Mechanical Animals takes me right back to High School. I was 15 and obsessed with Marilyn Manson. So much nostalgia in this album. I think I appreciate this album even more now, than I did when it was released. Manson was always ahead of his time. I think Marilyn Manson is one of the most misunderstood artists in the industry. People have a really hard time separating his stage persona from the actual person. He's incredibly intelligent, eloquent, and profound. He is a true artist, not just a musician.
Marilyn Manson - Irresponsible Hate Anthem. From Antichrist Superstar , heavy AF and guaranteed to start a conversation. Angel with Scabbed Wings if good if you want headbanging whiplash.
I agree! Irresponsible Hate Anthem is unreal good musically, and incredibly interesting! So many phenomenal lines, especially the middle fingers part, just cuz it’s so basic, and put an incredible turn of phrase on it! Such a fantastic song to launch one of the most incredible albums ever made!
"Mechanical Animals" was so different from "Antichrist Superstar" but I personally love it! The alien alter ego, Omega, is definitely an homage to David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust. Manson is so intelligent and talented, it blows my mind! My favorite song on that album is "Speed of Pain", which sounds heavily influenced by Pink Floyd. And I love me some Pink Floyd!! I have been a HUGE fan of Manson's since 1995. My one enormous regret is not meeting him when I had the opportunity. It was a couple months before Antichrist came out and he was still performing at smaller venues. I was handed a backstage pass and stupidly didn't use it to meet him....and that was something I never did. I met bands every chance I got, so that is why I am kicking myself to this day for not meeting Manson....
In the video, that's an alter of Manson's, Omega. And his band The Mechnical Animals. There's a whole backstory to him which is very fascinating....I know a bit about Manson...😁
Morning guys! I love this song! I remember at a concert where the smashing pumpkins played billy Corgan announced they had a special guest and it was Marilyn Manson! He came out pretty much wearing the same outfit he has on here with the boots and sequin suit and started making out with Billy on stage. It lol. They played "the beautiful people" and turned all the lights onto the audience it was a trippy mood in the audience,I can't explain it lol! Great performance and show back then. I think it was 1997! Good choice guys!🤓❤️
I saw Manson from the first row about 20 years ago. I am 58 now so didn’t really know much about him. Was blown away. I didn’t know who the guitarist was but was blown away by him as well. It was John 5
This was the first I saw Marilyn Manson on MTV - as a little kid I didn’t have cable. I loved the “f-u, taboo is bs” attitude. He was against the Pearl clutchers. The Holier Than Thou
This is cool you guys reacting to Marilyn Manson, this album is a banger, Mechanical Animals, i'm in a Marilyn Manson vibe the last couple of weeks. Here's some songs you guys haven't done yet, Long Hard Road Out Of Hell (the video is amazing), Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge, Tourniquet, Man That You Fear, Heart Shape Glasses, If I Was Your Vampire, Disposable Teens, Don't Chase The Dead, The Nobodies, The Last Day On Earth, Great Big White World, Dope Hat, Get Your Gunn, Mobscene, This Is The New Shit, (s)Aint, Leave A Scar, Into The Fire, The Mephistopheles Of Los Angeles, Deep Six.
Damn Hollywood! Lol! Had to take out my headphones for that "you got it my friend!" Lmao. I wish I could be there on the Tues live! Will be soon when I switch jobs! Yay!!
This album was a split between the masculine and feminine. Alpha and Omega. It’s a great album I’ve listened to hundreds of times on CD. I almost got to see John 5 on this tour but it was cancelled because of a snow storm.
Man I love the Mechanical Animals album from MM! It was such an extreme right turn from Antichrist Superstar. I feel like his alter ego, Omega, from this album was definitely an homage to Ziggy Stardust.
Yeah, I have no idea what interview it was but I definitely remember him saying he was inspired by Bowie among others. Mechanical Animals is my favorite Manson album for sure. And like you said, after Antichrist Superstar it was such a wild 180 (but I love both!)
Mechanical Animals was a concept album. MM was an alien that was captured and forced to become a rock god. That is why he has boobs and is androgynous.
That beat is HARD. The live version of the dope show is so awesome that little guitar Rift that plays in the background when they start singing the refrain the former lead guitarist John 5 would go crazy it was great
Manson has some really good songs. Wight spider, slo-mo-tion, angel with scabbed wings, long hard road out of hell, Antichrist Superstar (a must see) the list keeps going. A rabbit hole worth checking out! First time I seen him was in 1995 at a hole in the wall named Ziggys, which always had the best shows. It was Marilyn Manson and the freakshow. It scared the shit out of me and my friends but we loved it! His early stuff is hard, then he got more shock/glam metal.
Some nice doubles in the lyrics. There must be loads more since the whole song draws a comparison between drug use and showbusiness, but these I've always loved: "We love in vain/vein" "We really like to sell you" (sell you as a product, or sell you drugs).
This particular album "Mechanical Animals "is a remarkably astute release for Manson as the follow-up to "Antichrist Superstar. " He did not try to recreate the intensity or Insanity of that other album even though it's old like crazy and was a huge breakthrough for him, this record is more subdued and has a great deal more stints textures it almost feels like a weaponized version of Bowie's " Low" album. cool record
I dig your vids, guys. Keep putting out that groovy content. Concept album-wise, Mechanical Animals is about an alien (Alpha/Omega) who has come to Earth, been "captured" by celebrity culture and turned into a star. This vid tells that story in a condensed way. Peace! ☠
From what I remember hearing, the name is a reference to both marilyn monroe and charles manson. It was commentary on how both individuals captured the attention of the public but for different, polar opposite reasons (one for fame, the other for infamy).
If you think that Manson's androgynous suit was extreme, have a look at how Pete Burns (from Dead or Alive) altered his appearance. I saw an interview where he was asked about his sexuality/gender (he'd been married to a woman for years, later married a man and was divorced from both). And he said something like "I'm not Gay, Straight, Bi, or Transgender. I'm me, I'm just Pete". 😁
Wearing RUSH. I’ve seen them live in concert 18 times on their most famous tours. Do Anthem or Analog Kid, one of Alex’s best solo shreds. He really goes off. Both excellent RUSH songs, guaranteed on my TEXAS honor and my long time RUSH ARMY status here in the Lone Star state, one of the band’s favorite places to play. They said that many times over the decades! Just establishing my credibility, not a brag. I know this stuff.
Basically, if you played any music of his to people but dont tell them who made it they'd love it. He does awesome music, and the lyrics, which aren't really that much about drugs, more about society and popularity. He twists them and you don't know the meaning until you really focus on what he's saying. Super talented guy who has copped ALOT of crap for just being bold enough to point out what crappy people we all are, and the particular sects we join shouldn't be idolized, when they are the ones who are 100% fake and doing all the damage. All he is about is saying " hey, but you do this, and you think that is OK, but I'm like the superbad person here for pointing out the crap you actually do worse!!!!" Seriously, he's just making all the what seems powerful people accountable for their actions.
14:50. Well, with this theme, you should check out “The New Shit”, By MM. But check out the earlier shit first! Antichrist Superstar is a top twenty album of all time, in my opinion! Obviously don’t do the edited version.
so many people hated Marilyn Manson just for Brian's looking it was "shocked" back in the day but they never pay attention to the lirics to realize they really are dope! Lol.
Hey guys!! This is unic. You should check, don't remember the song. But live whith Jhonny Deep playing the guitar. Awesome!!!! Greettings from Argentina
There was a yearly "hits and misses" vote in a Finnish music magazine and they also print comments. There was "Marilyn Manson got himself a pair of tits, and the music lost balls" 😂 I always loved this record though.
I still think marilyn manson's one of the dopest of the shows.😊🍃💊😂 Back in the day I used to rock this song all the time. But these days it wouldn't be heavy metal enough for me. But I still really like it.
You should look into the band Lutharo. They’re relatively new (debut album dropped in 2021), but they are very talented and on the rise. Check out their song Lost In A Soul (there’s a video) and I promise it’ll make you a fan.
A couple of other great songs from Mechanical Animals are I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me) and Coma White. From their first album Dope Har is a great song. The video looks like it's inspired by Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Charles Manson and some very trippy colours
Idk if you ever heard of Marilyn Manson's Triptych, but I recommend you reading about it and all the philosophy (specially inspired by Nietzsche) and symbolism (MM always include alchemy references) involved in Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood. You will see and understand him in a totally different way
Nice to see you still there after 3 years, still doing some quality reviews. As you digged a lot into music, I would suggest to react to a drumming session by El Estepario Siberiano. A monster, simply
Marilyn Manson is so iconic. Since you guys enjoy his music I think you might like this new artist’s song I got in my Spotify release radar AM I YOU - IN YOUR HEAD.
😂”Where are the areoles?” Hollywood, you just made my day! Ha Ha! I have to meet you guys! Fucking hilarious! I can give you all the Old School stories. I was there. And some serious jams, I’m very good at that. Even if you don’t pick my suggestions for the channel, please listen to them on your own time. I guarantee my songs. I go HARD. Only the best. You guys deserve to hear this music and I know it all. YES, DRAMA album will absolutely floor you. Better than TOOL in my opinion. Yeah, that’s a very strong statement. I’ve seen TOOL live 5 times on their best tours and I’ve seen YES 7 times! Just give it a shot on your own time.
This is one of my favorite Marilyn Manson song really ironic that Hollywood is wearing a kiss shirt because that kiss was a huge influence to Manson music and imagine
So I walked into a bar once and the DJ (friend of mine) was playing the original Sweet Dreams and I hear him say ‘Is he gone? Is he gone yet?’ I then get shoulder checked by some boy having a pout storming out, was him… I laughed.
Mechanical Animals is such an underrated album. It really felt like his tribute to David Bowie (who he idolized). The songs were less shock and more melodic. Honestly, there really isn't a bad song on the album - Coma White, Rock is Dead, I Don't Like the Drugs (but the Drugs Like Me), The Speed of Pain - just amazing music. I think it gets hate because Antichrist Superstar was such a heavy hitter and this was a complete change sonically.
Marilyn Manson has so many great songs. But, I really want to hear your take on Heart Shaped Glasses. I read dozens of articles and heard many opinions on what that song is about and I want to hear your take.

When you want it
Goes away too fast
Times you hate it
Always seems to last
Mechanical Animals is my favorite MM album!
@@Brotha_Teresa My personal favorite is Antichrist Superstar, but Mechanical Animals is a close second!
Yes ...my first album of MM is mechanical animal..I buy it around 2002..wow..long time..and I still have the cassette
Same the obsession was real!
You ain't the only one been obsessed lol
Marilyn Manson - Irresponsible Hate Anthem. From Antichrist Superstar , heavy AF and guaranteed to start a conversation. Angel with Scabbed Wings if good if you want headbanging whiplash.
I agree! Irresponsible Hate Anthem is unreal good musically, and incredibly interesting! So many phenomenal lines, especially the middle fingers part, just cuz it’s so basic, and put an incredible turn of phrase on it! Such a fantastic song to launch one of the most incredible albums ever made!
Honestly the entire Antichrist album is perfection. Mechanical Animals was a fantastic follow up to Antichrist.
Manson was so good back then
I’d like to see ‘1996’. Think those lyrics apply to today and the culture wars more than ever.
Angel with the scabbed wings is Manson’s best song ever.
Sop is beautiful. I appreciate it more as I get older.
Great Big White World 💜
I love how you can use the CD cover to find hidden symbols and messages on the inlay card for mechanical animals
In the video, that's an alter of Manson's, Omega. And his band The Mechnical Animals. There's a whole backstory to him which is very fascinating....I know a bit about Manson...😁
I remember when Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson premiered on MTV. My friends and I watched MTV for 12 hours straight to watch it a second time! 😂😂
Morning guys! I love this song! I remember at a concert where the smashing pumpkins played billy Corgan announced they had a special guest and it was Marilyn Manson! He came out pretty much wearing the same outfit he has on here with the boots and sequin suit and started making out with Billy on stage. It lol. I saw Manson from the first row about 20 years ago. I am 58 now so didn’t really know much about him. Was blown away. I didn’t know who the guitarist was but was blown away by him as well. It was John 5
Another Manson song that has that slow groove to it is "Nobodies"...please check it out!!!
Love that song
That song is a response to being blamed for the Columbine Shooting.
This was the first I saw Marilyn Manson on MTV - as a little kid I didn’t have cable. I loved the “f-u, taboo is bs” attitude. He was against the Pearl clutchers. The Holier Than Thou
My oldest son was 4 when he first heard this song.
We had to listen it every morning on our way to kinder care.
😂😂😂raising him right🤘lol
You had me at Kiss and Rush t-shirts. As always, love the reaction.
This is cool you guys reacting to Marilyn Manson, this album is a banger, Mechanical Animals, i'm in a Marilyn Manson vibe the last couple of weeks. badass song...heavy GROOVE! PLEASE DO "Tainted Love" total fire
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
He picked his name because there is good and evil in each of us... both the good n evil in Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson
My introduction to Manson was Portrait of an American Family and its still my favorite Manson album. 🔥🔥
That album is amazing
2:22. What a sweet person!😆🌸🌿
Rewatching this in 2024, it's crazy how ahead of their time this song and video are.
Marylin Manson is just one of those timeless bands/artists!
Damn Hollywood! Lol! Had to take out my headphones for that "you got it my friend!" Lmao. I wish I could be there on the Tues live! Will be soon when I switch jobs! Yay!!
6:23
Watching the dude with the hat listen to his friend give a whole ass speech about Marilyn Manson was too funny 🤣
This album was a split between the masculine and feminine. Alpha and Omega. It’s a great album I’ve listened to hundreds of times on CD.
I almost got to see John 5 on this tour but it was cancelled because of a snow storm.
Manson is great , they have some cool tunes !
Angel with the scabbed wings!! Lets go!
I saw the Dead to the World tour in 1997 and it was a SHOW.
If you really want to see androgynous Manson, check out the official video for "Long Hard Road out of Hell", haha!
Man I love the Mechanical Animals album from MM! It was such an extreme right turn from Antichrist Superstar. I feel like his alter ego, Omega, from this album was definitely an homage to Ziggy Stardust.

Love the Marilyn reactions their aren't enough reactions to him on RUclips.
Go Manson!!
Awesome reaction!
Putting holes in happiness has one of the best guitar solos
Where are the areolas? LMAO!!!!! I love you guys!
I came to the comments section just to say that 😂
That beat is
HARD. The live version of the dope show is so awesome that little guitar Rift that plays in the background when they start singing the refrain the former lead guitarist John 5 would go crazy it was great
Watching him at the 5FDP, Manson, and Slaughter to Prevail show 2 weeks ago!!... Fucking awesome!!!!!!! All of them were awesome!!!!
Manson has some really good songs. Wight spider, slo-mo-tion, angel with scabbed wings, long hard road out of hell, Antichrist Superstar (a must see) the list keeps going. My favorite song is his cover of tainted love and the videos fun too

"We love in vain/vein"
"We really like to sell you" (sell you as a product, or sell you drugs).
Mansons' music is FULL of word~play like this because he's a genius and a musical wordsmith🤘
My first album of MM is mechanical animal..high school 2001/02..continue to Hollywood, the last day on earth and so on....all in cassette version 😅
This particular album "Mechanical Animals "is a remarkably astute release for Manson as the follow-up to "Antichrist Superstar. "

Hey guys I just found your channel. It's awesome! Just subbed.
One of his best songs! I wish more reactors would react to just the song bc the video throws them off of the greatness of this track..
I dig your vids, guys. Keep putting out that groovy content.
Concept album-wise, Mechanical Animals is about an alien (Alpha/Omega) who has come to Earth, been "captured" by celebrity culture and turned into a star. This vid tells that story in a condensed way.

The theme song to my early 2000's 😂 🤘❤️🇨🇦
My favorite Marilyn Manson song
He was so far ahead of his time ..This song is a societal norm today .he is preaching
I knew the trivia immediately R.E.M. is from the same city as me Athens, GA
First song I ever heard from MM, with video and all. Long hard road is second one.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Holy Wood, this album, and Antichrist Superstar a trilogy?
Yup, and it tells the story in backwards order from Holy Wood to Antichrist Superstar.
Wearing RUSH. I’ve seen them live in concert 18 times on their most famous tours. Do Anthem or Analog Kid, one of Alex’s best solo shreds. He really goes off. Like marlin Manson he's ready good 🎉

Nice summary!! The general public will never accept or understand him & that's all I'm saying #istandwithmarilynmanson
May I recommend chemicals by Daron malakian and the scars on broadway (SOAD‘s guitarist)
they filmed this video in my hometown
if you see a video set in the middle of nowhere, nine times out of ten it's out there too
This is a solid track. The writing is some of his best. The industrial sound, is hard as fuck.
Man that you fear is a great video
14:50. Well, with this theme, you should check out “The New Shit”, By MM. But check out the earlier shit first! Antichrist Superstar is a top twenty album of all time, in my opinion! Obviously don’t do the edited version.
The Fight Song. You`ll love it!
Awesome reaction, I wonder if you guys have reacted to Ozzy live in his early twenties, War Pigs live in Paris 1970 is a must! ☮️
so many people hated Marilyn Manson just for Brian's looking it was "shocked" back in the day but they never pay attention to the lirics to realize they really are dope! Lol.
Hey guys!! This is unic. You should check, don't remember the song. But live whith Jhonny Deep playing the guitar. Awesome!!!! Greettings from Argentina
And You can see Jhonny Deep playing with Iggy Pop.
This is halloween is my favorite manson song
There was a yearly "hits and misses" vote in a Finnish music magazine and they also print comments. There was "Marilyn Manson got himself a pair of tits, and the music lost balls" 😂
I always loved this record though.
I still think marilyn manson's one of the dopest of the shows.😊🍃💊😂 Back in the day I used to rock this song all the time. But these days it wouldn't be heavy metal enough for me. But I still really like it.
Go back to the first album 1994 and check out the video dope hat
From my favorite album, Mechanical Animals. Every song on that album is perfection. My favorite is I Don't Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me).
You should look into the band Lutharo. They’re relatively new (debut album dropped in 2021), but they are very talented and on the rise. Check out their song Lost In A Soul (there’s a video) and I promise it’ll make you a fan.
Also his acting name, was on Mr. Belvidere.
I remember when this album came out and people thought he actually got breast implants for the cover.
Omg I remember that now! 😯
This was one of many urban legends about Marilyn Manson. My favorite was that he had one of his ribs removed so he could felate hisself.
Very Bowie
A couple of other great songs from Mechanical Animals are I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me) and Coma White. From their first album Dope Har is a great song. The video looks like it's inspired by Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Charles Manson and some very trippy colours
Billy Zane is the one in the plaid suit. This song came out in 1998.
Yall should check out the band Aviana - overcome. It is my new favorite song. It is my new favorite Heavy Metal song.
Oh, MM is a genius, a true artist❤
Good reference
They blame it on MARILYN
Nobodies!!!! ❤
Great Big White World is a jam off of this record... amazing 👏 and "Disassociative"
Everything listed is 🔥Throw coma white and coma black on there too.
Edit!: Just go down the rabbit hole. Lol
I swear SOAD took inspiration from this video for "Aerials"
Such a simple sexy bass line
My favourite Manson song is his cover of Sweet Dreams
You guys should check out worldfall by sons of erebus, black metal from Australia
The whole album is Ketamine inspired. Manson's David Bowie phase.
Do Jaldaboath’s “Bash the Bishop” next. Or something by Agalloch, Wilderun, or Sabbat (UK)
Coma Black next, please🙏🏼🤘🏼
This is one of my favorite Marilyn Manson song really ironic that Hollywood is wearing a kiss shirt because that kiss was a huge influence to Manson music and imagine
So I walked into a bar once and the DJ (friend of mine) was playing the original Sweet Dreams and I hear him say ‘Is he gone? Is he gone yet?’ I then get shoulder checked by some boy having a pout storming out, was him… I laughed.
Oh Omega, we worship Thee
Spelling is fundamental 😊 -Marilyn
I love that they're using the Power Rangers Command Center
Holywood is a no skip album
You can really hear (and see) the David Bowie influence here.
