The wallpaper hanging from the ceiling is known as woodchip. There are tiny chips of wood between two slayers of paper. It was popular in the 1970s and isn't asbestos.

The holes punched in the floors and walls are just damage from copper thieves, they’re looking to chase pipes and get as much as they can

Copper teef's ain't been in there yet lad, all the floors and floorboards would have been ripped up cuz the plumbing is under there. You can see the radiator feeds drop straight down under the boards. And copper teef worth his salt would have had all them floors up and made a few thousand quid out of that place easily

Maybe the the last owners died and no family to be handed down ok and forgotten! Such a shame the people that enter these properties and steal smash things up and do so much damage it speeds up the decay! The holes in the walls is copper thief’s looking for copper pipes! I was talking to a friend about how these houses become abandoned, and he made a good point. it's not the house that is valuable it's the land its on that has the value and so will get brought and sold by investors who never do anything with them. Also, a way of avoiding tax or even laundering money

    • @cooperwilliams4686
      @cooperwilliams4686 4 года назад +2

Plus... Not many people own their house... Its normally the Bank that holds the deads so many get taken back by the banks but are in need of too much work to sell so they just rot away and the land is the asset.
Very often the tenants are made to leave when they can't keep up the morgage .
Then there are the hundreds of owners who pass away without a wil in place so if the property is paid for in full no one can take it.

You'd think that but that is not always the case.
I know of a property that was seized about 23 yrs ago by natwest bank and has been rotting away the hole time.
The morgage was 75 % paid off before the owner defaulted.
Thre was a legal battle that went on for yrs
So the bank have the money back and had no interest in selling the property as I fell I to disrepair.
It is now just one of Natwests many assets.

With many of these old abandoned properties, it does make you wonder why they're just left to rot, when at one point they'd have been expensive, luxury family homes. It's a real shame that this place is no longer loved, as it could be a lovely place to bring up your kids, there is so much space. By the look of the decor though, as well as the condition, I wouldn't be surprised if that place has be empty since the 80's.

my guess is someone is living in there and due to the size of the house could easily more around quietly in the dark to avoid been seen or heard untill they thought it was time for you to go.
Biggest clue was the 12p on the meter, unless they had £300 still left on it when they moved out which is unlikely and iam still scratching my head to why a big house like that would be on a pre pay but nevertheless that meter should of ran out a long time as just keeping that green light in the box screen costs pence per day.
I think someone was living in the loft and had to make a quick dash when you got the ladder and I wouldn't be surprised if the plugs up there were the only isolated switches left on to give the impression that there was no power.

Them swings were around in parks in England in 1979 they were really strong and they had plastic seats that were very strong and durable😊 the house looks like a 60s house 🏠 but I don't know -100% it's just a guess about the house and the surroundings

Oh my goodness this was a good find. The grounds are amazing with all the buildings. You do amuse me. There is no way I could have gone into that creepy house. Have been told the horse shoes above a door means good luck. The Those chains over the radiator are normally foe a fire place.house had some amazing features and the vandalism is never good.

Probably worth looking into the history of this house, perhaps you can figure out what happened there to some extend or why it was abandoned in the first place. Not sure if we have to speak about ghosts or anything, but it could be that someone decided to stay behind?

I had just started to explore that house and remember two guys voices upstairs, I quickly closed the door and got out of there.

As for the spookiness, lots of space in those windows and doors for feral cats to come in. They would have been lying low waiting for you to leave. Thought you had gone and made a move then freaked out when you came down the ladder again. Or plaster falling off the ceiling. Good fun none the less. Keep up the “not breaking into” these old places. I love it.

Such a travesty that people can leave these houses to rot and fall apart until they get to a point where the renovation costs become prohibitive to anyone ever taking them on. I have also noticed a tendency for those sitting on prime real estate to mysteriously catch fire so that the protected house is no longer a barrier to development on the land....! Or ensure the roof is not maintained so it literally rots to the ground as you mentioned...

I think this place was either a former psychiatric, sanatorium or children’s holiday home, the doors with viewing slits would point to people being locked up and watched if they became unruly, the swing, swimming pool and tennis courts for leisure and exercise, and wooden out buildings would be accommodation.

I agree with you I think it was an orphanage and I think some room was so little service door and service window was probably for medications. Bars on all of the windows and doors?? Something was going on in there. And all those places have a history of h horrible abuse

I've just woken up at 2 am after only a couple hours sleep. I fell asleep after watching this and it genuinely left me with a real spooked feeling. It did not interpret into my dreams well! The way I felt after waking made me realise the true meaning of spooked, why horses bolt when they are spooked, I can feel cold down my spine and its not going away.
There was something really freaky about that moment of things only occurring AFTER you had pulled the ladder up inside the house... If something had gone wrong you would have found it hard to escape. Dude that could be in a real haunting horror movie. I've still got chills on that now.

Cool house, sorry see it has been let go so much, surprised there was no basement.
We had a similar cinama room in our loft space when we were growing up. Entrance was via a ladder and building a staircase was always on the to do list. The cinema became redundant once a huge TV was bought but would not fit through the hatch. Eventually the hatch was moved, staircase constructed, windows put in and the loft space converted into bedrooms, parents sold the house a couple of years later.

Such a strange building. The layout doesn't look like it was a family home at the end of its life. All the bedrooms linked with doors, the door downstairs with the small raised window. Metal shutter bars on the inside of all doors and windows. Such a strange place.
