- The end of May is here, and most of the bass and crappie have finished their naughty fun and are off the beds, but there are still a few park ponds here in NJ that have a few bass on beds. One bass in particular becomes an extra special adversary.

I'm glad you prevailed and showed that bass who's the boss. I can't believe he bit three times!
Normally one hook in them is enough to shut down the bite. He had two, including one in his throat and he still bit a third time. I am a lucky guy. Or maybe he just wanted me to get that hook out of him and surrendered.

That's a cool red reel you have. What lure were you using... rubber worm? Nice dark largemouth at the 3:18 mark. Lots of solid bass... I will catch your dinks anyday. Great fishing and nice edit as always Dug!
The reel is a Kast King Sharky 3. I was using mostly ned rigs, a combination of the ZMan Hogz, The ZMan Crawz and the Missile Baits Ned Bomb.
Them fish were swimming away real fast when they seen Doug showing up! Man you were rocking them fish!! Pretty cool fishing trip!! That snake there at the last was playing dead for a second. Keep rocking them fishing videos! Take care and be safe out there Doug!🎣👍🏼💯💯💯

Awesome catches Dug! I know the big fish haven't came this year for you but you still catch some solid ones. I think everyone struggles from time to time. So sweet to hook into that fish again to get your hook back. I like small ponds like that. Always feeling good afterwards cause you're almost guaranteed a fish. 🙌👊
When the big fish haven't come, a lot of smaller fish sure feel nice. Like I know what I am doing.

9 fish is a great day on the water. They can't all be hawgs. When you do catch a big one, it makes that day more memorable. Tight lines brother!

Dug, it's too funny that the same one bit a couple of times! Maybe nothing big, but at least you got some other ones. I'm not a big fan of tournaments, they do a lot of damage. Well said, "You ain't gonna catch them if you ain't fishing." Bravo Eagle Scout! Bam!!!

Its so small and so shallow, I wonder how the fish make it through the winter with the ice.
You're not catching if you're not fishing. Fun times rounding up those guys. I'm sure the lack of bigger fish has something to do with the bucket fishermen and more fishing pressure. I've seen that up here as well. Nice outing D!
The bucket brigade is definitely a factor. I have also had at least one favorite spot drained a year for the past few years. Recovery takes a while. I have some big trips coming, hopefully I find some size out on the boat. Heading up to go near the St Lawrance in a few weeks.
The challenges of fishing the small bodies of water. It sucks. Bet you're exited to go on that road trip. Fun trying out new waters.

You live on the equator. 😜 The spawn is JUST about over, but I could probably find a fry guarder or two, but I leave them alone.

Lower Passaic county is a tough place to find clean and unabused waters, for sure.

Sunday me and my brother went around the Haledon reservoir that is now owned by franklin lakes, Man O man I kid you not bucket rapers all over and so many people fishing every place possible it was like a blue light special at Kmart back in the 80's!!! we could not believe it!
@@PHFishingBiking I believe it! First time I hiked around it I was totally interested in coming back in the spring. The second time I figured out quick that that place was a bucket brigade HQ.
@@DpuckFishingandOutdoors it's a shame it used to be so good when we were kids crystal clear seen big bass and pickerel all just sitting around the edge of the waters, used to get 16+ in bass all day even 20+ I got almost a 7Lb one there and pickerels 28 and over 30" all the time now it's a DUMP!

I was fishing the final days of the bass spawning season. One bass bit my bait and broke the line twice before I finally caught him. I was able to get the second hook out of his throat.
