I know that they have daily LAX-JFK and JFK-LAX services on a B747-400 (obviously not available for domestic travel) and I'm pretty sure that you can connect to AKL from LAX

Too bad you were sitting on the port side...you get an AMAZING view of the downtown skyline from less than 2,000 feet when seated on the starboard side.

Like any other megacity, it is.
If you want to move to an American city, I'd recommend that you check Salt Lake City. You'll be within a day's drive of the Pacific coast and within a half hour of the most premiere skiing in the world. Also, it's a young city (average age: 29 years) and is rated by Forbes magazine as one of the most business friendly cities in the world. I moved here from San Diego two years ago as California has too much taxes, regulations, and unemployment.

Firstly that comment was a year ago and secondly Qantas recently discontinued to AKL to LAX a few months ago.

Firstly Qantas doesn't fly A330 into LAX . And if you meant an A380 well this isn't one of them either. ???
