Well the covers certainly helped, especially in Europe where the originals of these covers are huge hits. Eurythmics Sweet Dreams, Depeche Mode Personal Jesus or Soft Cell Tainted Love are all still aired on a regular basis today, not to mention back then in the 90s when these songs were "only" 10-15 years old.
If I remember correctly, Manson was part of a group your which was playing in Salt Lake City. Unfortunately, Manson and the Spooky Kids weren't allowed to play. So when one of the other acts was on stage he came out and started tearing out pages of the Book of Mormon one at a time, saying "He loves me... He loves me not..." Of course he was arrested.
Legally speaking, a cover *has* to have the same lyrics, but you can do whatever you want with the music and delivery of them. He's only done like three covers, and the bassist is/was Twiggy Ramirez, real name Jeordie White, he's done a lot of work with other people over the years. Manson's parents don't seem to think too much about it, but his dad was a preacher when he was younger, and calls him 'Manson', but his mom still calls him Brian.
ON THE SUBECT OF "THIS" VS "THESE": Annie Lennox, lead singer of the Eurythmics, isn't singing "sweet dreams are made of these." She's singing "sweet dreams are made of this," but she pronounces the "this" as "thee-iz." (1) Annie has a Scottish accent and is from the UK. This probably contributes to her "this" sounding a little bit like "these," especially to American ears. In fact, listen to an interview with her and catch any sentence where she uses the word "this." She doesn't drag it out as long as in the song (bc in an interview she's talking, not singing obvs) but you'll still hear her Scottish accent turn "this" into "thees." (2) Singers often modify vowels when singing and very often will turn a single vowel sound into a two-syllable dipthong (e.g. a singer might sing "man" as "may-un" or "time" as "tah-eem"). In this case, Annie's playing with the slinky/eerie vibe of the vocal line by putting a little stank on "this" and turning it into "thee-iz." (2a) Similarly, when Annie sings the line "some of them wanna get used by you" later in the song, she pronounces "by" as "bah-ee." And when she sings the line "moving on," she sings it as "movin' own." Those vowel modifications are less confusing to listeners than "this"-->"thee-iz" but it's the same idea. (3) As rappers, Smokey and Hollywood, you should recognize that pronouncing "this" as "thee-iz" and rhyming it with "disagree" and "seven seas" is a slant rhyme. Every rapper uses slant rhymes and Eminem is, like, 97% slant rhymes. It's not as weird as you made it out to be in your reaction. (4) The title of the song, the official lyrics of the song, every official listing of the song, and the band themselves (even Annie on Twitter recently) refer to the song as "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" and always have. There's no Mandela effect here because nothing's changed. The lyric is "this" and has always been "this." People just misheard/misunderstood what she was singing because of the weird, stylized way she chose to pronounce the vowel in "this." But, then, that weirdness and style is part of what gives the Eurythmics their vibe. Check out the Eurythmics song "Missionary Man" if you haven't already heard it, btw. I think you guys'll enjoy it.
His mum and dad were older parents and they were very proud and supportive of their son Brian in his choice of career. His mum died 2014 and his dad died 2017 and it affected Marilyn greatly.
As a big fan, I think you guys would dig these MM songs if you ever wanna revisit, cause stayed changing his sound while keeping that vibe. Without name dropping every vid, here's a few random songs between 1996 and nowadays. The Man That You Fear (1996), Long Hard Road out of Hell(1997) , Coma White (1998), Disposable Teens (2000), The Nobodies (2000), Tainted Love (2002), This is The New Shit (2003), Putting Holes In Happiness (2007), Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon (2009), No Reflection (2012), Third Day of Seven Day Binge (2015), SAY10 (2017), God's Gonna Cut You Down (2017/2019), Don't Chase The Dead (2020)
Just putting this out there...Manson and Rammstein did a collab in 2012 for an awards show...Beautiful People...Manson at the mic, and Rammstein making the song better.
To me he is the artist who made the best covers. Sweet Dreams, Rock N Roll Ni**er (the best one to me), God's Gonna Cut You Down, Personal Jesus, Surrender, Working Class Hero, This is Halloween, Five to One, Alabama Song, I Put a Spell on You, are all very good covers You should check out some of them 😉

People just misheard/misunderstood what she was singing because of the weird, stylized way she chose to pronounce the vowel in "this." But, then, that weirdness and style is part of what gives the Eurythmics their vibe.
Check out the Eurythmics song "Missionary Man" if you haven't already heard it, btw. I think you guys'll enjoy it.
Obligatory algorithm comment complete! Commencing thumbs up selection.
Mr Manson is always an expirience , great Person in different Levels... greetings from Germany 🤘🖤✌️
Into the fire, evidence, putting holes in happiness, coma white. All amazing Manson songs.
At that time the bass player was Twiggy Ramirez
Bad omen -like a villain 💯🔥
Just putting this out there...Manson and Rammstein did a collab in 2012 for an awards show...Beautiful People...Manson at the mic, and Rammstein making the song better.
Do more Manson!!!
To me he is the artist who made the best covers. Sweet Dreams, Rock N Roll Ni**er (the best one to me), God's Gonna Cut You Down, Personal Jesus, Surrender, Working Class Hero, This is Halloween, Five to One, Alabama Song, I Put a Spell on You, are all very good covers
You should check out some of them 😉
Don’t forget Tainted Love
When I was a teenager people would always judge you for enjoying his music. I was ok with the judgement.
this is actually my ringtone..
My cousin, Brian H. Warner a/k/a Marilyn Manson is a spooky goofnut. Love it!
Dont know if it’s been requested but I am surprised you guys haven’t reacted to the new Babymetal song “Divine Attack”. It is the first of 5 songs being released early from their new album “The other one”. I hope to see it come on from you guys. Love watching you guys.
Ya'll hit us with some Koopsta Knicca for Halloween last year.

Yep, seen him in 2002 as a 15 year old...what a show!

Manson's dad is his biggest supporter
Type O Negative - All Hollows Eve

Alice cooper was The initiator of that look and creepiness but it was taken to a much higher level with Marilyn
An interviewer asked him once if the rumor about having ribs removed was true, and he said "if that was true, and I could do that, why would I be here right now?" Shut him right down.
He also did This Is Halloween.
They also do a great cover of tubeway armys "down in the park"
