5:50 Neil says depends if the people running it have nefarious intent, but actually it doesn't have to be the case. Because to those people they believe their way is the best way. It's not nefarious to them. We, looking from a different vantage point do see it as nefarious, but it's wrong to assume that malevolent perceptions are formed in the same way. So just because something seems bad or wrong to you, doesn't mean it does to others - just because something is over the line to you, doesn't mean it is for everyone. And that has great implications for trust. Don't assume someone won't do something because "it's nefarious". @@ernesto_20328 not quite. Genius isn’t so easily defined. There are several different types of genius, some with overlapping traits, but the only common denominator is exceptionalism. Think of the wiring of every brain as an uniquely designed interstate highway system. Most consist of crowded roadways/traffic jams/slow moving traffic(neural connections). To allow traffic to flow more freely new roads(neural pathways) must be created. Every brain has the ability to create new neural pathways. The more you have, the greater your intellectual capacity. The more acute or specific forms of genius tend to manifest as a result of shortcuts in the wiring of the brain, imagine a high speed railway traveling directly to and from point A and B on our aforementioned highway system.

I like listening to Neil debate issues, because he’s not arguing from a pro left pro right stance, he argues from a true/false, fact/fiction kind of stance.
The fact that Neil even gets hate is the ironic thing. With how "smart" the internet is, he should actually be very understood with everything he is saying. It's actually very solid and strictly non-debateable.
No-one and no idea is “non-debatable”.
@@luffytrace1 the irony of this comment lmao. It’s a paradox
he speaks very logically, it's amazing how many people can't follow what he's saying
you can't infer he's never wrong from a selection of examples in where he is right
he was already pertinently wrong in some statements almost 15 years ago a time or two,
people criticising him isn't new...
none of those were nearly as egregious as his vaccine meltdown though,
which was just a huge admission of weakness.
his credentials were of no value there, he's not a virologist, and neither did he ever argue anything on scientific grounds, he went all in on dogma and appeals to authority... neil never looked quite as bad before, .. so the "hate" is not unjustified really,
plenty of people that are pretty indifferent or mildly charitable or to Jordan Peterson were willing to show how wrong he was on his take on internet privacy, and let him know.
that does not mean they all hate jordan for criticizing him harshly on a really shit take...
using hyperbole like "hate" gives me the idea you may be deifying the man a bit too much and getting a bit too defensive
@ha it'd litteraly not as a matter of fact your comment is evidence of it as you are debating his point which in my opinion is true tho still debatable

I wish he wrote more fiction. "Contact" was a great movie. 😀
I am always confused why Neil is questioned about things way outside of his expertise. He always has an answer even if he's completely out to lunch. He's like that one kid who has to talk over everyone to answer questions not even directed at him, so he can show everyone how smart he is. You would think at this point in his life he would have more self-confidence and maybe keep quiet once in a while. Abe said it best: Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.
dood. he kind of has a movie like story, on top of being african american(idc about color, means nothing to achievements)getting to meet carl sagan at a bus stop and being given his number and talk with him.....plus if you see his early days, he wasn't the nerd, he looked like he worked out a little and was cool looking....
but to your point, he does act this way and it is very off putting the past 5 years. he was good at first but the more he talks, the more you see how confident and tries mental gymnastics to argue a point than sticking to being asked about physics and such...

People are complaining that he knows to much and what's funny is that they don't even say he is lying. He uses facts to back up his options and some don't like him for that. Instead of learning from him people are asking why doesn't he know so much he thinks he is smart🤦🏽♂️

We are talking about great differences in perspective, between the average person and those with control.
To be smart is to have a correct answer to many many questions to be a genius is to understand that sometimes the correct answer will not always be accepted as correct.
