Very interesting comparison and great editing as well. We're glad you liked the Bohrium disc, and that you got to try for yourself how it glides on low lines :)
I’ve got a mate who throws the rask. It’s not for proper 14 speed drives, but instead for really hilariously awesome forced anny shots. That thing will fight out of ANYTHING. He throws it on these berserk annies that are sharper than a normal roller shot would be, and that thing just battles it’s way out of it with plenty of time to orient itself to tombstone. It’s a crazy disc, but if you work it out it can be a bit of a beast.
The rask has recently made my bag. I had wanted to try it out for a while but it was just so overstable. Kastaplast has released a newer version of the Rask called the "Z-Line version" and its the max distnace rask everyone needs in my opinion because it isn't quite as overstable. If you get the change I'd highly suggest testing one out and even comparing the two versions of the Rask together to see the differences
This 👆. Try out the Z-Line Rask or the Luke Samson Team Series Rask that seems to be the same disc. You get all the pros you lined up but without the excessive beef. Think of it like a "throwable" Rask :) . It flies kind of like a beat in "normal" Rask.
Rask flight numbers 14, 3, 0, 4. Rask-Z 14, 3 ,-1, 3 I've just picked up a Z as I found it on sale. I haven't had the chance to throw it in anger yet due to a chain of storms but I'm really liking the feel of it in my hand.
I actually bought it when I first started playing (genius) but after about two years I can actually throw it pretty well. It obviously beat in a little now so it isn't as fast, but it is dead straight.
Just an FYI, dimple technology was actually older than Lat64 Missilen. Gateway toyed with the idea with a few of their molds including the Diablo DT back in the mid 2000s. Great video as always!
Love what you do! I’ve been involved in discgolf long enough to tried the first Brittish brand DiscWing, they actually had a mold called Quarter K, that also had a rounded ”inside rim edge.” So Loft was not first, but discwing was a bit before it’s time and do not longer exist. Try out blunt blow fly, and old school dolphin or ”10 meter brick” for odd design. Also first molds of Latitude64 had uniqe design with a ”power dome” on top for best glide. They had a special sound when they hit the ground so you could here on the sound what Disc it was that landed. Love from Sweden, keep on the good work!
Quarter K was so soft the discs on hard ground would begin to deform. Disc Wing had another mold like the Quarter K and then Quarter K II that was the Quater K in same plastic but by the time these came out the company was no longer making discs due to nobody buying the discs. One of the shortest lived companies to make PDGA approved discs at only 2 years as a company. 10 meter Brick they all shattered over time due to how fragile/brittle the plastic was that started at max flex to only become stiffer over time. The later new quest company started in 2013 ones were from what I saw on Amazon in 2015 were softer the the Gumputt models or Blowfly/Blowfly two one brands discs in a Z/Champion plastic, all other discs were normal plastic. They were made in Rockford Illinois until 2016/2017 when they started up again in 2013/2014. The Seller for the new Quest discs on Amazon claimed in lower description the discs were the exact old molds somebody found in the Dumpster of Gateway, the old company after they went under in 2009 or 2010 they first Quest company from St Louis area dumped the molds to Gateway in 2012 who had no use for them with Quest making a mold for Gateway that Gateway was pissed about the quality with the Diablo. The pictures of the discs looked like most molds had as much flashing as Innova could in some runs from 2011 until 2017 up to 1/2 inch/1 cm flashing. Of the Quest molds the Quest T-Bone in the new plastic is the One needed to be tried similar disc to the Gateway Diablo but smaller mold. The DGA Blow Fly and 2 as well as the Gumputt Driver and regular, regular was called Blunt in 2000's are some of the softest discs besides this new brand making silicon plastic PDG approved discs that are some of the softest molds besides the DGA Steady signature series. Funny story is the PDGA would have been DGA if it were not for Ed Hendrick who was making the Mach I/1.5 but none of its own discs was getting his company name DGA registered at about the same time that the PDGA was making its own mold.
@@caseysmith544 Thank´s for sharing, I have owned all the disc but sad to say that I lost them over time, al but the 10 meter brick, but i have not used it so still unshatterd for me!
Another Kastaplast disc you should have a look at is the berg. It’s an awesome putter with a super thick rim, groove on the edge of the plate, and grabs the ground like nothing else. And it has a total cult following - this disc is legit.
Nice, 2 discs from Swedish brands (Latitude 64 and Kastaplast) and one from a Danish (Løft). Didn't know you could get hold of all of them over there. Great video.
The Quarter k was an amazing disc back in the day. Plastic felt great in hand but beat up fast. It had a smooth under rim. The Quest AT I think it was called was literally covered in golf ball dimples. It was like 05 there was a big rush of gimmicky type discs.
The Quarter K II (NOT Quarter K mark I) from Discwing had are design very similar to Bohrium. It is easily the farthest flying disc in my bag. You do sacrifice a fair amount of precision for that distance. It is inevitably the case and the Bohrium will have the same trade off. Can't wait to try it out 😁
Yes!! The quarter k was a great disc and the man who invented it has the only PHD in flightology? Its bullit rim was way ahead of its time and only failed due to its plastic not being able to withstand tree love. Very comfortable disc to throw.
If you do a sequel, you NEED to check out the NSH Borg. It's meant to be thrown upside-down and every disc is custom 3D printed. Sounds like something right up your alley.
Lots of pretty cool discs and disc prototypes out there. Some of my all-time favorites were Virbram's spiral raised groove and engraved groove drivers. Crazy design.
Not sure if someone has mentioned this but Gateway/Quest created the first Dimpled discs. I.e. the Diablo DT, etc. There are multiple molds with their dimple tech. I would love to see more videos in this series. Especially since Dave Mac over at gateway is always experimenting with innovation etc.
A friend of mine and I went in together on supporting the Bohrium and I can't wait for it to arrive! It'll easily be the fastest disc I own, and even if I can't throw it right away, it'll give me some real motivation to improve my form and power so that I can use it!
Take you for another amazing video. Looking forward to your collaboration with Robbie see you today hopefully you didn’t get any tornadoes! I would love to see more of these videos thank you for all the great work.
I like what Loft Discs is bringing to the disc golf world. Reinventing the design and concept of a disc to maximize stability, grip, comfortability, distance. Once you get a feel for the disc, they work wonders. I've got the Hydrogen (putter) and Bohrium. Can't wait for the Silicon (midrange) to be delivered. Also the doubled rim disc was unique. Kinda like a turbo putter.
Wow, great video. I bet it took a lot of time to make this. I really enjoyed the content of this video. I do not have the arm speed or the money to go testing these so having disc golfer and content creator do videos on these is a great resource to have around ;)
Great stuff. I have been spending time shaping an old champion boss. Looking forward to the snow melting to give it a toss. Using what I have learned here. Really great stuff.
I found a Missilen in the used bin a couple of years ago. Picked it up for the unique design, keep it in the bag for when I am throwing into heavy wind and need it to hold a hyzer since I can't get it anywhere near 15 speed.
If u get the possibility, I'd recommend you to try the glow rask. At least the 2021 version is almost understable at high speed and beefidy beef in the end. U'll very wide S-curves and quite a lot of distance.
The Monarch/Groove should be mentioned as having a unique rim. I'd certainly be interested in learning how that affects flight shape. I'd also be interested to know how much correlation there is with the glide/lift of a disc increasing understability.
@H K I wasn't attempting to correlate the rim shape of the Monarch/Groove to stability. I was commenting on the unique rim of the Monarch/Groove while also independently pondering if the glide/lift of a disc has a tremendous correlation to stability. I would hypothesize, though, that an increase in lift decreases the stability of a disc.
I always keep a groove in my bag. I don't have another disc that I can flip over easily but still have a really heavy fade as soon as it slows down. And it ALWAYS skips on the ground, which is a nice reliable trick for some shots.
Monarch is the one that needs to be tested if still in production. The Grove in Champion is an unpredictable disc so much they are still running on old discs in the warehouse from 2014 or so, they each fly very very off in flight like one will be Destroyer in flight then another will be like an Archon or new Wahoo in flight from the people I have talked with in person about the mold.
@@caseysmith544 I've heard this for years but every Groove I've had (five over the last decade) has flown exactly the same except for when they get neat in and become more Flippy. 5/5 disc that all fly the same and nobody who I've ever heard that same story from has never actually used a Groove. I golf with another person who has also been throwing Grooves regularly for as long as I'm have and he agrees with me. I personally think that the "unreliability" is actually a variance in the technique, not the disc.
@@jawaring4367 I picked up two Champion Groves in 2014 and one had the Grove size grove in the discs wing with the other having the Monarch size grove in the mold, tell me those two discs would not fly the same. Also, you said after the mold wears in after a bit they do not fly the same like the initial break in, there in lies the problem of your problem of the mold becoming this unreliable flippy disc. Even the Valkyrie Or Road Runner dose not do this in better plastics nor does other US Innova Discs, they tend to wear in with a slower pattern. Oh, stay away from the Champion Archon unless you want a disc with 0 or lower glide. This is common with the Champion Archon I got in 2019, it had a dome to flat section in the middle that is common with the mold. The Star does not have this issue with the plastic as much and feels like a faster Valkyrie.
Yes! More breakdowns of discs attempting to be innovative!.. I really want to see someone re-tool the turbo-putt to be legal. If I could design it, it would have a raised "second rim" like the rask, but only about the size of a quarter in the center of the disc. I don't think the handle-like outer rim would be legal, but there's gotta be another easy way to get good grip, like the golf-ball dimples or something. Turbo putting is a gem in the rough, in my opinion. :)
i picked up a Rask this winter after finding it all by its lonesome at my local disc shop. super excited to try it out on some forehand flex lines and overhead tomahawks. i've never even thrown it and wish i had a second one. the grip feels phenomenal. give a shout if you want to get rid of yours haha
I use Rask as a forehand disc. The extra rim gives you solid purchase with the fingers inside the rim. And the stability makes it hard to turn over accidentally.
I had a disc I bought around 1995 or 96 that had dimples on the top to about 2 inches from the edge thought it was a Gateway or Discraft but can't remember and it is unfortunately lost somewhere in AZ, loved they flight of it and my old SR71 from Lightening, wish I knew the flight numbers of both. Great content, keep up the good work.
This video was great, just simply great. Love how this channel is growing and evolving. It inspires me to try and create new things, be a better person and strive for greater good, thank you! =)
Thank you for this review (and all your videos). If you want some more strange discs to review, try Ching's old lineup. The Juju/Mojo (putter), Oracle (mid), and Velocity (driver) have some very interesting innovations/features that I think you will enjoy playing with and showing the world. They called it their "excelerator contours" technology.
On a side note. What function does a beanie like yours fill? I've always wondered. I always freeze my ears off if I don't cover them with my beanie, so why use one that only covers the scalp?
You should test out some of the NSH discs like the Borg they have some that are meant to be thrown upside down and other very unique discs that I’d love to see!
I like this video series a lot. That Rask is weird. If you do a midrange version of this video, you should look into the Storm Discs Wall Cloud. It has a double bead.
I'd like to see something about all discs with dimples and compare them. Answer the question ...Does where they add the dimples affect how it flies and if so in what way. I used a lot of Quest AT with dimples...liked the flight, not the plastic , nor the learning curve to toss them.
The missilen is one of my favorite discs to throw and I’m a noob I generally don’t throw past 11 speeds but for some reason I love to rip on the missilen It was one of the first discs I hit 325 with for the first time
Just the discs I expected to see. Could have added Epic on the list. Someone already mentioned Discwing's Quarter K. They did the rounded rim disc in 2005. Some liked, but most didn't like it. Those are still being sold at least in Ebay. I don't mind that Bohrium tried it again, but I don't like it being advertised as unique or something that has not been done before. Prodigy made M5 with two rims probably close to 10 years ago. Those rims were very close to each other though and not like Rask has. I think the purpose of it was the same. Understable midrange that feels in a way like a faster disc because it has a thicker rim. That was a bit odd disc as well and didn't sell well. What is common with experimental discs? Low sales. It is still nice to see new attempts to reinvent modern disc. I am sure there will be some that breaks through. It has happened in all sports. Sometimes it can take a long time. Clapper skates in speed skating were patented in 1894 and re-invented in 1979-1980 and despite with clear benefits and scientific proves it broke through in late 1990's. Now you can't be on top without those.
I have the Discwing QK in Streamline plastic, which is an 11-speed with rounded rim. Not thrown it yet but it will during this spring. So no Løft was not first with rounded rim =)
I truly believe that MVPs overmold tech+Lofts rounded rim would make for the perfect combination. The overmold atleast on paper moves weight out to the edge of the disc, making discs more stable without being overstable, and that allows for a more understable wing design without the requirement for extreme RPMs and thus a straighter longer flight. Atleast in theory :D
The Rask is the perfect utility / get out of jail disc. I also agree, please please Test the Rask Z (or Luke Sampson Tour Series Rask), it's sooo good.
Kastaplast made a run of flippy Rasks. If you can pick up one of the Luke Samson, or Rask Zs, then you'll be crushing them without any issues. My distance crushing friend gets a standard Rask to flip up, and the flight is completely unique. It goes straight or flipped over for forever, and then suddenly drops from the sky with the hardest fade.
Yes, Gateway was the first and I should have mentioned that! I didn’t mean to suggest Latitude did it first, though my words clearly sounded like that.
Kastaplast in their own flight charts says the Rask only flies similar distances to their 9 speed discs. It's more for strong headwind and shots where you need a strong left finish
I've always wondered how a disc with an inside rim would feel with a melted in cross hatch pattern for extra grip (or anything extra, could just be random raised letters). I'm curious if something like this with a rounded rim like Bohrium's would give you a little more grip and make it feel more comfortable.
There is a disc with golf ball-like dimples that made it out in the world called the T-Bone from Quest. Would a dome underneath improve the turbulence of the disc, like just a channel for fingers?
I got a rask because I wanted an ultra beefy utility disc for scrambles or super low flare skip shots. but the rask I got is not beefy at all. i don't really have a big arm either, i think i top out just shy of 400 ft, and it goes laser straight for a good bit before fading. was slightly disappointing because it was not doing what i wanted to do but it's staying in the bag for a while...
I have a Rask I use for overstable forehands and I won a Loft Bohrium in a draw but haven't tried it yet, the rounded rim and shallow feel scare me in the winter!
*Rask thrower* You mentioned the Rask gives you a 14 speed with a smaller rim comparatively. Do you know what the rim size is on the Borhhum? I'd also wonder if the "innovations" make the disc better or worse as they beat in compared to new.
The Bohrium’s rim is 2.5cm - that said, the measurement is from the inside to outside, but doesn’t account for feel due to the gradual rounding on the rim. I’d say it also feels more like an 11 speed 👍
I wasn't able to get one in time, but should have mentioned it.. It wasn't my intent to make it sound like Latitude did it first, though my words communicated that. Apologies!
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf actually I dunno if I could part with them... lol, but Marshall Street and Infinite discs both have T-Bones with dimples right now for 10 bucks. The plastic is stiff but durable and grippy. You might even love the disc(I do), and maybe it'll give you new plastic ideas. It's unlike any plastic I've ever seen a disc made of.
Interesting content. Just a quick note on video editing: don't gray out the entire area of the screen for your pro/con list. Leave the center of the screen normal so that we can actually see your face. Otherwise it feels like my laptop is running out of battery and auto-dimming.
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf saw one of these in a used bin a while back, either a misselin or a raketen but it looked very odd and had a small portion on the flight plate with no hexagons so you could put your thumb on it
The Quest Defender has a dimpled rim top and bottom and has perhaps the most generous/hilarious flight numbers i've ever seen coming in at 11 14 (yes 14) 0 4 i'm gonna say the glide and stability are just a tad bit off based on how mine flies
What about the best chance to get innovative…Halo Polecat?
Just get a local dyer to do a halo dye on your existing polecats man. Boo ya!!. Props from canada

Man, I am pumped to get my Bohriums now! Buying stuff on Kickstarter is fun in itself and now I can't wait to give them a try!
Great loved this need a future trash panda innovative fairway driver !
Great stuff pandaman!
Love this video. Thanks for making it
I wonder if you've already done a review on the Aerobie Epic. If not, I'd love to hear your take on it!
This video was great, just simply great. Love how this channel is growing and evolving. It inspires me to try and create new things, be a better person and strive for greater good, thank you! =)
Thanks Wilhelm!
Thank you for this review (and all your videos). If you want some more strange discs to review, try Ching's old lineup. The Juju/Mojo (putter), Oracle (mid), and Velocity (driver) have some very interesting innovations/features that I think you will enjoy playing with and showing the world. They called it their "excelerator contours" technology.
brb.. researching!!
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf I sent an email to your info with some more details.
On a side note. What function does a beanie like yours fill? I've always wondered. I always freeze my ears off if I don't cover them with my beanie, so why use one that only covers the scalp?
Absolutely amazing video as always
You should test out some of the NSH discs like the Borg they have some that are meant to be thrown upside down and other very unique discs that I’d love to see!
Great suggestion!
The rask is goated for forehand
Definitely enjoyed the content and want more
Great video! I would recommend putting a radar speed gun on all your test discs to see if they really do go faster
U should do a video on over-stable drivers like:
Discmainia Tilt
Discraft captains raptor
Nsh Borg
100% though we were getting an aerobie epic video
I like this video series a lot. That Rask is weird. If you do a midrange version of this video, you should look into the Storm Discs Wall Cloud. It has a double bead.
Gateway discs tried the golf ball dimples in mid to late 2000s. It was on the diablo mold.
I'd like to see something about all discs with dimples and compare them. Answer the question ...Does where they add the dimples affect how it flies and if so in what way. I used a lot of Quest AT with dimples...liked the flight, not the plastic , nor the learning curve to toss them.
The missilen is one of my favorite discs to throw and I’m a noob
I generally don’t throw past 11 speeds but for some reason I love to rip on the missilen
It was one of the first discs I hit 325 with for the first time
Just the discs I expected to see.
I would love to see you evaluate the “wheel” absolutely ridiculous, actually decent air upshot disc that will stick to the ground
Rask is the best scramble disc out there, perfect for thumbers
I have the Discwing QK in Streamline plastic, which is an 11-speed with rounded rim. Not thrown it yet but it will during this spring. So no Løft was not first with rounded rim =)
I forgot all about the missilen. I used to bag one back when they first came out
I truly believe that MVPs overmold tech+Lofts rounded rim would make for the perfect combination.
Crazy to see footage from Westcreek on your channel
So weird to see you playing my home course. Westcreek is really good for testing out drivers though 😂
Super interesting!
Hey Jesse - I could be wrong but I think Gateway's Diablo was the 1st disc to put golf dimples on the rim of the disc.
The innova sonic is a putt an approach disc with a really weird rim. You should do one of these videos on it!
Two discs from Sweden and one from Denmark. Scandinavia represent! Greetings from Sweden... 🇸🇪🇸🇪
👏👏👏
I've always wondered how a disc with an inside rim would feel with a melted in cross hatch pattern for extra grip (or anything extra, could just be random raised letters). I'm curious if something like this with a rounded rim like Bohrium's would give you a little more grip and make it feel more comfortable.
There is a disc with golf ball-like dimples that made it out in the world called the T-Bone from Quest. Would a dome underneath improve the turbulence of the disc, like just a channel for fingers?
You need to get your hands on a prodigy m5, it has a really funky double rim also!
Do you think you can 3d print a mid with the double rim?
Thanks for the content!
I believe Gateway and Quest were first to play with the idea of dimples on a few disc.
I cried when I lost my last Diablo DT...
Love it! I want more.
You should 100% do more of these do fairways mid and putters
I got a rask because I wanted an ultra beefy utility disc for scrambles or super low flare skip shots. but the rask I got is not beefy at all. i don't really have a big arm either, i think i top out just shy of 400 ft, and it goes laser straight for a good bit before fading. was slightly disappointing because it was not doing what i wanted to do but it's staying in the bag for a while...
I have a Rask I use for overstable forehands and I won a Loft Bohrium in a draw but haven't tried it yet, the rounded rim and shallow feel scare me in the winter!
Give it 10 throws and you may feel otherwise! 😉
Good video! You might want to mention you being above 5000 feet when you talk about stability.
Love it Jesse!
Thoughts on the westide adder
Try the Rask Z-Version / Luke Sampson tour series. It was retooled to have a small high speed turn. You might really enjoy it
Not retooled, just different settings in the injection process. :)
To be fair... if you're going to talk about dimples in discs, you kind of gotta talk about Gateway/Quest. They did it way before Lat64.
I wasn't able to get one in time, but should have mentioned it.. It wasn't my intent to make it sound like Latitude did it first, though my words communicated that. Apologies!
@@TrashPandaDiscGolf should have asked me, I got a bunch! 😁
@@JesseJ588 would still love to try one out if you're open to it!
I have a Gold hex, its insane once you get the hang if it
Interesting content. Just a quick note on video editing: don't gray out the entire area of the screen for your pro/con list. Leave the center of the screen normal so that we can actually see your face. Otherwise it feels like my laptop is running out of battery and auto-dimming.
I'm wondering if the borium is good for forehand?
I want more white and black flighttowels!
Will see on Friday when my Loft disc arrives…
Can’t wait to get my founders edition bohriums
Test the Quest At Lineup including the turbo putt(even though it's an illegal disc)
Look into the Quarter K. The first disc with a rounded rim. Amazing mold, crap plastic.
So when's trash pandas version of the loft coming out? 👀
Have you tried the Latitude 64 Raketen? Same dimples and speed, but somewhat understable.
Not yet! Still a whopping 15 speed though 🤯
Love these emojis on the pro con
Is the the course you were testing the discs at in CO? Which one?
Yep! Westcreek 👍
