  • WACKY Rigging around the SPAWN (Where, When & Why) - It's that time of year again when the bass are looking to move on to beds and start spawning. The wacky rig can be a big time bait this time of year. In this video, we walk through why I like it and also, break down where bass spawn throughout the spring time. Thanks for riding along!

I watched you live last year at Lay Lake, and the absolute giant you caught on the whacky......I was inspired by that and this March was epic for me thanks to you instilling me with confidence. John Cox and Brandon Cobb also helped drive the point home. Good luck in Florida brother!

This is absolutely true , i found a spawning flat 3 days ago in super shallow water loaded with hydrilla , was hard to fish bcus of getting so much muck and grass on the hook but a wacky rigged senko was all they would bite and they bit it well , i caught several 5's ,a 7 and an 8 along with some guarders', was an epic day bcus of the wacky rig, that i have not had that much success on in the past , Thanks for giving up the goods.

I would actually like to see a good study of tagged bass to see their behavior during the spawning season.
I agree I don’t think they all come up and spawn at the same time. I also don’t think they all spawn shallow. I believe the the large females spawn as deep as they can. They don’t get big for no reason. They get big because they outsmart fishermen and other wildlife.
All this new technology seems to be proving that bass spawn deeper than previously thought.
It would be interesting to see just how early and in what water temps they will begin their spawning process.

Do you shake your rod all the time if your dinger is not weighed. If not how do you fish it in weighted

Seems like you have to weight the dingers. They just dont fall like a senko. They last alot longer though

How many bedding bass are you going to disturb there spawning process by fishing like this, all the fish in the lake that aren’t bedding and you have to go bother the easiest bedding bass. I don’t call that a professional way to take care of our future bass for our kids and grandkids. How many jaws do you ripe open and wander if they have a successful spawn after you jack there jaw. Reel disappointed in you. And all the rest of you guys who bother the bass on there spawn. That’s why I in subscribed your channel. And I’ll be giving you a thumbs down. I’m 69 years old and we used to catch 50 bass a day 50 years ago, and we never fished for them on beds. You just going for the easy ones. I’m praying for your kind! It’s beyond me to get you to think about the health of the bass spawning? Keep the faith! 🥸🙏👎

Word of advice, never make statements that you can’t back with facts. There’s been many studies done over the years in multiple states proving that catching bass during the spawn has had zero effect on bass populations. Even with all the technology, increased fishing pressure and tournament fishing, bass populations thrive and growing in many states. O, that reminds me, I’ve got to get my WACKY rod ready, 👍
