Thats the problem with interviews. They make you analyse yourself in relation to your own historical backstory. You're forced, or at the very least persuaded into justifying who you believe you are. And while Manson may come across intelligent. I feel he would never be strong enough to disentangle himself from his egotistical view of himself.
His view of himself, as Manson, that ego is him. Manson represents who he is or must be. He's simultaneously himself and his art. Does that make sense? I find it hard to explain, but as far as I understand this is how he views it and why I think you identify why it would be impossible to disentangle himself from this image. It's because he IS that image, his art changes and he must live up to it and through it. I'd imagine this would cause you a lot of grief over the years if you were the kind of person he is.
