    Have had the shoes for a season and a half. Play two time a week 72 holes (4 round of 18). They have held up fairly well. They should last half a season more. Version 2 has address this with a harder compound for the a sole (they are trying to find the sweat spot for grip and durability). The fit is very comfortable… and waterproof. The sole flex and toe drag is next level. The best part of the company are Craig and Rosie… Rosie’s customer service is what you always hope for when you run into issues.. she has been very helpful when there was a mixup on my order. She would provide regular updates and very responsive to all my questions . I hope Craig and Rosie continues to be successful years to come.

    I'm hoping in the next 5-10 years, companies start to develop a line of disc golf shoes or at least a line of hiking shoes with flexibility and lateral movements in mind. All the options we have now are pretty good, but things could be a lot better. Kudos to Idio for taking that leap for us. Can't wait to see a gen2 shoe in the coming years.

      Have you checked out Hoka Arkalis? Or Mammut and Salewa? I've bought several Arkalis from Hoka and as of now, they are my shoe of choice for disc golf. The other two companies have a nice selection to choose from, but they're full on approach shoes and require some break in. I'm still checking out other models from these companies, but they are solid shoes. Five-Tens are great, but since Adidas bought them. It's hard to find them with their Stealth rubber and those soles are hands down the best I've ever had.

    There aren't actually the first disc golf shoes.... Bite, keen, and latitude have all had a run at it. And the first two were actually great shoes. They were just ahead of their time. I'd love to see them try it again, as I had both the keens and the bites and had no complaints. Ask Uncle Ken, he wore the bites for years!!!!

    zero drop shoes are going to become the norm in disc golf. There is no need for an elevated heel. Does not mean there can't be cushioning (like those foot mittens Eagle wears), just means they are the same height/amount of cushion all the way from toe to heel. Just got the Altra Superiors and they are fantastic. Tried Adidas but mostly been a Salomon loyalist for years, not going back.

    As someone who has watched a lot of sneaker reviews, this was very well-executed. Definitely going to be hard to get breathability since it's waterproof, but maybe a lighter colorway that traps less heat would help. And as someone who doesn't have to worry about hiking here in Dallas, these might be a great option

  • @chainraiderdiscgolf
    @chainraiderdiscgolf 2 года назад

    Great to see a company centered around disc golf! I'm actually in the market for a new pair of disc golf shoes and I think I might give them a try. I presently have two pairs that I chose from depending on weather conditions. Sucks that the trade off for waterproof is that your feet don't have the breathability. At the same time, dry feet out weight wet feet ESPECIALLY in cooler temperatures.

    I find delamination of the outer sole can be a big issue with a lot of 2-ply shoes. Went through 2 pair of running shoes because of that. Found my hiking shoes (topo athletic mt-2) worked great until they didn't. Crushed the cushioning and all the hills/hiking I was doing did a number on my knees and hips. I switched to straight up walking shoes like an elder fella, new balance 877 v1, is working well. Not the best for grip on loose dirt like the side of a creek but works well on the tee pad. Cushioned, flat bottoms and a uniform grip pattern that allows for better pivot of my planting foot which is a huge issue for me. Might be worth a shot for someone.

    My favorite shoes for disc golf are Barefoot shoes. I wear Xero shoes. Ive worn Terrex, Merrel, Keens, and suprisingly the barefoots have held up the longest. I think its due to the flexibility of the materials. I have a pair I've had for over a year playing at least 3x a week and they are still holding up great.

    How about including a diagram of how they are constructed, what material, sewn or glued, and where they are made and by whom.
    Perform some sort of water tightness test.
    And what colors do they come in?
    Personally, I don't like black shoes. I know I know, "black" is the current fad but I've never been one to follow fads or trends.
    On a warm-hot day, in the high desert, black is absorbing heat not repelling it. I don't like hot feet. They tend to sweat.
    However on a cold winter day with 6-8" of snow, I hope that they don't leak.

    I think that the Idio shoes are a great jump off for people to make footwear designed for Disc Golf. I must say I do prefer Adidas Skychasers over any other shoe I have worm thus far. Not water proof but as far as comfort and price I think they check all the boxes(for me anyway). Idio is solid but for the price, there are a lot of options in the $120/$130 class of shoe. Look at what most of the pros wear. There is a reason most are wearing the same.. er... near same shoes.
