- A tutorial video about how to humanize melodies and add swing to drums in the AKAI pro MPC ONE. It's a simple process that will have your sequence sounding live (like a band). This is great for guitar strumming (considering you pick the guitar strum progression for realistic guitar playing!) or for a real piano player feel. The sounds I used for the instruments are a part of the F9 expansion. You need to register your MPC One at the official AKAI professional website to download. Halfsour1 it’s not a bad tool to own for several reasons. I thought it would be a step down from creating in a daw but it’s more productive.
I used to make beats in fl then took a long break decided to get a mpc one on the weekend and your videos have literally answered every one of my questions so far 👍

Great tips. These days my MPC is basically an 8 track recorder. Thoroughly recommend using some outboard sequencers and setting different sequence lengths for a drum sound or two. Eg, run the hi hat at 15 with the bass on 32 steps.

This was dope! The drums sounded off when u pushed the swing to 60 but then when u added some kicks it all fell into a nice pocket! Nice technique. 👍🏾

Had my mpc a few weeks now and the swing on my drums just stopped working, every time I try out swing on drums absolutely nothing happens seem to have tried everything anyone know what this is about?

Thank you for this oldie, but goodie. May I ask: Does swing only get applied to the one track we apply it to or when I apply it, it gets applied to the rest of my tracks?
I ask because I've played around with swing, but it seems to modify multiple tracks, not just the one I'm trying to focus on. Maybe I'm doing something incorrectly? Thank you for your time! :-)

When sampling using the Q Links to adjust the start and end points is it possible for the section to be looped in the sample edit or program edit because I can’t get loop in engage...

@@AveMcree the sounds are dope in the f9 expansion I just checked out another channel he had the live and got the expansion mpc got mad it was only for the one but the only good sounds to me that are usable in the mpc live/x/touch software is the drums the software is the same should've given it to the whole mpc user community

@@tamarastanley8391 Well I'm sure they will allow live users to purchase it. Also, I strongly disagree about the current MPC sound selection. I've made several great beats using just the plugins. I hate to say it but there's far too many crybabies in the community who point finger and never find solutions. People need to spend more time creating and stop complaining. There literally a solution for everything production wise in the current MPC line up. Those same people cream about older gear that had less features. This is why only a hand full of people can make a career out of production in a nut shell.

I know that you said that the maschine is gone, but what about the push 2? Have you tried to incorporate the one & 2 ?
Joe Bond well I use Ableton live for mixing vocals and mastering projects. Also, the mpc one’s missing the Ableton live integration features for some reason. I thought about getting rid of the push 2 since I have the akai force.
two questions: Can you apply the swing just to individual pads, for example the hats only, or just to the whole selected track (which usually contains kick snare etc as well)? If you add swing to a drum track like you did, and afterwards you overdub some hat for example with TC on, so will the swing be applied automatically to the newly played parts or do you have to apply swing a second time to the drum track?
Robin Kaissner yeah you can adjust the tc for every pad individually
And yeah if you add in hi hats by overdubbing it will record in the swing but you can go back and adjust every pad individually

Do the chord progressions transfer midi note data?
Yeah, there several ways to transfer MIDI from the MPC one the a computer. You can export the MIDI, hook it up to your DAW via controller mode, or just hook it up to your audio interface via MIDI in.
Edit: you can hook it up external keyboard and sound modules too

@@AveMcree yea these marketing AI's are crazy. but yea the humanize function is useful in many ways, lil wonky sometimes but you can get some dope sounds from it. *tip* do it or apply it, when you press do it after apply it does it twice, and adjust hat you just applied. Peace!
