- This incredible building was once used as a Hotel, sady due to unforeseen Circumstances it was left for a length of time which led to the building falling Into a state of disrepair. Unbelievable the doors were left wide open, power still on with running water and thousands of pounds worth of very expensive items left behind! Please note the building is NOT abandoned and is now completely sealed now with residence and security living back on site. There Is a very sad story which led to this situation, but unfortunately the story would leak the location out…

This is what I imagine when I think of country properties in England. Intensely green gardens, dark, rich wood, Tudor beams, chintz, fireplace in every room. You are so, very lucky to be able to experience all this. Thank you for taking us along. As always, well done.✨

This is a beautiful place & clearly nobody is taking responsibility for seeing that it does not just rot away. Which is sad.
The fact all the dark wood has a shine and doesn’t show dust, surely means someone is visiting.
What an amazing place! Was surprised to see the new ish bmw at the end! A reg check shows the car is now displaying valid MOT, tax and insurance with no ownership change since 2016. I saw another comment suggesting it may have been stolen since filming but unless someone was silly enough to leave the slip with taxing details in the car I think it’s pretty unlikely and for a thief to keep the original plates on wouldn’t be the smartest. It was also only not MOT’d for under a year which makes me think someone is using it and returning to the property more regularly than you might think! Black cars not covered wouldn’t take too long to look like that! The grass also looked reasonably well maintained and if the heating is being left on low, it’s probably to try to prevent damp meaning someone cares enough for the property and pays for the bills.

I didn’t even watch 5 minutes of this before going to the description to find out what happened; the ground floor of the house is so beautiful inside, the woodwork unbelievable, and I couldn’t stand to see what wasn’t in good shape. This sort of thing really does pry into people’s pasts in a way that is often really a downer to see, for me, and such was the case with this house. I hope everything is better for the owners now and that nothing of value-sentimental or monetary-was taken by people much less honest than the owner of this channel, who would obviously never take a stick from the yard!

It amazes me how the power is sometimes left on in abandoned houses like this. A security measure perhaps. Someone must be paying the bill surely. What a great location, a time warp. It almost looks like the owners just walked out, for whatever reason. Everything has just been left behind. Absolutely incredible! This would be a squatters dream ! Thanks for this fantastic explore.

Thank you for showing this. This is the third time I’ve seen this place but you covered it better than the others. I had a dream about this property, though not the building, before I ever saw these and I love the land. The site had a thirteen century monastery on it and the current building appears to have been built on that foundation in about 1902, later converted to this hotel. There is a waterfall by or under the building and it flows to a lake and a mill. Wish I could see the mill.

My instinct tells me there is something very strange about that house. A huge investment to buy a place like that and then leave it to decay doesn’t make sense. The Land Registry should show who the current owners are. It needs saving before substantial damage is done to the building.

My friend looks after properties left to rot by Russian Millionaires. Apparently there are loads in Surrey and Sussex. Someone is clearly looking after this property. No dust on the furniture. Lighting on and grounds manicured?

I am very relieved to see in your written info that there is residency and security in place now. I have Never felt so bloody nervous watching one of your videos as I was with this! It was beautiful and incredibly deeply unnerving!! Before I'd realised it had been a hotel I imagined a member of staff appearing around a corner asking if they could help you! It was beyond creepy with all the lights left on, the lamps in particular that play such a part in the atmosphere and comfort of a room served here in the opposite. I didn't actually relax until the other guys turned up because Finally they were other humans there! The decay was unbelievable when so many rooms looked like you could just have a snooze and pop down for afternoon tea 😊 I loved all the mannequin parts, I have some in my house and garden!! What a magnificent, weird beautiful and unnerving place ❤️
So strange just abandoned like that although it did look like someone is looking after the grounds, and someone must be paying the electricity bill ?

Yeah, looking around the place, I had a feeling someone or people were living there, why else would the electric ⚡️ be on, there was food and snacks and, cleaning 🧹 stuff, some of the bathrooms 🚽 looked pretty clean 🧽.

That was such a weird thing to see … the outside being covered in ivy and looking old and the sofa mouldy then to come through into an area that looks like a perfect Manor House! Totally shocked me 🤣 xx

This may make me sound old and small minded, but I really appreciate that you are honest with your titles and explain this is derelict not abandoned; so people understand the situation at the house. I see so many videos which are cool, but people claiming that places are abandoned when they are not. If the power is on it sure aint abandoned as someone somewhere is paying the bills still. Nice one mate.

Shame there isn’t a way of contacting the owners somehow to see if they’re ok and find out what’s going on with everything?

Even if that place is one or two years abandoned, the lack of dust on anything in the house says to me someone recently had been caring for it. Plus did anyone notice all the empty artwork frames in the church?so random.
Since the found 2018 MOT, someone has clearly been having MOT's done and has been driving it, at least for a while. An MOT Pass on 3 June 2019, Mileage 25,609 miles, then a Pass on 26 June 2020, Mileage 28,482 miles, and then the latest pass on 11 May 2022, Mileage 28,503 miles.

Def think the owners use it as a private event space based off the industrial fire alarms and the types of plates/how it’s all stacked, etc. that’s how our old mansions look that we use for events. Good upkeep, hope they make it something.

This was a really bizarre but beautiful house/hotel. Having the power still on was maybe a way to keep people out but it must have been so expensive. The mannequins were truly bizarre and yucky scary. Why would they have so many mannequins and parts in the attic? and hanging from a light? Creeepyy!!!
Its like the people who owned this place just walked out the door into another life? Or ? Yet there was still food & drink in the frig, someone must have been squatting there at one time.
I truly have so much respect for how you all conduct yourselves when you "tour" these amazing places.

This place is beautiful! It's always creepy to see furniture covered in white sheets, I don't know why but it gives me the creeps. definitely looks like someone was shacking up in there & I know I would if I was homeless! I do hope they save all the beautiful furnishings!

The owners, or whoever is handling their financial affairs, clearly don't realise the speed at which empty properties in Britain get ruined by decay, vandalism, burst water pipes, etc. The house has done well to remain in such good shape for 3 years but regular viewers of these videos will know it's only going to get worse. Just sell it, now, for heavens sake! Great video as usual - thanks.
Surely they would know someone trusted who would jump at the chance to live in there in return for some fixing up and yardwork, keep the place active to keep the vandals and looters at bay. Yeah there's a lot of mould and water damage but there's gotta be sections of the place that are still perfectly liveable.

Thank you. Another beautiful place. Not a loft space above the staircase but an overpainted skylight. I'd live there now, mould or not I'm sure that script was indian. Turn the heating up full you'd s00n see who owned the place when they turn up to find out why their heating bill had skyrocketed!

Colin ,that BMW in the garage ,tax expires 1st of May 2023 and MOT expires 10th of May ,so it's road leagal,and it's only done 28503 miles 👍
There is no way that current MOT is legit! Must be on a ringer 🤔
Or someone’s stolen it since this vid went up, it’s only done 23 miles since it’s last mot in 2020 and mileage tally’s up with what Colin said.

A really strange place. looks way too good to have been abandoned for ages but yet has high levels of decay in parts. Lovely setting too, seems strange for it to go to waste. Guessing it's been a vcitim of the pandemic in that whoever owns it either couldn't get to it or no longer has the funds to do the required work.
The BMW had a fresh MOT at the beginning of May so guessing that since your visit it's been reclaimed.
