A good Robert Palmer song was "Some Like It Hot" when he was with the group Power Station in 1984 to 1985. he was the lead with 2 brother guitarists from Duran Duran and the drummer from Chic.
This one is such a fun song. And it's paired as a twin to "Addicted to Love". You'd probably recognize that one, too. Yeah it's about how powerful and beautiful a woman is - but as much as it as about that - it's about being a simp because of it.
Robert Palmer was like the James Bond of rock-n-roll....British,....cool,...handsome, a sharp dresser & always surrounded by beautiful women!! Oh,...& PS....none of the women were playing instruments!! just for show...
Robert Allen Palmer (19 January 1949 - 26 September 2003) was an English singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. He was known for his powerful, soulful voice and sartorial elegance, and for his stylistic explorations, combining soul, funk, jazz, rock, pop, reggae, and blues.( Died at age 54 ).
Robert lead sang in a project called "The Power Station" until they switched singers, but it was at this point in time and it was with 2 members from Duran Duran. John Taylor and Andy Taylor ( not brothers) Check them out, very very late 80's.
Please react to Robert Palmer - "Sailin Shoes, Hey Julia, Sneakin Sally Through The Alley". 3 short songs that kinda blend into one. But they show Robert Palmer's soulful, bluesy earlier side.
I love Robert Palmer. He was an outstanding musician and unique in many ways. He still is a criminally underrated artist. My favorite song of his is "Addicted To Love". P.S.: You both have wonderful voices. Thank you, Asia and BJ❤
Robert Palmer died from a sudden heart attack in a Paris hotel room on 26 September 2003 at age 54. A quiet man in his personal life, Palmer was uninterested in most of the excesses of the rock 'n' roll lifestyle, although he was a very heavy tobacco user who smoked as many as 60 cigarettes a day.
Together, you guys both create a "superstar couple". I just love and appreciate all of the enthusiastic energy, sincere thoughtfulness, playful humour and great vibes that you both put into each video. Asia and BJ ... thanks, and keep rockin' the house!
Robert parmer oooh great voice , great dresser , yes i was a little in love ❤with Robert parmer .you are missed and at times underated . Smooth , cool r i p Robert .
Yes, "she's so fine, there's no telling where the money went" added a note of humor to the whole song. And I love how Robert Palmer had a hard rocking, funky, soulful, nuanced vocal delivery and a very formal personal style. It's very special among rock artists - no big layered hair, no fancy face makeup, no skin tight pants and bare chests. Just a very well groomed front man who can deliver any rock song in a unique way.
People are going to mention Power Station too. I totally agree with them. It was almost what they call a Super group. It’s when standout artists from other bands decided to get together to do their own thing together. It’s almost always great. Think of 3 or 4 people, each from a band you like and now put them together. That’s what it is. Power Station with Robert Palmer and players who CAN REALLY play! Songs: Some Like it Hot and Bang a Gong are the standouts. Cool band, badass songs.
I think this and Robert Palmer's other similar videos were a spoof on the ”Maybelline super model clones” of the day back in the 80s... some things don't change much. I've always got a chuckle out of his videos.
Asia, you'll feel much better once you watch Shania Twain's, 'Man, I Feel like a Woman' (a fellow Canadian) ;) Love the vibe you guys bring to your channel. Love your voice Asia! A big hello from Ontario, Canada!
Asia got this song. Its a tribute to the power you women got over us poor men. He said he didnt even care where his money went. 😂😂We all been there. Some of us are still there. We just here to worship yall. ✌️❤️ from Ky
The models are dressing and glamour to Robert Palmer videos by adding eye candy and visual distraction to the mix. Try this again in the smoother, more relaxed context of the video I DIDN'T MEAN TO TURN YOU ON. And to get more more muscle and raw power he has a song, DOCTOR, DOCTOR ( BAD CASE OF LOVING YOU ). Or the seductive reworking of the Gap Band single, EARLY IN THE MORNING. It's a video of a live rehearsal as they work out the kinks before the show. His vocals are on point.
This style of video w/ the dancing chics who looked like that were the most recognizable thing about Palmer's music videos. Not all of his vids were like this, but "Addicted To Love" was another one w/ those slickbacked chics w/ red lipstick and miniskirts. That look became an indelible MTV/music video image back then. It's been mimicked in other videos. There was a female singer who had dudes in her vid as a parody. It's imagery that made it into pop culture.
I was in the Navy when the song came out. I remember sitting in the barracks clown and the friend of mine came into the room and all he said was oh and ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod. And Dad thank God only his eyes were bulging out. Hahaha
He's great on the mic as well, I mean more than just the singing. He's kinda captivating. There's a great song he does you gotta hear, it's 2 songs in one called Mercy Mercy Me.

Asia, I think the models were told to look off-camera like that on purpose, to indicate that they’re “not really into” Robert, they’re supposed to be “aloof”. They’re the kind of girl who gets someone to fall in love just so she can use them, but she doesn’t actually reciprocate the affection… Maybe she’s already looking for someone else who’s richer!
The back story of this video was interesting. They hired models for the video, and most of them didn't know how to dance. So they just told them move with the beat. Robert did not like it , and was ready to call it quits because of their attitude and inability to dance. If I remember the fact correctly.
Palmer & UB40 was also a master stroke. Also, Palmers She makes my day, Respect yourself, Bad case of loving you.....oh there are so many. The man was incredible

the song is meant to be a very cool, very rhythmic salute to that moment in time (most all of us has at least one) when we are just totally smitten by another human being (could be man or woman). The spot at 5:27 where they are looking at something: the girls are, as instructed, looking at different cameras, which are purposefully capturing their different facial expressions, and THAT IS WHAT YOU SEE at different places on the video, in the girls independent "spots" as the shots chosen are edited into the video. “There’s no telling where the money went”
one of the best lines of all time!
Sadly we lost Robert Palmer at 54 is was such a cool, suave sophisticated dude. Class.
His hobby was RC model aircraft flying.
I had this fantasy duo in my head, 'cause it seemed like a perfect match: Sade and Robert. Man, that woulda been suavely HOTT!
