To give a bit of context: the SOAR vs ENVYUS game was trolled because Envy's solo laner at the time was having internet connection issues and kept getting kicked from the match in game 1. Hi-Rez claimed it wasn't a problem with their servers and forced them to continue playing. The tragic part is that I believe this was the only time their substitute solo laner got a chance to play in the pro league, and he was immediately fined along with the rest of the team for something he likely had no say in.
@@Keelay_ i might be reading your comment wrong but if you're a sub and the whole main roster is going with a strat there's no world where you go against them

This is already a video on big A’s channel, from a long while ago. I believe it was made because of that 42 hour long AoE match ok so I lied it’s basically reacting to a really well made melee video lmao
SC2 has a little over 250k active players in 1v1 this season. Its two peaks since 2016 were ~321k. Those might just be ranked numbers. It's mostly old players, and new player introduction had steadily declined til recently, but it's on an up-curve now. Streamers like UThermal are bringing back a lot of interest. =)
He said it doesn't have a lot of viewers, which is completely true. Things like CSGO have 50k viewers on Twitch, SC2 is like 2000-5000 most of the time
8:00 okay, at that time Bellona was absolutely fucking broken, that was after the scourge got nerfed too. She went through like 5 more nerfs after that. She was dumb fun to play if you somehow got her through bans in comp tho. Originally you just get scourge dive the t2 or 3 tower and had enough lifesteal to kill and survive.
@@Ohboymason edit sorry, somehow misread sol and hel. Hel was also broken at a time. Was this when sols attack speed stack and abilities built at the same time? Game was just broken and fun.
I think it's hilarious they think they can recreate the game, even if they chose the right side to play as the odds of the opponent recreating the set of moves needed is astronomical.
That AoE4 game was truly iconic and one that I recognized as soon as I saw the names, I remember just how confusing it was for us at the time. Great video as always.
I've gotta say the quality of content that Big A has been putting out lately is insane. Every video has been incredibly enjoyable to watch. Keep it up glizzy man
contrary to lol, in dota its completely up to the discretion of the pro team whether they want to forfeit. they could forfeit immediately after the draft if they wanted to, but since the game has good comeback mechanics most people try to play games out as long as it makes even a glimpse of sense
You can't forfeit in professional league. At least not anymore. You could for the first couple seasons, but you can't GG. You have to play the game out now
After seeing the chess one, I spent 30 minutes unsuccessfully trying to recreate the scenario until I realized that the strat is entirely dependent on white going knight to d2, trapping his own white king. The move is only possible because white shot himself in the foot, an apt comparison to the Smite and League ones where the team throws on a failed level 1 jungle invade
Yeah.. It is a terrible move and nowadays people are taught good opening principles early. Knight almost always go to f3 or c3. Unless someone plays the hippo against you and develops that knight first. But in the hippo they don't play e4.. It is really dependant on opponents from a different time..
this gets a sub for how they made sure the viewer understood what was going on and why it was crazy. with the age of empires it was like storytelling when describing the importance of sheep.
The dota explanation: It is a very snowbally game where some characters are good early and fall off later (Pudge) and exist more to prevent the other team's carry (person who gets good late) from really getting off the ground. By being down 3k gold minutes into the game now all of the enemy players are far ahead and because your odd comp is absolutely not meant to go late game the only way they would have won is if the other team absolutely threw
A bit more of the actual details, m5 was having a bit of an internal tif, and were tilted for personal reasons. They almost certainly would've played the game out if the team was on better terms. I remember watching that game live, m5 minute GG was a good meme for a while.
The funny thing about the Smite one is in normal games you're not even allowed to surrender before the 10 minute mark in normal circumstances. You can only do that if a teammate never loaded in (at the 5 minute mark) or in a custom game. So you couldn't even beat this time in a ranked game.
The other funny thing is they broke competition rules as it is stated you aren't allowed to surrender before 10 minuets (even though the game obviously let them)
After the SC clip, I was hoping that for Melee Atrioc would have shown KoDoRiN vs Kurv. I personally find that one a lot funnier; KoDoRiN wins an entire best of 5 set in 3 seconds using only two moves. It's also especially funny if you know Kurv's history with Marth.
SC2 is very much still alive. It's very much a niche scene of dedicated fans, not the mass market of games like League of Legends, but it is still there and doing fine. You could argue that Heart of the Swarm basically is SC3 as it brought a similar level of change to things like available units as the change from SC1 to SC2. SC2 basically just went games as a service model and got regular updates rather than getting a new installment in the series.
I remember there being a match in Heroes of Newerth where team Stay Green steamrolled the enemy team because they didnt understand the comp AND didnt react in time. It was like a 5 minute game or something like that, where they picked 2 or 3 junglers who could make minions and just yolo'd everything mid, and because they killed everything they had a massive gold and EXP lead. By the time the team reacted the second tower was almost gone already.

with the smite game, the first game in the match the losing teams solo laner dc'd and the smite crew made them play it out. They made them play with a sub for game two, so with a sub in game 2 and losing game 1 to a dc, they just trolled and surrendered when it didnt work. Also, bellona (Baskin's god) has an ability where she swings around a hammer, then slams it down in front of her. The more people it hits on the swing around, the more the slam does. The Gibard-Lazaud game was from 1924, and is probably just from someone's *analysis* of the actual game, meaning the blunder wasn't actually played. The Grandmaster title wasn't actually created until 1950. For a top player the shortest I've seen is Magnus Carlsen losing in 6 moves, but it was an online blitz game where he made an ill-advised premove (declaring his move before even seeing his opponent's previous move, to save time) and the opponent, hoping he would do that, set a trap and delivered checkmate.
