Thank you so much for the review Rich 👏👏👏😊
My pleasure! Ray!
Your the BEST, Rich! Your unboxing’s and Reviews are an inspiration to me for MY YT 3 (and counting) channels.
Wow! Thank you so much! I appreciate the comment!
Rich, you were right! I got a 60 lp/m aquarium pump for $45. I did the same material test in lightburn for no air, 30lpm (from Comgrow) and the new 60lpm aquarium pump. The 60lpm pump had several more squares that were completely cut. So, it does make a difference! Thanks for your help!
Yes Sir, glad it helped!
do you have a link for 60l?
I see video from you - I watch it. It's that simple.
Wow! Thanks!
these diodes are getting crazy
36W coming next month! 🤪
First of all, thank you very much for all the videos you make, a great job.
The question I ask you is if it is possible to connect this laser module with a control board "MKS DLC 32 V2" working with lightburn? It's possible. Thanks.
I really can't answer that.
thanks for the info.... Can one use the better air assist units on the xtool D1?
Yes you can!
Nice! Looks like it has a separate power supply? The only thing coming from the machine is the pwm signal? I may end up hooking this up to my cnc machine. It's only a 400x300 now, but I intend to expand it to 600x600 and eventually 1000x1000. To have a 20w laser on that large of a work area..
Yes and yes. The e-stop is also the power switch and has its own PS.
Hi Rich the new module looks great. I was wonder though it looks quite a bit larger than the Z1 10W. Do the limit switches work anymore?? Also do you lose work area with the larger laser head?
No and yes, I covered it in the video Warren. You have to reposition the limit switch and you do loose a few mms of workspace.
Oh sorry I must have missed it I will go back and re-watch it..thanks Rich I enjoy your videos!
Thank you Rich for taking your time to show us this new module. I am curious on your thoughts on an upgrade to a 20 watt laser vs something like
a Monport K40 CO2 laser.? Obviously the diode lasers have a larger work area but the CO2 lasers are much faster. I looked at the Monport website
and see that they have on of their machines that is only $60 more than the cost of the Comgrow 20 watt laser head.
I can't afford either but your response may help someone that can make a purchase. ------ Thank You
For me it's always going to be Co2, but I love all of my lasers Dan.
thanks for the review, Have an Orture LM3, but for the difference in cost Im going with the Monport 40w c02 with your upgrades. Nice to know it's available, but looks like they may be pricing them selves out of the market, but on the other hand their first batch sold out rite away.
They're actually the cheapest 20W module on the market right now, but yes, it is expensive to upgrade!
It looks good. Nice that will fit on other lasers as well. My only question is, does the motherboard and power wires to the laser support the higher current? I guess it must since it seems to be working okay.
No, the e-stop is the power controller and that has its own power supply. So the PS for the laser actually has less of a load.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy oh okay, so you end up with two power supplies. That is actually probably a better idea. I was thinking about buying a 5 watt laser as this woild be my first laser, but having the ability to uprade the laser module is definitely a plus.
I wonder how hard it would be to adapt it to the Neje 3S frame. It seems substantially more powerful than the A40640.
I don't know, I don't have a 3S.
I got 24 v 4 a can I run this on my machines wires I appreciate newbie to lasers and love the content u put out thx a 10000000000
This has its own power supply, so yes.
I found this module (new) for sale quite a bit below list. A google search brought me to this review. Have you continued to use this module and if so, how is it holding up? Have you tried to install on a Ortur LM2 Pro?
It's one of the best 20W modules I have. No, I haven't tried it on the LM2, but I have heard others have.
Will the whole shield come off the bottom? if so could you run it without it? Ive taken the shield off of my 20w Xtool D1 so I can see better
No Larry...
Hello Rich, thanks so much for this video. I just got this module for my OML3 As you know this module is much larger than what comes with the OML3. Do I need to adjust the work space size to accommodate this module, or will it work fine with the settings for the 10 watt module that comes with the laser?
I don't know, I haven't tried it on the LM3.
Do I need both power supplies connected to the machine?
Yes
Dear friend,
I have a 10W Sculpfun S30 Pro, I recently bought a 20W laser head, it came with the driver, I turned it on as the diagram sent me, but it's not working as I would like. When I turn on the driver key, the laser already fires, scratching the piece, and it also doesn't turn off when the work is finished. Can you help me?
You can try entering $32=0 and press Enter in the Console.
Hey Rich... am I missing something? Atzer says they're air assist is 30l unit not 60....
I could be wrong Michael. I'll have to go back and check. The old brain is getting tired! 🤪
Hey Rich, I'm trying to find the latest and greatest 20w cut file settings, can you point me to a link? Thanks
Try my free forums. lahobbyguy.com/bb
There are a couple there in the members only downloads.
how does the spot size and focal length compare to the other 20 watt
I didn't do the line testing, but I will be in the battle of the 20W lasers in a few weeks.
Any word on when ortur is dropping its new 20w optical laser module they said it would be released this month
Haven't heard a peep Marty.
@The Louisiana Hobby Guy I had talked to Lilly at ortur about the rotary and extension kit. so i figured id also ask about the possibility of a 20w optical coming iut soon and she said they had plans to release one this month
They told me that back in November, and December, and January Marty 🤪
Saw another RUclips on this new laser yesterday and the commentator had a problem with the stops on the Z1 so he mounted it on the Ortur LM3.
You have to move the limit switch.
Not sure why he didn't see that
Gotta read the directions! 🤪
Hello! 😊 So I have a problem and I didn’t know if I’d be able to find someone here that would have any ideas. I recently bought the comgrow 20W to fit my comgo Z1 laser. All of a sudden it just stopped cutting. It only cuts half way through my wood now leaving a lot of burnt edging. It’s a very new laser and I have three Christmas orders to still fulfill. The lenses are clean, the voltage is good. 🤷🏻♀️
Unplug all of the connections and then plug them back in April. Other than a dirty or damaged lens or focus problem, this would be the likely problem.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy the lens must be damaged then, cuz I’ve tried all the rest of that 😕 bummer. Thank you!
Take the module off and look at the lens April. There's likely a small round cloudy circle in the middle. That means the lens is toast. They're cheap enough on eBay and they screw right off.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy that is exactly what I see. Thank you so much for the help!
@9:20 Rich, I checked both the Atezr and Atomstack sites and the air assist I saw both said 30lpm... Am I missing something?
Well Eric, I'm not always right!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy no worries Rich. I did see an aquarium pump rated for 60lpm.. Not sure if that works or not..
Any of them will work Eric.
so i was watching a review on clack shack and he was saying that the laser head was to big to home and the thing on each side like the focus and air assist was in the way of the limit switches working correctly was this a problem with you? or does it work OK
No, you have to follow the directions. I adjusted the limit switch and bed size.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thanks i was wondering about the bed size also. looking forward to getting this upgrade.
How does it compare to the NEJE A40640?
It doesn't Ted. The A4060 is a dual diode, and this is a quad.
would like to see a test of optical power loss after running 100% for several hours test when new and test when 100 hrs
Me too Tyler! It ain't gonna happen though. China diodes come from *top secret* plants, and the white papers are on a need to know basis 🤪
_We apparently don't need to know!_
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy do you have the optical power tester?
Would like to see a optical power test from you on each machine hour 1 then hr 25 to see the quality and degradation between brands
No, I don't have the tester anymore. It stopped working and I can't afford another $3K for a replacement.
Is there a reason why this is not compatible with sculpfun s30?
It probably is. I can make it work on any diode laser.
Do you think it would work on the Longer Ray5?
👍👍👍👍👍
Nice
Thanks 🤗
can this also be installed on the neje max 3?
I would guess so. You just have to match the 2 data wires going to the laser. It's pretty much universal with all the different harnesses.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thank you :)
Looks like the same unit as the Lasertree 20w optical? Can anyone confirm? The LT one seems to be quite a bit cheaper at the moment
They all look similar.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Look a bit closer. I did, and the comgrow and laser tree are practically identical in material, features, finish and spec. Doesn't prove anything but I suspect they are both badging lasers from the same factory or at least the same reference design. They also use some identical stock brochure pictures in their sales pages
I haven't looked, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they're from the same factory.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy X1 and Atomstack were first I think, but there are others with different looking laser modules such as Neje and Longer. It's only the comgrow and the laser tree that look the same from what I've seen, which suggests these are 3rd gen copies of the pioneering designs, possibly from the same factory.. I'm just saying this in case it helps folks get the best bang for buck laser. I believe that's the laser tree, but I'll be able to let you know in about 2 weeks as I have one on order. It claims to have 0.08 sq spot size, so with the 20w opticial is a good balance between cutting power and engraving accuracy in theory
I highly doubt and 4 diode module will have a 0.08 spot size. Maybe on the X, but not on the Y, at least none that I know of. Most, if not all are going to come in at 0.08 x 0.1 to 0.18 or somewhere in between. With the exception of Roly Automation, they all exaggerate the spot size in their marketing. Neje and Atomstack are the only true manufacturers I know of. The rest buy white label modules from companies like Lasor or Donguan BlueUniverse.
I appreciate all your detailed reviews but: *At almost 500usd it does not worth it. You can make a 40w co2 small laser machine with that*
True, but some folks want upgrades, and this is the cheapest 20W.
36w...wow. maybe too much.
The benefit as I see it Merrill is the speed.
