedledrop
Would you please review San Fermin? I am curious about how you would review their self titled debut album which came out September of last year.
Liked your review. Really wish you delved more into the themes and subject matter. I Thought this album was wonderful
I literally agree with everything Anthony said in this video I'm so happy
I listened to this album on spotify just before I watched your review and I agree with you. It's a great album!
Because of this channel i found a great album which is rare these days
LP1 is phenomenal. It's such an odd, creepy, addictive sound that it's one of those albums that it'll never get old. Every song keeps growing on you. Every time you listen to each song, you discover something new within it. Whether that be a production glitch, new lyrics, or new vocals. Twigs is phenomenal and I agree with this review 100%. 10/10 for sure. She is one of the most captivating, mysterious, interesting artists in the game right now. I wouldn't be surprised if we heard Two Weeks slay on pop radio as well. But that's up to her team.
I've checked out the album but totally didn't understand it. It even scared me a bit with the sound. And i'm questioning myself if i'm too dull to get it or the world just went mad. But after watching your review i see, that it's probably my fault. Could you please recommend something to listen to understand such a genre? Because everybody is so in love with the record and i understand that it's the future of the pop music.
Thank you for your amazing job!
FKA Grips When?
whniwsyrsndtrck omfg that would be amazing
whniwsyrsndtrck Wet Wipez is getting in Death Grips territory
Hey anthony, You should do a track review on Captain Murphy's new song: Cosplay
Dew Yeezy i thought it was boring.
theneedledrop I thought that cap murph track was boring too
Hours is so sensual how can you not like it ?
Twigs and James Blake are a breath of fresh air for R&B IMO. Great Review!
Regarding your speculation on Video Girl: From mtv.com:
The R&B artist (born Tahliah Barnett) - before getting signed to Young Turks - was probably best known for her roles in music videos for the likes of Ed Sheeran, Kylie Minogue and Jessie J. “Video Girl” is about separating herself, in a sense, from that experience.
“I wrote that very shortly after I stopped being a video girl,” the British singer/producer told Pitchfork. “When I got signed, I stopped dancing - I’d given up that part of my life. I would go out, and somebody would be like, ‘Oh, I recognize you!’ I’d hope it was because they’d heard my music, but they’d say, ‘Are you that girl from the Jessie J video?’” The musician would always answer “no.”
that review was so awesome it's like you know what to say about my love
Many thanks for introducing me to this artist!
Based on their new "I am Nothing" track, what's your forecast for the new Electric Wizard album? High hopes or meh?
Heard the album twice and I'm hooked. Hours is probably my favourite track - i get the clutter complaint but it didn't bother me - i still adored its sound. The style reminds me of a more experimental version of Lana Del Rey's 'Born to Die'... only with more ethereal, sexier vocals and phenomenal production. I haven't dissected or read closely into all of the lyrics; not to say the singer is bad, but the production is so infectious and clearly has given this album its critical edge. I can't wait to hear it more and hear what 'arca' and twigs have to offer next!
I was worried this was gonna be a low score :'), amazing album
I love it because of her I am moving into a more Experimental Pop route 🐆
are you gonna do the new royal blood album? it has some absolute bangers
Hey, Anthony. Can you consider reviewing Twelve Foot Ninja's album, Silent Machine please? I think you'll like it a lot.
I want to see you shit on All You Can Do by Watsky
Will Hanz hmmmmmmm
theneedledrop do it
theneedledrop another vote on a review for the Watsky album
Haven't heard it yet but Cardboard Castles was an amazing album. Definite 7/10 I'd be truly disappointed if its as bad as you guys say it is especially with the 3 singles (Whoa Whoa Whoa, Right Now & Ink Don't Bleed) being great.
Damn its been a while since i saw him this enthusiastic ,i will go listen to it asap.
